Yesterday the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, who claim to be an anti-poverty think tank, held their annual lecture. Coming at a time of soaring homelessness, brutal benefit sanctions and more cuts on the way you might have expected this event to discuss how to best resist, or at least mitigate the impact of what is to come.
You might have expected that. What happened instead was a speech by the leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party Ruth Davidson during which she set her stall out as a Tory who pretends to care about the poor in advance of the Scottish parliament elections in May. She was warmly received by the small gathering of poverty professionals who bothered to turn out for the lecture. She should have been fucking lynched.
Davidson began her speech with a frank description of how most in the Conservative Party view the poor – in essence that as long as markets are free and state support kept to a minimum then people only have themselves to blame if they fail to thrive and end up in poverty. But she is different she claimed. She understands that not everyone is born equal, that the free market is actually rigged in favour of the rich from the day they are born and that some people might struggle to prosper under cut-throat capitalism. The conclusion to be drawn from this is clear – poverty does not happen because poor people are somehow deficient human beings but because disadvantage and inequality are structural consequences of the current economic system.
Of course then she launched into a gushing rant about all the wonderful charities she has visited and what wonderful work they are doing fixing poor people. She wants to see lots more of this she declared as her concerns about structural poverty vanished into thin air. She wants more funding for do-gooders, not more money for the poor. No wonder the assembled voluntary sector managers gave her such a welcoming reception.
One of her big ideas is more mentoring schemes, echoing David Cameron’s pledge to create a new generation of mentors as part of an “all out assault on poverty”. Mentors have long been seen as the magical fix for the alienated youth ever since The Karate Kid was first released in 1984. It is an idea that chimes perfectly with the assumption amongst the wealthy that all poor people need is to meet someone rich who will teach them not to be poor anymore. They imagine sharp suited business people high-fiving inner city urchins over a Mcdonalds Happy Meal and dazzling them with tales of aspiration and entrepreunership. The reality is some golf club nonce sleazing round the local youth club for a while and then getting bored and giving up when they don’t get either a blow job or an MBE in the first fortnight. No mentoring scheme has ever worked and everyone in the anti-poverty industry knows it, but hey, it’s a funding stream, the gravy train must stay on track.
Davidson barely received a word of criticism for her views when questioned by the assembled delegates and JRF’s head toff Julia Unwin. But sadly this is of little surprise. These are the kind of modern, dynamic wankers who can drop long held principles at the drop of a hat. Fighting against the Bedroom Tax, workfare or benefit sanctions is so last year. Now it’s all about in-work progression and better targeted ‘support’ for the so-called hardest to help. Benefit sanctions in other words, for everybody. That’s why the JRF recently invited Tory stooge Matthew Oakley to write a report discussing the best way to introduce in-work sanctions to encourage people with jobs to strive harder. That’s the same Matthew Oakley who once worked at the Treasury helping to design Universal Credit, before moving to the right wing Policy Exchange think tank. Now he’s being paid by an anti-poverty organisation to come up with new ways to make people poorer. To help teach them not to be poor. It’s a fucking joke, and not a very funny one.
The benefit sanctioning regime which forms part of Universal Credit is horrifying. Those in and out of work alike will soon be condemned to survive on just a few pounds a week if they fail to meet endless Jobcentre demands to constantly look for more or better paid work. Those with jobs could see benefits intended to help with housing costs sanctioned for the first time. These sanctions can last a punishing three years and are not just aimed at the single unemployed but many on sickness benefits as well as those with young children. For some they will be a death sentence.
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation are intensely relaxed about all of this though. They have a whole section on their website where grinning latte slurpers warn that Universal Credit must come with ’employment support’ – the latest euphemism for workfare, benefit sanctions and Jobcentre harassment. Not one of these clowns will ever face the nightmare they have now decided to enthusiastically embrace on our behalf. Quite the opposite in fact. They are currently advising for a position that pays £75,000 a year, and that’s not even to be the boss. There’s good money to be made out of poverty for everybody except the poor.

How they have fallen! For many years ,in the late 80 till the 90s, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation building in Soho hosted, at nominal rents, groups such as the Socialist Society and….the Unemployment Unit – a research and campaigning group for the out of work.
Now they are, on this evidence. just the usual parasitical riff raff of the Charity Business.

JRF have been flirting with both Oakley and Policy Exchange since at least 2011, when then Minister of Work and Pensions Chris Grayling made his infamous speech warning about the danger to the UK economy of “…the Burmese, hairdressers and the Polly Toynbee Left” at a PE event at 100 Victoria Street.
The JRF rep was particularly vocal and given loads of leeway by Oakley who was chairing; probably because he was the only one of the 100+ present not asking specific questions about accessing the 25 different regional funding streams.
The two SolFed members that had also blagged their way in and I were reduced to shocked silence by the level of spittle inducing ranting against the poor from these overfed self-proclaimed “wealth creators”. Bastards.
I had a mentor, 13 years ago, still no better off now and that is not through the want of trying. It is a sign that things are going down hill for the morals of rowentrees, the people who once really cared are long dead.
This country could do no worse if it was inviting that slitty-eyed North Korean fruitbat over here to take over us all and make up clap in synchro at his latest “satellite” launch from an R.A.F base.
It won’t surprize if they did that.

