Meet @TheLennoxP, The Welfare-To-Work Parasites Caught Fining Unemployed People For ‘Tutting’

The list of potential fines first

The list of potential fines first revealed in the Ardossan Herald.

A story so astonishing many assumed it was an April Fool is breaking in Scotland after sleazy welfare-to-work parasites the Lennox Partnership were caught fining unemployed people for looking at their phones or having their hands in their pockets.

According to the local press, the Lennox Partnership are contracted to run training services for unemployed people by the SNP controlled North Ayrshire Council.  This training involved participants being fined for often trivial reasons such as ‘tutting’, swearing or answering their phones.  Whilst the lowest level of fine was just 10p, those on the course could be fined as much as £5 if their phone rang outside of designated break times.  After all it’s not like people looking for a job might have a good reason to take a phone call in the middle of day.

Even the DWP are appalled, with the Daily Record reporting they have suspended referrals to the STRIVE  programme run by the Lennox Partnership.  Those behind the schme are unrepentent, with North Ayrshire Council claiming that they are just trying to “change behaviours and instil a professional attitude”.  Participants who refuse to pay the fines are required to leave the course raising fears they may face benefit sanctions for refusing to take part in ‘work related activity’

The company say that their scheme is entirely voluntary and nobody will be sanctioned should they choose to leave.  This reveals a shocking ignorance of the current situation faced by claimants who are subject to benefit sanctions for ever more trivial reasons.  It is Jobcentres, not the Lennox Partnership, who decide whether a sanction should be imposed.

The STRIVE programme is aimed at long term unemployed people, and it is possible that some participants may have care and support needs meaning safeguarding rules should be in place to prevent this kind of financial coercion.  The Lennox Partnership also boast on their website that some participants in the STRIVE programme have been as young as 16.  It is unclear whether they also fine children.

Whilst the legalities of the scheme are murky this practice is clearly unethical.  With the ever-present threat of sanctions hanging over unemployed people’s heads it is little more than extortion.  Whatever mealy mouthed excuses the Lennox Partnership come out with, the experience of claimants is the same.  This company are demanding money from some of the poorest people in Scotland with the unspoken menace that their benefits may be taken away if they refuse.

You can tell the Lennox Partnership what you think of this vile practice on twitter @TheLennoxP

    • There’s nothing murky about it, it’s criminal, if they tried that with me I would arrest the first person who tried to demand payment from me.

    • Sorry to hijack the thread but has anyone tried phoning the Universal Credit number today? No money in bank, a possible induction to get me off the actual dole and I can’t even afford the bl**dy train fare thanks to another admin error. Each time I try to phone the number you get the answering machine spiel then it cuts off a good few minutes later without any explanation in the recorded message. It’s a bl**dy shambles.

  1. Typical of the new approach of systematic contempt for the unemployed.

  2. I thought this was a spoof to begin with. But seeing the story in the Scottish press, and THE NATIONAL too, I realized it was real. But it is also illegal. These folks have no authority whatsoever to impose any kind of such fine, and if they have, I should be arrested for theft ! We could say the same of benefit sanctions, but as that’s the Regime, it is a bit more difficult to prove how illegal it may be in the circumstance. Tho, there will definitely be times when DWP staffs impose illegal sanctions. It’s getting the means to prove that, and get something done about it, which isn’t always easy for many.
As for this STRIVE thing, replied to another poster earlier on the “April 15 working day” Post. It looks like it deals mainly with the younger out of work folks, and the case histories they give out appear to be the easier to help ones too.
However, that said, it really is a telling attitude that they view young out of work ppl in this manner, they think such a thing as this is acceptable.
It should be closed down, or at the very least, the initiative be given to others with a better way of doing things, if it must continue. Tho who would be any better, would be hard to find as most of these things are based on exploitation of one kind or other.

sian – that’s really good news – the Tories must be pretty much hated in Wales now!

      • TiredAndEmotional

Many in Wales don’t like the Tories, but increasing numbers seem to want to vote for them. In 2015 11 Tories were elected as MPs in Wales, (best result the Tories in Wales have had in 30 years) a huge difference to May 1997 when Wales became a Tory free zone. 11 Tory MPs means that more than a quarter of MPs representing constituencies in Wales are Tory.

I wish it could be said that the Tories were hated by far more people in Wales, but sad to say, more and more seem to be attracted to Tory values, or worse, have become bewitched by UKIP.

    • The really funny thing is… he needed 10 people to stand him, so he lost 3 by the time the vote happened. Now that is bad, LoLz.

  5. paultheswineherd

I would have thought that this was indeed, illegal.
Firstly and foremostly, where is the ‘written’ guidance for these fines and ‘who’ have these ‘fines’ been issued by? Is it the ‘provider’? – it certainly sounds very much like it could be.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if a ‘trainee’ said ‘what authority do you have to do this’? – I AM NOT PAYING ANY FINES IMPOSED. What happens then – is he/she going to be reported for a sanction?
“Are you going to take me to Court for not paying a 10p – £7.50p ‘made up by you’ fine”?
I’d have thought that this ‘provider’ could be on very sticky ground here!
If it did come to Court, surely the ‘provider’ would be found to be acting illegally in this particular case.

