Douglas Carswell Has Got The Society He Wants, Of Course We Hate The Fucking Rich

simpsons“If we don’t do something to fix the glaring inequities in this economy, the pitchforks are going to come for us. No society can sustain this kind of rising inequality. In fact, there is no example in human history where wealth accumulated like this and the pitchforks didn’t eventually come out.”

Nick Hanauer, billionaire and founder of amazon.com speaking at a TED talk in 2014

Former Tory and now UKIP opportunist Douglas Carswell, who has been whining in the press after being jostled and shouted at during yesterday’s fuck the tories protest, has got the world he wants.  In a society where the poorest are ground into the dirt whilst the rich live in unimaginable luxury it is inevitable that the wealthy will become despised.  As ever more people see their lives demolished by poverty pay, benefit cuts, forced work and soaring housing costs then it is no surprise that they start looking around for someone to blame.  And someone is to blame.

The likes of UKIP would have us turn on each other.  Worker versus claimant, pensioner versus the feckless youth, UK citizen versus immigrant.  But we didn’t do this to fucking each other.  Whoever you are, wherever you were born, we are on the same side – they are making sure of that.  If you are a tenant, a worker, a claimant or pensioner then Carswell and his political cronies, whether UKIP or Tory, Labour or Lib Dem, are coming for you.  And behind them the global super rich will cheer as their billions increase at the expense of our lives and futures.

The Tories and the rich they serve want to believe that they are a majority, or at least have the majority’s support.  Their newspapers tell us that anyone who opposes them is an extremist or trouble-maker, on the fringes of society.  Yet thousands have come out onto the streets already in protest at five more years of their shit.  In Scotland, Northern England, Wales, London and other large cities it is the Tories that are the isolated freaks.  Across the entire UK only about 20% of people voted for them.  More people than that didn’t vote at all.  The rich think these people don’t count.  They did in the Summer of 2011 when they were kicking in the windows of the local JD Sports.

Yet even the ferocious anger of the urban youth largely passed them by.  Just a blip they imagined, the plebs letting off a bit of steam.  So cossetted and pampered have their lives been so far that they think we will continue to accept any indignity.  That we will work for peanuts, or nothing at all, and let them sack us on a whim and jail us if we strike.  That we will continue to pay them huge rents to live in hovels and willingly accept being socially cleansed from our homes and communities. That the champagne will flow forever and their lives remain undisturbed as they steal the very world from beneath our feet.

Only a few of the pampered elite have looked to history and realised that this situation cannot last.  That the rage of the working class has conquered dynasties and empires centuries old in the past. That no army, or fucking copper will save them when they finally push too far.  And they will only have themselves to blame when the pitchforks eventually come.

  1. Carswell isn’t the first fascist to run scared on London’s streets and he won’t be the last before this is over.

  2. Ahem, it was Carswell who got up an Early Day Motion to take credit creation away from the banks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMGr-OuXihg This was a well-targeted blow against the heart of the mechanism which causes just the sort of inequality you’re accusing him of promoting, and I suspect it’s why Cameron, the banking scion, was continually very rude to him in the House thereafter, and why he eventually left the Tories to go to UKIP.

  3. Carswell wot done it, If only it were as simple as that eh johnny.

The virtuous left obviously did not contribute to project globalisation, playing the fascist ain’t going to rub no more.

  4. Looks like the left are so ideologically discredited and bankrupt they need the fascist boogie man to arouse the mob into opposition.

    • overburdenddonkey

i find it very frustrating when people refer to the/a left wing, 50 yrs ago there may have been something called left wing in political power, but those days have long gone, if they were ever there…!
all i see is the exploiters and the downtrodden….who constantly demand that we pay them more for living/to live..
the concept now must be global corporate neoliberailism…
the goal must be the reliable supplies of vitality giving vitals of life for all…

      • Maybe wimps like you have given up on democratic socialism, but some of us have not. If the only place in the UK where it has a future is in Scotland, then roll on independence!

  5. A primary mistake is to think that the rich actually think about the poor, even in passing. It’s been the same through history. The remedy has been the same through history too.

    • The rich won’t worry if the poor spend a few days rioting as long as they don’t riot where the rich live. I’m sure the police wouldn’t just stand back and do nothing if the rich were at risk. At least we have the SNP who can at least get some media coverage and stress how cruel austerity is. Labour are continuing to show how close they are to the Tories. The future is workfare as soon as you become unemployed.

