Iain Duncan Smith Is Still A Fucking Idiot – And Only We Can Stop Him

Incapacity Benefit for new claimants will go, replaced by Employment and Support Allowance with the emphasis on what a person with a physical or mental health condition can do, rather than what they can’t.

Peter Hain, Labour Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, 2007

We need a system focussed on what a claimant can do and the support they’ll need – and not just on what they can’t do.

Iain Duncan Smith, Conservative Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, 2015

It’s just the same old shit, over and over again, whichever bunch of bastards is in charge.  The above two comments were made almost a decade apart and in that period the number of people claiming out of work sickness benefits has barely changed.  And why would it?  In any society there will be some people who cannot work due to illness or disability and as the pension age gets ever higher then that number as a percentage of the workforce will grow.

There is nothing unusual or unexpected about this.  Whoever you are reading this, one day you will get sick and then you will die.  If you are lucky this will not happen until you have reached retirement.  If not then you will be helped on your way to an early grave by politicians desperate to cover up for their failure to provide enough jobs by blaming unemployed, sick and disabled people for unemployment.

Iain Duncan Smith’s speech yesterday was a masterclass in this deception, but everything he said has been said before.  So out of ideas is the Secretary of State that he is now misrepresenting the entire process for claiming sickness benefits – pretending it is a binary system which “decides that you are either capable of work or you are not”.  This is simply an outright lie and he knows it.  Currently claimants are assessed as being fit for work, unable to work, or placed in the Work Related Activity Group which means capable of some work, or of being able to work in the future.  In the recent budget George Osborne declared that this group is to be scrapped, creating precisely the binary system that Iain Duncan Smith says he opposes.  Perhaps he hopes we won’t notice.  Perhaps even he hasn’t noticed.

The UK does not spend significantly more on out of work sickness and disability benefits than other comparable economies.  According to the OECD we spend a fraction more than Poland as a percentage of GDP on ‘incapacity’ – and less than Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Israel, Belgium. Luxembourg, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland and the Netherlands.  It is true as Iain Duncan Smith said yesterday that the UK spends more than France, Germany and Japan.  In humane society this would be a source of pride.  Or at least it would be until you found out that Germany spends over three times as much on unemployment benefits whilst France and Japan – where the retirement age is lower – both spend almost double what the UK spends on pensions.  And the incapacity spending figures by the way come from 2011, before most of Iain Duncan Smith’s benefit cuts had been implemented.

Only an astonishing degree of self-delusion could explain Iain Duncan Smith’s latest belief that more workfare, more assessments, and more benefit cuts will magically cure those unable to work because of illness.  But then he is deluded.  That’s why he could claim yesterday that  “The Work Programme is … the most successful back to work programme we’ve ever seen.”  That’s the Work Programme that has seen less sick and disabled people enter employment than it was estimated would have done if the scheme hadn’t existed.  Hundreds of millions of pounds spent on making things worse.  This is what Iain Duncan Smith calls a success.

Rarely, if ever, has such a fucking idiot been given so much power over so many people’s futures.   If the human cost were not so great then the best response would be to point and laugh.  But we can’t do that, not as millions of lives are destroyed.  If society means anything at all it means looking after each other and that means driving Iain Duncan Smith back into the sewer he crawled from before he can do anymore damage.  No-one should stand idly by now.  We need to be relentless as he is, to wake up every day with one thought on our minds – to destroy Iain Duncan Smith’s welfare reforms before they destroy us.

Read the full submission by UNUM, it is word for word what the government are doing.
This is not a coincidence, just corruption to give large swathes of the UK welfare provision to the private health insurance industry.

    5. It is UnumProvident’s contention, and its commercial experience, that acquiring a disability does not make one incapable of work. In our experience, most disabled people are capable of some work, would like to work and crucially, have an expectation that they will return to work in some capacity. Indeed many disabled people would be capable of some work, albeit perhaps not enough to support themselves. We attach a series of case studies[2] which show how we have been able to work with our claimants to achieve a successful return to work.

    • “WHY NOT SUE THE DWP DECISION MAKER”

Letters: DWP Decision Makers ‘Personally Responsible’ If They Fabricate Evidence

In response to: Are DWP Decision Makers Submitting Fabricated Evidence To Appeal Tribunals?

Quote: Indeed according to G S Prince, Assistant Manager for JobCentre Plus at the Chippenham BDC (from a letter dated 3 December 2010):

“An individual decision maker … does not owe the appellant a legal duty of care and is not legally liable for any errors or omissions he may make.”

As a retired Welfare Rights Lawyer, and former Tribunal Member (Social Chamber) I totally disagree.

Decision Makers make decisions on behalf of the Secretary of State for Work & Pensions, Iain Duncan Smith, so the Secretary of State is legally liable.

However, if a Decision Maker knowingly fabricates evidence to present to a Tribunal, they would be personally responsible for that.

A Tribunal is a Court of Law and has the power to take evidence from both the claimant and Decision Makers. Uttering such false evidence would be tantamount to committing perjury.

…………………………..UNLESS THAT IS, YOU HOLD A HIGH AND MIGHTY POSITION OF SOMEONE LIKE JUDGE MARK ROWLAND………………..

SOMEONE WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE INDEPENDENT, SOMEONE WHO PURPORTS TO BE MEETING THE CRITERIA OF ARTICLE 6 OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS ACT, THE RIGHT OF A FAIR TRIAL.

ASK YOURSELVES, “WHAT THE FUCK IS AN EX DWP COMMISSIONER DOING IN A JOB THAT GIVES HIM THE RIGHT TO REFUSE CLAIMANT APPEALS?”

THIS MAN IS BREAKING THE LAW, YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS, YOUR DISABILITY RIGHTS AND YOUR EQUALITY RIGHTS.

The dwp are fielding an insider in a position that should be totally unbiased and fair.

  3. The Unelected Banker Sitting in our Parliament to Make Life Easier for Banks

The Remembrancer is the only non-MP or civil servant with a seat in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. He sits to the right of the Speaker in every session of parliament. His sole purpose is to scrutinise and influence legislation in the interests of the banks. Nobody elected this representative into our parliament. What kind of democracy allows an unelected lobbyist for a wealthy elite to sit in its parliament to write laws in their own interests?

    Who is the Remembrancer?

The current Remembrancer is Paul Double, a former barrister, and he has been in the role since 2003. In that time, he has not provided a single interview to the media. He has a budget of £5.3m, and a £500,000 staff which included six lawyers.

    • SEEMS ONLY FAIR…………

There are 25 electoral wards inside the boundaries of the City. In four, the 9,000 people living there are permitted to vote. In the remaining 21, the other 32,000 votes are controlled by corporations, mostly banks and other financial companies. The bigger the business, the bigger the vote: a company with 10 workers gets two votes, the biggest employers get 79. It’s not the workers who decide how the votes are cast, but the bosses, who “appoint” the voters.

  4. Eating cake as instructed

And we are off again…anyone fortunate enough to find such utopian positions would rapidly come unstuck when due to their disability they can’t commit to a definate timetable or have to go home suddenly being classed as unreliable then follows the persecution of sanctioning, fines, none of which will help the disabled person under a punitive system nor will it encourage employers when no matter how magnaminous they need to be able to predict staff availability. I’m sure plenty of poverty stricken disabled would love to work it used to be called permitted work until stopped by dwp. The incessant paperwork job centre visits and hospital attendances will only create worsening conditions.

  5. Idiotic Drunken Shite – “The Work Programme is … the most successful back to work programme we’ve ever seen.”

If the work programme has done so well, then maybe the bug-eyed lunatic can answer many questions of mine over the monumental bulls-up ever created in history.

    1) How many people has successfully got back into the work and jobs of their choice through the Work Programme assisting them?

    2) How many people have been placed into paid jobs purely by the work programme and not of their own means?

    3) How many people have gone down the self-employment route after being recommended to by their work programme provider?

    4) How many people have been forced to sign back on after their self-employment venture (encouraged by their WPP) failed catastrophically?

    5) How many millions of people have been caught out by their sanction happy work programme provider for simply not knowing that the rules covering the placement client have changed overnight without being told?

    6) If the work programme was that good of a success and the only way to secure work, why is there un-employment across all working age groups?

    7) How many people have died whilst at their work programme placement through lack of proper training, health & safety procedures and non-existant safety checks of the placement building’s safety record by their WPP job coach?

    8) How many people have died as a result of being placed into benefit sanction as recommended by their work programme provider?

