DWP Admin And Salaries Costs Nearly Twice The Dole: Sack The Managers And Save Us All A Fortune

atos-black-triangleThe DWP spent almost twice as much on salaries, welfare-to-work schemes and administration last year than they did on unemployment benefit.

The department’s latest six monthly report shows that £7.7 billion was spent on administration costs in 2013/14 compared to £4.3 billion on Jobseeker’s Allowance, othwerwise known as the dole.  In the current year administration spending is expected to hit £8 billion, whilst spending on JSA is forecast to fall to £3.7 billion as hundreds of thousands of people are bullied off benefits with sanctions and workfare.

The DWP is a big department, and this colossal spend also includes administration of pensions, sickness, housing and disability benefit spending.  But with around 750 Jobcentres around the UK and 78,000 employees, (according to The Guardian in 2010) it seems likely the biggest bulk of this spending goes on paying the salaries of Jobcentre busybodies and their happy clappy over-paid managers.  On top of this over a billion goes to ‘Employment Programmes’ meaning money shovelled into the pockets of private welfare-to-work providers like A4e and G4S.

Increased conditionality for benefits means Jobcentre staff spend most of their time bullying and harassing claimants by forcing them to sign on everyday or pretend to spend hours using the dreadful Universal Jobmatch website.  And their managers are there to ruthlessly police the benefit sanction targets they pretend don’t exist by threatening any worker who isn’t being enough of a ruthless cold-hearted bastard that week with diciplinary action.

If this conditionality was stripped away and welfare-to-work profiteers sacked, then it seems likely most of George Osborne’s planned social security cuts could come from administration alone.  Or instead of blowing the budget on bullying, Jobcentres could go back to processing benefits claims and providing genuine and non-coercive help with finding work, training and education for those that want it. Or they could double the dole.

But don’t hold your breath, the benefit system is no longer there as a safety net to protect people in the event of sickness, unemployment or disability.  Instead it exists to dicipline the entire workforce, by turning unemployment into a living hell so that people accept the shit wages and working conditions that come with modern capitalism.  And that comes at a high price, not just to the Treasury, but to all those forced to use foodbanks this Christmas because they were sanctioned for being ten minutes late to a meeting with the Jobcentre.

Without your blog i am sure the suicide count of the DWP victims would rocket even more than it has done.
You provide a marvelous platform that not only educates but gives the chance to vent anger.

You will never be short of incredible stories that defy belief as long as this unelected mob are pulling the life strings………………..

  3. Well said my friend I have both worked in a job centre and am currently claiming JSA, both are a living hell. Successive governments have failed to tackle unemployment in a sensitive and common sense way. I feel sick at the thought of not having a job and signing on, but have applied for 100s jobs and had a few interviews. It’s no picnic for the £72 pocket money I get

  6. “It would be wrong to blame the company for recruiting from abroad: it needs workers and has advertised vacancies in Britain to no avail.
It would be wrong also to blame the immigrants who want to come here for better pay and conditions. The problem has arisen because the generosity of the welfare state has made people lazy.
The welfare state was supposed to be a safety net to help those in desperate need.
Nowadays it has become a way for people who do not want to work to maintain lavish lifestyles at taxpayers’ expense. For many benefits claimants this has created a sense of entitlement.
The Government must continue its benefit reforms to ensure that work always pays better than claiming handouts. Then we will see jobs such as those at Staples being taken by unemployed Britons instead of eastern Europeans.”

no lets not blame bosses for exploiting unemployed foreigners by paying shit wages, and not blame those exploited foreign workers’ is the fault of benefit scroungers “who do not want to work to maintain ***lavish lifestyles*** at taxpayers’ expense

well dont know about you but i dont know anyone having a lavish lifestyle unless he means corporations on govt payroll and and Mps expenses oh and bankers on whacking great bonuses..

***an adviser working for a private company***

. At these meetings you should be able to discuss the type of work you can manage or would like to get into, what barriers to getting into work there are for you, and how these could be overcome.”

where is rethink’s condemnation of the WP/dwp rule’s?
spot the difference between poverty enabler’s and http://edinburghagainstpoverty.org.uk/node/68
‘THE WORK PROGRAMME: AN ATTACK ON BOTH THE UNEMPLOYED AND WAGES OF THE EMPLOYED.’ the true helper condemn’s this and many other dwp bad practice’s whilst acknowledging it’s rules, offers the best solution’s that it is able to, and helps one fight the abuse…
please stop posting dwp conditionalities, that we are all very well aware of…the question/solution/answer is how do we fight them, not how we must comply or lose benefit’s….
we should have a massive increase in unconditional basic living allowance…
      see basic citizen’s income….

      • @Donkey indeed , if they are meant to be supportive they could at least act like they care,,and anyway who are these private company advisors anyway ? what powers do they have ??

      • @donkey i merely posted these rules that they may be challenged by being aware of them especially the universal crapit ones which are totally absurd

If we are to achieve anything it is to take apart the absurd nature of these made up on the spot conditions

do you advocate the work of rethink?
all i see is an approval proclamation by the dwp/rethink, with no antidote…
give me resolution countenance to their rules…many people will be in despair @ seeing rethink and the dwp stating what one must do, in unison/choir tacit approval of…the permutations of case rule break scenarios is vast, no one is going to be able to carry such weight in their heads/minds…they’ll buckle under the load caused by the mind boggling distraction…or one is driven to surrender to their rules without antidote, therefore they are in control of one …all one needs is a rough sketch of their rules and a rule of thumb antidote to them…

  9. SANCTIONS SANCTIONS SANCTIONS…..

“What if I don’t follow the rules in my claimant commitment?

If you do not follow the rules in your claimant commitment, you could lose some of your benefit. This is called a sanction. There are four levels of sanction which can be applied for various reasons.

    Maximum sanctions

If your claimant commitment says you should be available for and actively seeking work, you could lose some or all of you UC if:

You voluntarily cease working or lose pay for no good reason
You lose your job due to misconduct
You do not apply for a specific job for no good reason
You fail to take up an offer of paid work
You fail to do a mandatory work activity for no good reason.

You would lose your standard allowance for 91 days the first time this happens, 182 days if it happens a second time within a year, and 3 years for a third failure within a year of the second offence.

If you are claiming as a couple, you will lose 50% of the couples allowance if one partner is sanctioned and 100% if both partners are sanctioned.

    Medium sanctions

If your claimant commitment says you should be available for and actively seeking work, you could lose some or all of you UC if:

You fail to comply with the work search requirements
You fail to comply with a work availability requirement

You would lose your standard allowance for 28 days the first time and 91 days for a second time within a year.

If you are claiming as a couple, you will lose 50% of the couples allowance if one partner is sanctioned and 100% if both partners are sanctioned.

    Low level sanctions

If your claimant commitment says you should prepare for work and:

You fail to comply with a work focused interview requirement
You fail to comply with a work preparation requirement
You fail to comply with a work search requirement

You will lose your standard allowance until you do what was agreed or you are no longer required to do it, plus 7 days for a first failure, 14 days for a second failure within a year and 28 days for a third failure within a year of the second offence.
If you are claiming as a couple, you will lose 50% of the couples allowance if one partner is sanctioned and 100% if both partners are sanctioned.