      • That would be the SNP who announced they will join with the Westminster Tories for the EU campaign? The same who have used their first few days in Parliament to target Dennis Skinner’s traditional seat on the benches, like a bunch of sniggering school kids? I’m not waiting for them to come to my aid.

        • First days in Parliament for the SNP – forgive me if I applause Mr Void’s well written article here and not bbrraayy. Do people on a plane bray when a Pilot lands on foreign shores – no – they give the Pilot a well deserved round of applause. Another thing – the HOC has been empty over the the first week of opening apart from the SNP MP’s – but then again forgive me – they were debating Trident!

          • “applaud” Mr Void’s article – sorry – typo.

          • Bollocks to the SNP and their Trident shit. Notice how these middle-class anti-nuclear types are always pro-conventional warfare as in Campaign for nuclear Disarmament. These fuckers fear a nuclear conflict because they are scared of the less discriminate nature of nuclear weapons and fear that they themselves might be taken out in a nuclear conflict but are OK and can see nothing wrong with sending the working classes off to fight in the trenches.

            • 🙂

            • It is now 2015 not 1914 and I would like to see Trident off of our shores for good. People are entitled to their own opinion of the SNP however, if they can put a spanner in the workings of the Tory Party then I will vote for them all the way.

              • Dr Who - Time Lord

In many ways the clock is being turned back all the time though. As far as living standards go for many people it probably feels like 1914.

              • Better money going into Trident than supporting conventional warfare – the ‘arms industry’ are going to get their money regardless. Only a complete mad-man would start a nuclear war, although Jimmy Carter did suggest a ‘limited nuclear war’ with a pre-determined amount of warheads being fired on each side; others have suggested using smaller warheads. If you to think what would have happened if nuclear weapons hadn’t been invented; no doubt we would still be going to war with Germany on a regular basis to boost the economy – it used to be boom > bust > war > boom. Nowadays it is boom > bust > ‘quantitative easing’. If you look around the world all the conflicts going on at present are of a ‘conventional’ nature, and Lithuania has recently re-introduced conscription. A nuclear war is an horrific thought, but will in all probability never happen, but if there presence prevents the horror of ‘conventional’ warfare their presence has to be at least tolerate if not welcomed. Anyway, Trident and the ‘nuclear deterrent’ deterrent isn’t going anywhere; the SNP are on their own on this one, both the Tories and Labour support Trident – it was one of Ed’s ‘red-lines’ – he might have even had it cast in stone.

        • The SNP are in a strange place politically doubt they can continue the juggling of the Scots between the left and right at some point they will have to become a capital-N nationalist party or end up as redundant as the LibLabCon.

        • Yeah, what’s it with Denis Skinner having to stand. He looks positively in pain leaning against the wall at times as the Fat Fascist Alex Salmond spreads his fat arse over two Commons seats. What is that all about?

  6. Well said Johnny. May it start sooner, rather than later.

  7. so what defines rich in the eyes of jonny void? would it be some one who has a job and is paying their own rent and getting a wage that pays more than JSA? if so i hope i dont get a job as the angry mob will be coming for me for wanting to get off benefits /s

    • A person can be rich in love – rich in friendship – rich in cash – it is up to you how you value your own measure in life’s riches – however, if you are waiting on the Tory Government providing you with even a chance – you are very much mistaken. Good luck with your job search – I am sure every commentator on this site wishes you well!

    • the people who have shit and use that shit to make money out of the people who don’t have shit. landlords, business owners, bankers, scum like that.

    • Tories have never understood the poor for 1000 years.

Benefit is paid to poor pensioners and the working poor, who are the bulk of those going to foodbanks.

Your well paid, full time permanent job pays.

The low waged are on stagnated wages a decade into the past and cannot live on that wage.

This is against capitalism, as the millions who have lost your kind of good jobs, only to be replaced by the majority that are now too low waged to spend widely as a consumer.

The Tories are feudal and cannot comprehend capitalism, just like so many Tory commentators to blogs.

Never in the world, throughout history, has leaving the poor to starve ever ended well.

It is the very rich who need to kick the Tory backside, because it is not the politicians who will suffer, but those who will take the wealth off the rich if they win.

My enemy is that the rich man but our feudal political class, an enemy to rich and poor alike in the end.