    9) How many millions of taxpayers money have been squandered on the likes of those work placement providers failing to plca eun-employed people into proer jobs and instead have parked them between 4 weeks and 6 months in some dodgy ‘charity organisation’ just so the work gets done for said company for nothing?

    10) How may millions of taxpayers money have been handed to the placement providers (local recycling businesses) from the DWP via the route of the contracted work programme provider?

  6. Frontline staff at the Department for Work and Pensions have been given guidance on how to deal with suicidal benefit claimants, it has been reported.

The Sunday Herald newspaper says workers have been handed a six-point plan on how to deal with people denied benefits who appear to be suicidal.

Staff at call centres have been instructed to allow rejected claimants for Universal Credit to talk about their intention to kill themselves.

  10. It’s ironic that when there are more people needing work than jobs, there is a relentless push to find everyone fit for work – mothers with young children, disabled, older people once considered of pension age. The reason this is being pursued so enthusiastically is because it is running parallel with a draconian sanctions regime which removes even the subsistence level benefit from so many. There seems to be a blithe unconcern for the reasons for trying to place a limit on the effects of dire poverty, including public health, the competences and educational achievement of the eventual workforce, reduction of crime and so on. Are they counting on being out of power when the cost of over enthusiastic ‘economy’ hits home?

    • Another Fine Mess

It’s ironic that when there are more people needing work than jobs, there is a relentless push to find everyone fit for work

…And plenty of working people wanting more hours/shifts.
It’s worse than ironic, it’s an utter waste of £billions of hard-working taxpayers money being given to the parasite companies.

On my way to the Sanction Center I pass all the empty shops, offices, dereliction and big issue sellers (there’s even one outside Lidl!). When I get there my umpteenth advisor immediately diagnoses the problem, – wrong keywords on my CV. Then I have to go through the weekly pantomine where I agree to make changes, and just that last one more tweak will do it.

Oh well, roll on yet another employability course, the ESF must think I’ve got the brains of a scarecrow.

      • The jokecentreminus will constantly tell us to keep tweaking our CVs as by doing so this will greatly increase our chances of finding work. We can all keep fiddling with our CVs until the fucking cows come home but this constant CV updating will NOT wave jobs out of thin air.

I have simply lost count of the number of times I have been told by mugs in my JCP, and every single bollocked-up training provider I have wasted my life in, to update my CV.

For instance, before I went to a learn direct course, that I wanted to do myself, my JCP made me change and update my CV. However, when I was on the Learn Direct course, the tutor went and told me that my current CV from the jobcentre was no good and had to be altered, so over a period of five days I went and altered my CV to the recommendations by learn direct.

A year or so later in 2012 and still with my learn direct CV I was told, during my first week (of 102 weeks) with my Flexible New Deal provider in my town, that my learn direct CV was blocking my chances with potential employers. So surprise, surprise I had to change my CV yet again to what my New Deal provider expected from it.

Following on to July 2014 and going into the cunt seetec, I was told during my first week by my seetec coach that my CV was not up to scratch even though I had explained to them it was updated by my previous new deal advisor and also just before I went on their 6 month programme by my JCP.

Every time I went to a different course or programme, my CV was expected to be completely changed and updated and everything fucking else. Today, I have a totally buggered CV from years of interference and meddling from various work programmes such as new deal, flexible new deal, the work programme and others.

And yet, I still haven’t even found the heart to properly fix it the way that I want it typed up as I have had some much shit from people in these courses and all of whom claimed to be an expert in CV writing and claimed my previous alteration of it was no good to me.

Every work provider from new deal right through to the work programme, and even the JCP are obsessed with constant CV typing and re-typing as if it will ever get results and that an employer will kiss your arse because it is top notch and will get you in the company.

        • Fen: That CV altering is a load of shite. There was nothing wrong with your CV. The simple fact is every different place you went to, the wanker dealing with you had to justify his and his employers role in this total effing farce by coming up with more oppressive BS for you to do.

They alter your CV so that it’s worse than it was at the start..

          • 'work programme' victim

They also include spelling/grammatical errors that if you don’t read it through you won’t even notice. You will just be wasting time sending out as CV that is definitely going in the round filling cabinet in the corner. It is a total mindfuck; they are like a sick, twisted, evil parent or something – pretending that they are trying to help you and at the same time setting out to deliberately fuck you up. Just to keep you in an endless cycle and fodder to keep them in their cushy well-paid desk-jobs and comfortable life-styles. Cunts!

            • After Dinner Speaker

Most people list their greatest fear as ‘public speaking’. So why the fuck to these fucking programmes involve so much public speaking? You are hardly in the door before you are ‘introducing yourself’ to a roomful of strangers and ‘telling us about yourself’. Every. Fucking. Scheme is the same – Every. Fucking. Scheme. So you have the heady mix of the fear of public speaking coupled with the fear of being sanctioned for ‘not participating’ in this fucking charade!

              • After Dinner Speaker

Not to mention the endless fucking ‘presentation’. Something stinks rotten with these mindfuck fucking schemes.

              • After Dinner Speaker

Not to mention the endless fucking ‘presentations’. Something stinks rotten with these mindfuck fucking schemes. so what action should people take in your opinion….?
to appeal or not to appeal is the question, as you know my view one must appeal…

  24. Santa hates you

Yet another full scale attack on disabled people by this nazi government . You would think that their last attack, which saw certain disability benefits scrapped and others cut by £30 a week, was bad enough. However, IDS and Cameron’s other Tory bootboys really want to wipe the disabled out for good this time. What IDS seems to have forgotten is there are millions of non- disabled people out there who still can’t get a job, So how can a million plus disabled people suddenly find a job? Everyone knows that many employers are only interested in making loads of money and therefore would rather employ a non- disabled person rather than someone with a disability. But they can’t say this as they would be breaking the law.

So Mr Iain Dickhead Smith, where are the millions of new jobs going to come from and where are all the employers begging to employ disabled people? Answer – there are none really. One only has to look at the evidence from the closed down Remploy factories to see what happens to disabled people in the labour market. In fact most disabled people who used to work at Remploy are still out of work two years later after being thrown on the dole.

But IDS does not give a shit. And why should he? The Tories only look after the rich and the powerful. They think the rest of us are scum who need a good fucking kicking to get us to work hard. All IDS wants is to force disabled people out of claiming benefits which they actually have a right to have. Hey, Dickhead Smith, that’s why people pay National Insurance contributions you thick, stupid cunt.

Cleary this new attack is essentially about cutting more money off the welfare bill. Equally, it’s also in line with the Tory divide and rule narrative about helping ‘hardworking families’ with the assumption the rest of the population who are unable to work are lazy fuckers who steal benefits and don’t want contribute to society.

So my advice to disabled people is to fight back right now against the cuts any way you can. Join campaign groups if you can, write to your MP and tell other people about what’s happening. If you give up now the Tories will be free to eventually bring back a 21st century version of the Workhouse and anybody who has researched these institutions knows they were murder houses for the poor and the sick.

    • The only chance the tory government have of attracting a takeover of welfare platforms is to lower the outgoing cost base which entails cutting everybodys benefit to the bone.

Reduce the blanket overheads and suddenly an insurance based buyer from the private health insurance industry will put in a formal bid.
Lobbyists for one of the provincial giants will have already lured prominent kingpin political players to push for a private takeover.

Whoever they have in mind is just waiting in the wings for the time to pounce but they are beginning to get a little edgy because both labour and tory governments promised the transition would happen many years ago.

DUNKO THE CLOWN has been given the hard word by those around him on the select committee and by the vultures / predators / parasites.

The people of this country that paid into the national insurance system are being duped, the government have changed the remit of welfare reform withiout the agreement of those in receipt.

This scenario has not been followed up because the judiciary in the uk is in the pockets of those that pay them.

How can you be awarded a lifetime or indefinite award that is recognised by a bonafide medical adjudication panel only to have it overturned by a five minute shyster working for somebody like ATOS, CAPITA, SEETEC OR MAXIMUS.