It’s a real shame to read about the watered down Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Back in the day this organisation fought tooth and nail to get a fair deal for the poor. Now it appears to rub shoulders with class oppressors as though there is nothing wrong in our society.
Of course, blaming the poor is nothing new. The Tories have always blamed the poor because it lets the government off the hook. Equally, we have all seen the bullshit propaganda purporting to discredit the poor at every turn – think the Daily Fail and Channel Age 5.

universal credit is already in my area and has been for sometime, it was piloted here all it has done is made peoples situations worse and employment is no better excepting in statistics. That’s why I’m off employment benefits, that is why I still don’t have a job after 4 years of being off employment benefits. doesn’t solve societies problems, it just saves the government money, but I don’t think it even achieves that really. It is a very poorly devised social experiment and I am sure you already know all this. But while the rich are having a good time, they won’t care much what happens to us. Matthew wright on his show today was telling an old man who complained about bog off offers making things cheaper for families but everything is expensive for the single person – Matthew said find someone to share with, which is a reasonable request (if you are buying into the you can live for cheap bullshit), he is sat there doing nothing but gossiping with a panel of celebrities and getting well paid for it.
Perhaps he and the celebrities should learn to share their incomes (which are overestimated), by putting all incomes into one big pot and sharing it out amongst everyone, so that all get a good income, they will not need to buy bogoff then. Under Miliband Labour were supporting Benefit Sanctions and told me that they didnt think Sanctions were the biggest cause of poverty in UK today, but that unemployment is, adding that Sanctions were a vital tool on helping people into work. I do not know personally how to do this – but I am very sure that there are people out there who could very easily do it.
It’s quite simple really. In essence what brings a website down is the server getting too many requests for the information, i.e. the webpages hosted on it. It can be because, for example, a website suddenly, and without warning, becomes popular, but usually a website crashes because of what is called a DDoS attack, (Distributed Denial of Service) where someone uses the services of lots of computers to co-ordinate a sudden, all at once hit on a server, thus overwhelming it. To do this usually means hijacking other people’s computers, usually without their knowledge. This can be as part of an app that you have downloaded from a dodgy website. Deliberate DDoS attacks are against the law, but I guess that if there was a way of co-ordinating a time with all our friends to go and visit the site, that might make a difference?
A more sure-fire way of getting them to pay attention is a communications blockade, where you organise a campaign to e-mail them, send Tweets to them, or posting on their Facebook page, effectively swamping their social media. Setting up a campaign on 38 Degrees, or Sum of Us could also be a way of getting at them, so long as it is clearly pointed out to them that what they are considering isn’t very nice when looked at from our point of view. People such as those who work for the JRF are well-meaning, but usually from financially much better off backgrounds and whose knowledge of how poorer people live is too often very lacking. Plus, like far too many people, they tend to be political lemmings, and will only be too pleased if a Tory politician starts to say the things that appeals to them, and they won’t ask the right questions, such as what underlies that sudden interest on the part of the Tory politician… That’s where we come it, we can make the sense of cognitive dissonance so overpowering that they will not be able to ignore it. We need to explain to them, in clear and simple terms, what the effects sanctions have on us; what it means to have to try and live on a benefit that is underpaid by about 45%; how being sanctioned isn’t likely to make us more likely to get a job etc, etc. The kind of people who work for the JRF and other ‘do good’ agencies, are essentially reformers, who think that all that is needed is to get the ear of the government and try to persuade them to be nicer to poor people – and yes, it is as condescending as that.
The JRF hasn’t as far as I know, really bothered to listen to the people directly affected by the disastrous Tory policies, but that doesn’t stop us telling them!
No gruel or mean pottage for these rich fucking bastards. It seems that ‘pork’ is completely off of the menu – not a roast pig’s head in sight!

The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust has said it stands by a decision to give more than £250,000 of funding over six years to Cage, a human rights organisation whose outreach director, Moazzam Begg, was last week charged with terrorism offences.
Begg, a former Guantanamo Bay detainee who was held without charge for three years, was charged last week at Westminster magistrate’s court with providing terrorist training and funding terrorism overseas, in connection with the conflict in Syria.

Nick Perks, secretary of the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT), said that his organisation continued to believe in Cage’s work. He said that his organisation had looked closely at Cage’s work when it first allocated funding, and had decided that it did not support terrorism.
“We think what they’re doing is valuable,” he said. “There are still 155 detainees in Guantanamo, the vast majority of whom have not been charged with a crime.”
However he said his organisation was concerned to hear of the charges and was “closely monitoring the situation”.

Geoff – Well said. The ‘West’ is always trying to bring ‘democracy’ to these dictatorships. With my knowledge of it it could be argued that these countries really do not know what ‘democracy’ as such. For most of them, dictatorship, in one form or other is all that they have ever known.
Sometimes it is best to live with the devil you know than try to introduce another that you don’t! And then of course – there is OIL! (and the good old U.S. of A.)!
The west wants to try practicing democracy itself.

What grabbed my attention was the mention of expanding what they call
The Institute of Employability Professionals. which appears to be a newly formed Institute set up by the government.

It would appear from the downloaded report that the Government are looking to expand this Institute.
Within the Rowntree Report It speaks of the way it is attracting young graduates to train up to become employability professionals, mentors etc.
One example is the mention that after one year of training, they can qualify as Social Workers!!
There is also more in the report relating to this Institute and the governments plans for it.
Im wondering how big and far reaching this newly formed institute and its agenda will propagate.
Ive had a brief look at the website but you cant access any of the documents etc on it without first registering with them.
And registering appears to be highly vetted. One has to be a certain type, or already working in this type of area.
It just struck me how secretive it all is. What an Impressive Name. Implying so much! Words can be so influential and Deceptive.
My gut is telling me that this so called employability Institute is likely to be an important New player in the Governments Agenda.
I have no doubt that their agenda is more about Behavioral Change than Employability etc.
If anyone manages to find out more about this Institute, perhaps manages to register etc, then the info within the Website could be revealing etc.
The Institute of Employability Professionals is a trade body set up for workers in the welfare to work industry (A4e, G4S etc) to try and make sure they don’t join a proper union.
They don’t need unions they need interrogators.
Those at A4E, seetec, G4S are already interrogators.
I meant for themselves, so we can find out how to practice the dark arts.