    Minimum sanctions

If your claimant commitment only says you must attend work focused interviews and:

    • You fail to take part in a work focused interview for no good reason.

If your UC is sanctioned at the lowest level you will lose 40% of your standard allowance until you start attending or you are no longer required to do so.

If you are claiming as a couple, you will lose 40% of the couples allowance if one partner is sanctioned and 80% if both partners are sanctioned.

  10. “You fail to do a mandatory work activity for no good reason.”

      • @GEOFF thanks mate that tells you quite a lot , not only can the withdrawal of benefits kill you but forced work can do exactly the same it seems . If they cant get you one way they will get you another . I see in Private Eye how DWP have been evasive over releasing the number of deaths due to Benefit Sanctions claiming its not in public interest . Oh really i fucking think it most certainly is

  11. £120 Billion Welfare Reform !! Is that £120 Billion over budget !! Not to mention the overheads with Maximus. Admin at it`s most wasteful. £100 a stamp £50 for the piece of paper for a letter. £10 a staple. Admin don`t pay tax on these work items. Shame the tax payer is paying for it all.

  13. Have a lovely Christmas everyone on this blog and thanks to Mr Void for providing all the information and statistics regarding the DWP – it has been very helpfull to myself and to my friends. Wish I could see a live debate between Mr Void and Ian Duncan Smith on the telly. I know who would win hands down. xx

    • But don’t hold your breath, the benefit system is no longer there as a safety net …

The real benefit fraud thousands of redundant JCP employees that have sanctioned the safety net to shreds, millions of pounds of taxpayers monies syphoned off to private welfare-to-work providers.

IDS close the redundant JCP offices and terminate the WP contracts that syphon off taxpayers monies to fraudsters.

  14. What’s all this about CC stuff?

I have refused to sign mine for over a month! Not worth the paper printed on mate!!!!!!

FK all they can do about it! It holds my personal info they NEVER told me they were retaining so told them where to go! 4 x I/vws later still tried to coerce me to sign!

    NO WAY hosay!

  15. Because of the rise of retirement age people aged 60-66 are equally liable for Bedroom Tax, benefit sanctions and losing disabled / chronic sick benefits, but have been denied state pension payout since 2013, payable if remain in work (half of over 60s are within working poor) or lose job under the massive austerity job cuts, that will now double to 2 million after Autumn Budget.

But the money is sitting pretty and cannot be used for anything else in the ring fenced and full National Insurance Fund for the one third that is committed to paying the state pension.

And the money is being wrongly called a surplus.

With the flat rate pension going to leave
women born from 1953 and men born from 1951 with
    NIL STATE PENSION FOR LIFE
and the bulk of the rest with LESS NOT MORE state pension
    (lots of small print)

  16. Not at all surprised! I went in for my session with my “Work Coach” to discuss Job opportunities and Training,SFA,not interested in helping, just a gruelling session of what they will not do. Living in rural Wales,I find it hard to believe that there are over 6000 positions available within 20 miles according to UJM,the recovery? Pull the other one!

  17. Reblogged this on Beastrabban’s Weblog.

  18. Sanction JCP offices, close them down there is no safety net to administer other than the wages of redundant JCP employees and greedy PCS union members.

    IDS close them down!

  19. Thousands of redundant JCP employees that administer sanctioned benefits.

A waste of taxpayers monies IDS close JCP down.

  20. Redundant JCP managers that have sanctioned the safety net to shreds and have nothing left to do but tweet happy-babble at taxpayers expense.

    IDS close JCP down.

    • Too right, shut the fucking places down – and just pay JSA like a pension and at double the current rate (from the savings from shutting down the sanction centres)

      • Hear Hear, there are no jobs so benefits should just be paid automatically into the claimants bank, until a time when they decide to bring back real employment for someone other than poverty pimps and JSA staff.

Make sure the pimps and JSA staff are sanctioned first before benefits are made automatic because these CULTS (or should there be an N in place of the L) should have a taste of their own medicine.

So too should those involved with the psychobabble crap.

MERRY XMAS JV AND A HAPPY CLAPPY NEW YEAR 🙂

May your rising mortality rates, suicides and acts of barbarity against fellow human beings, go vitually unnoticed as your campaign of ethnic cleansing gathers pace.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

I have been reading through Twitter feeds of JC+ employees and came
about one by a Becky Newborough, Senior Operations Leader for
Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire & Rutland district where she states
that Spalding JCP where Ms Newborough states “Fantastic result for
@SpaldingJCP who have hit all 4 of their JSA off flow in month
targets, as well as their youth target at 39 weeks”.

Now I have screen captured this post so that even if it gets
deleted I will still have proof that it existed. I can forward this
image on if you can supply me with an email address.

The DWP and Mr Iain Duncan Smith have constantly denied there are
targets in place to remove people from benefits.

Given the above can you please tell me what each and every JCP
targets are and who set them.

        Yours faithfully,

        Clive Arnold

          • “NAME THE PLACEMENT PROVIDERS DWP”

            74.
In our view the DWP has not established, on the evidence it pres
            ented to us,
that the identification of Placement Hosts will lead to a likelihood that they will
be targeted in a relevant manner and/or to the extent that the public interest
will be harmed to any material extent.
            75.
We should add that, such are the weakne
sses in the DWP’s case in
establishing that disclosure will lead to any of the problematic issues it has
identified (whether for Placement Hosts, Contract Providers or the operation
of the Schemes as a whole), we would have reached the same conclusion
            even
if we had decided that other exemptions had been engaged and had
been persuaded that the public interest factors against disclosure should be
            aggregated.
            Conclusion
            76.
In light of the findings set out above we have concluded that:
            27
            a.
            FOIA sections 29 and 43
            are not engaged;
            b.
FOIA section 36 is engaged but the public interest test favours
            disclosure;
            c.
If we were wrong about the non

engagement of sections 29 and 36,
and if, as a consequence, the public interest factors militating against
            the disclosure sought wer
e to be aggregated, the operation of the
public interest test would still favour disclosure.
In those circumstances the Information Commissioner was right to conclude
that the DWP was not entitled to give a “neither confirm nor deny” response to
the Sheehan and Sheldon information requests and should not have refused
            to disclose the information so
ught in the Chance information request.
            77.
Each of the appeals therefore fails and the DWP should respond to each of
the information requests in the manner indicated in the relevant decision
            notice.
            78.
            Our decision is unanimous
            Mr Christopher Ryan
            Judge
            22 December
            20

            • @Geoff i put in an FOI and got back not only a flat out rejection buy it came with a ” this request will be HIDDEN … freedom of what exactly ?,total bollocks total cover up,and denial

            • Ive contributed to johnny void blog for some time now on and off and i am shocked to see it cited and blamed in this report , campaigning against forced unpaid work and harsh sanctions you would think was a criminal offence according to this tribunal or case thing
If you are using adobe reader and search for johnnyvoid and see how many times its mentioned and what is written is a disgrace,,
The sue ryder case i have recollection of as i printed out copies of the blog where it mentioned that sue ryder charity was using unpaid workers claiming they were just ” volunteers” which was rubbish some were claimants forced to work at sue ryder shops
I remember this event as i had handed a few printouts to customers of sue ryder shops in order to create awareness of what was really going on with that company i also remember exposing the sue ryder company when i found it was meeting influential people with a view that that would take over parts of the NHS and in doing so would receive large sums of govt money

So is this campaigning against this stuff now seen as criminal and even more worrying being monitored and misused as ” evidence ” ??