Any good lawyer worth his salt could bankrupt this corrupt government, but the crooked powdered wig brigade are polluting the waters..

but this is the way it is and one must follow this procedure, register an interest @ the outset or one gets nothing… a UtT judge can grant leave to appeal to it, outside the 28days but one must have good reasons….the word appeal has maximum meaning as this is literally what one is doing…all arguments must be logical and persuasive or you’ll get nowhere…’error in law’ should imo be interpreted as wrong in law, use reference to natural law….learn from it…getting one’s rights met is a serious business…

          • overburdenddonkey

getting one’s rights met is a serious business…should add, this shouldn’t be the case, they’ve actually been turned into privilege but this is what one must do, by cause of eandsa spanner which has forced claimant to prove need…so we’re definitely in the undeserving/deserving realm which makes many very uncomfortable including myself…

overburdenddonkey – Yes, if I were ever in that position I would go through the procedure, whilst throwing all at it that I could get my hands on. Of what I have read on here for some time now – one should appeal definitely – if you don’t, then you will most likely lose out anyway. A shitty situation to be in, but it would have to be done regardless!

With the release from DWP of the ‘deaths’ figures on Thursday, 27th August – from then on, the clock will be gradually ticking away for IDS.

    • It will signal the end of the road for DUNKO THE CLOWN. No matter what he tries to do, the shit will stick and may lead to this governments downfall.

It is quite fulfilling to watch a worm squirm and that is exactly what this balding cunt is, a proverbial worm…

From the moment he attempts to talk away the DWP carnage he is on a downward spiral, whatever is said will be briskly challenged until the true extent of his killing spree is laid out on the table for all to see.

Smith thinks he can walk away from this untarnished, it is up to us to put him in the witness box of the Old Bailey, his hands turning white as he grips the brass rails and listens to his sentence.

Hanging would be too quick and too kind. I could think of a host of punishments to suit his crime, though nothing would come close to the evil he has dished out on the most vulnerable..

  29. paultheswineherd

And then – this Nazi Government itself needs to be toppled – just like Thatcher’s was. However, they may just topple themselves given enough time (and increasing protests). It’s like the destruction of an old and increasingly unstable cooling tower – the higher they are, the heavier they fall.

Latest news: Re the Chilcott Report – they are suggesting going after Tony Bliar (at long last!) and possibly also other ‘Ministers’ in his Government.
Shame that they do not immediately announce an investigation into the mad & bad gobshite IDS, (the mass murderer of benefit claimants), as well as the other apparrent possible ‘lawbreaker’ Judge Mark Rowland.

    • IDS is far more evil and worse than Himmler.

      • Fen Tiger yes he is a scumbag. A friend of mine who was a taxi driver had worked for thirty years and had a heart attack, then a stroke. He is learning to speak again and has difficulty with coordination and he is terrified because Smith will want him working as soon as possible. He loved his job. But he knows how the system will treat him. As someone said on this blog we are all in a situation where illness can strike at anytime. My uncle a retired plasterer told me he would not like to be young with a family because of the way these evil ruthless politicians treat people. We are all an illness away from Maximus.

  33. Hard working family visits Dismaland, the place where all your dreams come true.

The arty-farty collective is confused what is the point of visiting a facsimile of Dismaland when the citizens are already living in the real Dismaland that those very artists and social engineers helped construct?

    • Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it… Are all art exhibitions a waste of time? People have always made works of art, partly to satirise the establishment/consumer society if they think something needs said/drawn/sculpted – not everyone will want to go or live near enough to queue up. Should we not have the angel of the north or Anthony gormless’ figures on the beach at Liverpool in that case? Lady Chatterbox, rodin’s ‘thinker’?… What have any of these people done but use different means to create/provoke thought/entertain? Not sure we needed ‘My Bed’ so much, but someone made it – what can you do?

      • Mary Shelley’s ‘frankinstein’ – roundly not received with open arms initially but look at how it’s run & run. Oscar Wilde ~ sent to gaol for being disapproved of ..

IDS/McScameron should be taken on a tour of ‘the real’ dismal land though & let them see the divisions they’ve created ~ if only they had eyes to see or brains to think with.

      • Works more like a conditioning tool, a diorama reinforcing the real world Dismaland, a diorama that enchants the visitors condition as puerile spectator and consumer.

Think it says more about the dystopian state of mind of the contemporary artists that conspired the Dismaland diorama than anything else.

Work at the jobcentre but you won’t be paid

    Camden New Journal – 13th Aug 2015

BENEFIT claimants are being offered full-time but unpaid work – at a jobcentre.

An unemployed man, who did not wish to be named, said it felt “galling” to be invited to work without pay at Kentish Town Jobcentre.

The 9am-to-5pm “work experience” placement was one of several non-paid positions being “heavily suggested” by staff to those out of work, according to the jobseeker.

Welfare officers can “sanction” housing and unemployment benefits and many people feel they could lose money if they do not take on voluntary positions.

The unemployed man said: “The jobs listed are a mixture of paid and voluntary positions, but the jobcentre was wholly unpaid.

“I’ve been looking for paid work for a while now, but this is the first I’ve seen of actual unpaid labour within the jobcentre itself. They have been downsizing significantly and I assume this is how they’re retaining staff on the cheap.”

A spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions said work experience at the jobcentre could be good for a jobseeker’s CV, adding: “People who are looking for work experience can get a huge amount out of a stint of work experience at the jobcentre, where they will learn new skills, like customer service and communication.”

Well he’s not going to learn much about those skills in a Jobcentre is he.

    • Another Fine Mess

Is that someone’s home against the left hand window of the JC.

    • Given time all jobcentre paid staff will be sacked and replaced by an army of unpaid workers supplied by a work programme provider and that these WPP placements will be placed in front line desk jobs dealing with benefit claims of their fellow un-employed people.

I can expect the next time I have to sign on that my claim will be handled by some un-employed chav (high on drugs and drink) currently on two years attendance of the work programme instead of my usual JCP advisor…

    • “People who are looking for work experience can get a huge amount out of a stint of work experience at the jobcentre, where they will learn new skills, like customer service and communication.”

LOL! WTF! Now i’ve heard it all! Excuse me while i writhe on the floor laughing ma heid aff! Customer fucking service???!!! For someone who’s probably the most unsuitable soul to be working with the public!! I mean they waffle on and on with this absolute BS. Never mind this shit where are the jobs? The real jobs with a decent proper pay at the end of the week/month. People don’t need this BS experience they can get that on the job while they work. What a total outright farce the DWP and JCP are. They should be shut down and disbanded as not fit for purpose.

Meanwhile back in the real world, instead of the fake one that the Tories and New Labour inhabit, it’s plastered all over a daily paper up here: “JOBCENTRE PLUS; REGIME OF CRUELTY” Then it go’s on to detail their lies and friggin’ deviant conduct. How they try to cheat and sanction people to climb the greasy pole and how folks are sanctioned for no legitimate reason.

It’s unreal how this is going on and no one has been brought to book about all the deaths related to benefit sanctions and abuse of power by the DWP.

How much can one department get away with before the law has to intervene and do something?

Man, 39, given document containing someone else’s personal information at job centre

    Leicester Mercury – 18th Aug 2015

A 39-year-old man says he is “disgusted” with a Leicester job centre after he was given a document containing someone else’s personal information.

The Department for Work and Pensions has launched an investigation into the incident.

Henry Mavesere went to the job centre in Charles Street on Thursday, August 6.

However, after his appointment, instead of being handed paperwork containing his details, he left with a document that included a woman’s name, address and postcode, mobile and landline phone number, date of birth and national insurance number.

Mr Mavesere said he was concerned that his sensitive information could have also been handed to a stranger.

Mr Mavesere, of Stoneygate, Leicester, said: “I am disgusted, to be honest.

“I should be able to trust these people. If I give them my information it should be safe.

“I signed up with the job centre and instead of printing off my details, they handed me personal details of another client.

“I am worried about my personal details in case they could be with somebody else.

“Someone could have my details now and I don’t know who it is.”

Mr Mavesere said he phoned the woman whose personal information he had been given.

When he explained what had happened, she was shocked.

He said: “She was not happy at all. She asked me to send her a copy.”

Mr Mavesere has since contacted the job centre about the issue and has been asked to attend a meeting.

A spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions said: “We take the security of personal information extremely seriously and are conducting a full investigation into this incident.

“We have spoken to Mr Mavesere and the other claimant affected and apologised. We are arranging for the documents to be retrieved as soon as possible.”

That`s what happens when the DWP don`t pay their workers.

    • Another day in the incompetent DWP. First they concoct cock and bull scare stories about the good thing about sanctions, using stolen images of people coupled with made up fairy stories ”based’ upon real customer conversations; and now they are swapping sensitive information of two unemployed people.

No wonder I keep my universal jobmatch account blocked from the cunts apart from the time I go to the job centre myself. 99% of the time my UJM account to the wankers is blocked for good reason. Under the data protection act and article 8 of the European Court of Human Rights Act, I have the lawfully right to protect my own identity, personal information and a right to a private family life.