I used to appreciate it when the foundation published the poverty figures that often appeared on the BBC News.
Oddly, i used to consider it strange that the Tory laden BBC gave airtime to the figures, given that they exposed the true face of the rich/poor divide and highlighted the plight of children.

I was watching the BBC housing enforcers this morning harassing an old woman tenant to have her garden cleared of weeds that were growing up her (snotty) neighbours fence, (the old ladies regular gardener had died).
Instead of harassing the old lady to find a gardener the big fat lump should have been offering to provide services for her better still offer his own services.
Then they had the case of landlords making a fortune overcrowding their houses with migrants to turn a quick profit, they forced their way into the house where the tenants were barely dressed, videoed them and were praised by Matt Allwright for fighting their way in.
Why doesn’t he go and force his way into and televise the real person’s house they should be filming – the bloody landlord?
The big fat lump from the council could have trimmed the old ladies hedge himself in the time that he spent harassing her, which is really what anyone with any ounce of decency would have offered to do anyway. Looked like he desperately needed some exercise too, would have done him the world of good.

The same “Sue Marsh” who took £75K to be “Customer Experience Consultant!, for Maximus. So her job must have covered accessiblity – ensuring many Test centres have no disabled access, and that there are many fewer centres than claimed in the contract, so people have to travel excessive distances for assessments. It should have included ensuring that the most inexperienced and unqualified “health professionals” are pig-ignorant of any aspect of illness and disability. She would have made sure that those “customers” (what a doublespeak for people who have absolutely no choice about their mandated attendance on fear of losing all lifeline benefits) all Customers with MH problems are treated like they have a personality defect of being “lazy” and should just go out to work to effect a miracle cure. She would also have been involved in the “customer experience” of being stripped of PIP mobility and personal care benefits, which we all know leads to the life-changing experience of being disabled, and isolated in one’s home and left without any care at all in some areas, when the LA can’t afford to provide even the basic care functions.
Oh yes, Sue Marsh, “Customer Experience” manager. On her salary I’m sure she’s one happy customer of Maximus.

That the “single unemployed” are less worthy as human beings and it is somehow OK to allow the “single unemployed” to starve to death. There should be NO fucking distinction when is comes to dishing out sanctions. The “single unemployed” are HUMAN BEINGS!!
The “single unemployed” are actually, in the eyes of the DWP, criminals. We are being accused of commiting crimes for simply being out of work through no fault of our own.
And what do the tossers give us? Bloody work programme and work experience. Which is as good as stomping on a rattlesnake and not expecting it to bite us on the ass with its venomous fangs in revenge.
The single unemployed paid full tax and stamp for their benefits out of one income not two. They also have to pay all bills (water is the same no matter how many are in a house, but meters end up more expensive) gas and electric, you still need to heat your place but those who use less pay more for their heating before any discount kicks in after using a number of units. Families use more units so get a little help with tariffs, not that anyone is advocating reducing benefits for families God forbid, they are on low enough incomes.
If the single get to go on holiday they have to pay extra for a room.
If they drive a car, they pay the same for petrol as a family driving 4 people around. It all adds up.
All civil servants, MP’s and government officials only want our vote during an election just to get them into a cushy job with loads of money and gold-plated pension scheme. Whomever gets in power in councils or government quickly forget about the people who voted them in and turn a blind eye to those in need of help.
We don’t matter to them, and as the silent majority we have to suffer while our rights, privacy, money, jobs and houses are lost to the greedy few.
Sometimes it seems that the “fight” is really just about obtaining exemption sanctions and the effects of welfare cuts from “vulnerable groups” and if this is ever achieved all these campaigns will die a death, this blog will shut up shop, and the “single unemployed” will be left to starve to death on the streets and none of these “vulnerable groups” will give a shit since they have achieved what they set out to achieve through through the struggles of the “single unemployed” and they are now “All right, Jack”. Is this what this is REALLY all about?
Your right, the sick and disabled are now being told there is nothing wrong with them, they are also being pushed into this scapegoat group. I personally care about everyone. Of those millions of vulnerable people, the single and unemployed are also vulnerable, financially vulnerable, those millions of people aren’t just a number they are all suffering people, while the government just plays with numbers, and looks to agree which numbers should they show, divide them up into the undeserving and the deserving, but they are all deserving. They put those that are not claiming benefits in the group that are in work. I no longer claim out of work benefits so I am according to government in work, despite not having a paid job for 11 years.
What use are single unemployed people to anyone? ….. it is not like they have got kids or anything…. single unemployed are big enough to look after themselves…

Under Miliband Labour were supporting Benefit Sanctions and told me that they didnt think Sanctions were the biggest cause of poverty in UK today, but that unemployment is, adding that Sanctions were a vital tool on helping people into work. Hence I didnt vote Labour. I recently contacted them to ask if they’d changed their minds yet, but they didnt bother to reply. I’ll take that as a NO then.

