They will keep coming back for more and more if we let them. They will come for our homes, our pensions, our benefits, our health service, everything they think they can grab. Everything that working class people have won.
Don’t think having a job will save you. As the bungled attempts to cut tax credits shows, they don’t give a fuck about that anymore. If your wages are low, then tough shit, you obviously aren’t working hard enough is the new mantra from the rich. To be poor now, whether working or not, is a sin in itself and the only way for redemption is to be poorer, to teach us a lesson. They think this will make us like them – grasping venal capitalist scum, exploiting at every turn, fucking over our neighbours in a desperate scramble to hoard wealth for ourselves whilst around us bodies huddle in shop doorways. That is what they mean by being a striver. It is the morality of thieves, the worship of the worst of human nature. And it must be stopped.
None of this has happened by accident. The working class had to be broken before this capitalist coup could be enacted. This destruction of organised labour, the endless succession of petty laws, an obedient and ever ready to be violent police force, the erosion of living standards and housing, all of these were necessary to eradicate the kind of collective action of the scale that is needed to resist this attack. But the truth is that the class war is far from over. We are not broken, not by a long way. It is the pampered rich, who think their privilege is safe behind the walls we built, who are the real vulnerable ones. Their entire cosseted existence depends on us remaining compliant. That is why even the most trivial act of political disobedience or rebellion terrifies them. They are as scared of us building the level of resistance necessary as we are cynical about whether that can be achieved. But it can be done, history shows us that. And it will start in the fucking streets.
On Wednesday (4th November) students will be taking to the streets demanding free education. Thousands are expected to attend what promises to be a lively demonstration. The march will depart from Malet St, outside the former University of London Union, at 13.30pm. For more info visit the organiser’s website.
The next day (bonfire night, Thursday 5th November) will see the annual Million Mask March take place in cities across the globe with Class War promising to drag an effigy of Tory London mayor candidate Zac Goldsmith in chains down Whitehall. This event was huge last year and begins at 18.00 in Trafalgar Square. More details on facebook.
Finally on Saturday 7th November the Class War Women’ s Death Brigade will be back outside the vile and unwanted Ripper Museum on Cable Street, E1. Meet at the Cable Street Mural at 2pm and help drive this creepy bunch of gentrifying wannabe psychopaths out of the East End for good.
Please help spread the word about all events.

you love paradox maria, the impoverished are what’s left over from asset stripping….ie spent….the downward spiral, the downtrodden…the crushed the oppressed…
so they can get their own way? ah well you can oppress some people all of the time and you can oppress most people some of the time, but you can’t oppress all the people all the time, and you can’t oppress people forever.
no it means that they have got their own way and via ‘traditional methods’, many don’t even realize that they’re being oppressed ‘as it’s just the way it is’….!
Cameron has been on This Morning, insisting he knows some poor people, he sees them in his office. He probably means someone with less than a million in the bank.

OT: New W10 Probs for older PCs/Laptops
Reports of M$ changing settings and making install automatic so you cannot stop it are appearing.
Worse still during the install a number of PCs/Laptops have been Borked/Fracked/F&^%$D. Or more commonly known as ‘Bricked’. You now own a Brick doorstop. Oh and the T&C make it clear you the owner… Sorry Subscriber take on all the risk and expense. Enjoy.
W10 installs and writes to the BIOS [M$ doesn’t want other OS’s installed now does it….], when this happens the BIOS is Fracked – there is NO repair.
I never installed the infernal thing, do you really think Microsoft would ever give you something for free, without there being a huge catch?
I seriously considered installing W10, but decided there was too much danger of my computer getting hacked, spied on or bricked.
Perhaps it’s time to ditch Windows and install a proper operating system? And MS has never liked co-existing with other OSes, if you try to install Windows after another OS, it will re-write the boot loader so that you can only access Windows.
I suspect that much of your problem will be down to trying it install Windows 10 on an ‘obsolete’ computer (which has always been an issue with Windows, an upgrade of operating system has also usually meant an upgrade in hardware) so again you might be better off adopting a Linux distro as there are versions that will run on some very old, (and truly obsolete) hardware.
The great thing is that you have nothing to lose, you can burn a Linux distro to a CD, (or more usually these days, a DVD, such is bloat) or create a bootable USB that can be taken and used anywhere on almost any computer – great if you want to use a computer using stealth methods as there will be no record left of you ever having used that computer. There is a bit of a performance hit as you would be running entirely on RAM, but you can also install to the hard drive if you want, but the CD/DVD/USB option is great if you just want to try Linux out without making changes to your system.
No. Perhaps it’s time for bullshit Linux to support POWER SAVING properly. It NEVER does it well enough! Even on the most mainstream Intel/Intel/Intel hardware. This can end-up overheating your hardware, and physically-damaging it (OK, this is if it’s designed for Windows and has some thermal management built-into the driver or firmware and the Linux version doesn’t have that – but this is common nowadays).
Then there’s the dependencies issue where updating for security makes basic things break… OFTEN. Microsoft only do it rarely.
gazza I haven’t installed it and I have no intention of installing it, but what is BIOS?
my windows 7 works perfectly well
it is the computer booting system. But I wouldn’t upgrade to windows ten anyway. I tried 8 a year ago that annoyed me so much I went back to 7. Ten is just for social media, it simplifies, things and is more app centred. Plus I don’t really think it is free, when the deadline passes for free upgrades they probably start charging a monthly fee for it. I think you are right to stick to 7, I’m sticking to 7.
Maria – thanks for the info. I agree with you about sticking to 7. I’ve never tried 8, and 7 does everything it’s supposed to do. Our nearest computer shop guy told me 8 was not user friendly, which is why I opted for a pc which still had 7 on it. 🙂 … and it’s been fine for the likes of me, and it seems preferable to 8 by just about everyone. Thanks also for explaining about what 10 is for – I don’t use social media anyway. I also agree with you about the fact that it may not be free for ever even when you have done the free upgrade. The same computer guy also told me that windows 10 had been responsible for a lot of computers crashing – one more reason to stay clear of it.
It is free to upgrade – nowhere does it say it free for like forever. It is a like a ‘dating site’ that says ‘free to sign up’, or a supermarket that says: “free to come in and browse” lol
exactly I don’t trust it at all.
BIOS – Basic Input Output System, for ‘bread n butter’ stuff like setting which drive boots ‘starts’ first; if enable/disable USB ports that kind of stuff. You computer should say what to press to access it as it starts up, it is usually F10.
its delete on mine you have quickly read it before it boots up what to press, usually I miss the time for it and have reset, its a nusenise getting into it but very helpful when you do, but if you don’t know what you are doing I shouldn’t change anything, get a book or use the internet to find more about it before you try.
It will flash up something set up ” F10/delete” and gives you like a nanosecond to press it before it starts booting into Windoze and you have to force it off and switch on again 🙂 You have to be fast on the draw. Easy to mess up your computer if change the wrong thing. Though not as bad as messing around with the hidden ‘service menu’ on a TV. TV > brick 😦 lol 🙂

Freed from flak for cutting tax credits, IDS turns up the charm

DWP refuses to look at whether benefit sanctions damage mental health.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/dwp-refuses-to-look-at-whether-benefit-sanctions-damage-mental-health-a6718206.html
Why have they used a picture of Benny Hill.
Arrrhh, ment to reply to this one.
Because they know they do cause people to have mental illness, or that it goes worse if they have it anyway and just don’t really care, as long as the funding goes down. As long as it doesn’t cost them money they are ok with it.
Maria, they are all mentally ill themselves, personality disordered pig shagging psychopaths.
True, I wonder then will they be taking online CBT too.
Johnny Void – another brilliant article – telling it like it really is. Let’s hope that the demos go ahead and that they are huge and hard hitting.
It’s a shame that they could’nt get an effigy of IDS and do the same to that heartless and cruel psychopath – preferably like in medieval times – and use a hurdle – drag it and ‘him’ up to Tower Green (or somewhere similar – I do not know London at all!) and ‘hang, draw and quarter him’ – to tumultumous applause by the grateful populace/demonstrators.
This is an idea I would like to suggest – please publicise this any way you can and although it is late – given the will it could still be done!
I doubt if Sky/BBC would film any of it though! – not Tory enough for those bastards to cover!
Channel 4’s Despatches Britain’s Benefits Experiment was good. Included problems with in-work conditionality, sanctions, self-employment, tax-credits, all the things we’ve been saying for years.
http://www.radiotimes.com/episode/dtrm9m/dispatches–britains-benefits-experiment-channel-4-dispatches
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/dispatches/on-demand/62079-001
AFM I thought that, finally programmes telling it like it really is, maybe when everyone who is low paid, and there are many of them, will look what they are doing to the unemployed the sick and disabled as well, then people in this country will have a full picture of what has been happening in this country, I think the Tories will eventually hang themselves with their own rope anyway.
Yep, just saw this myself tonight, for a moment I thought it wasn’t going to even highlight half the problems…. but was pleasantly surprised. Also, didn’t know that Concentrix are causing problems for people. Sounds like a mirror of the sanctions regime.
The name rang a bell.