  6. I would punch them in the fucking throat if they done that to me. A quiet word with the supervisor when no one else is listening would be enough to make the cunt think twice with fucking with me.

    • If more people in large numbers acted like you say you would, Cephalus, noone would dare sanction anybody.

      • When your back is against the wall you have to fight back. The word with the supervisor would be along the lines of “You better be careful with the way you act, if you get me sanctioned I will find you and i will kill you!” His/hers word against yours if they try to report you.

    • BIG DICK McPHEE

You sound like a real tough guy, Cephalus. You sound almost like that Richard Widmark character, Commanche Tod. A reeeeeaaaallll tough Guuuuuuuyyyyy….

  7. paultheswineherd

They definitely must not be allowed to do any of this shite.

Don’t forget people, the last referral date for MWA’s and CWP’s was 31st of March 2016.

Whilst on the subject of poor claimants being charged between 10p and £7.50p in concocted fines – please do not forget this one (Channel 4 News has covered this a lot recently, including launching their own investigation into it). Many of Cameron’s high and mighty cohorts may well have broken Electoral Law with this one.
    dpac.co.uk/2016/03/conservative-mps-broke-the-law-to-win-the-2015-general-election-the-canary-torydump/
The Electoral Commission and the Police really need to look into these very serious and also, potentially criminal actions.

  13. Notjing but OUTRIGHT theft with threats, still, what do you expect from the gestapo when they are looking for disreputable scammers to fleece poor people

    • I would let the first fucker who demanded money off me with menaces know I would call the cops on them for extortion and abuse of office, and when they got back from sorting that out at the knick they could expect a house ‘warming’.

  14. I notice they make a fat profit off the state. Companies House accounts here: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/SC111183/officers
I also notice they have a local councillor on their director list. Can’t see from which party.

    • The councilors listed there were all Labour councillors in the Clydebank-Dumbarton area at the time. All are no longer serving coumcillors. All resigned within a year or so of being appointed.

As excellent as their proof reader ?

Notice there’s no mention of Paid work anywhere.

Absolutely stunning experiences – they both ended up in ‘charity shops’, probably doing ‘full-time’ hours for fuck all in payment. Disgraceful – and if this Lennox crap think that these are ‘good outcomes’ for these girls, then they really need to look at themselves and exactly what they are doing.

      • There was some girl on a jobcentre ‘course’; admittedly she was one sandwich short of a picnic, but in a garbled voice she said: “I volunteer in the Salvation Army charity shop for 5 days a week and I am really happy”, said with a great big idiotic grin on her mentally-defective lobotomised face. This is what the jobcentre want to turn their clients into; this is the ‘mould’, and they will keep on pressing….

  17. Utter BOLLOX.
I would suspect the venue burnt to the ground after the first sanction.

  18. When I first posted this on twitter, even respected workfare fighters told me it was an April Fools.
I can not put into words what I think of this without it turning into a foul-mouthed tirade!

  19. From someone who was sanctioned from those ‘holes, Learndirect just because one of their idiots put the wrong day down for an absence when I had for a job interview, I will believe anything I hear from any of these places who waste your time and efforts, punishing you because you can’t find work.

    • From the comments: “ALL the best jobs are taken before they are advertised.” So true. “If you ever get a good job, hang on to it because you wont get another one!” Too right!

    • Fuck the jobcentre

“There are folks who have been volunteering quite happily, because they wanted to do something they thought useful, but ended losing their benefits, as it was not the kind of thing some DWP advisor wanted their “clients” to do. They wanted them in at some useless course at a jobcenter on how to update a CV or something stupid, when they had no need for that. Or wanted them to work gratis, in a local charity shop, because the charity shop had a contract with DWP from where it would get its staff, or a discount store or something. So if you think volunteering is a good thing, then according to DWP there are the wrong kinds of volunteering, and the right kinds! ” Yup, the only ‘right’ kind of ‘volunteering’ is in a Sally Ann ‘charity’ shop or a ‘recycling’ plant!

      • Shouldn’t be any such thing as volunteering in modern society as the crooks and the con men use it as an excuse to rip the piss out of people, especially unemployed people. Anyone who does any job of work should be paid for it, otherwise you get into this David Camoron ‘Big Society’ mindset. So called well meaning types who volunteer to do jobs for nothing have ruined employment chances for a lot of people.

        • As long as there are charitable organizations there will be poverty.
We need secure legislation on welfare that prevents this.
Big Dick talks about achievers and success moving forward, yet wants to move backwards regarding welfare, which was set up to put an end to poverty in cyclical employment.

      • I thought the better of mentioning any actual charities by name, but Sal A. were the main ones I had in mind.

        • Should I ever becomes unemployed, or if I’m told to do more if UC ever comes in, I’ll volunteer like a shot. At our local unemployed workers centre helping ppl in conflict with JCP!

