If Anyone Is Guilty Of Disability Charity Hypocrisy It Is David Cameron Himself

All smiles for the camera has he plots to cut the benefits of those with epilepsy

All smiles for the camera as he plots to cut the benefits of those with epilepsy

It must take some front to vote to slash benefits to poverty levels for sick and disabled claimants whilst also acting as a patron or trustee for charities that claims to support them.  So it is good news that Tory MP Kit Malthouse has been forced to resign as patron of his local MS Society whilst Zac Goldsmith is also facing questions about his role as patron of a Richmond AIDS charity.  But this astonishing hypocrisy goes right to the top of the Tory Party.

David Cameron himself is vice-president of two major epilepsy charities, as well as two local cancer charities.  According to the register of minister’s interests the Prime Minister is vice-president of both the Epilepsy Society and the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy, as well as being a Trustee of Epilepsy Research UK.  He is also a patron of Versus Cancer and Cancer Research UK Relay for Life in Witney.

Cameron’s interest in epilepsy was no doubt sparked by the death of his son who suffered from the condition, and so unlike Goldsmith or Malthouse, his concerns would appear sincere.  That does not change the fact however that one of his adopted charities has been damning about his government’s welfare reforms.

In a recent submission to a Work and Pension Connittee inquiry the Epilepsy Society slammed current Jobcentre policies saying that benefit sanctions “contribute to social injustice and the removal of human dignity”.  The charity is also a member of the Disability Benefits Consortium who recently lobbied as hard as their dirt cheap wordpress blog would let them to scrap the upcoming cut to Employment Support Allowance which could see some disabled people lose almost a third of their income.

According to the most recent figures – and they are a few years old because the DWP has stopped publishing this information –  around six and a half thousand people were assessed for benefits and placed in the Work Related Activity Group due to a diagnosis of epilepsy between 2008 and 2011.  From 2017 any new claimants placed in this group – and all those who have a change of circumstances – will be forced to try and survive on just over £70 a week.  The government say this will incentivise them to find a job.  According to the Disability Consortium this cut will make it less likely disabled people will return to work.

The death of a child may be a tragedy but David Cameron can’t have it both ways.  If he genuinely supports the charity he is vice-president of then he opposes his own government.  Whether he is involved with this organisation for comfort or spin makes little difference.  So will the real David Cameron stand the fuck up and either scrap these nasty reforms or have the courage of his convictions and resign from organisations which oppose them?  Don’t hold your breath.  Ask @epilepsysociety to sack him instead.

  1. It would not surprise me if many more Tory MPs had linked themselves up to charities. Are they getting additional funding by taking on these figureheads?
If so, then I would be suspicious….. Its generally not a good idea to bite the hand that feeds you – and many of these so called charities have become capitalist businesses behind the veneer of Charity work. Not saying that we paint them all with the same brush however, but its certainly another way for this detestable government gain even more control and influence.

  2. you will find in general most people who work close to charities in senior positions are not what they seam are are always wealthy and celebrity types and in reality know nothing about the people they are supposed to be helping

in the same vain a politician will have you believe that he or she went into politics to serve the public ?

when the reality is they went into politics to serve themselves and earn good money for just taking and in general just screwing peoples lives up

  3. paultheswineherd

If these people such as Cameron, Zac Goldsmith etc REALLY cared about sick and disabled people, then they would be doing no other than condemning these so called ‘Welfare Reforms’ outright, especially the last two reported ones – the £30 per week cut to new claimants in the WRAG group of ESA & the despicable cutting of ‘points’ in the PIP assessments from January 2017. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY THEY CAN GET AND HOW ARROGANT THEY CAN BE TO LOOK GOOD!

    • paultheswineherd

All that Cameron can say is “our long term economic plan is still working” and “we have got 4 million more people into work since we have been in POWER”. It’s all total and utter bullshit – or should I say “pig-shit”!!

      • Another Fine Recession

If 2 million+ really had swapped benefits for paying work, that’s a big change on 30 million workers, and Gidiot would be rolling in it.
There’s that many non-jobs and parasites/providers that the whole scam makes a loss of £bns!