It’s a real shame to read about the watered down Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Back in the day this organisation fought tooth and nail to get a fair deal for the poor. Now it appears to rub shoulders with class oppressors as though there is nothing wrong in our society.
Of course, blaming the poor is nothing new. The Tories have always blamed the poor because it lets the government off the hook. Equally, we have all seen the bullshit propaganda purporting to discredit the poor at every turn – think the Daily Fail and Channel Age 5.

I am afraid that charities have always played with the poor. Going back to Victorian times the charities have always rubbed shoulders with the rich elite and hung on to the ear of governments .Charities have always been willinjg to take a few crumbs from the government table and in turn have been only too willing to do the bidding of governments,

Went to the “jobsfair” this morning at my local morgue (JCP) and the same old usual rubbish and no-jobs on offer again as previous. I only went today as for once there was a real chance of a proper job available, even though it’s part time but anything better than the load of old cobblers on UJM.
The thing is though, it seems that everyone else in my town out of work is also after the same bloody job roles I put my name down for. Bloody layabout chavs only doing that because they have either been threatening with sanctions or are already on sanctions for being lazy cunts.
I only hope that later today I do get a phone call from the company offering these jobs, that I get booked in to interview tomorrow for the role I put down for. If not, I will be livid that some snotty nosed chav with no shop experience will probably be offered above someone like me who knows shop work inside out.

Geoff – I saw a recording of PMQ’s earlier this evening and again I was disgusted by Cameron’s and a lot of the MP’s behaviours.
Cameron was his usual ‘top-man’ bombastic arrogant self who would not answer questions, or twist questions, or bring up the ‘mess that was left from Labour for them (the Tories) to correct’. The background barracking at times was awful and The Speaker, John Bercow, could only just hold it all together.
(Its high time that he started to eject MP’s from the HofC that will not shut their mouths up and behave).
That poor lady that you mention above scored 0 points – it is unbelievable, but yet unfortunately it IS believable. The so-called ‘health professionals’ should never ever be allowed to carry out such assessments.Cameron had the audacity to say about his ‘disabled son’ in response. He never answered the question as usual, but I would bet £10000 (if I was a betting man, which I’m not!) that he (Cameron) has never ever attended a Tribunal and will also probably ever do so in the future.
(I did also notice that IDS who was there in the usual sidelines previously promptly vanished before this question was raised. I have said before and I will say again, this ‘man’ is not only a callous, psychopathic murderer, but he is also a COWARD.

Geoff – I saw a recording of PMQ’s earlier this evening and again I was disgusted by Cameron’s and a lot of the MP’s behaviours.
Cameron was his usual ‘top-man’ bombastic arrogant self who would not answer questions, or twist questions, or bring up the ‘mess that was left from Labour for them (the Tories) to correct’. The background barracking at times was awful and The Speaker, John Bercow, could only just hold it all together.
(Its high time that he started to eject MP’s from the HofC that will not shut their mouths up and behave).
That poor lady that you mention above scored 0 points – it is unbelievable, but yet unfortunately it IS believable. The so-called ‘health professionals’ should never ever be allowed to carry out such assessments.Cameron had the audacity to say about his ‘disabled son’ in response. He never answered the question as usual, but I would bet £10000 (if I was a betting man, which I’m not!) that he (Cameron) has never ever attended a Tribunal and will also probably ever do so in the future.
(I did also notice that IDS who was there in the usual sidelines previously promptly vanished before this question was raised. I have said before and I will say again, this ‘man’ is not only a callous, psychopathic murderer, but he is also a COWARD.

There are some businesses that thrive on poverty, and Poundstretcher is one of them. Poor people shop there because it is cheap – and one reason it can be so cheap is that people are forced to work there for free or lose their benefits, under the DWP’s Mandatory Work Activity scheme: probably some of the same people who they rely on as customers.
Last week one of our SUWN activists was told to report to Poundstretcher in Dundee this morning, along with a group of around 8 other people on JSA. He was not happy, and yesterday he delivered a letter to Learndirect who arranged the placement. This made clear that it was not reasonable, even in their own terms, to expect a skilled IT engineer who had been unemployed only 9 weeks to do a placement designed to ‘develop disciplines associated with employment’. It also pointed out that stacking shelves at Poundstretcher does not comply with the Mandatory Work Activity Provider Guidance requirements that placements are of ‘community benefit’ and ‘not at the expense of employing workers in the open market’. Poundstretcher serves no community function, and their employees have been refused a request for more hours. However it was made clear to him that if he didn’t turn up he could be facing a 13 week benefit sanction. So, this morning, he duly checked in – and we duly set up a protest with banners and chants outside the gates.

I have already done this shite under a different name at least 3 times before but they say I still have to go and lied by trying to tell me it was a different course. They are also making me go in to daily sign after the course ends despite the fact I did this for months as well post WP. Yet they are making me do all this time wasting claptrap again!
I am being told a litany of lies and keep tripping my advisor up after virtually their every sentence and the harassment has escalated over the past couple of weeks for this reason. No good complaining to any senior/managers in there as they are ALL in on it and lie through their teeth to me all the time.
I DEMAND everything in writing yet they repeatedly refuse and immediately change the subject and turn everything around big time to criminalise me and making a scene to deliberately attract the attention of security to make out I am the one causing the scene, yet if couldn’t be further from the truth as they hate the fact I am firm but very calm and know my rights.
You have to see it to believe it as they scurry around spouting irrelevant rubbish from the CC and other paperwork twisting the terms and conditions and blag their way out to suit themselves.
As far as I am concerned she has no right to make me do either.
Interestingly, as I was leaving, I again demanded she put my daily sign (starting tomorrow AGAIN!) app in writing and refused so I said where does it say this in my CC. She started panicking and desperately got rid of me when security came over just by coincidence and threw down her telephone number on the back of the Work Plan booklet I refused to sign.
That in itself proves she was lying through her teeth again