The DWP and that complete big wanker Smithy are NOT above the law. If I was one of those people who had their life swapped I would have took the DWP to high court and sued the bastards for everything they have.

    • Straight up breach of Data Protection Act. I assume this applicable to DWP? Have reported Crapita (threat letter to addressed to me started “Dear [another client of their “overpayment” recovery dept”]) !! It was an easy procedure, nothing happened yet tho ?

DWP staff given suicide guidance ahead of Iain Duncan Smith’s welfare reforms

    Independent – 25th Aug 2015

Frontline staff at the Department for Work and Pensions have been given guidance on how to deal with suicidal benefit claimants, it has been reported.

The Sunday Herald newspaper says workers have been handed a six-point plan on how to deal with people denied benefits who appear to be suicidal.

Staff at call centres have been instructed to allow rejected claimants for Universal Credit to talk about their intention to kill themselves.

A DWP spokesman did not deny that the guidance had been handed out, and said: “Our frontline Jobcentre staff work hard every day supporting people to find jobs and it is only right we provide a range of training and guidance to assist them in their work.”

      Herald Scotland – 23rd Aug 2015

manager is then meant to rush over to listen in to the call and workers – who insist they have had no formal training in the procedure – must “make some assessment on the degree of risk” by asking a series of questions.
One section of the six-point plan, titled “gather information”, demands that staff allow claimants to talk about their intention to commit suicide.
The call-centre workers, who earn between £15,000 and £17,000 a year, must “find out specifically what is planned, when it is planned for, and whether the customer has the means-to-hand”, according to the guidance seen by the Sunday Herald.
Staff are also warned in the plan that they may have “thoughts and feelings” about the situation afterwards and offered reassurance that “this is all part of the process of coping with the experience and is normal”.
Glasgow-based call-centre workers have accused the DWP of asking them to carry out the job of a psychologist or social worker.
The SNP have accused the UK Government of “playing a dangerous game with people’s lives”.
Universal Credit combines six working-age benefits – including housing benefit, Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and tax credits – into a single payment. Although not yet fully rolled out across the UK, Universal Credit is already available to benefit claimants in more than 40 so-called “Jobcentre areas” in Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Inverness and Dumfries as well as parts of Lanarkshire, Aberdeenshire and Ayrshire.

      • Mental Health Professional

The whole problem with this approach is that (generally speaking) people who threaten to commit suicide don’t follow through – they just do it! Also people who are intent on suicide do it in such a way that they won’t be ‘discovered’ and perform the act by irreversible means e.g. hanging, shotgun; this applies particularly to men who outnumber women by a large margin in ‘successful’ suicide attempts. A poignant case that comes to mind is the young girl in England who was found hanging from a tree in the woods. The DWP cannot wash their hands of their responsibilities by claiming that they have a pink laminated card ‘suicide prevention plan in operation’ since it is predicated on the false assumption that potential suicide victims will announce their plans, and furthermore announce their plans to DWP staff; members of an organisation that is directly responsible for their predicament and consequential suicidal feelings; members of an organisation who drove them to this state in the first place, If we are not careful we are going to reach a situation where benefits claimants are just found ‘hanging from a tree in the woods’.

The same modus operandi applies when it comes to acts of violence. People who are going to commit acts of violence, in the main, do not ‘flag them up’ beforehand by, for instance, issuing threats; they just do it – something for jobcentre staff to bear in mind.

The DWP is treading on very dangerous ground here for both claimants and their staff.

yep a reasonable summation, to which i’m sure we could add a great deal more…

        • Only because i was scared of myself the feelings i was getting, in a few lucid minutes i called my doctors and said look.. if i dont get help now i am worried .. i could see myself getting worse and that was the only reason why i am still here.. If i hadnt had the courage i would have wandered off and “vanished” into nowhere..had it all planned.. and the thoughts are still there in the back of my head

          • Greenwood4727 – I’m glad you reached out for help and I’m glad your doctor was decent and actually helped you instead of fobbing you off. I know I don’t know you but I can tell from reading your posts that you are a decent human being, and the more decent people there are alive in the world the better it is for humanity in general, and the more it helps boost others who may be suffering.

    • Just by having to go to a depressing jobcentre is more than enough to make me feel suicidal for the rest of the fortnight.

      • And it takes a whole fortnight since your last visit before you begin to feel a bit better then you suddenly realise you have to visit the God-forsaken infernal shit-hole all over again… 😦

        • Same experience … 😦

          • Ditto+… & (minimum) recovery around 1 year:around 6 months spent going there. The amount of time before some of those feelings can even start to reduce.

And/or they’ll pretty much be there at some level, lower (even much lower) rather than ever-present/severe. They won’t ever be forgotten though & anyone connected with the dept for barriers to work and sanctions should be having a long, hard look at themselves & at what they are doing to earn a crust.

It’s not an easy thing to describe unless experienced. Hence the reason for support groups (eg. people who share or have been through particular illnesses or have in some way been through similar traumatic experience/s). I used to be relatively sanguine & fairly ambivalent about needing to sign on (way back, & in a previous life) not in recent years, obviously, when more accurately can describe feeling fairly traumatised/as if about to go into battle. & it absolutely is a battle (war) in all respects.

As for the DWP; i want to see them investigated for complicity in the deaths of thousands of our fellow citizens. The DM’s that made the decisions need to be investigated with a view to criminal proceedings being taken against them for the complete dereliction of duty.they have shown regarding the poorest and most vulnerable in our society.

Unions slam DWP for hiring following job losses in June – See more at:

    Recruiter – 25th Aug 2015

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has come under fire from unions for recruiting 2,800 people on short-term contracts after shedding thousands of staff in June.

The new jobs at the DWP aim to help implement welfare reforms over the next 18 months.

The department is currently rolling out Universal Credit, a single monthly payment for people in or out of work. Launched in 2013, it replaces income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance and income-related Employment and Support Allowance. The gradual transition is to be completed by 2017.

But the DWP has come under fire from civil service union PCS (Public and Commercial Services) for the recruitment drive, with the union claiming the department shed 3,671 jobcentre staff in June. The union said it believes the figures show many of the new jobs are in similar areas and the work could have carried out by existing staff, with “minimal” retraining and set-up costs.

In a statement, a DWP spokesperson said the department is currently undertaking big welfare reforms and recruiting people on short fixed-term contracts to cover this 18-month period.

The spokesperson added there were no compulsory redundancies in June but there had in fact been 3,824 voluntary exits of staff in that month.

I can see things going wrong. I don`t care I`m in work.

    • so the good people will leave, because they cant cope anymore, leaving the nasty .. and what about the “volunteers” at the dwp,, i know of at least one who claims they are on ESA, and are in the job centres “helping” other people on ESA get a job.. of course she is not getting paid for it..
How many other people will the dwp replace.. I told the pcs union this months ago but no reply.. now its happening

  58. I hate them as well but he is the face behind it all. He should be swinging for his crimes and so should anyone who has stopped someones benefit. Stopping someones benefit is attempted murder.

    • I was horrified (still am) and then quite quickly petrified on being informed, in the middle of an open-plan office in 2012, that the total massive amount of benefit could be withheld – for a minimum of 3 weeks. And it would depend on what I said next (my ‘reasons’). It would have been for (allegedly) missing a meeting ahead of an initial JSA payment being made.

Three months later (in January), i saw the first (for me) direct & incontrovertible evidence that this really was/is summarily happening, when talking to a single parent whose ‘lone parent adviser’ (!) had sanctioned her – over xmas – for ‘not doing enough & etc’. We were on a (self-funded) computer course. Her 12 year-old daughter had been poorly over xmas (there was a lot of sickness around/it was freezing) & they had had no hot water. I will always remember the look on her face as she was trying not to re-live/trying to move on from (?!) the experience 2/3 weeks after it had happened to them – having managed to continue making it in to the course while sanctioned/just after
after. I’m not sure I would have. Happy Xmas from JCP-…. Ebenezer Scrooge could not have done a better job before visits from the ghosts of decision-makers past. Those shady characters, whoever they are, should come out into the light & pass their sentences in public if their consciences allow them to do this within the limits of their job deception (description).