    • Just tweeted our First Minister Nicola Sturgeon about your linked to article, asking her if she thinks that is acceptable and if not then what are the SNP doing about this kind of gross exploitation? I’ll let you know what is said in the reply. BTW i’m an SNP voter so this will be kind of interesting. If i don’t believe the reply is satisfactory then i may have to think about taking my vote elsewhere.

      • paultheswineherd

Raining – It’ll be interesting to see what she says in reply to you!

        • It’s a no reply Paul. I thought as much! Politicians don’t like being nailed and put on the spot on the big issues like the exploitation of already vulnerable people. They prefer to avoid commenting and pretend they never even read the question.

          • paultheswineherd

Raining – Yes, I am not surprised at all my friend. These ‘politicians’ want to maintain the ‘status quo’ – not upsetting their ‘hard-working’ voters – anyone who is poor or are ‘low-paid’ – really they do not seem to care about. She is a representative of the SNP – nevertheless – ‘she’ is now quite a ‘high-paid’ politician – who, in reality does not care too much for the ‘poorer’ people of society. It seems to happen all of the time – a local MP gets promoted to Government (and gets more money) – gets promoted to a Government Minister (and gets more money) – gets promoted to a ‘First Minister’ (as in our shameful P.M. Cameron!) and they forget about the poor people. THEY THEN LOOK AFTER THEMSELVES – ONLY! THEY LOVE THE POWER OF THEIR ‘NEW’ POSITION – and fuck everyone who is any way ‘below’ them.

With these buggers having used workfare people in the past, it is a total disgrace that they are being given this free publicity – and, yes also at the TV licence payer’s expense. Their original aims were good and years ago they were a decent ‘charity’ – but also – no more.

Looks like the welfare to workfare gravy train could be coming to the end of the line at last.

Ministers are set to slash funding for programmes to help the long-term unemployed, sharply reducing the role of private companies in delivering “welfare to work” programmes.

Priti Patel, employment minister, told welfare-to-work providers at the end of last year: “We have largely overcome the issue of long-term unemployment.”

“THE NEW LIVING WAGE CON TRICK”

I am really rather concerned at the publicity and celebration surrounding the new ‘living’ wage.

The television advertisement tells us, unequivocally, that every person currently subsisting on the minimum wage, will be better off, to the tune of 50 pence for every hour you work. This is clearly untrue, and verges upon deliberately misleading, and perhaps, should be referred to the Advertising Standards Agency.

Firstly, in order to receive Working Tax Credits, someone must work 16 or more hours per week. Anyone working 16 hours per week, will receive £115.20, which is above the upper threshold to claim Working tax Credits. Consequently, anyone earning the new ‘living’ wage will gain 50 pence an hour, at the expense of their Tax Credits. Consequently, they will not be 50 pence per hour better off.

Similarly, those working more hours, who will also find their Tax Credits evaporating, will find that they suddenly cross the threshold for Income tax and, increased, National Insurance payments, so the, much lauded, 50 pence per hour extra will be diminished further.

Workers on the minimum wage may well see themselves much worse off, even those receiving Universal credit, following their ‘generous’ pay rise, their 50 pence per hour will, literally, end up being a pocket full of nothing!

  43. GEOFF REYNOLDS

Stephen Crabb has put Maximus ‘Under Scrutiny’

STEPHEN CRABB, the new work and pensions secretary, is seeking to tear up government contracts with private “welfare to work” contractors as part of a radical overhaul of Iain Duncan Smith’s benefits revolution.
In the first sign that Crabb will make changes to the government’s flagship reforms, he held a crisis meeting about the troubled universal credit on Thursday and ordered officials to come clean with him and the public about the problems.

Whitehall sources say one of Crabb’s first moves will be to “get out of” problematic government contracts.

One firm under scrutiny is Maximus, which replaced Atos in providing health assessments for claimants of the employment and support allowance, the new benefit for the disabled.

The National Audit Office (NAO) reported in January that since Maximus took on the contract for fitness-for- work tests in March last year the cost to the taxpayer had doubled to £579m. It also said that one in 10 reports is rejected by the government as below standard, compared with one in 25 under Atos.

Maximus did not respond to a request for comment but at the time of the NAO report a spokesman said the company had brought in new staff “to meet the requirements of the contract going forward. We are confident about the future and remain fully committed to delivering a high quality service.”

A senior Whitehall source said: “Stephen [Crabb] is a sceptic of throwing ever-more millions [at private companies]. One contract in particular — Fit for Work — he will be looking to get out of that contract pretty quick. Fit for Work is an early candidate for some serious reworking.”

During Thursday’s meeting, which lasted for six hours, Crabb “lifted the bonnet” on universal credit.

Only 200,000 people have claimed the benefit despite forecasts that 1m would have enrolled by 2014.

Crabb ordered weekly updates on the programme, which merges six benefits into one, and told officials to stop blocking freedom of information requests.