This was an email i sent to friends after downloading that PDF and adding it as an attachment to those emails

Shocked to see ” johnnyvoid” and other campaigning groups slighted and misrepresented in that doc, never thought i would ever see that stuff happen to be honest

          • @GEOFF so does that mean that subscribers to this blog are all deemed crimimals and that JohnnyVoid would be ” The Ring Leader” haha

Yeah when the state fucks up it needs scapegoats to blame and distract away from the real culprits

            • Read the BBC news this morning Bob, it cites a case in London where protestors were on the balcony of a closed down grade 2 listed bank. Not one mention of what they were protesting about, but it went on to say they would be cooking dinners for the homeless……………………
The media are complicit in a war against the impoverished and infirm to such an extent that it is definitely a class war that will eventually spark human tensions and rioting will ensue.
Their house of cards is rocking from side to side with every revelation that seeps out, the evil that manifests itself in positions of power is showing through the torn fabric of the real society.

As long as we have a collective voice we are an adversary to be reckoned with.
              MERRY CHRISTMAS BOB XXX

We are on same side fighting against the stuck up arrogance and sense of privilege these politicians lords etc all have thinking that we as little people do not matter just pay them to keep them in privilege and entitlement whether its us to be worked to,death or starved to death or our children to be raped and tortured by them its all the same evil arrogance

  22. Well i haven’t got past the first page and i found this because it’s the usual rubbish ..”Our aim is to help people find and remain in work to ensure work pays” Robert Devereux Permanet Secetary..
So how come i am being pimped to a so called charity for no Pay , no training, no hope then! ………or does he mean i will be in work and they pay the charity to offer me no pay, no training, no hope!
And this report costs how much to report!

  23. does anybody else rember the good old days when the job center actually helped you find a job when there were all thses cards on the wall and you took the number gave it to the member of staff on the desk and they got you an interview. and when the job club sent people on courses that were actually useful like the forklift truck driving course.

does anybody else here remember that..

    • overburdenddonkey

      nuggy
oh yes… when they just said ‘have you done any work since you last signed’ and ‘sign here!’
there’s a typical days of yore signing scene in the ‘full monty….’

      • overburdenddonkey,

Signed on then and now, then the naked humiliation could be dispelled with the full monty humour, now the naked humiliation evokes the images of cast off corpses.

    • Yeah, I remember them days! You didn’t even have to be unemployed. You picked up a card if you fancied a change of job, then the advisor arranged interview for you and even offered to ring you if a suitable job came in. These people still work for the Jobcentre and are as bewildered as we are, they can’t wait to retire. Xx

  24. No longer a safety net but a torcher rack going from fortnight to fortnight in total fear of sanction and destitution, fear to the extreme that a claimant will embrace the refuge of servitude.

That is not a safety net and anyone that thinks they are defending social security by defending JCP is politically naïve and delusional in their act of solidarity.

  25. Always ironic when a Government solution costs much more to administer than to deliver/give etc.

A few years ago there was talk about online-only signing on. Sounded very pie-in-the-sky and “whats the catch?”

Would save enough money to eliminate the needs for those benefit sanctions. Most jobcentre staff and welfare-to-work provider staff are the lowest of the low anyway so for them to lose their “jobs” would be good.

    • And you, Universal Jobmatch can sod off with your endless fake scamming jobs that repeat themselves more than twice across all pages and are identical in every town.

  26. Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!

How much for that twiiter crap £60,000 a year !!

Twitter gone down – What twitter targets 500 tweets a week promoting DWP targets – with the DWP policy of not setting targets.

I see the Contradiction Policy is working.

  27. Cameron taking pride in the country’s ‘christian values’ and of ‘looking after others’ What a bloody hypocrite.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-30586541

    • Dear Chairman Cameron of the never elected party, thank you for ruining any semblance of Christmas with your vomit inducing hubris. You said…

“Among the joyous celebrations we will reflect on those very Christian values of giving, sharing and taking care of others,”

“This Christmas I think we can be very proud as a country at how we honour these values through helping those in need at home and around the world.”

You think we should be “very proud as a country” with 13 million people living in poverty, including 27% of the 2.5million resident children.

You think we should be “very proud as a country” where one million people in this country are now relying on food banks run by charities, a shocking rise of 163% on the previous 12 months.

You think we should be “very proud as a country” when 80,000 sanctions will be meted out by the DWP this Christmas. Saving the coalition £19 million in JSA alone.
Another £700,000 will be saved by the DWP from 6,800 disabled people on ESA.

You think we should be “very proud as a country” where 93,000 children in the fourth richest country in the world will be homeless at Christmas this year.

You think we should be “very proud as a country” when last Year 31,000 people died from cold, with over-75s accounting for 26,500 winter related deaths.

You think we should be “very proud as a country” with the cost of living rising three times faster than wages.

I could go on but I am too busy being ashamed of this country…

      • Well said stilloaks. You said everything i was thinking about that pile of shit that gigantic hypocrite Cameron spewed out. I was too depressed about the state of this country and someone having the friggin’ cheek to spout that garbage despite what people are suffering to write out what i felt.

I’m glad you wrote it mate.

  28. As the state engaged terrorsism known as ‘Social Insecurity’ blunders along under it’s own momentum, destroying lives, causing devastation and misery in it’s wake, happily backslapping it’s most obnoxious ‘Admnistrators and Managers’ at the cost of the Public Purse (you and me) – there’s an irony – we’re actually paying these fuckers!

I was on a work programme – Avanta b******s!!! i happened to miss an appointment it filtered back to the jobcebtre my interrogtor asked me why i did not attend i asked the interrogator if he was making up his quota of 3 sanctions a week in order to keep his poxy job i told him it was common knowledge that that was a requirement and had been leaked by someone in the DWP’s own department he denied it saying he was ‘only doing his job’ no furher action was taken on that occasion.