Apparently staff are being pressured to create 30-40 cases a day or something, and aren’t finding the time to ‘prove’ their accusations basically. In other words, absolutely disgusting! It’s really just a duplicate of the JC sanctions regime. I hope Corbyn knows about this!
Another Fine Mess
Watching now – interesting the conumdrum of hours that you can get against what hours possible to get is not addressed, except for a sanction being applied by DWP that is, also what if there are no jobs in the reachable area? Who is liable if an individual takes a job far away and suffers an accident – that would be dwp. Further it is targetting those on Zero Hours Contracts, the same thing dwp has been forcing people to take – catch twentytwo time. Classic in work ring in, gets threat sanctioned for not going into dwp office – done what they wanted to do but dwp insisted on considering a sanction [catch twentytwo time].
So on min wage – no other work available, how is this miraculous new job going to come from
9 out of 10 dwp staff cannot get extra work [out of 300 mind] – so question becomes taking that ratio across the country this means that 1 out of ten will get [temporarily i suspect get extra work]. What about the rest? Sanction time.
Self employed will have their earnings ASSUMED to be at Nat.Min.Wage level after 12 months and if not declared un-viable. It is worth noting that if they could increase their earning they would but currently cannot nor is there any likelyhood of that happening in the near future which puts them in a difficult position. These are the people dwp encouraged/forced to become self employed and are in majority of cases earning below min.wage – cutting Tax Credits is in effect a sanction. So DWP forces you, then punishes you. Lovely.
Anyone else see that the system IS going to collapse and fast? The hate that is going to be directed at DWP and ConCons is going to reach a level never seen before – worse than poll tax, poll tax never made people starve. This is really really not going to end well.
Oh and the Kicker is UC cannot accomodate Zero Hours Contracts so a possible scenario:
Work, get extra hours, Tax Credits reduced, next period no work all of a sudden, but get over paid [it is predicted over/underpayment is going to effect most on zero hours contracts] and suddenly getting no money in.
Or swap it around and get overpaid tax credits which is then clawed back and you’re still left with no money at all when getting no work via zero hours contract.
Repeat ad infinitum…
So stuck in absolutely nuts situation you cannot get out of.
I don’t know why they waste time and tax-payers money piloting/trialing these crackpot IBS ideas, we already know the results. Nearly everyone threatened with sanctions got higher pay and more hours simply by asking their ’employer’. And the self-employed struggling to make a profit, were easily able to increase their earnings to £550 per week, and it’s fairer for the tax-payer(during the hours they’re open :)). So it will be rolled out everywhere, to add to the other 8,254 highly successful schames.
With so many fantastically successful schames running, the only question is why is everyone getting poorer, as the UK economy goes down the plughole.
This was a good programme. Confirmation was even given to the fact of JCP staff being hit themselves by in-work sanctioning, as many who read this blog regularly may also have remembered whilst watching (it seems ages ago I remember reading a post on that very occurance!) It was said in the documentary that staff in receipt of UC would visit a different (non-closed) Jobcentre from the one in which they worked to get sanctioned, or be patronised with a ‘challenging’ conversation about getting up more non-existent hours.
Even as somebody who has been sanctioned by the jobcentre I cannot glory in this as some people will do, the objective reality I know is one of the same fighting for some kind of economic survival, where the ultimate shelling out of JCP for privatisation is helping neither one of us – the target is the regime and the Tories. Schadenfreude won’t get any of this back.
Good post again JV. Agreed with every word. Clearly the oppressed working class in the UK needs to get off it’s fucking knees and make a stand against our capitalist scum government. Enough is enough. We need some anarchy in the UK. Look at German students this week who revolted against their government over the introduction of tuition fees. They stood their ground against the government oppressors and won. All governments only win if the masses are weak, divided and unorganised. If German students can do it why can’t we?
“THE CBT CONTRACT”
The fucking with peoples brains contract will probably have been given to ATOS (THE PEOPLE KILLERS)
Hiding behind the name of OHASSIST, they have shown an interest in the contract.
Notwithstanding, they appear to want to continue the killing spree that they enjoyed before the DWP pretended to pull their contract.
Of course, this was just a cursory move after the quality of medical reports fell into doubt as those classified as fit for work, fell like flies.
P.S. There is no causal link between the 2380 deaths other than ATOS did the majority of them…………………
Remploy, now owned by MAXIMUS (YANKEE CROOKS) have also shown an interest, jealous that ATOS got all the prime killing jobs.

The Tories closed down Remploy factories and dumped thousands of disabled workers on benefits. This occurred two years ago and most of these people are still out of work. Given Geoff’s informative posts above, ATOS and Maximus are now queueing up to finally kill them off. We live in a really sick society where the disabled are simply treated like shit. Shame on those who have had any part in this tragic extermination process. MURDERING NAZI BASTARDS!!!
@shy
Thats absolutely correct, Remploy have been taken over by MAXIMUS ROADKILL, who intend to cash in on the forced free work initiative that will send more disabled to their early graves.
We have never been a compassionate society, just a society fuelled by greed……….
ATOS were given the big heave ho a few years back, but this was just a big con to appease the families of those who died and the ones suffering
from dodgy computer generated medicals done by pretend doctors brandishing shiny certificates only recognised by our secretary of state.
The DWP, in their own words, recognised the shortcomings and the quality of ATOS examinations, even going as far as telling decision makers to access ATOS medical data as a last resort in making decisions on benefit payments.
But alas, as the DWP were pretending to scold the disabled killers, they were sliding another £10.5 million to them under the table.
DWP see them as a safe investment based overseas at arms length from the huge litigation claims that will probably bankrupt the treasury.
Hence the huge contract awarded to MAXIMUS ROADKILL, another firm of crooks based overseas with a passion to rob and kill at will to fill the pockets of the private medical insurance industry.
BILL GUNNYEON chief medical officer of the DWP and ex president of the trick cyclists, The Faculty of Occupational Medicine, aided by the black witch, DAME CAROL BLACK , enabled the transition before landing himself a similar role for MAXIMUS.
What is more strange is that the faculty that i speak of are the same people that issued DDAM certificates that allowed untrained ex bedpan washers and physios to do medical reports for leeches like ATOS, CAPITA, SEETEC, MAXIMUS, et al…………….
As someone once said, “follow the money trail back to CARDIFF UNIVERSITY and it’s Biopsychosocial claptrap unit that was founded by Mansell Aylward, another ex DWP chief medical officer.
Incidentally the unit was funded by the giant UNUM CORPORATION OF AMERICA, disability deniers to the tune of countless millions of dollars in Yankee lawsuits for shafting the disabled.
Please read how Waddell and Burtons theories that were sponsored by UNUM Private Medical Insurance are used to facilitate the robbibg of our weakest, the documents introduced to parliamentary commitee by none other than LORD DAVID FRAUD, the failed banker, laughed at in the city, and asked to do studies on the role of disabled in the workplace.
Yes the same guy who refers to disabled as stock and thinks they should be made to work for £2 per hour. No wonder Remploy saw easy pickings, hence the move to purchase it by MAXIMUS.
Freud would get the thumbs down in Treblinka, never mind disability forums.
Thanks Geoff for supplying excellent information on these evil killers. I’m disabled and fear what my future is going to be like under the disgusting hands of ATOS and MAXIMUS.