From next month five jobcentres a month will begin operating the full universal credit system for whole families, not just servicing single claimants.

The source said: “We need much greater transparency. This is such a public-facing project, we have nothing to fear from public scrutiny.”

Crabb will lay out his approach to welfare in a speech on April 12, saying he wants “work coaches” who are delivering universal credit to be held in the same esteem as nurses are in the NHS.

  44. FUCK CAPITALISM

OMG just heard the Conservative Party political broadcast on tv, nearly puked. Lost count of how many times they used thewords “hard work”, “decent people who get up early”, “hard working people”, “people who work hard” etc etc. Aaaaaaargh! FUCK OFF CAMERON.

    • DECENT PEOPLE WHO DO THE RIGHT THING

Talking of “decent people who get up early”, I have a 8.50am signing appointments tomorrow, FFS. I’ve done all the required jobsearch but I bet the idle bastards can’t be arsed reading it.

      • Not worked it out yet? It is on purpose! And eventually you won’t bother. And then you will get pulled up by the ‘hit squad’. And what have you got to show? Nothing! Instant sanction for not actively seeking employment. Don’t fall into the jobcentre’s trap. ALWAYS cover your butt and keep a job-search record. And make sure they are aware of it too. They try all sort of trick even down to lying that they don’t have any diaries. And look at you as if you are a fucking idiot for coming in with a job-search log. They are waiting to pounce.

        • FUCK THE JOBCENTRE

I recorded it all on UJM, every website I looked at, what time I look, every job description I read and what time I read it, every job I apply for, where it’s at, on which website, what time I applied, Reference number of the job, what time I leave home & how long it takes me to walk to them jobcentre and vse versa. There’s reams of it and it would take them à while to read it, plus it would be a very boring read. But they want jobsearch evidence, so I make sure there’s tons of it, fortnight after fortnight, I never stop recording every slightest detail. It’s easy really, and it pisses them off big style. ;p

          • paultheswineherd

Fuck The Jobcentre – That’s the way to do it – record everything – and then read it back to them – they would probably really enjoy listening!!

In an evening where we’ve seen both a BBC 6.55PM “Election Broadcast” on behalf of the “Conservative Party”, extoling the hallowed virtues of the Tories – ranging from ‘looking after the NHS’ to the ‘fake families’ – buying their own ‘Tory subsidised’ homes and ‘looking after the ‘hard-working’ families in Britain – those families ‘doing the right thing’ of ‘being in work’ (this is nauseaously sickening) – then, we were confronted with the revelations from the BBC ‘Panorama’ programme that ‘our’ P.M.’s father Ian Cameron was fully involved in a ‘legal’ tax avoidance scheme.
WHAT A LOAD OF SHITE – I WOULD RATHER VOTE FOR SATAN THAN VOTE FOR CAMERON – FUCK HIM – AND FUCK HIS GOVERNMENT.
Meanwhile – IDS & Stephen Crabb – we have not forgotten you twats – both of you have got to watch your backs!

  48. Meanwhile back in Blighty the land of the con man, bent politician and crooked banker, there’s more bad news on the pension front as tons of people are warned they might lose all their pension savings and most younger people in their 20’s and 30’s are warned they will lose sums like £19k over their retirement years.

Ah yes good to see that when you’re a Hard Working Taxpayer Who Does The Right Thing then you’re looked after when you’re a pensioner in the good ole UK.

Of course then when your money runs out they’ll put you back to work in a fast food establishment or similar to pay for your pension.

  61. Public Accounts Committee urges DWP to challenge fit-to-work test contractors.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) “appears to have repeatedly misjudged what contractors can deliver and the uncertainties underlying what can be achieved”, according to the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) latest report on health and disability assessments.

The report examines delivery of assessments for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and Personal Independence Payments (PIP). It finds that despite reductions in the backlog of assessments, and a major contractor change after the early termination of Atos’ contract in 2015, claimants are “still not receiving an acceptable level of service from contractors”.

There are “particular concerns for claimants with fluctuating and mental health conditions,” it says.

Crabb will lay out his approach to welfare in a speech on April 12, saying he wants “work coaches” who are delivering universal credit to be held in the same esteem as nurses are in the NHS.

these twats have no authority under the law what so ever to initiate these so called fines. that’s why the dwp has pulled the plug on this bunch of creatures because the dwp know full well this practice is unlawful!!.
it it was not then the dwp would happily endorse this tactic.

  98. It is scum like this that give disabled people a bad name. Despicable!

A couple who claimed £64,000 in benefits for severe disabilities have been caught on camera lifting heavy hanging baskets at their local florist.
Arthur McCarroll, 58, and his wife Susan, 65, were targeted by undercover investigators from the Department for Work and Pensions.

McCarroll claimed it took him four minutes to walk just three metres (9.8ft) and said he was so ‘severely disabled’ he was in danger of falling on a daily basis.

The pair from Larch Road in Kingswinford were both handed suspended sentences at Dudley Magistrates Court.