We fight these fuckers by being aware of our rights, and sharing that information with everyone on the receiving end of this kind of treatment. We are people. We are strong. We are not unemployed because we wish to be unemployed – more and more people are becoming aware of the shamness, falsehood, lies and abject brutality of the way our society is heading. We fight this by sharing our knowledge. Meanwhile, Io Saturnalia (Happy Christmas, everyone) 🙂

    • Sir Stephen Hawking (Voice of Microsoft Sam)

You really need to brush up on you astronomy, jaston25: Io is one of Jupiter’s 67 moons 😀 (and here we are making do with ONE lol , must be gorgeous the Jovian night sky though 🙂 )

  29. im going to say the “unsayable” young women have worked out, have kids and they cant touch you, sanctions what sanctions?,if they have a partner the partner will be sanctioned not the mother,i say this from direct knowledge, not hearsay,if your single no kids your fucked,if your a woman who can bear children then get pregnant, yes you may end up in tempory accomodation but ultimately your kids will save you,its pretty much bussiness as usual…crisis what crisis? until now i really didnt buy into this idea until now as i now have seen it first hand…on a lighter note thank you mr void for this superb site

    • I can’t believe this — attacking the overprivileged mothers, who supposedly get pregnant to avoid work and collect benefits. ‘Only’ the partner will be sanctioned — and this doesn’t affect the kids? Your kids will save you if you’re homeless? Are you not aware of the numbers of homeless children; are you not aware of the ‘social’ workers poised to snatch children for the mother’s crime of being poor and badly housed (though they always find some more palatable excuse)? (Cue torrent of abuse from these saintly professionals, who are under so much pressure from Tory cuts blah blah.) Are you not aware that IDS requires unemployed mothers to attend ‘work-focused interviews’ when the child is 1, and to go to work when the child is 5?

Take your pick of scapegoats: immigrants, lazy young people, greedy pensioners, single mothers — any other candidates? Sure, single childless people are fucked, but so is anyone else without a well-paid job.

      Whatever happened to solidarity?

      • The left destroyed solidarity in their quest for new revolutionaries and the utopian society. The working class are not moving to the right per se, but are fleeing the idiosyncratic political self indulgences of the left.

    • RIP David Clapson

Too fucking right, it is single guys with no kids like David Clapson RIP who get fucked over and totally destroyed. Women with kids always have a ‘human shield’ which at least offer some protection: “if you stop ma money the little ‘uns will suffer 😦 “

      • The DWP place special emphasis on if you are SINGLE and have NO KIDS almost like you are TARGETED FOR ELIMINATION. Totallygivenupspeaks the truth although, as always the ‘politically correct’ (that’s you Katherine Perlo) will deny it… 🙂

        • They will target almost anyone – or, in fact – anyone.

Single parents (more often than not women) are amongst those who have been regularly hit by sanctions. And so, by definition, are any dependent children who have had to go without – whatever, including heating, lighting, adequate amounts of food, clothing, money to travel to school in some cases/their uniforms to be laundered. Right back to the stigma which existed in the 40s/50s – if stuck with no ‘back up plan’ it was clearly apparent and could lead to a bad time at home & at school.

The second ‘lone parent adviser’ I had to see every fortnight was ‘old school’ – not too far off retiring/had seen all of the changes that have come in. He was a (half)-decent human being who would spend time trying to do ‘in-work’ calculations for something ‘constructive’ to do. Before him, though, and again directly afterwards (before being sent on the work programme where it was much the same – pot-luck) were two advisers (both were women – so much for solidarity between women – I hope neither were parents themselves) who made it their mission to find a ‘reason’ / tired all the possible ways to find job search evidence ‘not good enough’. The second of these was much nastier than all 3 put together.

This has all been well documented (lone parents/people with learning difficulties/mental health problems/young people/older-less computer literate people). There is no need to mention the fact that an adviser could be racist/homophobic – there are more-than enough targets amongst the general population within & in-among these groups, to satisfy their sadism.

No-one should be ‘sanctioned’ & no-one deserves this to happen to them more than anyone else. Even the casual, commonly accepted use of this term meaning ‘To take away someone’s chief source of income’ is unconscionable.

  30. Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat
Iain Duncan Smith is a silly old twat.

One can imagine that he will be stuffing his fat face for the next few days in his castle with turkey, goose, expensive wine and chocolates all from Harrods with money awarded to him for stripping us peasants of our meagre JSA or ESA.

I hope he fucking chokes to death over his christmas dinner tomorrow and thus, this will spare us all of being future robbed of our decency and well-being from his bollocked-up sanctions and mis-work programme.

I would have been expected by him, through his massive failure CWP – SEETEC CAN FUCK OFF – to attend my placement today and all of next week, except New Year’s Day if I had not completed a JCP holiday form, and which I would have instead missed my christmas telly and a chance to properly relax, put my feet up and enjoy the festive season with a box of chocolates. Two weeks of not getting up at 6:00am, in order to just having to fuck about for no money, all the while fat-face smithy is one smug fucktard at me and gets Seetec £250 a week through my forced, illegal CWP attendance.

I went onto my Universal job mis-match account yesterday morning and the cheeky wankers at my JCP had the audacity to wish me a merry christmas via an alert message. The only merry christmas I will get is when they fucking give me more money a week to survive on until I can finally get back into work after endless rejections of my perfectly acceptable CV.

I only hope that the bald-headed tosspot smithy does NOT ever get knighted in the New Year’s honours list – otherwise this will be seen as a complete contempt for everybody else below him.

  31. Nice to see the DWP facebook page getting all festive with their Guardian newspaper link

    http://careers.theguardian.com/careers-blog/career-advice-santa

Next, the DWP will be telling us Santa is actualy employed by them to make sure we are nice or if we are naughty we won’t get our meagre JSA rations and our christmas present is a further five years stuck on CWP…

  32. Merry Christmas everybody, despite the DWP doing their best to spoil things.

  33. Yeah, Merry Christmas all, and Happy New Year, I guess …

  34. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY, ” A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR” TO JUDGE D J WALL AND DR P J MANNERS, WHO REGULARLY ATTEND THE TRIBUNAL BENCH OF SCARBOROUGH MAGISTRATES COURT…………………………………….

Stealing benefits from the disabled has given you both an enviable income that will see you both enjoying the trimmings afforded to the able bodied, unfortunately, your victims will be suffering the hardship that you enforced…………..

My Christmas lunch will take no preparation or energy costs.

Out of date luncheon meat slices with egg and some crispbreads, dry.

Enjoy the opulence afforded to those who police the government welfare cuts………………..

The £33.20 per week that you left me to survive on is probably less than your hourly rate.

Chew your ill gotten gains carefully as we would not like to see you choke.

  35. department for deciet and sanctions

fuck you duncan smith you fat lying cunt! and fuck all you heartless sanction center plus workers! i hope you slip in your kitchen on a lump of goose fat and break your fucking necks!

  36. May I wish ALL those who are unemployed on this informative site, especially Johnny, a very good Xmas, and the Best for the future for those who are suffering under the uncalled for, unjust and unwanted sanctions they suffer from.

As for those who maliciously have supported, aided and abetted this regime. I pass to you all this Fact which will come to pass – not for all of you but enough to make me smile “May You Live in interesting Times”. And you will, believe me you will. No milk of human kindness for you. When it happens to you, enjoy. I can assure you, that I will when the tables turn on you scum.