Iain Duncan Smith – probably the most hated man in Britain

    He’s hit the unemployed
    He’s hit the working poor
    He’s hit the poor
    He’s hit the sick
    He’s hit the physically disabled
    He’s hit the mentally disabled
He’s hit the physical & mentally disabled
    He’s hit disabled children
He’s hit people with cancer and other diseases
    He’s hit people with addictions
    He’s hit the homeless
He’s hit, or is soon going to hit, most if not all working age benefit claimants

From tomorrow, let’s take back control of this situation and hit this fucking bastard in all possible and practicable ways that are available to us.

Also, to Johnny Void – thank you for this website and for allowing us to say exactly what we think and mean – it is greatly appreciated by all of us

  61. Shirley. I gather tickets are now being touted so who can afford to get in. Good one re “Gormless” btw, at least Banksy doesn’t suck up lootery cash for second rate public art or memorials for our “glorious dead”

  62. I’d love to know why IDS hates disabled people so much.

  63. IDS is clearly not in full control of the JCP shop floor it is clear to anyone that signs on that the work coaches are running amok, I know IDS is setting the agenda but there also a contempt for claimants on the shop floor that runs parallel with the official agenda but is distinct and independent of it.

Who knows maybe the work coaches hype up on TV poverty porn before going into work.

  64. Johnny – You are WRONG. If you focus all your efforts on attacking just one politician then you absolutely guarantee your failure to change anything at all. Even in the (extremely unlikely) event that public pressure could force IDS out, there isn’t a shortage of more IDS clones waiting within the Tory and New Labour organisations.

You can ONLY make a difference by working to support a viable and more moral alternative…..

    • One step at a time.. remember when they said Emma Harrison was the poster child.. what happened.. she ran.. I personally publicised internationally what Jonty Olliff cooper said when he worked at a4e and made a comment and he quit his job shortly after.. I spoke to the bbc, radio 4 newspapers about a4e.. i even spoke to some australian reporters about a4e as they are in australia as well.. We have to fight one step at a time, too many times we have too many enemies that our efforts are minimal..

    • Jem seems to be a lovely man but he is still, unavoidably, a member of the Labour party … & they haven’t been making any difference. Perhaps he’ll have the will and the support to start redredressing balances but he’s going to be working with Reeves/Burnham & so it seems highly unlikely he’ll be able to bin Sanctions/WCA even if he’d perhaps really like to. I’m not going back there. Wild horses & all that, but if there were more corbybesque~types (many more) alongside him we might stand a chance of some tiny fairness being introduced.

The 11 most senseless benefit sanction decisions known to man

Benefit sanctions, where a job centre can suspend or dock a claimant’s welfare payments, are becoming increasingly controversial.

The impact of the sanctions vary: in the most extreme cases a person can lose their benefits for three years. Reasons for withdrawing benefits can range to being late for a meeting, failing to turn up on time, or leaving several jobs voluntarily.

In the wake of a diabetic ex-soldier dying after his benefits were sanctioned and three disgruntled ex-DWP civil servants going rogue to help welfare claimants who believe their payments have been wrongly docked, we look at the most ridiculous reasons for sanctioning benefits yet.

“A man with heart problems who was on Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) had a heart attack during a work capability assessment. He was then sanctioned for failing to complete the assessment.„”

    Via Debbie Abrahams MP.

“A man who had gotten a job that was scheduled to begin in two weeks’ time was sanctioned for not looking for work as he waited for the role to start.„”

    Via the Guardian.

“Army veteran Stephen Taylor, 60, whose Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) was stopped after he sold poppies in memory of fallen soldiers.„”

    Via the Daily Mirror.

“A man had to miss his regular appointment at the job centre to attend his father’s funeral. He was sanctioned even though he told DWP staff in advance.„”

    Via Political Scrapbook.

“Ceri Padley, 26, had her benefits sanctioned after she missed an appointment at the jobcentre – because she was at a job interview.„”

    Via the Daily Mail.

“A man got sanctioned for missing his slot to sign on – as he was attending a work programme interview. He was then sanctioned as he could not afford to travel for his job search.„”

    Via Citizen’s Advice.

“Sean Halkyward, 24, said his benefits were sanctioned because he looked for too many jobs in one week.„”

    Via Pontefract and Castleford Express

“Mother-of-three Angie Godwin, 27, said her benefits were sanctioned after she applied for a role job centre staff said was beyond her.„”

    Via Get Reading.

“Sofya Harrison was sanctioned for attending a job interview and moving her signing-on to another day.„”

    Via the Guardian.

“Michael, 54, had his benefits sanctioned for four months for failing to undertake a week’s work experience at a charity shop. The charity shop had told him they didn’t want him there.„”

2.Man sanctioned for missing an appointment at the jobcentre on the day of his brother’s unexpected death. He had tried to phone Jobcentre Plus to explain, but could not get through and left a message which was consequently not relayed to the appropriate person.

3.Man who carried out 60 job searches but missed one which matched his profile.

4.Man had an appointment at the jobcentre on the Tuesday, was taken to hospital with a suspected heart attack that day, missed the appointment and was sanctioned for nine weeks.

5.Man who secured employment and was due to start in three weeks. He was sanctioned in the interim period because JCP told him he was still duty bound to send his CV to other companies.

6.Young couple who had not received any letters regarding an appointment that was thus subsequently missed. Their address at the Department for Work and Pensions was wrongly recorded. They were left with no money for over a month.

7.One case where the claimant’s wife went into premature labour and had to go to hospital. This caused the claimant to miss an appointment. No leeway given.

8.One man sanctioned for attending a job interview instead of Jobcentre Plus – he got the job so did not pursue grievance against the JCP.

9.Man who requested permission to attend the funeral of his best friend; permission declined; sanctioned when he went anyway.

10.A diabetic sanctioned and unable to buy food was sent to hospital by GP as a consequence.

Thousands have died after being found fit for work, DWP figures show

Campaigners demand welfare overhaul after statistics reveal 2,380 people died between 2011 and 2014 shortly after being declared able to work

      Guardian – Thursday 27 August 2015 12.43 BST

More than 80 people a month are dying shortly after being declared “fit for work” according to new data, prompting campaigners to call for an overhaul of the government’s controversial welfare regime.

Statistics released by the Department for Work and Pensions on Thursday show that 2,380 people died between December 2011 and February 2014 shortly after a work capability assessment (WCA) found they were able to work.

The administration of the WCA by officials has been widely criticised as crude and inaccurate by campaigners. There have been hundreds of thousands of appeals of fit-for-work decisions over the last few years, about four in 10 of which have succeeded.

But there was widespread acceptance that the data should be treated with caution. Because the cause of death was not recorded, it is impossible to show whether a death was linked to an incorrect assessment.

The data, compiled in response to freedom of information requests, also revealed that between December 2011 and February 2014, 50,580 recipients of employment and support allowance benefit (ESA) had died within 14 days of their claim ending.

The DWP defended the accuracy of the WCA. It said: “Any causal effect between benefits and mortality cannot be assumed from these statistics. Additionally, these isolated figures provide limited scope for analysis and nothing can be gained from this publication that would allow the reader to form any judgment as to the effects or impacts of the work capability assessment.”

It added: “DWP does not hold information on the reason for death, therefore no causal effect between the WCA decision and the number of people who died within a year of that decision should be assumed from these figures.”

        • quote – “DWP does not hold information on the reason for death, therefore no causal effect between the WCA decision and the number of people who died within a year of that decision should be assumed from these figures.”

  77. “SNP CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO HALT SANCTIONS”

The Government must immediately stop all benefit sanctions until the system can be properly reformed, the Scottish National Party has said.

SNP welfare spokesperson Eilidh Whiteford made the call in response to reports that DWP staff were being put under pressure to hit targets for the number of people whose benefits are stopped.

“All sanctions need to be halted immediately until a fundamental root and branch independent review of the DWP’s sanctions and conditionality can be carried out,” she said in a statement.

“There is clearly a culture of pressure within the DWP which forces staff to refer people for sanctions for fear of retribution against themselves.

“Staff should instead be encouraged to make well-thought through decisions in the first place which would allow more people to move through the system and there would be less people desperately waiting to find out if they will have enough to make ends meet.”

STOP turning the JCP work coaches into the victims of the sanction regime for it is an insult to claimants and a big fat propaganda lie – the same false solidarity that destroyed the labour party in scotland.

Tens of thousands of sanctioned claimants could testify against the lie that work coaches were in anyway reluctant to sanction.

    • Just because JCP work roaches have a bit of pressure put on them to respond to the master requests to sanction, does not make them a victims!!!