don’t know if you have heard of it, but the way forward is the universal basic income -check out this link…
UniBI, I suggest that if you have no valid and constructive point to make that you fuck off and troll somewhere else. UBI isn’t sinecure for all social ills, but it is a sane alternative to Universal Credit which looks as if it was dreamed up by a crazed and deluded psychopath… Oh, wait, it was!
Seriously though, UBI makes sense on all sorts of levels, and right across the political spectrum. I don’t give a shit about the rich and powerful, but for poorer people a well implemented system of UBI would be empowering in so many different ways.
😉
Sibrydionmawr
If the UBI is for poorer people, then it should not be called UBI, because it would not have the universal element to it and would be means tested for those who need it and rightly so, which would not be much different to the system that we have now.
We are all just too thick to get out heads around UBI; it is only for those of a ‘superior intellect’ 😉
If it was means tested it would just be the same as the present system expect with the conditionality, sanctions, ‘work programmes’, workfare. But why do you have to give EVERYONE benefits, people that don’t even need it to achieve this and in the process diluting the spending power of benefits.
Unless you were going to claim back the UBI from rich cocksuckers through and increase in taxation.
On the surface UBI appears regressive as t appears to work to the detriment of the less well off; same as with VAT which Zac Goldsmith no doubt fully supports… 😉
* expect without the conditionality, sanctions….
excellent idea UBI troll, scrap conditionality and sanctions, now why didn’t eye think of that…!? and @ the same time double the basic payments ie jsa £140/wk cap and drastically reduce rents…..even build millions of new eco homes…. http://www.coe.int/t/dghl/monitoring/socialcharter/Conclusions/State/UKXX2_en.pdf

“the minimum level of state pension is manifestly inadequate;” unless topped up by Pension Guarantee Credit which is why PGC is currently just means-tested. As soon as anyone asks you how you are going to pay for your daft schemes you call them an austerity troll.
I suggest those who are wealthy and want more money on top are the trolls.
If there is no conditionality then some on benefits could still earn astronomical amounts on top while the sick, single parents and pensioners would be struggling on a basic pension.
Also those that are earning on top would be pushing inflation up for everyone else, as economics takes into account national spending then averages it out amongst people who have no spending power other than the basics.
Economics and markets distort the true facts. Capitalism is foxy.