  8. It seems that Johnny Void is doing Cameron’s work – blaming UKIP’s MP for all the evils in the country. Oh yes, and pulling the fascist card – a bit tiresome isn’t it. Carswell is not a fascist, he is a Thatcherite, a libertarian Tory, a populist Tory, of the kind who voted for Thatcher over Kinnock and the Labour traitors to the class. But don’t think about politics, just yell fascist and please tell Tarquin and Jacinda to shout fascist too. Tell you who the fascists are – the so called left who either deliberately or stupidly try to lead the class into battle without identifying the enemy. So Johnny Void, censor this like a good little leftie authoritarian. Or take the class war seriously and get up to the mark.

  9. Peter the Pedant

  17. This fetishoseing of the super rich is becomeing more and more grotesque ,fawning ,begging ,groveling, like the are gods the revolting channel 4 had on a program last night about jaguar car for the worlds super rich at one mill a pop …oooh puke it was the most fawning ,ares licking, toady program ever after 20 mins enough already…yet at the same time thease wanker production companys ..you know just like…love…productions fetishise …..poverty porn ..programs like benefits street…demoniseing editing to make the people to look as foolish as posible ..so jv you are right Douglas carswell has got the society he wants ..I watched him on youtube ..wot a fucking baby a little cry baby pussy.when the mob comes for them this is wot you will see ,the tide is turning ….incidents of the arrogant rich getting slapped about are starting to becr quite popular rap hear in west London I resently watched a…..young profetional couple get slapped up by the local youth for showing direspect……good…..good

    • These ‘super-cars’ aren’t all they are cracked up to be. I had the (mis)fortune of driving a Lamborghini and it was the most uncomfortable ride I have ever had – the seats were like those plastic bucket seats you sit on in primary school not to mention the almost recumbent driving position. Of course there was a bit more power ‘under the hood’ which was completely incongruous with driving on UK roads – OK on a race-track I suppose. As Benjamin Barber commented: “cars are only skins”, they can look good on the outside but be unpleasant to drive – just because you fork out a cool £million for a motor doesn’t guarantee a pleasant drive. There is only so far you can go with cars as regards specs and comfort and the controls are all basically the same, once you have driven one you have driven them all.

  19. This is a rich man saying the truth.

Our political class is stuck a thousand years into the past, and France before the revolution.

No free and open society can last against ever growing glaring inequality.

The rich have an enemy in our political class.

Our political class being feudal is not even capitalist.

Is it not odd to listen to capitalist business saying the truth, that ever growing poverty stops capitalism.

We see this in Greece, with the EU doing the same as the Tories in England.

Our political class are spending hundreds of billions in benefit admin just to increase the starving in or out of work, of all ages.

So denying those self same people to have money in their hands to go to shops, buy stuff.

A few rich cannot buy a thousand fold consumers as us 99 per cent.

So our high street shops die.

If all the benefit admin shut down tomorrow and we had a citizen income and citizen state pension replaced it, then our economy would thrive and starvation would end.

This rich man says that worker have more money, businesses have more business and so they can hire more workers.

In the UK, 75 per cent of all tax comes from stealth indirect taxes and VAT, so all adults are 100 per cent taxpayers.

So with less money for the poor, the less tax the government gets, the less business is gained.

The few highly paid managers cannot consume as much as many many millions of better paid people.

Capitalism is buy and sell between the mass of the people.

This was the trade of the ancients.

Nonesense if the poor get richer the economy will collapse. The big Tory lie, that Labour swallowed.

  21. Reblogged this on SMILING CARCASS'S TWO-PENNETH and commented:

What these people do not seem to realise is something I have said for decades.

A happy workforce is a productive workforce. Give us decent wagers and conditions and the majority will be satisfied if they can pay their bills, save a little and enjoy a little. Trying to hold down wages to increase personal pelf and using the whip hand of job insecurity to ensure productivity results in an unhappy workforce that doesn’t give a damn about the quantity or the quality of the goods and services they produce.

This can be extended to the population in general. Give us decent wages and conditions, a welfare state that supports those that need it and that allows them some dignity, a decent education system for our children and most of us won’t care how rich you are.

But when an employer tries to crush the last drop from his employees for subsistence wages, when a government tries to enrich not only the bankers, industrialist and the idle rich but themselves too, all at the expense of the poor, they produce me and millions like me.

Militant trade’s unionists and socialists who want their massive wealth redistributed much further than allowing us a decent life would cost them.

    Who would have guessed it?
Lets see – reduce the number of tax collectors targetting the fat earners with their snouts in the trough.
    Result – less tax collected.
Bigger result – lets blame the poor – they’re not working hard enough for us!