The video, which was shown to the court, shows the husband and wife walking freely across the road carrying hanging baskets. It also captured Arthur loading heavy boxes into a car.

Susan McCarroll had wrongly claimed £35,040 in disability benefits since 2002 while her husband received £29,203. Both pleaded guilty to fraud.

McCarroll was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison suspended for two years while his wife was handed a 26-week sentence suspended for two years.

They were also both given a six-week curfew from 7pm until 7am.

His wife said she was unable to walk, couldn’t cook a meal and needed help going to the toilet as well as getting in and out of bed and chairs.

Olive Oyl has had a £53000 per year hand out from the taxpayer to employ a ‘fashion adviser’ who is now on this fantastic salary!
No one seems to be able to stop these bastards from wasting taxpayer’s money!
Disgraceful – not only that though – isn’t Yardley JCP the one that was reported on here had a poster up regarding ESA claimants?
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/samantha-cameron-special-adviser-fashion-aide-taxpayer-salary-530000-a6974181.html

    • It is totally scandalous that Samantha Cameron hires a fashion assistant at Public expense, when she is herself even richer than her husband. The family lists is like something from the Victorian age, of great great this and that, and links to past Kings, earls, and lords, and prime ministers into the bargain.
Of course that is not her fault, but taking full advantage of it is!
It’s not like in USA where the First Lady has some kind of an official role, much the same way the king has a queen in Europe. So if she wants to have all those trappings, she has the pesos to pay for it herself.
As with Iceland, this folly of the wife should lead to the fall of the Prime Minister.

      • Also, one thing about “Lady” Cameron is that she is an Ambassador for SAVE THE CHILDREN !!! We would hope this charity disassociates itself from this wretched little thing. How can she claim to care about all these poor children, and all the awful things they have to suffer in their little lives, when she is fully supporting policies that are destroying children’s lives in UK? Destroying their families, and she goes in response, hires a 50,000 something damsel to help fill her dairy out, and help her decide which nice stuff to wear to whatever bash she is going to. And no doubt, advise on what would not a be suitable going to some charity thing.when she is going to be with the poorer folks. She will have to look a bit more mundane them.
Just as tory MPs are being forced out of patron roles for disability groups, she too should be forced out of that charity.
We wonder what on earth the ppl who run these charities are thinking of getting this crowd involved…..could it be their own personal rewards?
It certainly isn’t for the good of the charity anyway!

        • paultheswineherd

Gordon – Well said my friend.
‘Save The Children’ (it used to be ‘Save The Children Fund’) is just another so called ‘Charity’ – fully designed to get as much money out of people as possible – often to fund the CEO’s lifestyle – the new ‘mansion’ and the new ‘heated swimming pool for his/her family/friends.
The ‘Committee’ of this particular ‘Charity’ has, somehow allowed this far too priveleged woman to be an ‘ambassador’ of theirs.
They think no doubt – Samantha Cameron as a ‘patron’ of theirs – WILL draw more money in.
They need to kick her out, just the same as many of the other Tory M.P.’s/Ministers – THESE RICH AND PRIVELEGED PEOPLE SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO BE INVOLVED WITH ‘TRUE’ CHARITIES
Samantha Cameron’s husband David has been at the head of a Government which has brought poverty and death to too many now to be forgotten. His Ministers, including IDS have (by their actions and orders) have murdered and are continuing to murder at will.
The jury is out on Stephen Crabb – but, the indications are that he will be nothing other than a ‘clone’ of IDS.

There has always been them and us. That is a fact of life. Fighting it won’t do any good. It never does. Just accept your lot in life. Like the Dalits do. Sometimes you just have to accept the inevitability of the situation. You’re a man with a small cock, you’re gonna be a cuckold. You’re a woman with foetid breath, you’re gonna be an old maid. You have one leg, you’re never gonna run a 10 second 100m or a 32 minute 10k. Just accept your lot in life.
Do well at school, get a career, get a 25 year mortgage, grow old wnd die.
I, BIG DICK McPHEE HATH SHPOKANE.

    • ???
You are beginning to sound a bit like the dude who called himself a name that began with “R”. Same person perhaps?
I wonder if you make all this stuff up as some kind of provocative thing, merely for the fun of it, or if you really really do believe it.

      • BIG DICK McPHEE

Listen Kane, I’m not “R”. And whether you believe my sincerity or not means nothing to me. I couldn’t care less what you think.
We live in a democratic country and we have the right of free speech, and the right to express an opinion. This is what I do. If you don’t like it, TOUGH.

“DWP MURDERS DISGUISED AS UK FLU OUTBREAK”

Quite enchanting the way our dodgy corrupt government tries it’s utmost to try and cover up the welfare slayings by citing that a rogue flu mini epedemic was the root of the cause………..

Sky News even had the temerity to feature an expert who put the deaths down to austerity induced benefit cuts. Mind you, the BBC will never seek to publish the truth being the mouthpiece of it’s zionist backers that pull the strings of neoliberal corporate greed that is tearing the very fabric of life apart at the seams.

