Maximus Marketing Boss Called The NUS Student Wankers And Described A Guardian Contributor As Cretinous

mario-dunn-tweet1Believe it or not the above tweet referring to the NUS as student wankers was posted by Mario Dunn, the Communications & Marketing Director for Maximus – the company taking over from Atos to carry out the despised assessments for sickness and disability benefits.

Dunn is a former special advisor to the Labour Party who worked at the Department of Health between 2005-2010.  Now he is responsible for “all aspects of communications, stakeholder engagement, marketing and brand management” for Maximus but still has the time to have tantrums on twitter – usually in defence of the crimes of the Israeli government.  He is also passionate in his support of Tony Blair, calling a piece which mildy criticised the former Prime Minister ‘cretinous’.  His choice of language perhaps reveals the truth about attitudes towards disabled people at Maximus.

Dunn will be working with Bill Gunnyeon the former DWP chief medical adviser who it was revealed this week will also now be working for Maximus.  He will join former Atos medical director Professor Michael O’Donnell who joined Maximus last year and who previously worked for UNUM, the insurance company who boasted about ‘driving government thinking’ on reforms to sickness and disability benefits.

Maximus have claimed they will be different to Atos.  So far they look exactly the fucking same.

Do I need the consent of the individual to carry out an occupational health
      assessment?
Yes – this has not changed. The individual sh
      ould be informed about
      the purpose and nature
of the assessment and give their informed cons
ent to the process and the preparation of any
      report.

Does consent for an occupational health assessment have to be in writing?
It is good practice to obtain written consent wh
ere this is practicable. In some circumstances
(e.g. telephone consultations) this is likely to be impractical and recording verbal consent in
      the OH record will suffice.

    • “AMBULANCE DEATHS COVER UP”

Once again we are we are witnessing a cover up of deaths, first it was the DWP, now it appears that the same is happening in the ambulance service.

Dozens have died due to managers making a decision without consultation, which is an absolute cover up for someone who gave the instruction to downgrade call out times………….

It’s always the same, “a DWP spokesman said”, there is never one figure mentioned to avert blame…………….

The instruction to downgrade the callout times probably came from shark eyed HUNT, one of the most depicable bastards on the planet today. But will we ever know, UK society is now ankle deep in a shitstorm of epic proportions that favours telling corporate lies…………

  2. I spoke to Mario the other day. I asked him if Maximus was a “Two Ticks” employer. He didnt know. Neither did the Human Resource dept at their Disability and Health head quarters. Obviously they said they would find out and get back to me. Equally obviously they haven’t.

    • I take your point, but having been hounded out of a two-ticks blue-chip company for becoming disabled, I hold all that IIP and 2ticks crap in utter contempt. Smoke & mirrors don’t actually change any companies’ underlying culture, but often used to support HR directors getting gongs for “services” to industry.

      • Well that nicely diluted my point… if they cant answer a simple question on if they are *cough* “Disability positive” then I cant imagine that Sue will achieve anything.

        • Agreed. But I still hold to the point that these “accreditation’s” are fig-leaves for all & sundry, and there are very few & far between really “disability positive” companies out there. I think we all know the track record of Maximus, so the fact no-one was able to answer your question just supports the bigger picture. Nor would I be surprised if Maximus and Atos were both 2tick accredited.

As for Sue……….who? Do…..what? They’re all there to make a profit from following IDS’s agenda, leeching public money and causing distress and harm by withholding benefits, and that is the job. Nothing else will happen. ( I don’t count being a glove puppet for disability denial poverty-pimps who will continue the are real job, BTW.)

          • Yep, very few genuinely dis positive companies, very well said.

Precisely. How can they differ? Neither of them should even exist in such a capacity. No private profit-making company has any business being involved in any aspect of Social Security whatsoever. Fuck off Maximus.

    • ….WELL SAID LP

    • “How can they differ?”

Well they gave me a job for a start. I’ll be earning: £75,000 per annum, which works out, after tax, at: £4,220 per month, £974 per week and £195 per day!!! Not bad eh?