  23. The Irish Rover

There is a debate on BBC Parliament at the moment discussing on whether Stormont will accept IDS’s Welfare Reform Bill or wait for IDS to do it for them. They openly acknowledge that Northern Ireland has a “more generous welfare system than the rest of the UK with our citizens receiving thousands… billions more than anywhere else in the UK”. Why is this? Does Northern Ireland even have sanctions?*

    * The treat of a quick bullet to the head would be enough to deter any “work roach”😉

    • The Irish Rose

“The DLA claimant rate in Northern Ireland is three times that of the rest of the UK, what if it get to four times that?, 5 times that?” WTF!

    • Don’t let him near your welfare regulations – 188 euros a week job seekers allowance – approximately £135.00 per week. Come over here and see the queues of people outside Food Banks. It is a national disgrace.

      • George Osborne MP - Chancellor of the Exchequer

And how do you propose that we fix our broken economy, Donna, especially after the mess we inherited from the last Labour government – the party who still won’t accept responsibly for crashing the economy.

        • Stop paying second rate Agencies for the work you pay the DWP for – pay the benefit claimant’s what they are due and then they can spend and boost the economy. Even the HMRC have a second rate Agency checking up on single mum’s child tax credits – what do you pay the HMRC for? The economy has crashed because of the Bankers and all those companies who don’t pay tax – why not send an Agency after them – so far your Government seems unable to catch up with them.

    • Send George ID Smith in person to Ireland and let him give his unemployment/disability speeches – with any luck that might be the last we see of him – oooh DC hope I did not give you any ideas.

…………………..is there any wonder that old etonian Cameron is trying to curry favour with the other heads of Europe?
Soon the cat will be out of the bag on the UK’s policies of mass extermination of it’s weakest citizens, thanks to the blessing of the bag in Buckingham palace.

To the world, Britain once stood out as the nation of pride and civility and honesty, but not anymore. We now have a Canadian that is so embittered by the DWP etnic cleansing, that he reports them to the EU Commission of human rights on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, the arch villain behind the deaths of thousands of innocent impoverished poor and disabled people, mounts a last ditch attempt to hide his attrocities from the eyes of the world.

The actions of one man, IAIN DUNCAN SMITH, blur the activities of all the worlds serial killers into near oblivion, the Nazi’s an inspiration to this deluded psychopath’s trail of death……………

Even the Freedom of Information tsar has seen fit to no longer protect the criminal in our midst, but will the “in house bent judiciary”, come to his rescue?

Like him or loathe him, his kills have not got a voice, but collectively we can bring his reign of absolute terror, to an end.

If i murdered one person i would be incarcerated immediately, so why is this killer still at large?

Smith must be made to pay for his actions against the weakest, those less able to fight back, personally, and i am not alone, i worship the ground that is coming to him.

This fetid piece of crap will help bring this twisted government to it’s knees, and the sooner, the better……………

  40. Found this on Google – Northern Ireland Jobseeker Allowance rates

    Unemployment Benefits in Ireland
Rates of Unemployment Benefits in Ireland. 2015

There are two types of welfare payments for unemployed people in Ireland.

    Jobseekers Benefit :

Maximum Weekly Rate : €188 Plus €124.80 for a dependent adult. Plus €29.80 a week for a child.
    For example: : A couple with 2 children would get a maximum of €372.40 a week ( €19,364 a year)

Jobseeker’s Benefit is a weekly payment from the Department of Social Protection (DSP) to people who are out of work and covered by social insurance (PRSI). In other words – you must have been previously in a job and have paid a certain number of PSRI contributions. Full Rules Here

    Jobseekers Allowance : JSA
Jobseekers Allowance is payable to claimants who have not paid enough PSRI contributions (or any). The top rates of payment are very similar to Jobseekers Benefit – but under 25′s get a lower rate.
Maximum Weekly Rate : €188 Plus €124.80 for a dependent adult. Plus €29.80 a week for a child.

Claimants aged 22,23 or 24 get €144 a week Jobseekers Allowance.

Claimants aged between 18 and 21 – without children get a reduced rate of JSA of €100 a week with €100 for a dependent adult.

The main difference between Jobseekers Benefit and Jobseekers Allowance – is that:
Jobseekers Benefit is not means tested
The income of your partner is not taken into account for Jobseekers Benefit.
Jobseekers Benefit is only paid for 12 months.