It is truly fucking astonishing that we have commenters arguing for the end of conditionality, sanctions, workfare, and ‘work programmes’. And who are also arguing for a ‘doubling of the dole’. You know, the exact policies of the Class War Party which this blog supports. How long do you think a Class War government would take to rid the social security system of all the shit? And all changes which could be made overnight with the stroke of a pen – unlike the unwieldy ‘universal basic income’, whatever the fuck that is – oh, you’ve posted a ‘link’ which tells us precisely fuck all. Nobody takes any notice of petitions either!
You are wasting your time with him, he is off his troll -ey!
@obd
Haven’t replied to you for a couple of days – ended up in hospital. Yes, I receive full PGC but of course next year things are different for those coming up behind me (April 1st next?). Agreed, UK pensions are skinflint compared with Europe. However if passported we don’t have to pay rent nor council taxes – are things the same on the Continent?
Are you alright Pete?
not sure if it’s passported, i assume it is, it’s based on income as it is in the UK….
zac can have UBI if we can have access to his bank account 🙂
UBI Troll.
Benefits before Blair and new deal did not have conditionality with regards to work programmes, sanctions etc., but some like unemployment benefit was means tested and so should all of the other benefits be that are being given to the rich, we might then be able to give those that are reliant on benefits as their only source of income a decent standard of living.
Hi Nell. When I said that I didn’t give a shit about rich people, it’s because I don’t. However, any system of Universal Basic Income would have to be just that, and everyone, including rich people would get it too. Any system that relies on a means test becomes hugely expensive simply because you need an army of bureaucrats to do all the measuring. It’d be much cheaper to pay it to those who don’t actually need it that to operate a means test. And anyway, any system of UBI would have to be paid for, and high earners and the rich would, guess what? Pay more tax! Over time the disparities between rich and poor would become less, as UBI is quite possibly one of the sanest schemes imaginable to transfer wealth to where it’s needed. It would also completely abolish the poverty trap, as if people decided to work for pay, (and the vast majority would) they would not lose any of their UBI, and so would immediately be better off. UBI isn’t intended to provide a luxury lifestyle, just cover basic living needs. And indeed, the position of workers would be enhanced, as then employers would have to start offering decent pay and conditions, as a worker would not be reliant on wages to live. This is probably one of the main sticking points, as capitalists always want a situation where the vast majority of people have only their labour to sell, and would not be too happy if workers could too easily give them the two-fingered salute if they get treated badly, or offered derisory rates of pay by employers.
JV has covered what it costs to administer the DWP, and that is roughly twice what is spent on Jobseeker’s Allowance, bureaucracy is hugely expensive.
Of course, it’s not just the idiots of the capitalist class that we have to convince, there are those woodentops amongst our own ranks who become obsessed with the idea that rich people would get UBI, (even though they don’t actually need it) but fail to grasp that in the whole scheme of things the amounts going to the rich would be relatively trivial, simply because there are far fewer rich people. And the richer people are, the more tax they would pay, which is where the financing of any system of UBI would come from anyway.
In the way that everyone with children (used to) get child benefit, or family allowance, as was. Easier to administer; no shame or stigma about claiming/receiving it & it would, so far as possible get to its intended recipients. Is the argument for a universalbenefit as opposed to one that’s means-tested. It’s for the greater good/there’s a bigger picture etc.
Another two people off their trolleys regarding UBI, which you hope to fund through taxes – but I guess chasing the rich all over the world is not expensive either and would need a mountain of IR staff.
nell you see things in terms of money, money has to add up. But that is not the way it should be, people are more important than balancing the books, and rich who have the most money should in return have the most responsibility to put back into society; instead of what they are trying to do now, leech off the poor.
Maria you don’t know what you are talking about neither does your twin Marie.
sorry missed your point Nell, there will always be a way of financing this scheme from the people who do have money. but if everyone as a benefit oppose to just the poor, then there would be no fear of never having nothing, rich people can be come bankrupt over night and are then poor. Or anyone on a low paid job or zero hours could lose their money in an instance, but it takes time to claim. If everyone has something to fall back on it would take that fear away. UBI wouldn’t be the be all and end all of solving poverty, it would only be the start of making the world a more equal place, better things can grow from this and I as I am on next to nothing anyway, I can accept this, this is better than what I have got now.
I’m sorry Nell as I keep explaining to you, I only have one account. I don’t need to impersonate anyone else.
nell-guy
but I guess chasing the rich all over the world is not expensive either and would need a mountain of IR staff…. but they wouldn’t be getting a UBI neither….unless they paid their taxes in the EU, EU citizens…
sorry noop i forgot to rant on about UBI in my last few posts….so to make it up… http://basicincome.org.uk/reasons-support-basic-income/
How would UBI be funded in the real world?
In a word, taxation, and taxation at a higher level than at present simply because people could afford to pay more tax. Whatever the level of taxation, a basic livable income would be guaranteed. The wealthy would pay more tax, as any decent system of taxation is progressive, i.e. the more you earn, the more you pay, as your basic living costs do not need to be any higher than anyone else’s.
Most people would want to work, and with something like UBI it wouldn’t matter if it was a zero hour contract, part-time, or even full time, (though it’s high time that ‘full-time’ meant something like 16 hours a week). Workers would pay tax on the income they make, and workers could agitate to be paid decently, as they would always be able to fall back on the UBI.
And what would pensioners the sick or lone parents with sick children fall back on if they are unable to work.
You are a selfish toe rag Sib.
UBI would only serve to increase the difference between rich and poor, that is if there is any labour needed in the future for those that can work.
The way we are losing out to countries that can produce cheaper goods and services, there won’t be much left for those in the uk, migrants included. Never mind the rich will be laughing all the way to the bank.
obd with all due respect this article is total shit. It doesn’t explain in anyway whatsoever how universal basic income would work in practice.
OK, say we have a benefits claimant currently receiving £200 in benefits. There next door neighbour is a 4-car family of nobhead middle-class lecturers.
We bring in a UBI. The benefits claimants still receives a UBI of £200, and but now the middle-class nobhead also gets bunged an extra 200 knicker. Would this not reduce the spending power of original benefit entitlement?
How does a UBI ‘redistribute’ wealth? How does it make the poor relatively ‘richer’? It doesn’t, does it. It appears to be another ‘universal’ benefits such as free tv licences, child benefit, DLA, motability, winter fuel allowance that any old rich cocksucker can also claim.
obd
Instead of keeping on posting this useless link why don’t you explain how this Zac Goldsmith-promoted UBI would work in practice.
Would it not be a lot simpler to remove conditionality in the benefits system, abolish sanctions, end workfare, end ‘work programmes’ and increase benefits level. You don’t need to be of a ‘superior intellect’ to get your head round this…
You could accomplish that in one stroke of the pen….
The ‘nobhead’ middle class lecturers would end up paying more tax, but they wouldn’t be worse off, because they’d have their UBI.
The problem with removing conditionality, (which has always applied to unemployment benefits) and abolishing sanctions, workfare etc is that you’d still have a system of benefits administered by a huge, and expensive bureaucracy, which is not only inefficient, but unnecessary. And you’d still lose it if you start working. UBI isn’t a ‘benefit’ it’s, well, UBI, something you get AS OF RIGHT, just for the very fact of existing.
And far from UBI being promoted just by the likes of Zack Goldsmith, it has it’s champions on the Left too, in fact, UBI has it’s supporters right across the political spectrum.
There is no doubt that UBI would be expensive if it was to be established in any meaningful way, at a level that genuinely provided a decent basic income, but it is affordable, as the UK is an extremely wealthy country. There would of course be a lot of whinging on the part of the wealthy as they aren’t going to be very happy having a lot of that wealth taken off them, but where did they get their wealth? Stolen from the workers in terms of the surplus value generated by them. Or as a result of slavery. Whatever, the rich derived their wealth by stealing it.
You can talk up the UK all you want Sib, it is so wealthy we are in a mountain of debt and need austerity measures so that you can sell UBI to the ignorant,.
Or is our national debt a big lie also, which includes student loans which are foisted on the youth to pay lecturers and now you want to give them UBI also.
nell-guy you said ‘obd
ps unaffordable nhs and welfare state in 1947 just after ww2 when the uk was skint…
We borrowed to build and we have been paying back ever since, just like we have with PFI’s, for hospitals etc’
thus claiming our national debt is not a lie nor a manageable part of a normal economy and the debt should be transferred to the people, as current and successive govts have been doing since thatcher….now you’re saying in your usual cloudy fudge our national debt is a big lie, is bad, and we also need austerity because of it, make up your mind..?
I was asking if the National debt was a lie to the point that it needs austerity measures on the poor, the poor tenants pay all their lives for their dwellings which was also a reference to paying for housebuilding forever.
If the National debt is not a lie WHERE WILL YOU FIND THE MONEY TO PAY EVERY MAN WOMAN AND CHILD A BASIC INCOME AS HAS BEEN SUGGESTED? You never answer that other than to say to tax the rich, paying them a little tip will not keep them here while you drive a coach and horses through their tax fiddles and as Sib said the rich are a minority, so not paying benefits to them would not accrue much income.
What has Europe got to do with the rich other than the fact that they will still be able to do business with Europe while lounging on their yachts off Monaco?
nell-guy
this has been fully explained to you…but you won’t have it and continue your mantra’s that those kept short of income won’t benefactor from a UBI and you’re unable to think laterally about the accruing benefits of a UBI once implemented, if ever… and constantly accused others of having a hidden agenda…. i have none, i’m an old and precarious class diabetic, so i won’t benefit from a UBI @ all…..i want what’s best for those younger than me and obvs my children their children etc and i don’t see a future for them without a UBI….
OBD
when will you get it through your head that not all need it!
I am in favour of basic income for the poor but not the wealthy.
nell-guy
then all you’re saying is the existing system is ok….!?
ps nell-guy
point out where you claim this has been said before on this thread… ‘the poor tenants pay all their lives….?’
OBD
“….I want what’s best for those younger than me and obvs my children their children etc and I don’t see a future for them without UBI.”
So now you are a clairvoyant, how do you know what future any of us will have, have you read it in the scaremongering scab daily?
Perhaps you should heed the words Jeremy with his guy fawkes mask posted in his video, there are other ways to overthrow corrupt governments other than give them tips, they will take the tips and be off before you could say George Robinson.
I did not state anywhere that poor tenants pay all of their lives, I mentioned it as an addendum to what the poor pay all of their lives.
Some with wealth, own their own homes, still working and getting an income into old age may want UBI, but it will not benefit neither the old nor young poor if there are no jobs.
If there ever was a time when there was no jobs then the people would have no choice but to revolt against their rulers, only some want to be rich enough and accrue enough money from UBI so that they will not be one of them engaged in this fight. That is how much some care about others.
idiot
you’re clearly laying out your future visions with your posts nell-guy…
What future can you see then mystic meg, that would need us to pay out a basic income to the rich and be necessary for the poor to have also, (for as long as the rich think you should have it that is)?
It certainly doesn’t sound like there is going to be much in the offing for the poor, but plenty for those with vast and average wealth like the middle classes.
nell-guy
can YOU never answer a post without asking another question esp on a subject that already has been well covered….to grind down and on and on and on with your repetitive mantra’s even when proved plainly wrong…bye for now unless you have anything interesting and constructive to say that is….
OBD
I don’t know about thinking laterally, I’m not sure you think at all about the socially economic system you think we should adopt.
If I keep on with my mantra that is because you are the one that is not listening to anyone’s voice but your own on this subject, although there are a few golden fleece that follow in your footsteps of madness.
You have made no mention of those that are landlords of many dwellings that you are planning to give UBI to, journalists, media moguls, film stars, supermarket owners, famous singers, all with secure incomes who need UBI for what reason exactly?
nell-guy
WILL YOU GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD, THAT A UBI IS USELESS UNLESS IT GIVES RELIABLE SUPPLIES OF VITALITY GIVING VITALS OF LIFE FOR ALL….
“The problem with removing conditionality, (which has always applied to unemployment benefits)” – only in a “technical” sense that your claim could be be “disallowed”, not a certainty by any means, if you committed a serious “offence” such as setting fire to the Labour exchange. But this was easily resolved by making a new claim the very next day, so in effect their was never any break in income and claimant wasn’t one old pence out of pocket. Claimant being “sanctioned” was unheard of, and three years sanctions were the stuff of science fiction and dystopian novels. No such thing as a ‘foodbank’ either; again, unheard of!

The Glasgow based boss of Working Links, Nicholas Young, has just told Scottish MSPs at an inquiry into DWP the he considers benefits sanction have a positive outcome, and is all for them! He claims they have “a positive outcome” Yeah…..I bet they do, as his company keeps getting pesos from IDS !!!
>>>>>>>> The director of Working Links, who are implementing the UK Government’s welfare-to-work scheme has said he supports taking money away from single parents and disabled people if they fail to meet the conditions of the programme.
Nicholas Young, whose firm Working Links has a £167 million contract to find jobs for people on the Work Program, said conditionality – also known as benefit sanctions – “has had a really positive impact over a number of years”. He said he was “not unmoved” by the “plight” of his clients who have had their benefits reduced or stopped, but backed conditionality as a way “encouraging active participation”.
However, his evidence to Holyrood’s Welfare Reform Committee contradicted other witnesses, including the director of other DWP contractors.
Paul de Pellette, director of Ingeus, said sanctions were a “disincentive” to building trust.