It’s a lot more than any of you lot will be taking home, that’s for sure.

      Adios amigos!

    • They use the same ATOS miracle cure LIMA software so unless they get rid of that they are just the same.

  6. The ex-head medic at DWP, one Mansel Aylward, was in post when Unum came to talk to Peter Lilley (in Mjor’s government). He is now the head of a “disability research” facility at Cardiff Uni – funded by…..Unum.

Aylward’s successor, Dr.Bill Gunnyeon, has left DWP and now works for Maximus. He is the brains behind the “fit note” (Form Med3 Rev) and the new Health and Work Service – in which people are called at home and quizzed on their fitness for work on behalf of their employers.
The contract for this has gone to Health Management Limited, a subsidiary of Maximus in the UK.

Prof.Mike O’Donnell used to work for Unum, then went to Atos (both of which he tried to hide by amending his LinkedIn profile) and now works for Health Management Limited, see above.

Atos are still involved and have a nice new £10 Million contract to supply IT services to Maximus; Atos continues to own or lease the Unum-designed LIMA software on which the WCA is based.

The same people who started this whole system of disability denial dressed up as reform in the UK are still involved – with a few odd bods who were SPADs or ex-disability campaigners or whatever.

It is corrupt, in my opinion.

    ——————————————————————————

    By the way, Johnny –

I asked Sue Marsh today if she still had any of the personal and medical information gathered from members of the public when she was asking for testimony for the Spartacus research – she stated that all that information was passed on to the researchers and she said she “100%” did not still have that information.

I am mentioning this because of your concerns that some of that information may now be accessible to Maximus via their new employee.

I am not convinced that it matters anyway, to be frank – Maximus has the power and influence to access records anyway.

Once again, thanks for all you do, Johnny

    • I think the concerns are more likely to be concerning any soft information she gives them, particularly as it looks like there’s going to be a lot of activity going on around Maximus. Putting names to faces at protests, who’s ‘radical’, which groups might take direct action, that type of thing. Would she do this, who knows, 75 grand is a lot of money to give up and I suspect she would, and at some point Maximus will expect it.

      • Hi Johnny.

You make a very good point, and I confess that’s not something I thought about – “soft” information.

Hey ho. She’s gone, and won’t be back – I don’t think she has a future in the disability movement if it all goes Pete Tong with Maximus.

        Thanks.

  7. Well, if everyone on the employment role at Maximus is recruited in the same way as Ms Marsh – no references, no application form, no up to date work record – long gap in employment due to long term sickness – no qualifications – then it is no wonder that GENUINE sick people are not qualifying for sickness benefit when it is left up to Maximus employees probably of the same calibre as previously mentioned to assess their capabilities in respect of work – is anyone qualified on their staff?

    • When I rang Mario said it was all “probably” temps… which is why the poor girl on reception didnt know what “Human Resources” were. Sadly the “Temp” who was in HR didnt know what the 2 ticks scheme was. This is the standard of their already established Disability and Health Centre.
So having no relevant qualifications or experience seems to be a pre-requisite for any job at Maximus.

  8. ‘claimants’ (instead of their) capabilities in respect of work – got carried away there – sorry.

  10. …………….It would seem that where deaths are concerned, the DWP know nothing…………………..how cute

    1) When you are taken to task about these abuses in human rights will the sick &
disabled get reparation for their maltreatment by your disability denial factory ATOS?

The Department does not hold the requested information.

    2) When someone dies after being found “fit” for work will you compensate the
spouse/partner & children of the bereaved?

We hold no information of DWP being required to pay compensation to a spouse, partner or
child of an individual who ‘dies after being found fit for work’.

    3) will you compensate the disabled for losses accrued whilst appealing?