  37. Apart from mistaking the modern system as capitalism and no slave marxism, spot on

  38. Boris Johnson - Mayor of London

Have any of you scroungers who purport to be starving, reliant on food-banks and all that poppycock never considered a career as an after-dinner speaker? You would get to gorge yourself silly on the finest of cuisine and trouser a shed-load to boot. Plenty of opportunity to grope pretty waitresses too if one is that way inclined…

    Merry Christmas,

    Boris

  39. Jobseeker WARNING

Hey jobseekers – make sure that you don’t ‘slack off’ on your jobsearch over the Chrimbo period – universal sanction match will be online tomorrow and New Year’s Day so make sure you log-on to your account ‘and apply for all suitable jobs’, yeah I know its Christmas day… but remember that when you sign-on again after the ‘two-week holiday’ the jobcentre will expect/demand evidence of the past 4 weeks. Don’t be caught out (and sanctioned in the New Year)… the jobcentre sanction machine will be waiting………………..

      At our expense of course

    • Well I’m not doing any jobsearching today or tomorrow, so the DWP lunatics can all sod off and choke on their christmas dinner of grouse and turkey today. Seeing my JCP advisors send me christmas greetings as an alert on my UJM account is one thing, but expecting me to spend all day today job-searching is another. Bollocks to that nonsense. I’m enjoying today and don’t want it spoilt by some jumped-up little tin-pot hitler hiding behind a desk in DWP towers, namely one Idiotic Dumhpkoff Shite who I see as the anti-christ anyways.

I hope he chokes to death over his lavish Christmas dinner, paid for out of all the money stolen from jobseekers in the name of illegal sanctions imposed on them for petty things such as attending hospital appointments of job interviews that clash with their JCP attendence times.

The best christmas present would be that he gets sacked and thrown in jail for all the people who have died under his regime of sanctions, bedroom taxes and other nasties we yet don’t know about. Fat, fucking, greedy, ugly shiteall may be a scrooge to us all today, but he can clearly fuck off and go back to playing with his dolls-house.

    • A lot of jobseekers are going to get busted over this, can’t wait… 🙂 Hang ’em jobseekers high… 🙂

  40. Hopefully the sheriff and her men will be one of them, getting sacked and sanctioned all at the same time!

  41. For reasons of being afeared of the already searing battle going on between Labour and The Greens, the Greens’ Leader Ms Bennett has not put into the Greens’ 2015 manifesto a couple of policies, that would end the cruel benefits regime and starvation at a stroke for all ages, from kids to grannies.

One is the automatic and universal Citizen Income, in or out of work and not requriing to be actively seeking work as just basic money to survive for all, without all the billions wasted on benefits admin.

Full State Pension to all citizens, irregardless of National Insurance contribution / credit history, to same amount as Citizen Income.

Both of these will be to the basic tax allowance (this will be £10,600 last I heard for 2015-2016 tax year), and have a supplement for those living alone and for the disabled.

Ask your local Green candidate for 2015 general election now, as the Greens are in the process early next year in voting in policies for their 2015 manifesto and these two life-saving policies for you and me by the tens of millions of people are not yet on the Greens’ election pledges for the general election.

Ask why these policies have been omitted, when with them The Greens could form a majority government in the UK parliament in London by gaining the 303 Labour and Lib Dems seats predicted for 2015.

    • One is the automatic and universal Citizen Income, in or out of work and not requriing to be actively seeking work as just basic money to survive for all, without all the billions wasted on benefits admin.

A universal citizens income would not be needed as survival for the rich and is the reason I am against wasting billions giving yet more money to them, most of which have opted out of not only NI contributions, but also using tax avoidance or evasion when and where they can.

      • overburdenddonkey

        santa
if a UCI pays enough for vitality giving vitals of life then that is surely enough…who cares about the rich and what they get…who indecently will be taxed @ a much higher rate and there will be a greater demand to close tax loop holes and end tax evasion….as well as the admin costs of individuals claiming benefits etc, billions will also be saved in other services like the N ill Service aka the nhs…the whole scheme would likely be administered through the tax system…a UCI on it’s own could drive rents down by the personal choice of moving, redistributing populations, to now sparsely populated rural areas of the UK,….coupled to land rights and building millions of more eco-homes (inc self build) would further drive housing costs down….a distributive tax system works in many countries…nordic countries ie denmark …but because of there being no jobs for many, in the UK and much of europe, a UCI is vital…and will eventually fully restructure european economy…and create many new sustainable jobs, by cause of redistribution of wealth…it will tend to grow our economy in a sustainable way…
the idea is to tax the rich to pay the poor…no one rich no one poor…the knock on affects of UCI will be of enormous benefit…
the greens must not surrender to neoliberal policies and must move away from them…
UCI removes the power from many of the revenge/punishment profitization tormentors of our culture, and will be transformative…

        • I think as long as you allow the rich and powerful to stay wealthy, they will use that wealth to destroy a lifestyle you envisage before you have had chance to tax them out of the equation.
They will no doubt be joined by the noveau riche to stop your dream of fairness and economic distribution.
The only way forward is for a new type of currency that has to be earned, not bought with existing currency and not in the hands of yet another power of greed and corruption.
A universal income will not be fair!

but they will stop any form of alt currency with the tax system…ie lets…
money was invented coz some products were difficult to store…money allows the energy/fat of products to be stored and TAXED sustainably…

            • Why would you give them money they don’t need via a universal income, while taxing money they have in excess, it just doesn’t make sense.
It would be easier to take control of the banks and freeze their bank accounts and assets to justify giving them a basic income (but that would only take care of wealth they have in this country, not what is siphoned off and hid abroad), which you would have no jurisdiction over.

‘Why would you give them money they don’t need via a universal income, while taxing money they have in excess, it just doesn’t make sense.’
it would guarantee an income’s safety net is always in place…
                remove any stigma eventually…
no one rich, no one poor…so that people can earn more than UCI/EBI/BCI…it’s a start, as i have already stated…the idea is to merge income’s so extreme’s no longer happen…
                you’re also sampling 2 current extremes…
the tax system already works by ie taxing income @ different rates and from PA’s…there would be a cross over point where a person no longer receive’s the advantage of UBI…it would be worked out on paper to balance account’s…
with other types of general taxation such as VAT corp tax etc…
what would your solution be to inequality of incomes, one that removes sanction’s and conditionality (bullying)? many people are suffering real hardships, right now!
this is a blog post, i haven’t the time nor the energy, nor the space to make a more detailed one off responce, which no doubt i’ll be required to do over and over again…other than what i already have…a UBI seems like a very good idea to me i put it out there, you don’t like it ok…come up with a workable solution yourself?

                • To tell people to come up with a workable solution as a way of justifying your inadequate solution,( which by the way has more holes in it than a colander) is not conducive to good policy making.

I am sure I could come up with something more realistic than giving rich people an extra income in order to alleviate the poverty of the poor (which
I do not believe it will do in the long run anyway).

You seem happy to swallow anything the Green party tell you and fail to see the problems not only with UBI but with immigration or the European Union, which seems to be working against the people of this country not for them.
An amalgamated Europe appears to be a force working as a united front against the enemy within, than any perceived encroaching enemy they like to conjure up.