  4. Rosemarie Harris

There is not one Tory who gives a damn about the disabled it’s all shop window you will find that the first people to claim benefit for a person who is disabled will always be a rich person… Because it’s a sence of it’s going free so i will claim it and these tories bastards are no different.
All charity’s who has anyone involved in Government belonging to their cause should get rid of them if they don’t understand the problem for the disabled which they have/are going to cause then it’s time to get rid of the pig humping the pig!
The Mp’s have had another pay rise plus 50 thousand towards there pension they don’t know how to live on our benefit but there’s are thousands which they claim for the essential underpants and breakfast . we had a chance to get rid of these braindead ‘benefit’ scroungers but not enough people voted against them .. Next time use your vote and start fighting back …. Don’t go quietly do what you can make banners and leave them around the area you live ..fight back they hate it.

  7. Rather than get up petitions to name, shame and remove these high-level hypocrites, it would be much more meaningful if the charities themselves sling out these two-faced patrons. What have they to lose? There is no kudos any more in these names….and there must be other more sincere willing patrons.

Cadet units in state schools to increase five-fold with £50 million budget boost

The number of cadet units in state schools is to increase five-fold by 2020, George Osborne announced in the Summer Budget.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Chancellor pledged £50 million to create cadet forces in 500 state schools. Most would be in “less affluent areas”.

Currently there are about 275 cadet units across the UK. Of these, only a third (fewer than 100) are in state schools.

According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), as of April 1 last year there were about 131,000 cadets in the UK, divided between the Combined Cadet Force (42,950), a scheme run through schools, and the Army Cadet Force (41,000).

Same old, same old, Britain built it’s empire this way, and defended it this way, except nowadays it’s defending the US Empire against enemies of it’s own creation.
That money would be much better spent on something useful to ordinary people.
Perhaps a campaign should be launched to oppose the militarisation of young people? It’s both immoral, and wrong. Given that the essential purpose of any armed force is to kill people, then surely anyone contemplating becoming a soldier should need to be able to make an informed decision before joining up, so they’d need to be at a level of adult maturity to be able to properly assess the risks involved, so they’d need to be around the age of 25 at least.

      • @Padi
That’s why during the 1950s and ’60s (my child- and teenhood) we had the Civil Defence, equipped by the government of the time and the staff were almost all volunteers but if I remember correctly a small bounty was sometimes payable. So we actually had a non-military “Cadet Force”. Civil Defence was introduced just after the end of WWII, partly to help clean up after the war, but also because of the Cold War and the possibility of thermonuclear war.

    • @Geoff
My Grammar school back in the 1960s had a Combined Cadet Force but I was never pressured to join. Bear in mind my time was before comprehensives.

These statements from the Decision Makers Handbook are going to come in very handy soon.
The Dwp recognise that sanctions for just a short period of time (two weeks), have a detrimental effect on a disabled persons life.
They also acknowledge that full health depends upon a varied diet containing sufficient calories and proteins recognising that a deterioration would occur in just a fortnight.

One must recognise that by allowing just £33 per week for you, a disabled person, to exist on for over two and a half years, their intention is to kill you.

Under the terms of human rights and equality laws i thought that you had protected characteristics?

You will certainly not be the first one to die. The cemetery is full of their vile blood sport. The recent changes will push the crematoriums to work continental shifts to keep up with the body count.

Presumably the reasoning was to have the enemy closer in an attempt to court favour and a few crumbs off the table. And look how well that’s worked out.

    • And if a £30 a week cut is supposed to ‘incentivise’ cancer victims back to work why isn’t the dole being cut by the equivalent £30 a week? Do work-shy dolies deserve more money more than the sick and disabled?

      • They are reducing the ESA rate to same as JSA rate, which is presently 73.10, a week. That’s 144.20 for 2 weeks. Folks under 25 don’t even get that much. So what 30.00 would you reduce?
Your comments about workshy is unfortunate, as this is the very response the New Nazis want. They wish the poor to fight amongst themselves, and not be united in fighting the Regime.
Mot folks on JSA are not “workshy”, the work is not there to be got in the first place. Mainly due to Thatcher taking all the jobs away.
Be it noted, this rate will not rise this year. It will remain this much for the next year at least. And it is less than subsistence level. That ppl have this little amount stolen from them by DWP over some petty thing an advisor decides, is quite criminal.
The poor, the unemployed, and the disabled folks should get together and help bring these satanic demons down. Labour certainly isn’t gonna help much. that’s obvious.

      • Point me to jobs that I can apply for, taking into consideration my own access to available public transport to and from the jobs in question, and whether or not I meet job requirements (I.e. need relevant experience and qualifications asked by the employer for me to do the job) then I will apply for it.