    • On Radio Four ANY QUESTIONS, this Friday, evening, (April 8th), MP Frank Fields, said he thought junior doctors had a point, but that they were in danger of losing public support. He raised the point that If people die because of the strike action, the junior doctors could face a backlash.
When DWP staff allow thousands, and thousands to die, and thousands others to kill themselves, why is Frank Fields and others not demanding an end to all of that? Why no public backlash, and London media machine condemnation? I was not too impressed with this week’s offing. Digy Jones was, as usual appalling in his comments on just about everything, especially the NHS. “Everybody works a 7 day week”.

      • GEOFF REYNOLDS

        “FRANK FIELD, THE TORY SYMPATHISER”

He always has. In his youth, he was a member of the Conservative party, but he was thrown out for opposing South Africa’s apartheid system. Shortly after becoming the MP for Birkenhead in 1979, he took on Militant and threatened to stand as an independent if they attempted to deselect him. And then there are his views on the welfare state, which place him firmly in a category all of his own, certainly within Labour. Put most simply, he believes it degrades the very people it is meant to serve, that it creates a benefit-dependent, work-shy sub-class. ‘It’s our fault as politicians to have put temptation in front of people,’ he has said. ‘If the system pays people more on incapacity benefit [than jobseekers’ allowance], it’s human nature to claim the higher amount. We have to remove the incentive.’ In short, Frank Field wants to sack the nanny from the nanny state.

It was because of these maverick ideas that he was invited, when New Labour was elected in 1997, to serve under Harriet Harman at the Department of Social Security to plan reform of the benefits system. Or, at least, that was why he thought he had been asked to do the job. The green paper he produced was certainly radical: he wanted more people to take out private pensions rather than depend on the state. He wanted an attack on benefit fraud and tighter controls on incapacity benefit as a way of getting more people back to work. He wanted the right to payments from the state to be matched with responsibilities by those receiving the cash. He made it clear that he detested means-testing, regarding it as demeaning and wanted, instead, flat-rate benefits.

Sounds like Old Fieldsy was right don’t it? Like he was a prophet on a par with some bearded OT prophet. Welfare has created a benefit dependent sub class. Just watch them docs on Channel 5, or Jeremy Kyle.

          • Your government has created a dependent class because despite being the party of business, it is not creative enough to produce stable employment – IT CANNOT PRODUCE THE GOODS – at least not at a price that could compete with lower economy countries.

    • BIG DICK McPHEE

You wanna watch your mout. Somewhere in that paragraph uh yourn you used a word that can get you censored – severely. Don’t force me to grass you up. Just watch that mout uh yours from now on, Fool.

    • Well said Geoff – I blame the bstds who operate out of the city of London and who control most of the worlds central banks and controlled mass media.

      • BIG DICK McPHEE

Oh, and Marie, the reason why there is a Welfare State in the UK is precisely through the endeavours of those bastards working in the city. They make money that keeps the UK going.
You won’t know this but the reason why the UK is the fifth richest nation on earth is down entirely to the City of London and the banking industry. That is the only wealth creator in the UK and it makes the nation rich and pays for everything. If we were surviving on the revenue generated from tax raised by being a service industry, the nation would either now be a banana republic or bankrupt. Gedd it right, Marie. Godsakes, gedd it rart.

        • The City of London makes money for the greedy bankers, they take from the poor, that’s why there’s so much destitution – get it right Rog !!!

          • BIG DICK McPHEE

And Marie, the UK PLC makes money from global banking. What do you think pays for the NHS, NHS contributions? Are you that innocent? Outside of banking 90% of the working population work in supermarkets and shops. Their pathetic income tax contributions wouldn’t keep the UK afloat. Get real, Marie.

            • Another Fine Recession

              makes money from global banking
How does banking make money ?

90% of the working population work in supermarkets and shops.
How does moving stuff on and off shelves create wealth ?

              • BIG DICK McPHEE

Shut up Nonce. I know what I’m talking about. Keep shtum alright.

                • Another Fine Recession

I knew you wouldn’t be able to handle a couple of real questions.
                  Bye bye, – for now.

            • So bent is the HMRC that a city banker’s cleaner pays more tax than the banker, so I think you will find that it is the working class that keep the economy afloat, daft dick.

              • Global banking makes more money from derivatives which the working class produce, or in payday loans which the working class borrow, nobody can afford a mortgage anymore other than buy to let landlords, so corrupt is the housing sector.

            • Lord Pigby Jones

Indeed, it is the banking sector that generates the wealth that pays for schools and hospitals. Without the banking sector there would be no welfare state…😉

  155. BIG DICK McPHEE

Just been watching the Cameron Out protest on that Kremlin funded station, RT. The protesters were the kind of Left Wing Pond Life rabble that write to this blog. What you scum don’t understand is that Priminister Cameron got a mandate to do what he does. He got 24% of the overall vote. His policies are popular with the electorate. Fucking you dole-ite scum and fucking you hard is popular. It’s a vote winner. At the next election he’ll get a bigger majority. He’ll get 30 – 35% of the vote. And that’s because we, the Great British Public, we hate you scum, you whingeing whining scum. We hate you and we want to see an end to the Welfare State. And if you can’t handle that, then TOUGH SHIT!