                • And in the meantime whole housing estates are given away to private developers like Barratts and a few million quid chucked at them for good measure
Yep support the rich makes ( no ) sense at all

‘To tell people to come up with a workable solution as a way of justifying your inadequate solution,’
no! i haven’t said that @ all, i have some ideas, and had the guts to post them, for comment or ridicule from others… i post seeking truth from others of the pitfalls of any argument or whatever….i mean you might have better ideas and solutions than me, that i can work on…that is how progress is made..i’m asking you to explain your ideas of course, but only if you want to… it can mean that you are not ready to do so, or many others things but the idea of a forum is to exchange and express ideas…and yes i think you should explain to me the pitfalls, instead of being completely dismissive and without having any alt ideas is not fair enough…that you can’t come up with any ideas atm your self does not make your gut reaction to my post invalid or crap… ultimately if everyone on this planet only had a £, money would be worthless, it only gains worth as a trading commodity when some have more than others…it’s a totally unfair way of the valuation/distribution of what is ultimately energy/fat or a way of storing and trading perishable goods, and paying for solid non-perishable infrastructure, but it’s the best we do atm…

        • No-one rich, no-one poor – dream on (except those that have money hidden abroad they can dip into whenever they like)
You need one world economy to stop the capitalist in their tracks.

Getting tax out of the rich is like getting blood out of a stone now, so how do you think a Green party can achieve this, without sending the rich off to some tax haven to deposit their money.

I am not in favour of throwing money at the rich which is obvious, I also prefer cutting out the middleman whenever possible, i.e. selfbuild projects too for hospitals and other public buildings instead of PFI’s, but you have to have money in the kitty to start these projects, why else would the labour party have used PFI’s????

Why did Europe decide to take 5 years pension off British women if it was working for people in this country?
Why is it desirable for Europeans to move from one country to another to alleviate poverty if it is working in the interest of all of it’s member countries?

We need to belong to a one world economy and not the one that has the lowest income levels for it’s citizens or tax havens for the rich to profit from.
The European Union is just another elitist club, who consider it’s ordinary citizens to be the enemy within given the type of decisions they are making.

During the hearing the Judge made the following observations:

Social Media allows members of the public on unpaid workfare to disclose the names of workfare placement hosts and they are under no duty of confidentiality. That much of the media attention had been caused by Tesco ‘shooting itself in the foot’ over recruitment adverts for unpaid workfare in it’s supermarkets.

  48. DWP OBSTRUCTION OF DUTY TO PROVIDE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION RESPONSE

    Dear Georgina Smith,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FoI) request received on 26 November 2014. You
    asked:

    “QUESTION”
I wanted to find out if an existing PIP award had to be taken into account by a DWP DM
in the same way a DLA award is (as PIP has replaced DLA) when assessing a
claimant’s claim for another benefit, such as ESA. I asked for any data relating to this
requirement, should it exist: law, legislation, guidelines, internal memos, etc. This data
was not provided or it’s absence explained.
    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………
    “DWP ANSWER”

You asked the Department whether case law in a
particular case which currently applies to DLA would also be applied to PIP. As the
Department has not considered this issue, it does not fall within the scope of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and the Department need not answer it.

If you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting the reference number
    above.

    Yours sincerely,

    DWP Strategy FoI Team

    • ……………….STRANGE THE DWP DID NOT CONSIDER THIS CASE LAW?

      dla evidence

CE/2894/2011 [2012] UKUT 256 (AAC) holds that the tribunal also erred in law by not considering the possible relevance of the existing award of DLA or, if they did consider it, by indicating what they made of it, adding that –

“While the tests for the two benefits are not the same, there is sufficient common ground that one may provide material evidence for the other.”

The dark satanic mills that (still) stand near to where some of my family lives are ‘luxury’ flats/an art gallery now. At least children no longer work in/are killed working in them. When my mum was growing up, her dad worked in local soap factory – I think most if the neighbours dad’s probably too (where is soap made now?!) . I’ve no idea what their contracted hours were – quite sure Saturdays were included in the working week though – perhaps just Sat. morning?. A social club was conveniently placed further up the road for evenings off entertainment – (?) also owned by the factory owners – factory was called ‘Owners’ Family Name’.

Someone where I’ve been working just now said the other day that management take on board union reps’ views “less than they used to now” – they are there/attend meetings etc., – but compared to any influence/power they may have in the not-distant past. Knowing that many workers consider themselves ‘fortunate’ just to have a job & fortunate to have received a mini-pay rise, rather than none/redundancy. We’ve made so much and yet so little progress …

The disability minister has refused to say whether he has taken any measures to remove access barriers that could prevent disabled people visiting his constituency office.

Disability News Service (DNS) revealed earlier this month that Mark Harper had been accused of hypocrisy after he called for shops and restaurants across the country to improve their access, even though his own high street office in Gloucestershire was inaccessible to many wheelchair-users.

ask yourselves how it is possible to project savings without setting targets? Even Noddy would not be as thick to dismiss the obvious link.

In a freedom of information request to the DWP, a question was asked about assessments being done by phone, apparently it is going on at this moment.

Ask yourselves, how the fuck is it possible to ascertain a persons health over a phone call.

        Dear Operations FOI Requests,

        Thank you for your reply.

I feel that two questions need clarifying firstly, your response to
my question number 1 referred me to a link and paragraph number but
it doesn’t answer the question. Nowhere in the link that you
provided does it mention assessors conducting telephone
assessments? So again my question is-,
Do the Departments Guidelines allow for the PIP providers to
conduct part of the assessment by phone?

In your response to my question 6 you state that the information
I’m requesting is not held at your department. So can you kindly
tell me who I would need to contact to get this information please?

        Yours faithfully,

        Ms K Sutton

  77. G4S, the company with no convictions – but does it have blood on its hands?

The number of deaths linked to G4S employees, some with racial overtones, means this company must have a problem. When will it be held to account?

The Guardian Monday 22 December 2014

The racist texts found on the phones of two of the three G4S security guards who escorted Angolan deportee Jimmy Mubenga to his death in 2009 required a double take. One text, written by defendant Stuart Tribelnig, read: “Fuck off and go home you free-loading, benefit-grabbing, kid-producing, violent, non-English speaking cocksuckers and take those hairy-faced, sandal-wearing, bomb-making, goat-fucking, smelly raghead bastards with you”. Meanwhile, 76 racist texts were found on the phone of G4S guard Terrence Hughes, which were targeted at black Africans, Asians and Muslims.

      • The judge in the trial was already knobbled to produce a favourable outcome for G4S.
Texts on the phones were deliberately ignored by this bent judge. Money and influence are the only justice in the UK and have been ever since the judicial system was invented, its who you know, not how guilty you are.

We consistently murder at will and nothing ever happens, the Brazillian electrician assassinated on a tube train and a police officer downing an innocent newspaper seller come to mind……..
In the second case the police used a bent coroner to falsify the cause of the mans death, later to be struck off when it was exposed that he had been used in several police investigations to concoct dodgy coroners reports.
Nobody was ever charged in either case, but the G4S case should be reopened immediately now the full context of the assailants phone has come to light………………………….or deliberately buried, as i see it.

    • “”””These tragedies have happened too many times in too many different situations in too many countries to not believe that G4S has a systemic problem. Is it systemically racist or systemically incompetent?