    • overburdenddonkey

yep they love it…the WCA/EandSA should also be scrapped….and also sanctions @ this low level of incomes…a max sanction of last resort of £30/wk off £140/wk would be acceptable i’m sure to many….

      • a max sanction of last resort of £30/wk off £140/wk would be acceptable

No it would not be acceptable there must be no conditionality the claim should only be based on need.

Conditionality not only exposes the claimant to the risk of sanction but to slavery.

        Conditionality is the problem.

        • overburdenddonkey

but i mostly always cite sanctions and conditionaliy in my posts so i now consider this as being implicit…

      • It really wouldn’t be, Obd, & i don’t know why you’re suggesting we should compromise by accepting lesser sanctions ~ the same set-ups as now will stay in place unless it is stopped absolutely.

The amount being paid is so inadequate – £10/day? It doesn’t last the fortnight. Everything owned will perish over months/years & no essentials other than food/some bills can really be bought – so to cut that is barbaric. Why are you suggesting anything else – we don’t need to do this?

        • overburdenddonkey

          s n
left with £110/wk, a min of £15.70/day is better than £70odd/wk being reduced to 0….there is always going to be some conditionality ie filling in the forms, going to jcp to sign on…but that should be it ie no WP etc….

          • But unemployed people now being punished by hugely inadequate payments, being treated as criminal – or worse – and expected to fulfil ludicrous sets of ‘proofs’/prevented from looking for work in their own time/way. deductions aren’t what people need unless we agree they need to be threatened by more than just being out of work/less well off. It might be a least worst option for some people – they should be left alone & so should the rest of us! we do not need ‘coaches’ or threats/punishment.

    • I would rather leave & sign on, with all that entails, rather than do their job. They should have downed pens & walked out in disgust if they were decent human beings.

  79. 91,740 is a shocking figure and much higher than even i thought, by a long way.

It’s clear that there needs to be full investigation into the actions of IDS and the DWP and their role in all of this.

I would say the relatives of the victims should now be pushing for criminal proceedings to be instigated against all those concerned where there is a chance that it can be proven in a court of law.

Known number of deaths while claiming incapacity benefits nears 100,000

  80. Nice time to release stats and info, when the boss is away.

    • Raining – we can’t say the various names he used in the past because johnny will moderate OUR comments if we do, but he’s someone who comes on this blog and others like it just to insult and bait other commenters – he targeted obd firstly, then me, then donna. He called obd donkey-sh*t-for-brains, me fat-arsed scrounging c*nt scum, and donna f***ing stupid in recent posts, and that’s just the insults and verbal abuse I care to remember… I believe he does actually work part-time as a scientist with molecular biology as his speciality which was what he initially claimed to do, which was why I made a comment several posts back about him being wasted as a cleaner, but he is incredibly dense in many other respects. I particularly suspected he was the same person when he congratulated poor maria on not receiving any of the state benefits which she was due, instead of commisserating with her, and he said “good for you, not relying on the state, like some on here, which was an obvious reference to me.

      • … ‘borrows’ expressions (oh, the bitter irony :-)) and randomly re-use them?

      • Fellow. You’re right about some of the things I said, but mostly you’re wrong. I think you are confusing posts from more than person. But then that doesn’t matter. On an anonymous forum what matters is the principle and morality of what is said, not who said it.

You’re last quote was spot-on. It WAS a reference to you, because you said you would say anything, true or false, in order to continue claiming benefits while you wait for your god to tell you his plan. Do you still stand by that?

        • elbow grease – I’ll temporarily suspend my self-imposed ban on replying to you just long enough to correct your misquote on what I wrote in a previous post, and also since you are not swearing and insulting me at the moment. I am quite sure that I have NOT mixed up comments from more than one person and wrongly attributed them to you, and this is very evident from your most recent comments, but then you’re not quite clever enough to work that out.
I said previously, and I may be paraphrasing slightly since I can’t be bothered to check several posts back, “I tell them whatever I have to tell them in order to continue to receive benefits.” You are correct in adding the true or false clarification, although why you would have to add that is beyond me, since it is self-evident.
At no point did I say that I am WAITING for God to tell me His plan for me. If you had read my previous comment properly ie intelligently, you would have realised that I already KNOW God’s plan for me, ie he has already conveyed that information to me, since I also said that that plan will come to fruition in a short time ie months not years, or as I believe I put it “in the not too distant future”, and that the Jobcentreminus workers would learn of it then.
PS As I understand it from Maria’s own account of her situation, Maria gave up trying to claim benefits in despair at all the horrendous obstacles put in her way re hours of caring for her parents etc, she didn’t decide not to claim them as a matter of principle, which was why commisseration and not commendation was appropriate.
I am not going to enter into any communication with you about any other matter.

      • P.S. – Fellow …To get back to the real issue. Do you have any rational suggestions to address the real problem of unjust and immoral DWP policies which are causing unnecessary misery and even death? OBD clearly hasn’t got a clue. He thinks abolishing the House of Lords will solve it! How about you?

      • P.P.S. Fellow – If somebody like ‘Maria’ decides not to claim benefits because she and her family can manage OK without them, isn’t that a good thing because it leaves more for the people who are desperate?

Although altruism isn’t mentioned in your bible, don’t you think it’s a nice idea? Perhaps you should think about it……

  81. “IDS special adviser gets peerage … on day DWP admits thousands died after ‘fit to work’ assessments”

    http://politicalscrapbook.net/2015/08/ids-special-adviser-gets-peerage-on-day-dwp-admits-thousands-died-after-fit-to-work-assessments/

  82. paultheswineherd

Well, fuck me! The DWP as expected have, for all intents done a ‘Tony Bliar’ and have picked up the fantastic skill of spin statistics. Of course, we all suspected it I think. However, that does not cover the fact that all of these poor people have committed suicide or died, either partly or fully caused by the stress of a cruel and savage State condoned system (so very reminiscent of Nazi Germany pre and during WWII). By ‘fairly’ cleverly side-stepping the ‘real’ numbers and issues involved – they think that for now at least, they have got off free of ‘charge’.
Well DWP and your horrific psychopath of a boss in the form of Iain Duncan Smith most definitely have not. You may run and you may hide, but both of your clocks are now ticking relentlessly away and before they reach the magic ‘zero’ time – you will, I am sure, pay the price required for your crimes.
The ‘next’ Appeal in November, by then, may be too late for you both.
As usual (I have not seen Sky News yet!) but the 6 PM BBC News did not mention the ‘figures’ that have been released today, not even once. They did, however, make sure they did not the absolutely scandalous giving of ‘Peerages’ by the spiv Dave to so many of his ex ‘Conservative’ MP’s & Ministers. He included Douglas Hogg, an ex-Minister who was convicted of ‘fiddling his expenses’ (where have I heard that term before?). He, like many previous ‘criminal’ MP’s (and ALL of the rest of today’s announced bastards) will be welcomed into this totally unelected house of very sleepy, often drunken, sleazy, rich and corrupt old farts who can sit on their fat arses whilst further (without express permission!) relieving the ‘hard-working British taxpayer’ of even more of their money.
One real surprise for me was that old river slime Chris Huhne (of driving point conviction fame) was not also put in there.
Even the toilet bowl scum in the form of the Liberal Democrats were awarded for their treachury to the British Electorate. Red Labour had a few successes as well. Also, surprise, surprise, a few ex-Councillors had their ‘expensive/expense paid’ work (HaHa!!) for their local County community well rewarded.
Once they get into the HoL they will be cosseted for the rest of their lives, at the taxpayer’s expense. Not for them having to worry about where the next penny is coming from, no signing-on for them or ‘sanctions’ to worry anything about.
What a stinking sham of a ‘democracy’. A Neo-Nazi Government and an increasingly cruel State (with a State sanctioned murderer at the very top of one of the most important Departments – the DWP).
ALL of them seem to be able to do exactly what they want, when they like with no-one to answer to – not least, the British electorate who did not even vote them in in the first place due to apathy and a broken corrupt FPTP electoral system. What an absolute load of horseshit.

  83. paultheswineherd

Whoops – correction: The BBC definitely did NOT miss the ‘Peers’ story!
Also in my last night’s IDS post : He’s also hit the young and he promises to hit them even harder in the future. If any justice prevails at all, this mass murderer should get his ‘hit’ before too long, – hopefully a prosecution, swiftly followed by a long jail sentence! HaHa!

    • So, fiddling your expenses gets you a peerage while claiming money you need to live gets you persecuted to death by the very department that is supposed to help you.