If they don`t put it in writing then there is no commitment or no commitment in writing. Don`t get angry, stand your ground that until it`s in writing they are powerless to act on threats. Sounds to me like a load of phone threats – It`s all over the phone which means nothing except they try to trick you into contracts over the phone & they will fill in the signature for you.
Stepping – that’s interesting – if they use the tactics of ‘filling in the signature for you’, well technically that is fraud – a potentially criminal offence! If they did this to me then I would try to pursue a case of fraud against them!
(It’s the sort of thing that used to happen with the ‘agents’ from the big 6 (cartel of) energy companies – filling in potential customers ‘signatures’ for them and taking them from the energy firm that you were with to another energy firm (without your legal permission to do so)
Paul – Writing letters is a paper trial which the DWP don`t want. You might get a letter with ESA50 that is really a Maximus letter that has no Bar Coding or official DWP stamp. As stated the ESA is a questionnaire not a form. So no DWP responsibility !!!

There are two OPPORTUNITY notification letters that the Jobcentre use, although they don’t tell you. One of them doesn’t include a threat to your benefits which means that at least technically if you don’t turn up they can’t stop your benefits. And in any case, if your benefits are at stake they are required to include a warning.
The notification you have received though is the MANDATORY one. Your benefits WILL be affected if you do not attend.

Since there is no signature on the ESA50 it will be processed. The problem Maximus & the DWP forget is that the ESA50 is a public questionnaire [Bullshit form] & receipt of the form means you are on the books of Maximus. Whilst this is indeed an ‘exciting’ development made by the Americans, is it really so important (198,000,000,000 light years away or whatever!) that this story should overshadow the ‘much more important’ ‘imposition’ of the ‘New Contract’ on the junior doctors?
Our NHS is probably one of the most important institutions that us British people have, (especially as one gets older) and it should be supported by everyone at all costs. (Of course, we all can see what is going on – (apart from the baa, baa, ignorant sheople!) the Tories just want to privatise it – hence why Jeremy Cunt ‘wants people to suffer and die’, so that he can then conveniently ‘blame’ the junior doctors for striking and rightfully standing up for their rights).
His probable aim is to ripen the NHS up for ‘privatisation’ – hand the remaining contracts to ATOS, MAXIMUS,
CAPITA, G4S, G4E, AMERICAN HEALTHCARE & UNUM INSURANCE SERVICES (and a whole host of ‘non-qualified healthcare professionals’ and foreigners) and let these criminals take over. We would have to pay what is asked, or suffer in silence, or die – what a shameful situation.

Animals get better treatment at the vets than us humans get at the doctors. If your dog, cat or pet gerbil for that matter shows symptoms, and you take it to the vet, the vet will investigate, diagnose and if a cancerous growth is found the animal will be operated on immediately.
On the other hand if a human being presents symptoms of cancer or any other disease for that matter to the doctor the will be fobbed off, and fobbed off even more until the cancer or whatever has taken hold and it is too late. Seen it happen over and over again.
The NHS always has been ropey and is only set to get worse.
The NHS was only ever set-up to patch up the broken down machines, and place them back on the production line until it is no longer economically viable to effect a repair. Then the broken down units are sent to the knacker’s yard. Someone, somewhere at sometime has worked out that it was cheaper to patch up the current productions units than the cost entailed in producing new units, and so the NHS as born.

The unfortunate thing is though, if these junior doctors should up-sticks and push off to other jobs elsewhere – there is going to be even less ‘doctors’ to go round. The NHS as we know it is already in crisis – lack of adequate funding, lack of staff, lack of staff morale, waiting times becoming ever longer, etc, etc.
It is only a matter of time probably before they start to privatise it more and more (not immediately – but over years and years gradually)
We will then have not only paid into the system, but we will then have to have a valid ‘insurance policy’ and/or a valid credit card – or, just as in Victorian times and up the when the NHS was formed – you either ‘paid the doctor’ or you suffered/died in abject misery and sometimes terrible pain. I for one certainly do not like the idea of this ‘payment’ system returning.
Nobody wants to return to the ‘payment’ system, even America wants a NHS like ours, well Obama does, but what we have now is no good either and threats from JUNIOR doctors sounds very selfish to me.
The only reason that these fucking ‘doctors’ can get away with this is that Medicine is the only ‘profession’ in which the number of entrants is strictly controlled. And it is the fucking BMA that is responsible for this.
The solution is to open the ‘flood-gates’ for those who wish to study for a career in medicine. Give working-class kids a chance to become doctors and let these middle-class knobheads fuck off. There is no shortage of people willing and eager to train as doctors. Incidentally, doctors are amongst the thickest students at university; only surpassed by the Law faculty.
Medicine, because it is mostly laboratory-based is the most expensive courses for hard-working class taxpayer funded universities to provide.
Make these middle-class contribute to the costs of their tuition and if they want to fuck off abroad or work in the private sector, or for Maximus etc. make them pay back the full cost of their tuition.
Are dentists striking too, because dental surgeons in hospitals must be in short supply too, the length of their waiting lists.

But apart from expressing sympathy with “Stephen Carré’s family and friends” and calling for improvements to the work capability assessment (WCA), Abrahams has refused to say anything about Duncan Smith’s role in the scandal, despite DNS showing her team clear evidence that ministers failed to respond to the report.