Jobseekers Allowance is subject to a means test – . A means test is when your income is calculated to find out if it falls below a certain level. If it falls below a certain level you can get Jobseeker’s Allowance. The income of your partner will be taken into consideration too.

See here about getting your Jobseekers Allowance paid while you are abroad and looking for work.

Some information here about Mortgage Interest Supplement – get help paying your mortgage if you are unemployed

Unbelievable………how come we have people who are starving to death because of sanctions and the unemployment benefit paid here in Scotland, England is a pittance. Please note that claimants between 18 and 21 without children get a REDUCED RATE of £100 per week and yet our young kids are to get nothing – sent on workfare for the benefit of who?

  41. The politicians hated the expenses scandal which demonstrated what we already knew. They are a bunch of greedy mendacious rats who want more more more and demonize the poor unemployed and sick. The pitchforks will come out surprised it has not happened already. I wonder what Smith, Cameron, and the rest of them would do if they were in poverty and demonized?

  42. I watched all three of the Labour leadership candidates on Channel 4 News last night and what a dispiriting sight it was. Charmless, robotic Kendall, desperately ambitious Cooper and spineless Burnham. All three delivering the same message. What is the point of the Labour party?

to provide the illusion of an opposition, democracy, and offer a conscience shame sink for so called champagne socialism, to ok greed…gordon brown being a ‘red clydesider’ and all, as jimmy reid famously said ‘i didn’t leave the labour party, they left me’….

      • overburdenddonkey,

Jimmy Reid was no working class hero, dodgy politics to denounce the bevvying of the Scots working class.

        • overburdenddonkey

he was trying to play it by the book to give heath no ammunition…of course he was fucking struggling to get it right, and work it out against the incredible odds he faced when trying to win against such a corrupt system, what was he supposed to do to combat this….?!

          • overburdenddonkey

ps and the MSM…no social media then…

            • Scotland can do without the Stalinist myth building that elevates the political cadavers of Donald Dewar, Jimmy Reid or Margo MacDonald above their station.

that’s very harsh….🙂 how about campaigning against; WCA, sanctions and conditionality, soaring rents, benefit caps on rents and a substantial increase in all benefits….and more homes…imv end the states power to indoctrinate one, and oppression and tyranny fades away… http://www.coe.int/t/dghl/monitoring/socialcharter/Conclusions/State/UKXX2_en.pdf see article 12 re uk benefits ‘manifestly inadequate’….what we need is reliable supplies of vitality giving vitals of life for all….
mcdonalds worker in denmark gets over £13/hr, yes high taxes but massive social benefits for all, and still higher spending power/person than in the uk….no one rich, no one poor…. http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2014/05/15/fight-for-15-try-21/ ie jsa in southern ireland for 25yrs old + is €188/wk eqiv of £134/wk… and cost of living is apparently approx 8% cheaper than in the uk…and this is after cuts in the rates due to austerity…

    • No more thousand year tyrants, only thirty year utopian careerism.

      • MPs should be allowed only one term max – then they should be told to FUCK OFF!! on no uncertain terms. All this “representing the people of Utopia for the past 30 years” is a piece of nonsense.

  44. Love austerity ? Want to snuggle up to the financial sector ? If you support these things but don’t have the stomach to become a full blown Tory – then you’ll love the new look, Tory-Lite Labour Party.

Our new leader, who’ll take forward to meet new challenges, will probably be Andy Bluenose, Blair Wanna-be, Burnham – he’s an Evertonian y’know !