Information about payment of ESA whilst appealing is already in the public domain and is
therefore exempt under section 21 of the FoI Act, however we can confirm that the ESA
assessment rate remains in payment whilst a claimant is awaiting an appeal and if a Tribunal
finds in the claimants favour we would pay the balance of benefit due back to the thirteenth
week of the claim. Further information can be found here:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/appeals-procedures-staff-guide-decisions-made-
    before-28-october-2013

    4) how many people have appealed since they get nothing to live off (I refer to clause
99)when they are found “fit” for work?

The Department does not hold information on people who have ‘nothing to live off’ and
therefore does not hold the requested information.

    5) When are you going to have proper WCAs? With proper medical evidence? Off
    proper medical personal?

The Department does not hold the requested information. I can confirm that ‘proper WCAs’
with ‘proper medical evidence’ conducted by ‘proper Health Care Professionals’ have been
    taking place since October 2008.

    6) How many appeals are you expecting when your disability denial factory (ATOS and
their ilk) perform the “medicals” for PIP?

As we do not have a ‘disability denial factory’ we hold no information to answer this request.

    7) how much does each appeal cost?

The Department does not record the costs of individual appeals however figures from HM
Courts and Tribunals Service state the average cost of a Social Security and Child Support
Tribunal appeal is £248 (1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013). The DWP will also incur a cost but
we do not hold this information.

THE CENTRE THEN SUBMITTED A THESIS THAT HAD NO VALIDATION WHATSOEVER TO PARLIAMENT. IT WAS CALLED THE BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL MODEL OF DISABILITY.

THE BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL MODEL OF DISABILITY IS FAVOURED BY THE FACULTY FOR OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE BECAUSE IT IS THEY WHO PROFIT FROM ITS EXISTENCE.

THE FACULTY AWARDS DIPLOMAS TO THEIR MEMBERSHIP AND ALSO PRODUCE THE DIPLOMA IN DISABILITY ASSESSMENT MEDICINE, DDAM.

DDAM DIPLOMAS ARE REQUIRED BY HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK FOR THE LIKES OF ATOS, WHO ROUTINELY DENY DISABILITY USING THE “BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL MODEL” THAT IS USED BY MAJOR AMERICAN INSURERS TO DENY DISABILITY PAYMENTS.

EVERY COMMITTEE WHO HAS EVER BEEN INVOLVED IN BACK TO WORK SCHEMES AND DISABILITY ASSESSMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE UK GOVERNMENT HAS ALWAYS HAD IT’S SHARE OF THE FACULTY MEMBERS ON IT’S PANEL.

MATTHEW OAKLEY WAS CHOSEN BECAUSE OF HIS LINKS TO A GOVERNMENT THINK TANK.

THE WHOLE FIASCO OF DISABILITY DENIAL IS A CONCOCTION OF CORRUPT PRACTICES WITH THE PRIVATE HEALTH INDUSTRY PULLING THE STRINGS, MORE OBVIOUS WITH THE PRESENCE OF MICHAEL O’DONNEL WHO WAS CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER AT UNUM, ATOS AND MAXIMUS.

THE TENTACLES OF CORORATE GREED ARE NEVER SO OBVIOUS AS AT THE PRESENT.

WE ARE RUN BY A BUNCH OF CROOKS, WILLING TO KILL, USING UNVERIFIED PSYCHOSOCIAL CLAPTRAP THAT HAS LED TO OBVIOUS SUICIDES THAT THE DWP ARE TRYING DESPERATELY TO HIDE FROM THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS.

    Et tu, Johnny?

That’s pretty weak, and the reason the Left is so moribund. First off, even my enemies have a right to personal opinions, and secondly, his aren’t nearly so bad as you make out. He was referring to a student body who notoriously were too PC to condemn Islamic State. Pretty fuckwitted if you ask me.

Secondly his tweets which you lambast as “Pro-Israel” are shots of French Jewish kids being herded into school by troops in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo / Kosher supermarket massacre and exceprts from a Hamas production in which a Jewish guy is murdered. Hardly militaristic breast beating in defence of the crimes of the Israeli government, or do you also not distinguish between the Israeli government and Jewish children?

The Tony Blair thing is, well I disagree with him but you know what? It’s a democracy. He’s entitled to his opinion. It’s his work that bothers me, not his opinions about Tony sodding Bair.