Chilcot Inquiry
The long-awaited report into the Iraq war will be released in the Summer either next year or in the next thousand years.
Sir John Chilcot has taken six years over the report so far with nothing to show for it, which puts him just behind the average plumber in terms of productivity.
Chilcot made the announcement after having thrown a dart at a stack of calendars and hoping for the best.
“It’s great to have a choice of four definite answers as to when we might possibly see something” said journalist Simon Williams.
“I’m quite hoping that it will come out next year as opposed to next millennium, as I’ve got some fairly heavy decomposition planned between now and then.”
“I know how he feels though. It takes me ages to do dull things. My wife is still banging on at me to put some curtains up but it’s a really tedious task and I don’t really want to do it.”
“Mind you, my not putting curtains up isn’t causing major distress to anyone waiting on the results, unless you count my wife, which I don’t.”
Be thankful you are not one of those sitting with their CURTAINS closed watching a 60″TV.

You will need to be a sugar daddy to buy your little ‘uns anything if the sugar tax goes ahead, it is in almost everything.
The government couldn’t possibly think of making producers reduce sugar in their products when they can tax the paying customer, talk about adding insult to so called injury(sugar overload).
This ‘sugar tax’ is really just another form of VAT – a regressive tax – which will further hammer the poor. Instead, what these fuckwit ‘medics’ should be calling for is an end to sanctions in the social security system because when you have no income coming in the only thing you can afford is cheap biscuits or whatever from the pound shop, or sugar solution and some lemon juice and you have lemonade. It is because of sanctions and shit that diabetes and diseases that we left behind in Victorian times are soaring. If folks had a DECENT INCOME they wouldn’t need to buy sugary crap just to fill a hole in their stomach.

OT: Advisors in Food Banks …. Is George Prentious lying? Yep.
(h-t to Refuted)
http://thirdforcenews.org.uk/blogs/foodbank-network-is-not-in-discussions-with-dwp
“the Trussell Trust, which runs a network of over 420 foodbanks, has had no conversations with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or Iain Duncan Smith about this and has not agreed to roll out this idea. Neither has The Trussell Trust been involved in any pilots.
At a local level, The Trussell Trust has been discussing ideas to improve DWP processes in order to reduce the number of people left hungry due to problems with benefits delivery. One idea discussed privately with some foodbanks and a small number of backbench MPs (but not yet discussed with DWP) was to give foodbank clients opt in access to specific welfare advisers tasked with troubleshooting benefit related admin errors, delays or payments that had lead people to need foodbanks.”

Thanks for that post Gazza. 🙂
I’ve just checked this one, and there’s a short clip on YT where IDS explains this, but he doesn’t actually mention which foodbanks or where? (confused) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=logWaehXQaQ
I thought TT controlled all the foodbanks…. so what others are there?
John:
“so what others are there?” You will find a list of trussell trust and others here – as to which ones support IDS and his crazy scheme, well they did say it was a nun who first suggested it (and was thrilled to meet with IDS himself!), but I don’t know which particular foodbank she was “helping out” in:
http://www.greenbenchesuk.com/2014/01/food-bank-britain-report-by-eoin-clarke.html
Yeah, there’s a PAC committee video on the Parliament website (3hrs long), but its not too long into the video when IDS/Deveraux mention this “trial”. IDS doesn’t completely trust the statistics of the TT. I know you might argue it’s just the way that they talk, but it’s interesting how quietly/low spoken IDS and Deveraux are (you can hardly hear Deveraux when they talk). However I have known of people before who have talked in such a low voice before, and it can be a sign that they know they are lying through their teeth. I also find IDS can be very long drawn out in his responses.
John – How do you know when IDS is lying? – His lips are moving. It’s an old joke usually spoken about lawyers I know, but it describes IDS pretty well. If you look into more detail on that link I posted above it highlights that the amount of foodbanks is actually represented as LOWER than it actually is because reports tend to focus on the TT ones for statistics!
IDS just talks and talks in the hope that he will dig himself out of the hole he is in but achieves the opposite.
Ah…. it’s Lalley Welcome Centre in Manchester (Not TT)

(In a story on BBC 6PM News) 2 care workers have been taken to trial and convicted for manslaughter of a small boy in their care – then surely, after 2 separate Coroner’s reports confirming that ‘the WCA was directly involved’ in two separate, but equally tragic deaths – why is it that IDS & his DWP are not being brought forward to the CPS for trial – for not only 2 deaths, but also the 2380 others that have been (so far) confirmed?
Let alone the countless others (yet) to be admitted to!
🎵 🎶
Also: News that President Sisi of Egypt is going to be welcomed into the UK by ‘our’ Government – another person liable for ‘Human Rights abuses’ in his own Country. (There are reports of demos in London tonight over this). Add to this Cameron & Osborne’s licking of the feet of another ‘Human Rights’ abuser the Chinese P.M. XinPing only last week.
The Tories just love Human Rights abusers – after all – they are ‘Human Rights abusers’ in their very own right!
well said paul
Fellow JCP Sufferer/Customer – Thanks for that
Some fucking nobhead posted this on utter fucking contemptible comment over on welfare weekly:
“A high percentage of those who are sanctioned are in the work related activity group, which means there is an acceptance that they not well enough to be on standard JSA. Yet the sanctions system treats them on the same terms as those who are on JSA.”
These fuckers really do make the blood boil. What these CUNTS are really saying is “please don’t sanction ESA claimants and I couldn’t give a shit about JSA claimants. They are all super-resilient anyway. A sanction is like water off a duck’s back to a JSA claimant.
Fuck these NAZI bastard ESA claimants. They don’t give a flying fuck about anyone except themselves. That’s why they were urging us to vote for those Labour cunts in GE2015: they thought that New Labour might let ESA claimants off the hook. And even if an ESA claimant gets sanctioned they still get paid more than a JSA claimant.
RIP David Clapson – A JSA claimant MURDERED by the British State.
well said rdc
unbelievable…if the quote is true… what the person is actually saying if you could be bothered to get behind the words, is that people on esa have been found ‘not fit for work’, so why are they being sanctioned, sanctioned under the PRESENT scheme…?
as you know i don’t agree with sanctions nor therefore conditionality for SS claimant under any circumstances…but the aforesaid person is obvs struggling to understand the current system…. which gain adds weight to my call of far greater grassroots support for people who have been made vulnerable by the current welfare system…
rip david clapson, a diabetic who could not keep his insulin chilled and viable….. http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/diabetic-ketoacidosis/Pages/Introduction.aspx as he was sanctioned by jcp..
there is also a mooted scheme that those on wrag esa get the same rate as those on jsa…it might be so now…
ps sensing taste of pear drops in one’s breathe is also symptom of ketoacidosis…
obd – no-one should be sanctioned
fellow
carry on attacking it strengthens my resolve…
obd – “carry on attacking it strengthens my resolve…” what are you talking about??? saying no-one should be sanctioned is attacking no-one – not even those who are sanctioning people – it is criticising them.
but i’d already said that and you were agreeing with an attack on another….
You are right fellow jcp sufferer nobody should be sanction, the reason they are choosing one group to sanction over another is part of their divide and conquer new welfare state, all have which has been retrograde for all claimants and has them arguing amongst themselves.
Some of those on sickness benefit are now saddled with bedroom tax, council tax etc as are JSA claimants so all claimants are losing out.
None of them are proposing to stop benefits that are paid to the rich as an austerity measure, although someone on today’s daily politics touched on it and about time too, I’ve been beating that drum long enough myself.
First paragraph sanctioned not sanction.
” ” All of which not all have which.
obd
so only those found ‘fit for work’ i.e JSA claimants should be subject to sanction? and ‘vulnerable groups’ i.e. ESA claimants should be ‘left alone’ and shouldn’t be sanctioned? UN-fucking-believable! And which neatly leads us round to the question? Who is MORE ‘vulnerable? ‘A sanctioned ESA claimant receiving MORE than the JSA rate or a sanctioned JSA claimant on £zero or ‘hardshit’ if they are lucky?
you asked why esa is paid @ a higher rate and you have already have been told…..
i’ve already clearly posted on the subject many times…you post to cause trouble and whenever proved wrong, you change your name so you can ask the same trolling questions over and over again….you either post under one name and/or if this is not possible remind others who you are or are told…bye…troll….
obd
Do you EVER answer the fucking question? ffs
Bye, troll!
I know the feeling frustrated, he has the cheeky to demand that we answer him though!
wordpress is bloody cheeky too allowing my posts to be grammatically tampered with.
nell-guy
people repeated demanding, notwithstanding them constantly changing names and re-asking the same trolling questions over and over again and even telling lies about who i am and what i said, that i answer questions that i have clearly already answered are the DEMANDING ones….
obd
with all due respect you are talking codswallop. GEOFF kindly answered the question you refer to. You just kept up the “troll” mantra. So that question is done and dusted. The question(s) that you either refuse, are trying to dodge or are unable to answer are ENTIRELY DIFFERENT questions. Why don’t you take a leaf out of GEOFF’s book and answer the question(s).
actually TROLL geoff did not answer it, sian did in a mirror article….
obd “if the quote is true” – here is the quote from