Stroke sufferer says DWP are ‘forcing him back into work’
Crewe man Michael Ashley says the DWP is forcing him back to work when he is unfit after a stroke
A CREWE man says he feels he is being punished for having a stroke because the DWP is forcing him back into employment when he is unfit.
Michael Ashley, who worked at Airbus in Broughton, had a stroke in December 2014 and now struggles to use one side of his body.
On occasion he has had ‘accidents’ where he has been unable to get to the toilet on time.
But, following a 43 minute health assessment to see if he is eligible for employment and support allowance (ESA) – the benefit which has replaced incapacity benefit – the DWP has just ruled he is fit to work.
Michael, who lives at his mother’s Davenport Avenue home since his stroke, said: “I can’t move my right arm much and pick things up or hold things like my phone. My right leg, from my knee down doesn’t work. I have to wear a splint to protect my ankle.
“My foot doesn’t move at all, I can’t even wiggle my toes, I also need a walking stick everywhere I go.
“I have accidents because I can’t get to the toilet quick enough.”
He said he fears the embarrassment of wetting himself if he gets a job.

A former squaddie has slammed the government’s attitude towards benefit claimants after he was left in limbo with his rent before undergoing a number of tests to find out why his is coughing and passing blood on an ever more regular basis.
“I have served my country and worked all of my adult life, paying into the system the entire time,” Michael Lynch told The London Economic. “It’s not that I don’t want to work, it’s that I can’t and this adding more stress to what is already an incredibly stressful situation.”
The 27-year-old from Southend, Essex, added that the test he faced when applying for Employment Support Allowance (ESA) – once known as Incapacity Benefit – was “set up for him to fail” and “deeply unfair to those unable to work”.
“I have no doubt that the it was designed this way because of pressure from the top of government,” he said. “I have no sympathy for those who are too lazy to work, or cheating the system, but after what I’ve been through, I can’t see how anyone could qualify. I can’t work; when I walk down the street blood gushes out of my orifices, how can you keep down a job with that going on?”
Mr Lynch said he had passed blood in his urine since the age of 18, when he also signed up and served as private in the Royal Logistics Corp in Germany.

A DISABLED Leighton Hospital worker is to meet MP Edward Timpson later this month after the DWP turned down her appeal to let her keep the Motability car she uses to get to work.
Jenni Dodd, who has been disabled since suffering a stroke at the age of just two years, has been left with paralysis down her left side and also has severe dystonia, which means her muscles go into spasm.
The 29-year-old mum of two is unable to walk very far – and has to drag one foot behind her when she does.
Now the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) has rejected her appeal to keep the car which has been specially adapted for her and said it must be returned on February 23.

Edith – With a name like your’s, you are probably a pensioner anyway, so you have no need to worry at all. If you are on DLA (as very many pensioners are also!) then you, as a pensioner are totally protected and your award will not change and you will not have to be ‘assessed’ ever again.
If you were in this lady’s position – I think that you may think somewhat differently. She had a job and they have taken her car away – the DWP say that they are trying to get ‘people into work’, but, by their very actions in this (and many other cases), – they are actually causing disabled people who have jobs to lose them.
People who are sick should not be forced to work, but those that choose to and cannot get around without a car should get the allowance for it, so too should those that need one but are not working.
But what about those who have chosen to sit on their lazy backsides stuffing their faces with junk food, drinking and smoking, becoming diabetic etc. And they have never paid into the system to boot? Should these useless lazy fuckers be given a brand-new Nissan Qashqai at hard-working taxpayers expense?
You are putting the cart before the horse here. Some people are fat because they are ill rather than just plain lazy. Welfare comes out of National Insurance not tax, but those earning the most usually try to get out of paying either.

Tenant Evictions Reach Highest Level On Record
A total of 42,728 households in rented accommodation in England and Wales were evicted by bailiffs in 2015, official figures show – the highest number since records began in 2000.
Housing campaigners blamed welfare cuts and the shortage of affordable homes for the 2% rise in repossessions over the year, revealed in figures from the Ministry of Justice. More than half the evictions are thought to have been by private landlords.
The MoJ’s data showed that the number of rented properties repossessed fell in the final three months of the year, to 9,775. The previous quarter saw 11,269 households lose their home.
The figures show that the number of evictions increased by 53% over the five years from 2010, to the equivalent of more than 250 a day.

China has one of the largest populations and industry, that is why it can produce more than other countries and is why we cannot compete, but that does not stop those running our and other countries trying to.
They do this by immigration,rigging markets, selling real estate, financial services, education and cosmetic surgery etc at inflated costs to make themselves rich and to make other nations think we are a rich country, when the majority of those in this country are slaving away and getting very little in return.
A night out for the worker used to be attainable by the majority of the working class, not anymore, so hiked up is the price of everything not to mention the fact that you have to pay for taxi’s on top that is why places of enjoyment and leisure for the workers are closing at an alarming rate along with their jobs.

It’s a case then of ‘them’ and ‘us’ – again a standard ‘divide and conquer’ strategy.
In our eyes most families consist of individual people who, look after their family, go to school. look after the sick ones and the disabled ones, and look for work even though it is impossible, those you try and make it at their own businesses, or if lucky have a decent job, with decent hours and a decent wage. That is a hard working. But the government sees different, you are only an hardworking family if all individual members work slave hours for slave wages, if any wage at all.