Yes, in extreme cases individual employees will be charged (and inevitably cleared) of manslaughter. But perhaps it is only when G4S knows that it will be charged with corporate manslaughter if somebody in their care dies unnecessarily, that they will ensure they recruit responsibly and learn how to look after people in their care without killing them.””””

  78. G4S and Serco won Whitehall work despite being ‘on probation’

    FT Dec 10th 2014

Five government departments awarded G4S and Serco fresh work during a period in which Whitehall “gave the impression” that all business with the two outsourcing companies was on hold until the outcome of a review.

The Cabinet Office was widely understood to have barred Serco and G4S from winning new government work until they had they undergone a period of “corporate renewal” after both companies were referred to the Serious Fraud Office for overcharging on electronic monitoring contracts.

But an investigation by the Commons public accounts committee found that the two companies were quietly awarded 14 pieces of additional work worth £350m in the probation period that ended in February for Serco and in April for G4S.

    • CONT.

The committee found that “the quantum of additional work that was awarded to the companies during the period was not clearly communicated to parliament at the time”. It demonstrated that the government remained overdependent on G4S and Serco, which were in a “quasi-monopoly position” and therefore “too big to fail”.

Margaret Hodge, who chairs the public accounts committee, said “the impression the government left was that all business with these two companies was on hold until the outcome of a review”. “Instead, what we uncovered was that they had given extensions and new contracts,” she said.

The Department of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Ministry of Defence and HM Revenue & Customs all gave the companies new work during the period of apparent purdah.

The contracts came despite a statement by Chris Grayling, the justice secretary, in October in which he said the government was investigating all contracts held by the companies worth more than £10m. “We will not be awarding the companies any new contracts unless or until those audits are completed to our satisfaction,” he said.

The Cabinet Office told the committee it was unable to blacklist companies from new contracts because of EU procurement restrictions. It said it believed “the “government worked within legal and operational necessity constraints to limit work placed with both companies”.

Both G4S and Serco remain under investigation by the SFO for overcharging on contracts to electronically tag prisoners, including offenders who had died. Serco also lost a contract providing out of hours GP services in Cornwall after it was found to have altered performance data and remains under investigation by City of London police for manipulating figures on contracts to escort prisoners to court.

The cross-party committee said that too often “the ethical standards of contractors had been found wanting”. “A culture of revenue- and profit-driven performance incentives has too often been misaligned with the needs of the public who fund and depend on these services,” it said.

But the watchdog also urged the government to pay more attention to contract management given that the private sector delivers about £90bn of services on behalf of the public sector — almost half of public sector expenditure. Although Ms Hodge welcome government initiatives to improve monitoring in the wake of the tagging scandal, she said the improvements “were on the margin”.

A Serco spokesperson said yesterday: “Since the events of 2013 Serco has put in place a corporate renewal programme that was positively assessed by the Government Oversight Group, and has strengthened internal management systems and governance. There has also been significant changes within the senior management of the company.”

G4S said: “We are pleased to have been able to contribute to the inquiry. We welcome improved contract management processes and more effective engagement with contracting government departments. We think this will lead to improved services and greater value for money for the taxpayer.”

  82. “IF 41% OF ATOS REPORTS WERE CONSIDERED TO BE “CONTRACTUALLY UNACCEPTABLE” BY THE DWP, WHY WEREN’T THE CLAIMANTS MEDICALS WITHDRAWN?”

Following months of complaints about allegedly unfair and slapdash decisions made by Atos, the Department for Work and Pensions audited around 400 of the company’s written reports into disability claimants, grading them A to C. Of these, 41 per cent came back with a C, meaning they were unacceptable and did not meet the required standard.

The findings mean the company will be stripped of its monopoly on deciding whether people with disabilities are fit to work. The DWP said the poor quality of the company’s written reports were “contractually unacceptable” and announced on Monday it would be inviting other companies to bid for fresh regional contracts by summer 2014 to help reduce waiting times. Liam Byrne, the shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, said: “This is a direct consequence of three years of appalling contract management by Iain Duncan Smith.”

Disabled man has benefits cut on CHRISTMAS DAY as he’s deemed fit to work

    Dec 27, 2014 22:47

A disabled man had his benefits slashed on Christmas Day – after Scrooge officials insisted he was well enough to work.

Richard Crabbe,44, has complex learning difficulties and is unable to use a computer, cook without help or even go shopping on his own.

But disability benefits assessment firm Atos axed his £339 monthly severe disablement allowance from December 25 after claiming he was fit to work.

Richard lives with three others in a flat supported by charity Mencap.

He earns £331 a month from a part-time job at Homebase, where he gets a lot of help from supportive colleagues.

This is topped up with £304 a month disability living allowance – but losing the severe disablement allowance has cut his income by a third, leaving him fearing a homeless and hungry future.

He said: “It was a very sad Christmas and I’m worried I’m going to be poor and won’t have enough money for food shopping.”

Atos, whose government contract ends early next year following criticism of its techniques, asked Richard a series of simple questions before ruling he was able to carry out numerous tasks unaided.

Its report wrongly said Richard lived alone and could care for himself.

Dad Dick, 75, said: “Richard will answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ if he thinks it’s the right answer but may not necessarily understand the question.

“They say he’s able to use a keyboard and a mouse. While that’s probably true he won’t necessarily know what to do with them – so he can’t use a computer.

“It’s clear he’s been judged by someone with no understanding of his disabilities.”

Now Richard, of Bedford, must apply for employment and support allowance.

Mencap’s James Bolton said assessments were seriously flawed, adding: “Richard’s experience has left him scared, believing he could become homeless.”

“The Department for Work and Pensions said: “Anyone who disagrees with a decision can appeal. We are bringing in a new assessor to replace Atos.”

A&E departments also saw a shocking 17,886 patients left waiting for admittance on hospital trolleys for up to 12 hours, more than double the 7,684 for the same period last year.

A dad was sent a letter asking him to go on a health check-up for disability benefits – two months after he died.

The grieving widow of Stuart Mullins, 53, hit out today after her late husband was asked to undergo the medical tests for Disability Living Allowance.

Widow Julia, 54, registered his death on October 15 using the Tell Us Once service – meant to ensure a death is reported to most government organisations at once.

But she was outraged to get a letter addressed to her husband from Atos Healthcare to carry out the disability benefits check for the Department of Work and Pensions.

Mrs Mullins said: “It was disgusting, absolutely disgusting. I was so upset and it was really upsetting at the time as you are already missing someone at Christmas.”

The letter, dated December 21, requested that Stuart attend an assessment for his benefit claim at Newport Medical Examination Centre on January 20.

But Stuart, of Newport, South Wales, died from cancer on October 14.

      Wales News Service Stuart Mullins
Letter: Atos sent it months after Stuart’s death

Father-of-one Stuart had using a walking stick and wheelchair due to limited mobility in his left leg and ankle.

He was claiming Disability Living Allowance for his immobility.

Stuart died at his family home in Somerton, Newport, just months after being diagnosed.

Mrs Mullins said: “He was a lovely, wonderful man. He made so many people happy and he is sorely missed.”

Atos Healthcare – which provides independent assessments on behalf of the DWP for a range of government benefit schemes – has apologised for the blunder.