Angela Bailey • 3 days ago
“The figures speak for themselves. A high percentage of those who are sanctioned are in the work related activity group, which means there is an acceptance that they not well enough to be on standard JSA. Yet the sanctions system treats them on the same terms as those who are on JSA. The two week leeway on sanctions is welcomed (although the government had to be dragged kicking and screaming to it) but whether or not that alleviates the problem will depend on the DWPs ability to process appeals much more quickly than they have been in the past.”
The poster says the two week leeway on sanctions is welcomed, but says nothing about the fact that the two week leeway is not for jsa claimants, as she is obviously unconcerned about that.
fellow
i know there’s a lot of education to be done, that person obvs believes to some extent the govt BS about fall in unemployment etc…ie many don’t understand the changed reality of jsa and esa claimants…and why wrag esa is paid @ a higher rate though not for much longer though… which includes the brutal realities of claiming and appealing…which imv YOU should already be aware of…. many on esa believe that they are now safe from persecution and can be left alone to mange their health conditions in peace and that jsa is a temporary solution/situation… which once again why i repeat the more grassroots support/info call…..
ps calling downtrodden peoples fascist/nazi bastards, does not awaken curiosity, it crushes it..
obd
“Angela Bailey” and her ilk don’t give a shit about anybody expect themselves. Just so long as Angela Bailey is alright Jack. “Angela Bailey” and her ilk are beneath contempt.
z troll…
no worries from her i’m sure, as i doubt she’ll want the ilk’s of your type ‘helping’ her to appeal if she gets sanctioned….
typo; manage not mange…. 🙂
obd – I suppose mange is a health condition that can be managed 🙂

The MAXIMUS job add forgot to include the following: Any successful candidate must be a fully paid member of the Tory party. Equally, all candidates must shout the following IDS motto (taken from Nazi concentration camps) ten times during their interview: ‘WORK SETS YOU FREE!’ Without both the above requirements MAXIMUS must conclude that the candidate is ‘not the right fit’ because they are too weak, soft and believes in the welfare state.
Also should include ‘Candidate must also hate unemployed or disabled people. Indeed, anyone who dares claim any kind of benefits.’

Nooppression – I don’t expect David Cameron will ever read or act on your post. He will never drop austerity as it protects his own class from cutbacks and higher taxation whilst at the same time takes a huge dump on the poor and disabled. Austerity is another name for total fucking class war!

Welfare Reform: Minister Lord Freud Told Single Benefit ‘Universal Credit’ Plan Is Not ‘Credible’ After Revealing Roll-Out Figures

to expand on Fraud who is a Fraud:
So what will he say when it crashes and burns?
a] UC cannot handle Zero Hours Contracts, new regulations on 06Apr16 includes Zero Hours in UC.
b] new regulations on 06Apr16, includes Tax Credits – now if UC cannot handle Zero Hour Contracts due to the uneven hours/days of work how will it handle Tax Credits? Further, I know of instances where Tax Credits get closed due to under/over hours being worked. The whole thing is going to be a unmitigated disaster.
Lets not even consider the issues around the Taper aspect of Tax Credit Reductions i.e. halving the allowance before the taper kicks in – though the Lords knocked that back you know the ConCons are going to sneak it back in somehow.
Halving the Allowance will also hit the Self Employed as well who are on Tax Credits.
This is a forseeable disaster that Will happen. Fools like this will not stop until Darwin Catches up with them.
Gazza
The delay between the rise in wages and end of tax credits ,will give the tories more stolen money to hand out to their business friends, to pay the living wage with 5 years later, by which time it will be worthless to the worker, eaten up by inflation.
nellgwynne
Good points but the elephant in the room is the question how long can people survive in society with a halving of their money? That Basically is what the changes to tax credits is about – let alone the legion of problems surrounding anything else like being on Zero Hour Contracts [700K at last count – and I suspect that number is low balled. Even at 15% of that figure being in trouble from the off which I am pitching deliberately low that is still a hell of a lot of people in trouble from 6Apr16.]
Will a person be able to feed/house/pay bills/get to work on a halving of pay? For how long? Years? Months? I would say weeks. Since the crash, dropping off the precipice is just 1 wage packet away. Lets not even think of the issues of sanctioning people in work, getting them to come into DWP while working etc etc…
Gazza
Perhaps before they give the stolen tax credits to the employers they might use it for the next 5 years to lend out as pay day loans for those they have stolen it off, making interest out of them also.
How much of a F**king cheek would that be?
Osborne promised that the New Minimum Wage (Living Wage) is to rise to a whopping £10 an hour… 😉 … by 2050 😀

Will someone, somewhere, (even some big Legal Company if you think that you can win the case!) please, at least start to think about bringing some sort of legal action against Ian Duncan Smith and/or his DWP for at least, the manslaughter, or even the cold and callous murder (by their combined actions) of claimants. Surely, this is much needed – or are these tragic and totally preventable tragedies going to go on and on and on – with no one at all in any way responsible for them? – which I personally both find shameful and totally unacceptable. I do not have the money to do this – but if I did, I would do it my very self.