Smith has been caught out in an absolute lie to parliament over the existence of these figures, that alone is enough to demand his resignation. Although as he has caused suffering to citizens of Britain on a scale that ISIS could only dream of perhaps it’s time for something a little more drastic. About 500 years ago the rich lived in terror of being poisoned (although, with food hygeine standards of the time it must have been hard to tell) so they made boiling alive the punishment for this “offence” but they came up with an unbelievably barbaric variant. Instead of simply immersing the offender in boiling liquid where he died quickly he was pulled out in agony and lowered in again and again taking a very long time to die. It was such a horrible means of execution that only two people deaths are recorded before it was abolished. It should be reinstated as a just punishment for Iain Duncan Smith

  84. Michelle Mone gets a peerage?????? LOL! What a friggin’ laughing stock the House of Lords House of Commons and the whole Westminster circus is.

“There’s no one I can think of that’s better qualified to help young entrepreneurs from deprived backgrounds to turn a good idea into a flourishing business,” said Iain Duncan Smith, the work and pensions secretary, announcing the appointment.

Well he should know about entrepreneurship and hard work.

Yet, after leaving school without qualifications as a 15-year-old, Mone

I thought the “key to success” was supposed to be education, education, education.

And (probably the second most hated man in Britain) that old and totally unscrupulous Rupert Murdoch should also be put into the dock for his ‘tabloid organisation’s’ shameful and ongoing lying for years and years.
If it wasn’t for him and his News and tabloid rogues – there may have been some justice at least done by now (and we might just have not received another Tory shambles of an old (rent) boy and old-girl ass-licking perverted and sleazy Government). It’s bloody disgraceful in a so-called ‘democracy’.

  86. paultheswineherd

Having just watched Sky News at 10 PM, they obviously do not give a flying fuck about the poor victims of IDS & his DWP either. Not a single word.
They did, however and unsurprisingly definitely cover the ‘new Peers’ story – we just might as well be in North Korea as long as the news media are concerned. Once again – totally shameful and unforgivable.
(It may, or may not be covered in the Paper Review shortly).

  87. paultheswineherd

Small headline on one of the papers in the background – but not a word about it from the presenter or the 2 ‘reviewers’ – is this a surprise? or is this a surprise? There was a ‘technical fault’ (with a break in transmission and a blank silent screen) close to the end of the programme though.
I wonder if our media is ‘fixed’ in any way??????

    • As i pointed out on here sometime agao, all of our media (newspapers, magazines, and every radio and TV channel is tightly controlled and monitored by government. If anything slips through the net, pissy pants David Camoron wets himself and orders a retraction statement and ‘correction’ of the news or facts to satisfy his want and need to control us all by using North Korean scare tactics.

Fuck the telly and newspapers, the real truth is only on the internet and is un-censored. For instance, the recent place tragedy that took place in Shoreham, Kent. On Youtube, not one second of the video showing the plane crash has been cut or docked in any way as has otherwise been heavily edited on BBC or SKY News to remove the moment of impact.

The moment of the plane crash, BBC and SKY will fade or cut away the picture to a soundbite interview from a witness on the ground or some reporter in the news studio wanting to analize what went wrong. Even the audio sound is cut or muffled along with the heavily edited youtube video shown on the telly news.

Anybody on here still think all media in the UK is free from state interference and close monitoring by the creepy bastards in government? Thnk again. It is worse than North Korea, and yet all those slimy wankers in power keep banging on about this is a free country with absolute freedom of speech and all media can do and say as they will without being investigated and heavily fined for ‘distressing’ the public un-intentionally.

Youtube has the full, un-edited raw footage of the recent Shoreham plane crash, unlike what we see as a sanitized version shared across all media platforms.

      • paultheswineherd

Fen – Yes, you are right there – the internet is, as you say the only place that you will find the real truth.
The Newspapers are going to be full of further lying shit now as Rebekah Brookes (Cameron’s bosom friend!) is on her way back to News Corporation (in a senior position). I bet the old bugger Rupert Murdoch is well over the moon – he’s got his ‘little girl with the big tits’ back once again!!

        • Camoron, along with that other dirty paedo bastard Murdoch have both been time sharing Rebekah Brooks as their shag partner. They are all in it together.

    • Omnibus Collosus

Sky’s ‘live’ transmission is probably on a ‘delay’ and getd re-directed through a series of vetting ‘offices’ i.e. Murdoch, Downing Street for ‘approval’ before it is sent to a ‘playout’ centre where it enters the transmission network. What you describe doesn’t really happen in modern broadcast systems; we are not living in the 1940s.

  88. Thousands have died after being found fit for work, DWP figures show…………Scumbag Ian Duncan Smith will be delighted with the results of his governments ruthless campaign against the disabled. Welcome to Neo Nazi Britain.

  89. “NO LINK TO DEATHS, JUST 2380 COINCIDENCES”

Nearly 90 people a month are dying shortly after being declared fit for work, according to new data that has prompted campaigners and Labour leadership contenders to call for an overhaul of the government’s welfare regime. Statistics released by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on Thursday revealed that 2,380 people died between December 2011 and February 2014 within 14 days of a work capability assessment (WCA) concluding that they were able to work.

Ministers insisted that the data could not be used to link claimant deaths to its welfare reforms, but the figures focused attention on the government’s fit-for-work assessment process, which has been dogged by controversy in recent years.

Anita Bellows, researcher with campaign group Disabled People Against the Cuts, said it would take time to fully analyse the figures, but added the group was “very worried by the number of people who died within two weeks of being found fit for work”.

The mortality data was compiled in response to freedom of information requests, and was released by the department only following a ruling by the Information Commissioner’s Office in April.

  91. To complete the fairy-tale of the girl who left the mean streets of Glasgow and made a fortune after dreaming up the perfect bra, she is all set to be awarded a peerage.
…Lady Mone. What a distinguished ring that has. But scatch the surface and cracks appear in the facade.
That Tower Bridge apartment, for example. It has been written that Ms Mone bought the flat — which would have cost many millions — after selling her £2 million Mayfair apartment.
In fact, Ms Mone does not own it: it is a serviced apartment taken out on a short-term rental. What’s more, her Mayfair flat was rented, too.
Ms Mone says she has never publicly discussed which homes she owns — but equally she hasn’t bothered to correct the reports.
It all feeds the illusion of a powerful businesswoman at her peak.
…..Then we come to the matter of Ms Mone’s wealth, which, given her recent appointment, is an important consideration.
By her own account, she is a phenomenally successful businesswoman. The blurb for her autobiography, My Fight To The Top, says Michelle is ‘one of the most successful businesswomen of her generation’ and ‘an inspiration for entrepreneurs the world over’.
….Yesterday, the respected Herald newspaper in Scotland published a leader, explaining why it had chosen to draw attention to questions over Ms Mone’s business record.
For despite all Ms Mone’s energy, Ultimo has been in serious trouble since 2011. In the 18 months up to October 2012, the company lost nearly £550,000.
In the subsequent three months, it made ‘significant losses’ (these are the words used on the accounts report, which do not show the precise figures) and there were further ‘significant losses’ in the remaining 11 months of 2013, with the directors predicting further losses for 2014.
In 2009, the firm’s directors owed the company a large amount of money. At the end of the year, they owed £680,000. Two years later, they owed £862,993.
These accounts are hardly those of a thriving business, and they raise worrying questions about whether Ms Mone is best qualified to tutor the disadvantaged on how to set up successful businesses.
….The fabulous penthouse flat was rented, not owned.
….All this does make you wonder whether 10 Downing Street bothered to do any homework on the subject of Ms Mone.

  94. “KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ROWLAND”

  95. Well done MIKE SIVIER for bringing these figures to life. You have campaigned tirelessly against the monster that is the DWP and it’s band of PCS assassins.

Thank you for all your hard work, my friend.

If anyone deserves a knighthood, you and johnny would be at the top of my list along with Anita Bellows who has also given up her life to bring these evil bastards to justice.

  96. FROM MIKE SIVIER

The Department for Work and Pensions has admitted defeat in its attempt to hide the number of people who have died while claiming incapacity benefits since November 2011 – and has announced that the number who died between January that year and February 2014 is a shocking 91,740.

This represents an increase to an average of 99 deaths per day or 692 per week, between the start of December 2011 and the end of February 2014 – compared with 32 deaths per day/222 per week between January and November 2011.

The DWP has strenuously asserted that “any causal effect between benefits and mortality cannot be assumed from these statistics”.

It is correct to make this point.