I really thought you were one of the good guys, Johnny. Such a shame you had to join in with the Jew-bashing, terrorist hugging, wankpots of the SWP. Hope you recover your sanity soon.

  18. You’re wrong on this one Johnny. You see, the halcyon days of the welfare state were under the governership of The Lord Blair and His New Labour Party. Never had we had it so good as during those gloriously benevolent Blair Years.

    • Never forget this happened during New Labours time in office:-
      http://www.midmoors.co.uk/Unum/unum_in_uk.pdf
In November 2001 a conference assembled at Woodstock, near Oxford. Its
subject was ‘Malingering and Illness Deception’. The topic was a familiar one
to the insurance industry, but it was now becoming a major political issue as
New Labour committed itself to reducing the 2.6 million who were claiming
Incapacity Benefit (IB). Amongst the 39 participants was Malcolm Wicks, then
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Work, and Mansel Aylward, his Chief
Medical Officer at the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). Fraud – which
amounts to less than 0.4 per cent of IB claims – was not the issue. The experts
and academics present were the theorists and ideologues of welfare to work.
What linked many of them together, including Aylward, was their association
with the giant US income protection company UnumProvident, represented at
the conference by John LoCascio. The goal was the transformation of the welfare
system. The cultural meaning of illness would be redefined; growing numbers of
claimants would be declared capable of work and ‘motivated’ into jobs. A new
      39
New Labour, the market state, and the end of welfare
work ethic would transform IB recipients into entrepreneurs helping themselves
out of poverty and into self-reliance. Five years later these goals would take a
tangible form in New Labour’s 2006 Welfare Reform Bill.

    • dirt under their feet

Blair and New Labour may have been more generous about benefits at the beginning, particularly for pensioners (those most likely to vote); but from that beginning they were looking more towards what was for the benefit of the wealthy and Big Business.

Until under that Labour government, in October 2008, Atos Healthcare commenced overseeing the WCA, using the LIMA software. Obviously this had been planned for some time previously (as explored above). While Freud said he put it all together in three weeks, there were extensive background influences before his supposed ‘eureka’ moment. In fact his only statement anywhere near the truth was saying he didn’t know anything about the working of the benefits system.

Immediately a process was started where IB claimants were called in for reassessment and many, the majority, were immediately found fit for work. Also most new claimants were found fit. One centre was nicknamed Lourdes, because everyone was given no points, and so officially cured of all afflictions.

If you were looking at the plans that had been evolving for those on IB by the Conservatives and Labour preceding that time, they were just about the same. Those included ‘work experience’, laying the foundations for workfare, as was the plan all along, by Labour – the selling of the poor for cheap labour.

After these policies began under the Labour government, many people then received letters telling them they were now fit and that they would cease to have an income, with a date for the week before. There was no prior warning, and it was very frightening for them.

They were instructed that in order to continue to have an income they should go to the Job Centre and sign on. This was the stick to persuade them they could go back to work, whatever. However, the Job Centre does not take people who are too unwell to meet their job-seeking obligations, and many could not in reality sign on.

The assessment reports submitted by Atos, a generally very favoured corporation of the Labour government, were found usually to be wildly inaccurate. Many appealed and many succeeded, rightfully, in getting back their IB. Only to be called in soon afterwards and again to be found fit, and to have to got through all of the stress of an appeal again. Of course this cruel cat-and-mouse game, created by Labour policy, made only many of them more unwell, and some died earlier because of it.

But the cynical part of these processes was the DWP knowing that at every stage there would be a certain percentage who would give up, from despair or not knowing enough how to combat this, and they could knock them off of benefit.

The DWP under the Labour government did not concern themselves with what happened to the growing numbers disappearing from the system. When Yvette Cooper took over from James ‘workhouse’ Purnell, when it had become apparent that there were serious concerns about the WCA, her response was to tighten the descriptors, so that it was even more difficult to get through the WCA successfully.