And – have you all noticed also that Sky News is absolutely full of the ‘news’ of Sharm-El-Sheik – WHY? This is, by no means a precedent in Sky’s (or the Tory BBC’s) selective reporting – they have done it so many times before – when some bad news comes out about the Tories – Sky reports it often in the early morning – then it gets scrapped for the remainder of the day. I say that it is to cover up what was, and is being reported elsewhere – including (on here) Osborne possibly having to resign eventually if he has (and he may well HAVE to do!) a U turn on the Tax Credits fiasco, – also perhaps to cover up the news yesterday of the ‘snooper’s charter’ – they think that the public are stupid (and indeed many of them are and are also well misinformed!)
Why therefore otherwise are they now giving no less than 18 minutes to this Sharm-El-Sheik story?
I think Sky news has been extra suspect for about a month.
Another Fine Mess – Thank you for that – I would suggest that it could be even longer than a month, but admittedly, in the last month the selected reporting/non-reporting seems to have become even more prevalent.
There should ideally be some kind of ‘watchdog’ with ‘teeth’ to actively police these broadcasters – they seem to do just about what they like and at the moment, completely get away with all of it.
(Just like the Government itself in fact)!
‘Adverts’ have to comply with certain rules – i.e. The Advertising Standards Authority – so why should’nt the broadcasters have to comply to rules also?!
And – the BMA calling for a ballot on strike action by Junior Doctors (reported on yesterday with Hunt in a Hospital disastrously making up a hospital bed!) is not being reported today at all apparently I have been told.
And – with Sharm-El-Sheik – the present Government says that it only ‘suspects’ that the Russian airliner may have been brought down by illegal explosive means – the exact cause has not yet even been finally confirmed.
Their ‘remarks’ have already caused a ‘diplomatic storm’, both with the Egyptians (as reported last night) and with the Russians, but Sky and the BBC is now trying to play this down as much as possible.
This rotten Nazi Tory shambles is like an American Company controlled heavy and fully loaded freight train that has lost its brakes and is fast heading into a sharp bend, followed by a ‘railroad’ station and a set of buffers. These cunts are set to be derailed and destroyed before too long – just mark my words!!
You notice they only put this shite out about the plane being brought down by ISIS so they can justify their fucking snooper’s charter. Oh, it’s terrorism you see! Are intelligence services intercepted it – my arse.
They really, really think we’re fucking stupid don’t they?
They insult our lack of intelligence 😀
They keep us in the dark and feed us shit 😀
Two deaths possibly linked to ‘Hunt effect’, study suggests
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/nov/05/two-deaths-possibly-linked-to-hunt-effect-study-weekend-nhs-staffing
sian – thanks for putting this on – this is possibly another cause for ‘legal action’ to be taken against this Government’s terrible policies!
And – with all of the reports tonight – the Million Mask March in London has been an unqualified success as always, – but, make no mistake – unless further action is taken to highlight what this rotten Tory shambles of a Government is doing to innocent people, including the poor, the working poor, the sick and the disabled – then they will try to continue their unremitting and cruel attacks upon the most vulnerable people of Britain.
The Tories do NOT care about the poor and the sick, – they only want to look after their rich selves, their rich friends, the rich bankers and the rich (and getting ever richer) companies and multinationals and also, last, but by no means least, the tax evaders (individuals and companies alike).
These bastards are totally intent upon destroying the poor and the underpriveleged and protecting the rich and all that those cunts stand for.
Its just been reported that prince charles is on an official visit to New Zealand – no doubt at ‘taxpayer’s expense’ as ever and always – SHITE.

‘In the hours after the Conservatives won a majority at the general election, London estate agents reported a surge in luxury property sales. Shares in Foxtons rose by 13%, and more than £100m of central London property was sold in a 24-hour frenzy, as estate agents worked through the night to deal with the renewed interest from wealthy buyers. Their fears over Labour’s proposed mansion tax had been allayed, and the tax loophole for non-doms had been preserved.’
overburdenddonkey – yes, thank you for putting that on – it just goes to show what happens immediately they knew that the Tories were going to be ‘back in’ for another 5 years – yet another ‘wealthy persons paradise’ – absolutely terrible.
paul

overburdendonkey – absolutely brilliant! It sounds like the sort of totally confusing crap that Cameron/Osborne or a ‘Local Government Officer’ would come out with before ‘raising the Council Tax’!
The fucking Royals – these bastards are the very biggest total and utter ‘scroungers’ of Britain – not the poor, or the claimants, or the unemployed.
True Paul, that stinking old hag is the most successful parasite in Britain, about time it croaked!
Thank you for that Marie – I could not agree more!

Mum and FOUR kids forced to sleep in one bed thanks to the benefits cap

The ‘war’ on the poor by the Tories may continue for the time – but the ‘war’ against the Tories is only just starting – I can assure you that you really have seen nothing yet – HaHa!!
On a slightly different subject! This time regarding the Million Mask March in London of last evening. After my remarks about it last night, I have now gone through all of the various reports and rather it being a ‘success’ as I previously thought – it was maybe more of a ‘shambles’ – which is a shame. It seems that the crowds were unorganised and got broken up into various groups. It seems that imposters/troublemakers may well also have been involved. Whilst most of the marchers were well behaved, I have to say that I was disgusted to read that fireworks were thrown at the horses. They should never really have ever been there in the first place, but this behaviour is cruel and disgusting – any cruelty to any animal is totally unacceptable and shame on the perpetrators – also shame on them for attacking the poor woman who was trying to protect the horses. Violence against ‘peaceful’ protesters is also totally abhorrent and should be condemned outright.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’
The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed..
‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—-your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favourite passions—-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else—-the small stuff.
‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn.
Take care of the golf balls first—-the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend 🙂

You’re welcome! 😀
A frown is an upside down smile 😀
what turn that frown upside down, maria…would you give the same advice to CWP Victim below and buy his mates some more beer…
OBD its a good outlook to have on life, if your not being abused by the government and society then. people should be allowed to afford a few beers and have some sort of a social life regardless of whether they can find a job or not. After all its over a beer with friends, where gossips flows and through word of mouth its where you find the real jobs, if there are any to had anyway. No OBD I wish things were better for everyone.
but it isn’t just for hearing about jobs through the grave vine, it also does good to people well being to get out regularly. I should know being deprived of a social life for so long.
sorry grape vine, not grave vine.
maria
‘its a good outlook to have on life’ but it’s not real, but false, forced, fake, dishonest, manufactured, doesn’t come from within of true self….
life from true self happens naturally. no need of stories, fairy tales of what a failure one is if one don’t have those things described in the story…
it’s behaviourism…
so if one has reason to be happy/content one is, and life’s advice is therefore irrelevant….
to force oneself, pretend to be happy as life implies is abusing self, and self destructive, as it leads one into some horrendous relationships with others and maintains being in abusive relationships with others…what happens too one creates the within and in turn projects/mirrors outlook, break that link and one is dysfunctional to true self as human being..

Life is a box of chocolates 😀
I know where you are coming from OBD, but I prefer to have a spiritual view on life, but I like the story because it reminds us that it is people that are the most important to us and not things. And stories can convey ideas about how we are and not just report events or personal views of those events. Besides you can’t really convert ideas about stories not having an importance, to a writer:)
maria
i’ll bare your views in mind….personally i live in reality…
we all need reliable supplies of vitality giving vitals of life or were done for…
But I do believe that no body should suffer needlessly too and people should have what they need, like you say. That everyone should be helped and no one is different from anyone else, in terms of equality. I do believe that UBI can help the poor, because of it’s unconditionaity, it means that no one can argue to take it away from anyone. So poor people will always have something, they will always have rights no matter what, and it is a progress towards a more equal society, where people are valued for themselves instead of looked upon as tools to expand the wealth of the few at the top and fuel the economy that only protects an handful, and uses the rest as human shields.
Maria UBI will not create an equal society, it would be creating further inequality.
There is no talking to some people!
maybe it won’t Nell but it goes to protecting people from destitution, it goes to say everyone no matter who they be have rights, its a step in the right direction opposed to where politics is heading by cutting the rights of some people out, because they don’t at least have paid work. It says that if your disabled or sick, you will still have something to live on, whatever happens.
Maria
Both new labour under Blair and now the Tories under Cameron have undermined the welfare state to the state that it is now, so that you would welcome a new welfare system UBI which they are trying to proclaim the rich are entitled to, because as sure as hell under the National insurance system (which a lot of self employed and freelance people opted out of), the rich were not entitled , but claimed anyway.