The DWP has also claimed that “these isolated figures provide limited scope for analysis and nothing can be gained from this publication that would allow the reader to form any judgement as to the effects or impacts of the Work Capability Assessment”.

However, the increase in the frequency of these deaths is enough to raise questions about the way the incapacity benefit system is being run – questions that demand full, frank and immediate answers.

For example, the work-related activity group is composed entirely of people who are expected to recover from their illnesses and be well enough to return to work within a year. In that group, there should be no deaths at all – barring accidents. Why have nearly 10,000 people lost their lives after being assigned there?

Deaths in the support group and the assessment phase are more problematic because they involve people who do have serious illnesses, many of whom may be expected to die while claiming. But are these deaths being hastened artificially by the DWP’s treatment of them?

Iain Duncan Smith ‘should resign over disability benefit death figures’, says Jeremy Corbyn

    Independent – 27th Aug 2015

Iain Duncan Smith should resign after the release of statistics showing thousands of people died soon after being found fit to work in disability benefit tests, the frontrunner for the Labour leadership has said.

Jeremy Corbyn called for the Work and Pensions Secretary to step down, and said the Work Capability Assessments had left some disabled people in “despair”.

“He should never have been appointed. Yes, he should resign because these figures are so frightening and so disgusting,” he told a hustings event hosted by the Daily Mirror newspaper.

“I’ve had people with mental health difficulties as well as physical difficulties who are absolutely in despair because they’ve been declared fit for work and are absolutely not.”

and/or what was going on, they had no idea what info would be helpful/available to them…and terror gripped their minds, the info that they required to be helped with, is simply not freely available, why should it even occur to them that they’re in need of info??? …they have to search it out, and they can’t cos they don’t know where to look and/or even if it out there they’re blind to it….this is why many have died….so the info is NOT easily available, and there is no reason why many people would look for it UNLESS they knew the truth about our system and therefore doubted it which is why blogs such as these are vital but then only when one has been alerted to our toxic system….fyi this is my considered OPINION based on facts…how would david clapson know to look for the info he needed or even what questions to ask or even that he could….? • Elbow Grease

You SERIOUSLY think that saying you managed to sit a couple of exams many years ago proves that you’re not lazy??? For fuck’s sake, every child in the UK can do that!

The fact that you couldn’t even be bothered to read about Corbyn’s position on the DWP and WCA before spouting irrelevant crap tells an entirely different story! So, do you have an opinion about how to reform the DWP or not?

                • overburdenddonkey

bollocks i never said anything irrelevant about corbyn….so i’ve proved my point now you try to change the subject matter well i’m obviously NOT lazy i never have been, being a FULLY SKILLED TIME SERVED 1968 ON, HGV MECHANIC… WITH DISTINCTIONS IN ALL OF MY EXAMS….you pick and choose what you represent….

Let’s imagine a man who sat some exams many years ago and did pretty well. He regarded himself as qualified and skilled man, and felt quite proud of himself. He doesn’t feel good about himself or his past, and even disparages his family for the very principles which keep a roof over his head and food on the table.

Your ‘opinions’ are 100% negative, and therefore ARE just whinging. • Elbow Grease

Why do you say not for at least 20 years? What’s wrong with voting for Corbyn-led Labour or SNP at the NEXT election?

ATOS criticised by MSP after backtrack on pledge

    snp.org – 18th Aug 2015

Joan McAlpine MSP has today criticised ATOS for backtracking on a pledge made at the Welfare Reform Committee to disclose how much money they make from carrying out the UK Government’s Welfare assessments on people with disabilities.

As reported in today’s Daily Record, ATOS boss David Haley told the Welfare Reform Committee in June that he would be forthcoming with how much ATOS is profiting from the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) contract but two months later the firm has U-turned and refused to disclose this information.

PIP is a benefit for people aged 16 to 64 who have a long-term health condition or disability and is replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA). It is understood that at least 20 per cent of current DLA claimants are likely to lose all or some of their current payments

    Joan McAlpine MSP said:

“At the Welfare Reform Committee in June ATOS boss David Haley agreed to disclose the profits that they expect to make from their Personal Independence Payment (PIP) contract.

“It is simply unacceptable that they are now trying to wriggle out of that commitment.

“They had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the Scottish Parliament in the first place – and now it is clear they were just fobbing us off with promises that they had no intention of keeping.

“ATOS are happy enough to do the UK Government’s dirty work by carrying out assessments that can lead to sanctions on welfare payments for disabled people – and they must now come clean on how much money they are making from this contract.

“The Tory Government ministers hide from answering questions Scotland’s Parliament – but the sooner the organ grinder Iain Duncan Smith comes here to explain his decisions, which make life so difficult for so many vulnerable and hardworking Scots, the better.”

We have just launched a national recruitment campaign to recruit more healthcare professionals. They will help us to reduce waiting times by conducting more assessments. The more qualified and skilled doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists we take on, the faster we will be able to see people after they are referred, and the better we can understand and assess their condition.

  101. The backhanders paid to those at the Courts of Human Rights must be phenomenal, given the time they have had to act.
I am of the opinion that the British government also intercepted mail that was destined to the Geneva offices.
Our government are so corrupt they would stop at nothing to avert having to pay huge litigation fines. The bubble is set to burst as DUNKO THE CLOWNs reign of terror is set to come to an end.

PPI claims will seem chickenfeed as the CORPORATE MANSLAUGHTER charges start to flow.

……………and all the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn’t put DUNKO together again………

    • paultheswineherd

Geoff – The ECHR must have some idea of what is going on – otherwise why are they not taking any action? I agree with you that somewhere along the line I strongly suspect that something may be being paid to them to ‘look the other way’. And yes, DUNKO THE CLOWN’s days in Office are numbered. He is going to fall down just like Humpty Dumpty and the only one that may try to put him together again is his ‘good friend’, Cameron.

  102. The Pressure for Ian Duncan Smith to Resign as Secretary of State

  104. Council Tax Reduction Needs to be Protected from any Attacks as it is the Poor who are Suffering Not the Rich

I am Appalled to hear of any possible plans to Reduce Council Tax Reduction which will Further Impoverish the Poor who have Suffered under the Tories More than Enough as it is.

This is in a Tory Britain where there is Homelessness on one Hand and Cuts to Local Government Funding whilst the Rich have had Tax Breaks .

Councils Must Not put Extra Council Tax Burdens upon the Already Poor , It is like Tory Policies Nationally Worse than Disgusting.

The Bulk of Taxation should Not Fall upon the Destitute Poor it Needs
to Fall upon the Rich as they have the Money

  105. Appalled as Well by the Recent Appointments to the House of Lords
Not Least the Lousy Liberal Democrats

The Liberal Democrats Propped Up the Tory Regime between May
2010 AD and March/May 2015 AD so Shame on Them

Many People want to Scrap the House of Lords

  106. “Another piece of fiction from the DWP DEPARTMENT OF DEATH”

A DWP spokesman added “The mortality rate for people who have died while claiming an out-of-work benefit has fallen over a 10-year period. This is in line with the mortality rate for the general working-age population.

Has anyone posting here actually had 35 hours worth of job search activities included on their Claimant Commitment? I’d like to know.

I have just noticed a post on the Benefits & Work website that states that:
“In fact as we know, there have been dozens of cases in which coroner’s inquests have cited the WCA as a contributory factor in claimants deaths”
If this is the case, then the Coroner’s Court is a ‘Court of Law’ in the true sense of the words. I would then have thought that the relatives of these poor people could well have some form of redress legally against the DWP/the WCA provider (or both).
After all, one organisation is ordering it to be carried out and the other organisation is being paid to carry it out on their behalf.
As usual though, IDS is still (in law) also responsible as it was he who is at the head of the whole thing and has given out these policies to follow in the first place.
Incidentally, welcome back to our good friend Geoff Reynolds! Good to see you back on here and that earlier ‘xxxxx’ post is superb. It really tells it just like it is. It is a terrible and totally unnecessary tragedy for all involved.

strikes me as very hypocritical among other things that a middleclass uk subject should accuse a poor person of taking bread from the mouths of poor others…

  111. paultheswineherd

Iain Duncan Smith: Be assured, the clock on you is still ticking.
You may run and you may try to hide – but I can assure you my (not) friend, we will catch up with you and you are going to have to pay for your crimes that you have carried out against the most vulnerable and the poor and the sick and disabled people of Britain. You think that you have got away with all of this. You are wrong. You will pay – and you will pay very dearly in the not too distant future.