I cannot apply for jobs that require own transport as part of the job role and I cannot apply for jobs that are outside established bus transport links in my local area, nor can I apply for jobs where I do not meet specific employment requirements.

My town only has adequate bus transport links that do not run 24/7, nor does my town currently have any proper rail links – as these were closed down and ripped out by the short-sighted Dr. Beeching policies in the late 1960s.

        • While Beeching gets all the blame, it is always forgottten that it was a Labour Government that went ahead with all the rail closures!

          • Dr. Beeching authorised the closure of my town’s rail line back in 1968, only because it was apparently (by his own bean counters admission) losing money each week and couldn’t pay its way anymore.

Now, both Railfuture and the government have seen the awful mistake he made and are now trying to re-instate and re-open the remaining closed section for future commuter traffic to and from Cambridge.

sian – Good – what does he expect? Hopefully there may be a lot more of this to come!

  31. The problem is that most of us are working under the assumption that these loathsome Tory pig fucker cunts actually care about the people represented by the charities they are part of.

They do not. Cameron and his ilk do not give a monkey’s toss about the sick and disabled people represented by these charities. Why would they? The sick and disabled do not shower them with riches and gifts, they do not provide lucrative corporate positions and stock options for them, they do not lobby parliament with promises of riches in exchange for legislation. Above all, they are not part of the elite super-rich – Therefore they are simply faceless masses of plebeian scum as far as the Tories are concerned – they do not benefit them financially, and are thus worthless. Depriving them of vital income, and condemning these people to absolute destitution is a pure no-brainer as far as they are concerned. They don’t even have to think about it through, as they are dealing with ‘worthless human dregs’ – who gives a toss if they die of malnutrition, or kill themselves because everything they need to live has been taken away?

But do not think that this mindset applies only to the disabled, the poor, and the helpless… we are ALL considered as part of the same general pool of sub-human waste within the minds of these Tories, and they would discard us all with no more thought than some accountant erasing an errant line of figures from a balance sheet.

The ballot box provides no solutions. Only by rising up and overthrowing these hated, murderous tyrants will we be saved.

  32. Only by rising up and overthrowing these hated, murderous tyrants will we be KILLED most of us, especially with the means at hand to do this to their own people and also the scum authority workers that would help them.
Nevertheless revolution is the only way to go, because not one of those in the houses of parliament really give a stuff, so long as they are ok.

    • And how exactly do you plan to get this revolution started ??????

Got something in the pipeline ??????

    • Ergates Theant

Ah, but then I am not necessarily advocating ‘armed revolt’. Historical precedent has shown that violent revolution has rarely been an effective solution, though there are exceptions.

In most cases, replacing one set of aristocrats with the members of an angry mob, suffused with bloodlust tends to create very unstable, and ill-prepared new governments – ones which are easily subverted by power brokers within their ranks, eventually creating a new aristocracy, with similar contempt for the masses as the one they replaced.

All centralised governments eventually deteriorate into aristocratic forms – in fact no government in history has escaped the pattern.

      So what’s the solution?

Certainly our current bunch of Tory robber barons need to be removed from power, because failure to do so is simply going to doom us, and eventually create irrepairable structural damage to our nation that even the most progressive of Labour governments could never fix within the lives of current generations. How they might be removed from power is unclear. Armed revolts would simply be put down with deadly force, and would require the active cooperation of our own military and police turning against their own rulers (unlikely). Even then the result would be far from certain, and likely to fail, given the overwhelming power of our ‘US allies’, who would never tolerate a revolution in one of their colonies.

I personally believe the key lies in the ability to look beyond centralised rule from Westminster. Small, self-governing regions operating independently. How this might be achieved is open for debate, and there are certainly many non-violent/democratic paths available, but the forces working against us are considerable. Sadly I don’t have any easy answers and neither does anyone else.

In all of my 49 years of life, this is definitely the worst Government that I have ever known and also the worst ‘official’ opposition that I have ever known. If all this continues, this could be a total disaster for Britain.

  50. “NEW MENTAL HEALTH BADGE FOR GIRL GUIDES”

…….And an IRON CROSS for MAXIMUS staff, maybe?

Girl Guides across the UK will be able to take a new badge in mental well-being and resilience from early April.

The badge, “Think Resilient”, follows research showing nearly half of young women aged 17 to 21 in the UK have needed help with a mental health issue.

Guides themselves helped design the programme which will be delivered by young women.