Therefore, after the Labour party had effectively turned its back on the workers and the poor of our society, the Conservatives only needed to continue building on what had been carefully planned, by both parties, for some years previously. In collaboration with privateering U.S. health interests.

The small detail that those plans had been made through a period of increasingly full employment, and by the time they were being implimented, there was an economic crash, so that soon even well motivated and healthy persons would be finding it increasingly difficult to find jobs, bothered not at all either Labour at the time, or the Conservatives thereafter. It was after all an opportunity for undermining employment rights.

Everyone could do a job if only they thought positively, and if not they should be punished for it; even when those jobs weren’t there, many genuinely couldn’t do them, and the job market didn’t want them. They could also do that job without a wage (when suddenly jobs were available), and it was the Labour government who initially pushed for the sanctions regime to enforce it.

(Nearly everyone can do something of course, but a formal job requires it to be done in a structured way at particular times, which is not possible with many types of illness.)

While there is a section of Labour backbenches who campaign on these issues, the present Labour leadership is very quiet about it (just about everything), and Rachel Reeves has not said anything to give confidence. However, what is certain is that were the Conservatives to continue in power after May, many more will not survive their plans for ‘deficit reductions’.

Its a shame beloved johnny Void is not running for PM. but alas hes not so who are we going to vote in to fuck up the country even more on election day?

  20. Cameron refusing to appear in televised debates unless the Monster Raving Loony Party are taking part as well.

  21. Has anyone contacted Maximus for a formal statement as to whether it is acceptable for one of their employees to make statements like Dunn has?

  22. “IF SANCTIONS ARE IMPOSED AS A LAST RESORT, HOW COME THE DWP HAVE EXAMINED 60 DEATHS?”

    From: Mr Harris

    11 January 2015

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

DWP people frequently say that sanctions are a “last resort” A few
    examples:

“Benefit sanctions are only used as a last resort and the
overwhelming majority of claimants do not receive a sanction”
    https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/j

“In a letter to the committee, McVey defended the sanctions
system. She wrote: “It is widely accepted that they play an
important role in the benefit system. They are effective in
encouraging compliance and we continue to manage the process so
they are only imposed as a last resort.””
    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politi

“However, sanctions are used as a last resort”
    http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014

Please send me the evidence relied on for these statements that
sanctions are used as a “last resort”

    Yours faithfully,

    Mr Harris

    • ………..The truth of the matter is obvious, the DWP do not give a toss about the lives they have taken, targets take preference over a claimants right to an existence.
When the truth comes out, as it inevitably will, a persons predicament is not even taken into consideration. Be you on the streets, limbless in a wheelchair, the PCS hit man has but one objective, to fiddle the condem statistics on unemployment rates.

One death is a tragedy, 60 known cases is corporate manslaughter, yet 10,600 in the last edited report on welfare reported deaths is “GENOCIDE”

  23. Oh its a funny old game. Little Mario is really so ingrained in Labour, and yet he is a foul little shit. Here is just a sample;
“All very Python/cardboard box like but don’t forget the public by and large support initiatives that reduce social security benefits. Five million people claim HB – count ’em five million. Some people live in multi-million pound properties in Central London for nothing! Absurd and plain wrong.

Rather than just have a knee jerk opposition to this it is far better for Labour to say what it would do to cut down on the welfare bill. And I don’t just mean macro economic policy stuff but ideas that the public will support.

Otherwise we are doomed to another period in opposition – doomed I tell ‘ye”
    followed by;
“I certainly hope that Labour’s manifesto is one that is supported by the public. It really does help if you want to win elections.”

So election win at any human cost…

Now you know who to blame for Sue’s defection – not IDS, but a Blairite blue in the face gamer.

  24. “Alan Johnson isn’t interested in a new job, but the former home secretary’s one-time special adviser Mario Dunn has popped up in a new role. Un-Super Mario is spinning for Maximus, the US firm now doing Atos’s old work of assessing the “fitness” of disabled benefit claimants. Nasty work if you can get it. ”