well. it can only be a good thing if he does quit, lets hope Mr Osborne goes ahead with the raid.
sian – thanks for putting this one on. It would be very good if this cruel and psychopathic bastard did actually resign, – BUT – he could still eventually face legal action – even if he is out of office (as did Tony Bliar – except that in his case £890 per day Chilcot has still not produced his long awaited report!) – he may well run, but he cannot hide and get away with all of the unnecessary crimes that he personally (through his orders) and his DWP Department have committed. Even if IDS did eventually go, he will definitely not be forgotten – his past WILL come back to haunt him in the future!
(Any ‘public inquiry’ into this should not be conducted by Chilcot, or any of his ilk – however, it would be more likely to be a criminal prosecution – so Chilcot would not have any say in it anyway)!
@sian
It concerns me that Gidiot has already mortgaged our (fully topped-up and ringfenced) National Insurance fund.
wildswimmerpete – does this mean that our ‘hard earned’ pensions could be ‘used’ by the U.K. Government as ‘security’ for other ‘borrowings’? – (as is a mortgage for instance) – if so, we are all totally fucked – we will all have to go off-grid and become ‘survivalists’ – but, unlike the Americans, we would not have the right to go out and buy a gun to ‘get our next meal’!
It appears that CWP (Community Work Placements) have been quietly increased from up to 26 weeks to up to 30 weeks. Up from 780 hours ‘community payback’ to 900 hours ‘community payback’.
It was originally 26 weeks, now all the paperwork says 30weeks. Fuckers!
Compulsory placements will ‘get people back in touch with the world of work,’ says nobhead David Cameron.
CWP is of benefit to the community, what a load of crap, the only ones that benefit are the parasite poverty pimp providers, and stinking “charity” shops. DWP + JCP = SCUM.
… and fucking nobheads building up ‘recycling’ businesses off of the broken backs of slave labour.
Marie – Yes, you are definitely right in what you say.
Cameron should be kicked out of office (but he is a Millionairre, so he does not need to worry in any way whatsoever) and made to sign on at JCP+ and then, let the JCP+ get hold of his sorry ass – get him to register with UJM, – get him to do 35 hours of ‘Jobsearch’ (including weekends!), then, after 6 months of ‘no success with finding a job’ – put him onto the CWP –
(via the JCP+) – enter him into the nearest ‘Charity’ and make the cunt ‘work’ for 36 hours a week for 6 months for his JSA benefit, (at all times under the threat of a ‘sanction’ for non attendance.)
What the fuck is wrong with these bastards?

The 5p bag charge for Shopping is an Utter Outrage
People pay Enough for Shopping Items
The ‘bag tax’ is a serious piece of nonsense. It looks ridiculous when you see folks juggling their groceries all the way home.
The solution is to just use the self-scan. “Are you using your own own bags?” Yes 😀 When it ask you how many bags you have used press “0”. 😀 Then absent-mindedly take a bag(s). 😀
I think they should give away free wicker baskets instead, they won’t break as easy, kind to the environment and reusable.
NoOppression
People think there has been no inflation in the supermarkets but everything is kept at the same price but less goes into their packaging now.
5p for carrier bags is just another ruse to raise money to pay staff higher wages, it never comes out of profits just the customer.

Plastic bag charge in Scotland sees usage cut by 80%…. wildlife and our ecology will suffer less as a result…. i never use auto checkouts….
Carrier bags are plastic and could be melted down and recycled, not thrown on rubbish dumps.
nell-guy
really…
true Nell but only so many times, all plastic biodegrades eventually, even though it takes hundreds of years. Nothing lasts forever.
Carrier bags already are biodegradable – they have turned to powder before you get them home 😀
True, they have turned to powder before you have even crossed the road after you have left the shop, by time you get home they have disappeared without a trace.
Indeed Very Valid Observation
Perhaps there can be National Demonstrations and Local Demonstrations
for the Repeal of the 5P Bag Charge and also about how Crisp Packets

@noop
In England the 5p levy has to be paid into a charity, not the supermarket or government.
Wildswimmerpete
So they are forcing customers to support charities that could be using forced labour????

DWP sanctions are incompatible with Lord Bingham’s definition of the rule of law
In a recent Report, the House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee (2015) reiterated its previous call for a comprehensive, independent review of sanctions and for a serious attempt to resolve the conflicting demands on claimants made by DWP staff to enable them to take a common-sense view on good reasons for non-compliance. The Committee concluded that there was no evidence to support the longer sanction periods introduced in October 2012 and recommended the piloting of pre-sanction written warnings and non-financial sanctions. Sadly, these recommendations seem to have fallen on deaf ears and to date there has been no response from the DWP to the Report.
……….FALLEN ON DEAF EARS?
Respect for fundamental rights:
The attenuated arrangements for challenging the imposition of sanctions, which can leave people without any income, indicate that the right to a fair trial, guaranteed under Article 6 of the ECHR, is inadequately protected. This suggests that the fifth principle is probably not satisfied.

Mhairi Black: Ask why does TV attack benefit claimants – but not tax evasion?
ACAB – thanks for putting this on. This is exactly what happens when people feel so oppressed and totally downtrodden by the state that they have no other option than to take some sort of direct action.
I, for one, am NOT going to condemn this action as seen above as I also do not condemn any of the ‘peaceful’ Million Mask protesters – they have a right to march and so they should – without being impeded or being threatened with/or actually being attacked by the Police.
The Police are there by ‘public consent’ only – after all, we all pay for their ‘services’ through our Council Tax.
I do, however, totally condemn the attacking of the horses by fireworks and the attacking of the young woman who was trying to protect the horses – the Police should have never brought in these animals in the first place – it is no place for any animal – let alone ‘fully-trained’ Police horses.
If I were in the place of one of the people in London – I would personally report the Met. Police to the RSPCA for animal cruelty.

‘COMRADES, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while but, unfortunately for Scottish Labour, voting against Trident at their party conference left members far from bright-eyed and bushy tailed. Just like the aforementioned species has its own internal struggle, with the greys battling the reds, the Labour Party is seemingly trapped in a never-ending war of attrition, with Commander Corbyn and General Dugdale behaving less like they’re ordering soldiers, and more like they’re herding tree-rats.’
overburdenddonkey – yes, very true – the Blairites, such as Yvette Cooper and Andy Burnham are still very much there – they would really love to stay as ToryLabourites, but for the moment at least, they will have to reluctantly sing to the Corbyn songsheet. I can see a time when Labour may split into two different factions – if they do, Labour across the UK is probably finished as such. They could never command a ‘majority’ in the Commons ever again!
Working Links really to take the piss:

All as a Working Links ‘volunteer’!
So basically you worked somewhere unpaid for experience that you could get from daily chores at home???
Working Links Stinks – that is terrible – many years ago, on an ‘Employment Training’ scheme in Cornwall (where I used to live) I had to endure similar things – only this time on an equestrian project – which luckily, I enjoyed. However, I had to do this for 36 hours a week for 1 year altogether (for no ‘wage’) – and only with the equivalent of JSA nowadays + £10 per week extra (+ travelling expenses).
If we did not attend for any good reason we would risk having our benefit stopped for 2 weeks – this was in the time of Thatcher’s Government, so it doesn’t really change too much!
It was bad enough in those days, but nowadays, it seems that it is even worse, as if you do not attend, you risk being sanctioned which could be even worse than ‘just’ 2 weeks of benefit stoppage.
The absolute bastards – all of these ‘workfare’ providers desperately need to be targeted to make them change their awful ways.
As you can imagine – and even after all of these intervening years, I am still seething with anger that such exploitation and slavery (under the guise of ‘work experience’) is still going on, and what’s more – actually being tolerated by people in 2015. It is shameful and reprehensible and these practises need to be fully condemned. The so-called ‘Charities’, such as the Salvation Army, the Y.M.C.A. (and Tenevos? Care in Cardiff, Wales, etc) and all of these other pimping so-called ‘Charities’ should be properly investigated by the Charities Commission – I am sure that somewhere, in their ‘terms & conditions’ of operating, they are probably breaking the law by using not ‘true volunteers’, but instead by using, ‘forced labour’ or ‘modern slavery’ (with no wage – ‘placed’ with them by the hated JCP).
As I said on here once before, ‘gang-masters’ using slave, or almost slave labour (in agriculture etc), as well as other more ‘residential slave’ houses can, and have been raided by the Police in the not too distant past – and, even now these raids are still going on!
So – why cannot this ‘workfare’ be regarded as ‘modern slavery’?

sian – thanks for putting this on also – fucking disgraceful.
These bastards are getting all of this money – whilst at the same time they are going to try to strip away an extra £12Bn in ‘welfare savings’ from some of the most deserving people in this Country. It truly beggars belief.
IDS should resign now – but I bet that he won’t – his friend Cameron will ‘support him all of the way’ – Where is that dead ‘Pig’ photograph I wonder!
WORK TILL YOU DIE! – (On Sky News now) the DWP says that at total of one in ten 70-74 year olds are now in employment – almost double the number a decade ago.
If the rich think they have to pay for anyone (UBI or not )they will try to deny them welfare in any form unless you start protesting.
This truly is Class War.