News this morning of the government’s failure to listen to its front-line employees in the NHS is unsurprising, but felt with a heavy heart. I am tired: I am tired of fighting this unsafe and unfair contract. And I am frustrated: I am frustrated that we are not been listened to by our employer. But mostly I am fearful: if Mr Hunt continues to proceed with this imposition, then I fear that this will be the beginning of the end of our much-loved NHS – not to mention a threat to the safety of innumerable patients.
Throughout this scandal it is fair to say the majority of us have felt insulted by the patronising nature of Mr Hunt. We are highly educated and well respected members of society. The majority of us would never dream of misinterpreting data for our own gain, especially if we are aware that the consequences would cause great harm to patients. Mr Hunt’s claim that we are only against the contract because of the BMA is quite frankly insulting and absurd.
Some believe that we are fighting for our pay and for our right to a family life, but we are not. This is not our primary reason. We are fighting for patient safety and the survival of our beloved NHS. If a contract is imposed upon us, it will be the death knell for an institution we hold very dear to our hearts

This is a very good attempt at trying to cover up the truth of what has actually occurred – but, the truth still stands that (as some of the Coroner’s reports have indicated) a number of these deaths were directly due to the unnecessary stopping of benefits, benefit sanctions and also other ‘actions’ directly being taken by this out of control and rogue Department of Works & Pensions, of whom he, Iain Duncan Smith, the Secretary of State, is the head of it and therefore, the blame must lie at his door. The staff of the Department of Works & Pensions (carrying out his orders) and also the private companies and the ‘health professionals’ who work for them, are probably also equally culpable in law.
All of them are either directly, or indirectly responsible for these poor unfortunates taking their own lives.

The NHS at the moment is a nightmare and litigants who try to fight the health trusts in court get nowhere, local governments are the only ones that can afford a legal team to back them.
Any treatment worth having has been delegated to the private sector anyway now and if you can’t afford it tough.
This is what the strike should have been about, not weekend working or pay, long shifts should be a no, no for them, especially as they are not qualified enough to start with.

George Osborne is the weak link in the Conservative party hierarchy. He’s unpopular with the public – which was highlighted when he was booed at the Paralympics and Star Wars premiere – and he appears increasingly unpopular with his own Conservative MPs. Here are five reasons he could be the person that brings the Tories down:
Osborne announced in his spending review that he would start cutting the finance that opposition parties receive by 19%. This was seen by George Eaton of the New Statesman as a way to “weaken the opposition and reduce accountability”. In December, Eaton declared that many Conservative MPs were against Osborne’s undemocratic proposals. David Davis described the cuts to Short money as: “the wrong thing to do”.
Now, Osborne has been forced to backtrack due to the likely Tory rebellion. As the Political Editor of the Sun, normally supportive of the Conservative party pointed out, Osborne is “not having a great winter”. If he continues to upset his own MPs, he could be in trouble.

Is this a ‘coincidence’ or is it not? BBC News 6′ o’clock this evening LED with a story ”In The Mind” about ‘Mental Health Issues’ – this ‘story’ lasted for no less than 13 minutes! (including an interview with Fiona Bruce and David Cameron) followed by a story about Syria. It all seems a little odd to me!
As you have probably gathered by now – I do not trust the BBC (in their reporting) and I certainly do not trust Sky. Far too much Tory Government apparent ‘interference’ and/or ‘bias’.
For the whole of this week it seems, the BBC is going to highlight ‘mental health issues’. Is this some kind of ‘cover-up’ as to what is happening?

A terminally ill man from Southcote says he feels “totally broken” after the Government decided to slash the benefits which he depends on.
After eight years of suffering from an mysterious illness Jason Henry, of Granville Road, was diagnosed with Castleman’s lymphoma at Royal Berkshire Hospital in 2013.
He was then granted a disability living allowance by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to help him retain his independence while undergoing aggressive chemotherapy.
But according to Jason, after months of intensive treatment he was told that his condition is terminal and on Wednesday, February 3 the DWP announced that his disability living allowance would be cut.
The 44-year-old, who is known as Jake by his friends, was then granted personal independence payments (PIP), but he sees these smaller payments as insufficient and insists he cannot remain independent or mobile.
He said: “I just feel totally broken, that money enabled me to get out of my flat, be mobile and be part of my community. Without it I am stuck inside and can’t see my friends or be part of society.

I visited my local Jokecentre in search of some part-time work in my speciality (I’m retired) and the adviser told me I had to look on Universal Jobcrap (his words). Looks like the Jokecentre only deals in sanctioning as the jobs are only posted via agencies – more taxpayers’ money used to line the pockets of private companies. I understand that looking on the board for a job finished 15 years ago so I can see how the Tories want to close Jokecentres as sanctions can be imposed by letter.

Geoff – Surely now, with this level of apparent ‘covering-up’ they know that litigation is on the cards for them. They are desperate to cover up their own deaths and also cover for their despicable boss – Iain Duncan Smith.
There is also the outstanding issue of them not coming up with the information requested by the Information Commissioner.
He himself I would have thought could be letting himself open for litigation against him. He is not (seemingly) pursuing this matter with the DWP – and surely now he may be answerable to a charge of ‘Dereliction of Duty in Public Office’, or something similar to that.