    • You might need the welfare state if you lose your job or become ill or disabled – think on NO DICK McFEE !!!!

      • BIG DICK McPHEE

People such as myself, Marie, we don’t need the welfare state. There’s work out there for anyone who needs it, yes, that’s right, even you, Marie. Even you could find gainful employment, if only you would try.
Have you ever thought about cleaning hotel rooms? 30 rooms per day for minimum wage, and if you’re lucky, a generous dollop of Tax Credit. I know people who do this, almost exclusively they are Eastern European. They do the jobs that Brits won’t do, but you could do it, Marie. And get some self respect back. Not living off others, as a parasite; but living from your own endeavours. You know that you want to, Marie.

        • Actually BIG DICK I have applied for hotel cleaning and various other menial low paid jobs, alas to no avail – they seem to prefer eastern europeans for some strange reason, I’d be quite happy to clean hotel rooms as it would release me from the clutches of the Department for Workfare and Persecution ☺…

          • BIG DICK McPHEE

Marie, they prefer Eastern Europeans because they are hardier. They work hard and just get on with it. UNLIKE US WHINGEING BRITS.

            • So if they prefer Eastern Europeans how the bloody hell are we supposed to get work – they’ve made it damn near impossible for us.

            • paultheswineherd

BIG DICK McPHEE – I get up very early every morning to go to work every day, including sometimes when required at weekends, Saturday & Sunday. I get paid a basic wage (because my employer does not have enough money to pay me properly) with some Tax Credits for a top-up also
              DO YOU DO THIS?
Before you start attacking so many people on here – just take a look at yourself. I do not know any of your financial circumstances, – but, if you are in a job and your employer made you redundant – then you also could find yourself out of a job. Your savings would last you for so long, but they would not last indefinitely.
If this was the case, you would have no alternative then to apply to the DWP for benefits. The system (as I understand it nowadays) is that you could have to wait up to 6 weeks for your first benefit payment.
Even worse – you could have a heart attack or a stroke, or some other physical disability – nowadays (as I understand it) you would have to apply for Employment & Support Allowance – you yourself would have to go through a widely discredited Work Capability Assessment by a French or an American Private Company (both discredited) using so-called ‘health professionals’ – (not a properly qualified Doctor as such), but a physiotherapist or a chiropodist – a person who may not know nothing about your physical, or indeed mental condition.
Not all people claiming benefits are frauds – only about 5% or less are fraudulent, or do not want to ‘work’.
You have been misled by the Murdoch controlled press and Channel 5’s Benefits Street – which is a load of rubbish and do not represent the vast majority of benefit claimants.
BEFORE YOU SAY ANY MORE – I SUGGEST THAT YOU LOOK AT ALL OF THESE THINGS THAT I HAVE SAID AND THEN YOU CAN HAVE YOUR SAY.

              • paultheswineherd

Research it all PROPERLY first – and then and only then, are you in a true position to be able to comment on here.

              • 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟
                Well said Paul.

              • Paul the right wingers on here probably have buy to lets which they can make money from, they don’t need to work, they have shares in companies , bonds etc, they know how to make money from money!

I don’t understand why you are going to work for minimum wage yourself, the likes of Dick would not do that despite all of his blustering about work ethic etc, these people bought property, shares in utilities etc when the going was good, may well be running a small business to put their vat through and are getting the likes of you for minimum wage or someone on workfare.

You are wasting your breath with scum like him, he probably married money also.

                • paultheswineherd

fly hawkes – Yes, you are very right in all that you say.
I sometimes wonder too how I do all of this ‘minimum wage’ stuff – but I would rather be ‘in work’ (even though it may sometimes be shite!) rather then be out of it. I have a young family to support also, which makes it even more important. It really gets to me when I see the likes of ‘Big Dick Mc Phee’ slagging everyone off and calling them ‘workshy whingeing fuckers’.
Who does he really think that he is – he is, as you say most probably a priveleged person (similar to Cameron et al) who has not had to do a decent day of ‘physical’ work in his life – is indeed probably a ‘buy-to-let-landlord’ etc.
He really needs to take a deep look at his life – and why he is like he is.
What he really needs to understand is that anyone can become ‘out of work’ at any time for a multitude of reasons and with all of the financial implications that goes with it – and especially now, in this day and age, – in the age of zero hour contracts and no ‘job for life’, as it used to be🙂

                • People should lead by example. Like military officers pretend to do. Don’t expect others to work for minimum wage if you wouldn’t do it yourself. Roll YOUR fucking sleeves up and get down to cleaning up bogs, making hotel beds, or standing around bored out of your skull as a security guard. “But I’m a buy-to-let ‘investor’ with shares bought in public utilities at the right time, who runs a front small business to claim back the VAT on my flat-screen TV, and who happened to marry into money” just doesn’t fucking cut it! If it is sauce for the goose it is sauce for the gander.