    ………………meanwhile in the Boy Scouts

The Hitler Youth was a logical extension of Cameron’s belief that the future of Nazi Britain was its children. The Hitler Youth was seen as being as important to a child as school was. In the early years of the Nazi government, Cameron had made it clear as to what he expected British children to be like:

“The weak must be chiselled away. I want young men and women who can suffer pain. A young Britain must be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as Redcar steel.”

Nazi education schemes part fitted in with this but Cameron wanted to occupy the minds of the young in Nazi Britain even more.

separate occasions in the past three years. Chart 4.8 in Chapter 4
shows that relative to our first formal inclusion of spending on
universal credit in our December 2012 forecast, the rollout
schedule is now around three years later than expected. In 2016-17
we now expect 330,000 claimants on universal credit rather than the
6.1 million expected in our forecast three years ago.”

……………………these idiots are charged with examining the finances of this government and it’s expectations.

With figures like this, there is no wonder that Osborne is putting out the deckchairs on the Titanic……………

  53. “”CAN THE DWP SEE AHEAD?”

A WOMAN has told of her outrage after blundering benefits staff confused her husband being deaf with him being DEAD.

Norah Waite had called the Department of Work and Pensions to make an appointment to submit medical evidence on behalf of her ill husband David.

But when she gave his National Insurance number to the call handler, he asked if her husband had passed away.

She was later told a spelling error had been made and he was listed as dead instead of deaf.

We’ll be off to war soon.

The Army, here in the South, is taking part in a groundbreaking initiative – to try to help unemployed people find work. They’ve teamed up with the Department for Work and Pensions – to run a scheme called the Armed forces Employability Programme.

    http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2016-03-15/army-helps-unemployed-to-find-work/

    • I guess that is one way of reducing the number of people on benefits and lowering the yearly benefit bill. Put everyone out of work into compulsory Army Boot camp and after six months intial training get shipped out to a war zone and fight alongside regular army troops, knowing that IDS expects us to only come back home on condition we have been killed by a insurgent rifle attack.

IDS has been learning how to goose step in time and how to do the nazi salute during his weekend breaks with the Waffen S.S. We will be soon seeing Herr Smith on Sky News wearing the full uniform of the Gestapo, with a monacle hanging down from his eye-patch and displaying the Iron Cross on his jacket.

  61. Pension credit cuts linked to increase in death rates of over 85s, study claims
A sudden rise in elderly mortality five years ago could be result of austerity measures

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/pension-credit-cuts-linked-to-increase-in-death-rates-of-over-85s-study-claims-a6933271.html

    • .”PENSION CREDIT CUTS CAUSE 10, 000 MORE DEATHS PER YEAR IN ELDERLY”

………BUT HOW MANY DEATHS AMONG THE DISABLED AND POOR?

………Just reading the same article Sian……..

One thing is for sure, the Conservative head offices of the BBC and SKY will not be covering the article for fear of putting the truth forward for a change.

According to proper statistics, if there ever was such a thing, death rates amongst the 85’s have been slowly falling up until 2011 when they began to rise…………..
In 2013 death rates had risen 4% on 2010 among men and 6% higher in women.

The rises in death are directly linked to cuts in pension credits.

The government are aware of all the links to premature deaths and welfare cuts but prefer to hide behind political figures handpicked to hide the carnage.

Singly responsible for unknown thousands of deaths is the Freedom of Information Commissioner CHRISTOPHER GRAHAM who is content to carry on the biggest cull of human lives in post war history.

One man i would love to see hanging from a gallows is this loathesome bastard who couldn’t give two fucks about anybody but himself………

  62. Hidden Tax Credit Cuts Will Hit 800,000 Working People – But Hardly Anyone’s Noticed

Little-known about cuts to tax credits could see around 800,000 working people lose up to £300 a week, despite a promise from George Osborne that the in-work benefit would not be touched.

The Chancellor was forced to abandon plans to cut tax credits by £1,300 a year for 3.2 million working people in the Autumn spending review, but proposals to halve the ‘income rise disregard’ went ahead with very few commentators noticing.

Yesterday, MPs in the House of Commons voted to back the changes, by 272 votes to 228. The policy was brought forward in the form of a ‘Statutory Instrument’, rather than an ‘Act of Parliament’, which meant MPs were unable to debate the controversial measure.

ukrecruitmentnet (UJM spammer) is now trading under a new, different name and new website – activejob.co.uk, but currently has the same terms and conditions named under the old trading name. The postal mail drop has also been changed to a different street location in Glasgow.