When i was a lot younger, in my teens, i visited a small stately home near where i live.
My girlfriend was friendly with the occupants daughter who had a hoity toity name and so did her brother.
The parents had a double barrelled surname and they spoke with a mouthful of marbles……………….
Their ancestral home was a fucking filthy shithole, the kitchen a disgusting mess and cat piss stains everywhere. When you left you itched and longed for a bath. The lord of the manor could not control his alcoholism and everyday he would collect his princely pocket money from the local post office.
Empty bottles of wine and sherry littered the living quarters and he always wore beige cavalry twill trousers bearing piss stains like atlas maps.
His shirt and v necked jumper bore the remnants of his past meals, looking more like canteen medals.
Their home was open to the public, great big oil paintings of their family line adorning each wall, complete with the complimentary half inch of dust and cat fur stuck in the frames.
All guests avoided having a welcome drink. The kitchen sink was like a navvies toilet and the cups having more chips than Mccains.
When the parents spoke i had to look away, they were always pissed and stammered terribly. One day his fly was down and half his pubes hanging out. It was just like a comedy script, honestly you would have laughed your heads off if you were to come upon them……………

Basically, it means the woman can accuse the man of being “aggressive” , like the jobcentre do, call the cops (Police State Scotland), invariably the man will be “asked to leave”. The woman then obtains an injunction, if the guy comes within 20 miles of the woman, (children) , or his now former home he will be arrested and thrown in the slammer. The cops will also make the situation known to the man’s employer. In any case, the man will be charged, refused bail and thrown in the slammer on remand. So he will be homeless and out of a job in any case. The man will then have to appear in front of a specially-convened “Domestic Court”. He wont receive any legal aid, but the woman will be surrounded by a team of highly-paid lawyers, social workers, and man-haters and hairy-arsed lesbians from Woman Against Men and other bullshit organizations which will receive funding from the politically correct councils, the same council who throw families onto the street who fall back on their council tax payments which the council urgently needs to spunk up against the wall on anti-man ‘initiative’s. In any case, it wouldn’t have made any difference since “Domestic Violence” courts have a 100% conviction rate, kind of like China or some despot regime. The guy will be found guilty and thrown in the slammer. The woman will instruct a solicitor to seize the property he has worked his nuts off to pay for, she will be awarded alimony, he will never see his children again, but he will pay for them. The woman is now free to move her lover into the former matrimonial home.

LS: Both the things in there are very recent, yeah, for me. Saul had this disco idea, the melody was down, and I wanted to write something about heroin because in the past five years pretty much everybody I know has started banging on heroin at some point. That was a new thing – the first album it wasn’t around, it just wasn’t there. I hadn’t seen anybody smoking it, and then very, very suddenly everybody’s smacked out all the time. I guess that’s people getting older, looking for harder drugs, or the fact it’s a tenner a bag. All of a sudden everybody’s on smack and you’re reading these stories in the paper and it’s just like… So that song has these two sections, like ‘The Whitest Boy’. There are two voices there – it’s finding the right thing to offset the other.
You make an almost physical connection, between the death of Clapson [who died after his benefits were sanctioned in 2014] and people you know at parties, taking heroin.
LS: Yeah, there’s some sort of physical connection as well as a socio-political connection, between all these young people who are swamped in hedonism and dirty old drug abuse, and then your guy who’s tried everything [to make his life better] and he’s knocking at the window, like the ghost of Christmas future or something. It’s much more explicit, that one.
And it’s explicitly about what’s happening in this country, now, not something 70 years ago that’s maybe been romanticised.
LS: Yeah. I definitely wanted to get David Clapson on there. I’d written a poem about him and I just cut it out of that. I had a longer version of it. I had the tinfoil thing which I started writing later on, and they just seemed to sit nicely next to each other with that break in sound, when it all of a sudden drops down. That vision. It’s writing to the music, getting the tone right. At what point do you introduce the nightmare? That contrast, that ride in the same tune. You’re going to a few different places with this song – that’s the ambition I had with it.

WalMart is evil. They operate a WalMart economy in the U.S, being the biggest recipients of corporate welfare, with the majority of their staff on food-stamps, which they often have to spend back in the Walmart store they work in (the rightful name for this is indentured servitude). They treat their warehouse workers even worse, it’s common for them to have to sleep on site. They’ve a track record of using violence against workers who try to organise for better working conditions. It is a cheap attempt to distance themselves, (BOTH THE BBC AND DWP), from the mounting carnage of the mindsets of those that believe they have a right to a better way of life achieved by demonising others.
The focus of the programme is how the partner of a lost one can come to terms with the loss.
What it will fail to show is how a renegade tory government declines to accept that their insane welfare policies are claiming thousands of innocent lives.
One can never fully come to terms with the loss of a loved one. Every image and every sound is a constant reminder of an incomplete circle.
It can be compared to losing a limb. You are aware that it is no longer there but you feel it constantly…………

It’s official: Tory cuts to social services lead to ‘biggest rise in death rates since the war’
The Tories’ austerity programme has led to the biggest rise in death rates among the elderly for nearly 50 years. Advisers to Public Health England (PHE) warned that the 4-year trend may be the worst since World War II.
Data from the Office of National Statistics shows a 5.4% (27,000) increase in deaths in the past year alone, prompting calls for an urgent investigation.
PHE said the elderly were bearing the worst of Tory austerity cuts, with women suffering disproportionately because they live longer.
Professor Danny Dorling, from Oxford University, an advisor to PHE on older age life expectancy, said:
When we look at 2015, we are not just looking at one bad year. We have seen excessive mortality – especially among women – since 2012.
Figures show that the number of deaths had fallen steadily since the 70s, as should be expected, as our healthcare and technology advance. But since 2011, a year after the government began their austerity programme, deaths rates began to increase rapidly. The Conservatives are taking us back into the past with deep cuts, and the elderly are falling by the wayside.
Once other factors are considered, and longer periods examined, public health experts say the current trend is the worst since World War II.