        • BIG DICK you are (conveniently) forgetting that East Europeans over here live 10 to a room, eat the Queen’s swans… claim child benefit for (imaginary) children back home, incidentally paid at the UK rate not taking into account the lower cost of living in Eastern Europe Because of the exchange rate and the lower cost of living East Europeans are working for the equivalent of 100 times the minimum (‘living’) wage. The come here for a couple of years save up almost every penny, return home buy property, a business and retire on the proceeds; they never have to work another day in their lives. Even the ones who come here to claim benefits save up almost every penny just that they may have to spend a year or two more to save the equivalent. So of course East Europeans have an incentive to come here, unlike the indigenous population who aren’t afforded the same opportunities.

          • BIG DICK McPHEE

No they don’t Nob. I know Eastern Europeans. None of them are living ten to a room. They work hard and do the jobs that scum like you won’t do. Get your facts right You idle layabout dole dossing piece of scum.

      From: P. Smith

      3 December 2011

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

A disturbing trend is emerging whereby those with Asperger syndrome / High Functioning autism attend a WCA and are failed.
They wait for an appeal and then pass.
At a review three months later, they are failed.

I know of several such cases now.

      Why?

Please will you supply the supporting policy, procedure details, documents / instructions that allow this to happen – causing phenomenol stress to the individuals concerned – and anything else relevant that would explain this growing practice?

Is is government policy NOT to support vulnerable individuals with autism?

      Thank you,

      Yours faithfully,

      [P. Smith].

Its decision appears to mirror the decision of the UN’s committee on the rights of persons with disabilities to carry out an unprecedented inquiry into “systematic and grave violations” of disabled people’s human rights by the UK government, which is examining the impact of a series of welfare reforms and social care cuts carried out since 2010.

The EHRC announcement was included in the watchdog’s new business plan for 2016-17, which was published on Monday (4 April) without any publicity.

The business plan says: “Everyone has a right to an adequate standard of living, including a minimum entitlement to food, clothing and housing.”

It adds: “It is not clear whether the government’s reforms to tax, welfare and public spending have taken into account the cumulative impact of these changes on the standard of living of disabled people and other groups who may have been disproportionately affected.”

    • Rich Indians are used to seeing poverty and death all around them, that is why they live in the UK so that they can turn a blind eye. Pritti awful really.

  171. i’ve just heard some cunt on skynews say that mental health in young people is caused by social media. She also said mental health conditions just merge into one another, Bloody criminal

    • Fakebook is EVIL!

“social media” IS bad for mental health. The most depressed people are to be found on Fakebook, add to that Twitter, ‘internet dating’ and all the other time-wasting pieces of crap. Fakebook and Twitter can even be found on so-called “smart TVs”. The best thing to improve mental health is to turn “social media” OFF.

      • so it’s not due to deliberate propaganda/ lies/ oppression and government cuts to ensure a community with no mental health resources to help those in need earlier then??? that’s okay then – irrespective of the inanity of some social media ……

        • It’s nothing to do with the fact that the pseudo psychiatrists are pedalling their shit to the media, with libelous labels used as medical conditions.

It’s nothing to do with DWP sanctions if refusing to jump through hoops that may be causing unhappiness (not mental illness).

It’s nothing to do with all of those that voted for austerity imposing their barbaric will on the poorest in society.

IT’S ALL DOWN TO SOCIAL MEDIA – RIGHT!!!

  172. This is social media too!

quick answer – all of them – a more deceitful, inept bunch of right wing loons there has never been – yet they continue to behave as if they own the whole country – voted in on 24% of the population – we should burn all of their fucking houses down, preferably with them in it

  175. Fitness for work assessors ‘mock the disabled’ while earning up to £20,000 a month.

A fitness for work assessor for Government contractor Capita boasted he “flew through” vital welfare disability tests – earning himself £20,000 a month.

And another derided a disabled claimant as needing “help to wipe her a*** because she’s too f****** fat to do it herself”.

The footage was filmed for Channel 4’s Dispatches programme by a reporter who went undercover to expose the hated tests, which have seen thousands of disabled people wrongly stripped of benefits.

In the documentary, to be broadcast at 8pm on Monday, one Capita employee named Alan crows about raking in vast sums.

I also copy below a section which is aimed directly at those who hound/besmirch those who are unemployed and call them workless [I’m talking to you Dr A Prik – Otherwise known as Dr A Perkins] i.e. the Drive by Trolls.

“Let’s focus, however, on low income. Large numbers of people suffer low incomes for extended periods – previous research suggests that in Britain, well over half of us will have had at least a year on low income in a ten-year period. The reasons for low income include unemployment, but they also include low pay, having young children, divorce, disability, becoming a student, suffering discrimination or falling ill.”

So for those who criticise, as the Lotto says : “It Could be you.”
Going by the figures available, it probably will be.