  47. Decades from now, history books will record these years of Neo-Liberalism as the dumbest period in human history. They will tell of a system that created vast wealth for a handful of people whilst leaving millions struggling to survive, a system designed to transfer wealth from the poor to the rich, a system that promoted a Malthusian hatred of the poor and a complete indifference to the plight of others whilst extolling the virtues of greed and ignorance.
The last 10 years spanned the worst financial crisis in history, a crisis caused by the sheer greed and criminal behaviour of the richest people on the planet aided by the very deregulation and free market ideology that the right wing so craves, and was only solved by using billions of taxpayers money.
But who has paid the price? In 2004, you needed £700 million to be in Britain’s 50 wealthiest people. 10 years later, that figure is now £1.7 billion. In 2004, the richest 1,000 people owned assets worth £200 billion, today they are worth £519 billion. The 5 richest families now own more wealth than the bottom 20% combined. The average salary for a FTSE 100 CEO is now £84,000 A WEEK.
Meanwhile, for the rest of us? 20% of the population, 13 million people, are now classed as living in poverty, of which over 8 million come from families who are IN WORK. In 2004, the median weekly wage was £462. Today, it is £427 a week. The cost of living has risen by 34% since 2004, meaning that the average disposable income per household is now almost £1,200 a year lower.
In addition, 913,138 people used food-banks in 2013/14, compared to 346,992 in 2012/13 and 26,000 in 2008/09. There has been a 74% increase in the number of malnutrition-related hospital admissions since 2009, whilst cases of rickets have risen by 25% in 4 years. Public health experts have warned that the rise of malnutrition in the UK “has all the signs of a public health emergency.”
And this is happening right now, IN ONE OF THE RICHEST COUNTRY ON EARTH.
The ruling elite already own all our land, gas, electricity, railways, water and media. They are now coming for our pensions, our NHS, our roads, our schools and our green spaces. They have systematically destroyed the unions, dismantled our protections, created mass unemployment and are dismembering the welfare state. They make it easier to sack us, make us work longer hours for less pay, force our kids to work for nothing, raise the retirement age whilst cutting our pensions and weaken our health and safety laws. Yet executives of blue-chip companies enjoyed a median pay rise of 32% in the last year alone.
    We are being shafted.
So, It’s time to get angry, and we need someone to express that anger, because none of our politicians are going to do it. Someone to speak for the millions of hard working people who only want a decent life for themselves and for their kids to have a secure future. Someone that speaks up for all of us, not just a privileged few. Someone that tells us that our worth is not measured by our wealth, but our value as human beings. Someone that tells us that compassion and empathy are not bullshit. Someone that tells us that ordinary people can expect to have a decent job, a decent house and decent healthcare. Someone that tells us our elderly can live out their final years in a degree of comfort. Someone that tells us our sick and disabled should be allowed to exist with a shred of dignity. Someone that tells us that the most disadvantaged will not be looked down upon as scum.
Someone that tells us that our kids can still have hopes and dreams.
To paraphrase Lloyd George whilst talking about the Great War: “If the people really knew the truth about what was happening, it would be ended tomorrow, but they must never know.”

Well, it is time we did know, and time we all stood up and said, enough is enough. The pitchforks will come out.

    • Excellent and eloquently put. One of the best posts i’ve ever read on ‘The Void’. Sums up how most of us feel. We are being used and conned, that’s for sure.

      • Another Fine Mess

The difficult bit is convicing ‘the others’. Rather than reading complicated paragraphs it’s easier for them to just believe nonsense like, ‘We’re creating more jobs than the rest of Europe put together’ ooh, let’s vote selfservative then. All while they’re busy working 50 hours a week just to pay their lecy bill.

well spotted…plagiarist is among us, but it’s still true…one sad thing i don’t think history will be telling that story…why coz being led always puts us back to sq one…..

    • Johannes, Did Malthusian theories really ‘promote’ …a ‘ hatred of the poor and a complete indifference to the plight of others whilst extolling the virtues of greed and ignorance’? Malthus theories were first and foremost, concerned with population levels i.e how are we to feed people. I agree, that his theories went beyond human kindness in terms of his suggestions, that, infertile land, poor natural resources and high infertility levels create/contribute to shortages in food, starvation, ill-health and wars. Malthus was concerned about poverty and starvation. His only ‘crime’ was to suggest postponing marriage and not having so many children. A simple concept.

      • Hi Bernadette good point the post is not actually mine I just agree with most of it.

        • Johannes, Thanks for the reply. Of topic, did you know ( I am sure that you do) that Malthus proposed Darwin’s theory prior to Darwin’s work ?
Malthus was a religious man who held so many views, and to this day, is still widely misunderstood, alas.

  48. I don’t pretend that I understood a lot of espr.org.uk – however, Stalin did well for HIMSELF – he had web toes and a withered arm – pock marked face. He attacked the poor people (his parents were not rich – supposed father was a shoemaker) – his school friends called him Poxy – he reminds me of someone we like to hate – Georgy Porgy. Stalin was obviously 100% more intelligent that our parasite George thank goodness.

Well said! It’s a shame Douglas Carswell didn’t get a black eye at the very least. Why was he travelling by bus? I think it was probably a ploy to try and convince people that he’s just ordinary. As their only MP, UKIP could provide him with a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce!

    • Another Fine Mess

No, he shouldn’t have got a black eye, nor anyone else. But someone with time on their hands should check his expenses to see if he gets busses regularly, or if it was just a one-off on that particular day.
