Olympic Torch Chased off London Streets

Thousands of people decended on the Olympic Torch Procession today leaving bungling coppers forced to bundle the torch (which had gone out) onto a bus.

An angry but peaceful crowd forced the police to retreat on Fleet Street and the flame made the journey to Tower Bridge by bus.

Meanwhile heated debate, if not scuffles, almost broke out at Canary Whalf between Free Tibet protesters and Chinese students.

Round ups of the day can be find at indymedia, we joined in the fun on Waterloo Bridge.

Here’s some pics.

On Waterloo Bridge

The chase through the city

The eternal flame has gone out!

Best take the bus instead

Differences in opinion at Canary Wharf

This Alex fergusen wannabe claimed to be the owner of Canary Wharf
(later admitting he was actually duty security manager, bless)

  1. The State has totally used you today. The whole build up to these Olympics has State planning all over it. BBC, MI5, CIA, Washington and London.
We didn’t stop the war. And you won’t stop the Olympics. The CIA didn’t care about Afghanistan’s, Iraq’s, Kuwait, China’s or Tibet’s “freedom”. This is all propaganda about the competition between the USA and China for the world’s resources. China WILL very soon surpass the USA as a military, technological and economic power. Just give it a little thought; the State has been pulling your strings.

  2. My personal reason for being there like no doubt many others was not to try and stop the olympics, but to let the chinese government know that the Tibetans do not stand alone, that the whole world is against the repression and murder that they are committing in Tibet does not go unnoticed..
I cannot see how you can say” This is all propaganda about the competition between the USA and China for the world’s resources”when surely its more about trade agreements. I don’t believe that anyone was pulling my string yesterday or any other forthat matter, perhaps what did get pulled was the wool over your eyes.
    fool!

  3. Look dudes, I have been immersed in Mahayan Buddhism for most of my life. But I can’t see Lamaism as a ‘political’ system. There was and never has been any Shangrila. For god’s sake, we’ve got Iraq and a million dead, Palestine, Afghansitan that our own Bourgeoisie have got us up to our necks in blood. Please ponder on stones and glass houses. Check my link. Why is the State not looping that, every hour? Why was the ‘marathon’ 31 miles long? Why is channel 4, the BBC, those bastions of free speech (remember Harry and Helmand?) had it’s programming full of Lamaism? I may be crazy, but I am no fool. Step back and view the whole scene. I shall not trouble you any more, but please check the link. We must deal with our own ruling class.