A spokeswoman for Atos said: “We are sorry for any distress this has caused.

“Unfortunately, unless we are asked by the Department to withdraw a case from our system, we will automatically send out a letter.”

A DWP spokeswoman said: “Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Mullins.

“We are sincerely sorry for the mistake that was made and understand the distress that this has caused.”

He may be able to claim other benefits during this time, such as hardship payments. He’s probably unfit for Jobseeker’s allowance (JSA). He should seek further advice especially if he has no money to live on.

Although I reside in Canada, Since January 2012 I have been reporting voluntarily to the UN’s human rights office, in Geneva, on the welfare crisis for Britain’s sick and disabled.

Widow’s disgust after husband sent disability assessment letter two months after he died

        Wales Online: 31st Dec 2014

Julia Mullins’ husband Stuart had died from cancer in October

A widow has branded health-care officials “disgusting” after a disability assessment letter was sent to her husband more than two months after he had died.

To add to her pain Julia Mullins, 54, was sent the letter from Atos Healthcare just days before Christmas.

Her husband Stuart died just two months after being diagnosed with cancer in August.

He was given 12 months to live, but the cancer was so aggressive he died on October 14.

The 53-year-old had been claiming Disability Living Allowance because he was using a walking stick and a wheelchair after an operation on his twisted foot when he was a youngster.

    • “HEAVYWEIGHT VICTORY”

A 133-kilogram man has won a “landmark” case in the British High Court after judges ruled his obesity classified as a disability and that he had been discriminated against by his employers.

John Walker, 49, from Cornwall, was dismissed from his post as an IT manager at Sita Information Networking Computing UK. According to his employers, he had spent seven years off work due to health problems, which included asthma, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Walker originally lost the case when the court did not classify him as “disabled” due to his weight, although the decision was overturned on appeal. It is now understood that Walker has received a “six-figure” settlement from a health insurance company.

      • ………………..another potential DWP Mortality statistic?

A WHEELCHAIR-BOUND man from Littlehampton has been left ‘devastated’ after the Government axed his disability allowances just days before Christmas.

Jon Ball, of The Cape, has suffered from Klinefelter’s syndrome all his life. It’s a condition which has left him in constant pain and in need of heavy doses of medication.

However, this month, the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP), which provides his incapacity benefit and disability allowance, said he was no longer eligible for support

Jon, 59, said: “When that news came through, it was devastating to say the least.

“It’s something that didn’t make any sense to me. I was still in a wheelchair and couldn’t do anything about it.

“Apparently, I’m fit for work, which is a total joke.”

Mr Ball is currently unemployed due to his illness. However, he had previously worked as a delivery driver and car valet among other jobs. He explained that due to his condition, he was forced to take dozens of pain relief and muscle relaxant tablets a day just to get by.

However, he tries to live as independently as possible.

“I have had the condition all my life but it only came to a head in 1990 when I became paraplegic,” he said. “That put me in a wheelchair.

“The condition means I have constant pain in my legs, back, joints muscles and skin.

“Imagine when you are hit and given a numb leg. Well, the pain that comes in after that is what I have 24-7.

“If I’m not in bed, I have to crawl upstairs to it. So I’m normally just sat in my wheelchair.”

In July, Mr Ball took part in an assessment test at Atos Healthcare, in Brighton, to see whether he still qualified for his allowances.

However, after months of waiting, the news was broken to him earlier this month that he would be losing his £600 per month support.

He said: “The impact on me is massive. I’m trying to run a house but I can’t because I have no money coming in and my last payment was today (Friday).”

A spokesman from the DWP stood by the move and explained the decision on whether someone was well enough to work was taken following a ‘thorough independent assessment’, and ‘after consideration of all the supporting medical evidence ‘ of a GP or a medical specialist.

“The work capability assessment is designed to look at what someone can do with the right support – rather than just writing people off on sickness benefits as happened in the past,” he said.

“Everyone is entitled to request a reconsideration on a decision made on their claim.

“However, Mr Ball has not asked us to do this.”

………………THE ANSWER IS OBVIOUS, NONE WHATSOEVER

These are statements from the governments own website, yet the DWP CONTINUE TO STEAL THE BENEFITS FROM THOSE AFFECTED…

    What ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ mean

‘substantial’ is more than minor or trivial – eg it takes much longer than it usually would to complete a daily task like getting dressed

‘long-term’ means 12 months or more – eg a breathing condition that develops as a result of a lung infection

There are special rules about recurring or fluctuating conditions, for example, arthritis. For more details about the special rules download the ‘Equality Act Guidance’.

Download ‘Equality Act Guidance’ (PDF, 789KB)
    Progressive conditions

A progressive condition is a condition that gets worse over time. People with progressive conditions can be classed as disabled.

However, you automatically meet the disability definition under the Equality Act 2010 from the day you’re diagnosed with HIV infection, cancer or multiple sclerosis.

“HOW MANY DISABLED, HAVING SUBSTANTIAL, LONG TERM OR PROGRESSIVE CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN ROBBED OR DIED AS A RESULT OF THE UNQUALIFIED ASSESSMENTS OF INSURANCE INDUSTRY DRIVEN THIEVES?”

  95. Now that OBESITY has been recognised as a form of disability, should the DWP Work Capability Assessments be rewritten to encompass this important change that may have significant impact on a claimants assessment.
If no such changes were made to the assessments it could lead to an unprecedented number of appeals.

Given than this important change must now be taken into consideration when doing an assessment of someones ability to work, such in ESA or PIP, has this opened up the doors for reappraisals, and who would ultimately foot the bill?

Council Directive 2000/78/EC of 27 November 2000 establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation must be interpreted as meaning that the obesity of a worker constitutes a ‘disability’ within the meaning of that directive where it entails a limitation resulting in particular from long-term physical, mental or psychological impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder the full and effective participation of the person concerned in professional life on an equal basis with other workers. It is for the national court to determine whether, in the main proceedings, those conditions are met………………………

Katie Hopkins reported to police for ‘hate crimes against overweight people’ in new TV show

The Independent Thursday 01 January 2015

The former Apprentice contestant Katie Hopkins has annoyed a lot of people in her time on social media – but it seems she may have now gone too far after she was apparently reported to the police for committing a “hate crime” against an overweight woman.

In an incident recorded for a new TV programme about her own weight loss, Hopkins stages a panel discussion with five people who, it is claimed, represent the interests of those with weight issues.

Hopkins has previously said that all “fat people are lazy”, and in an openly insulting exchange told campaigner Kathryn Szrodecki that “it is not healthy to carry that much weight on your knees”.

  99. “WHY ARE THE DWP IN A QUANDARY OVER THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THE LAW SAYS YOU NEED TO LIVE ON?”

………………Seems such a simple question yet they shop and change the answers to suit themselves.

    This is the latest interpretation;

“There is no specific law which states that you need a certain amount of money to live on. The
wording “the amount the law says you need to live on” is still used in some of our notification
    letters.”

………..yet it used to be this:

“In response to your question, income-related benefits such as Jobseeker’s Allowance are paid
at a rate set by Parliament each year. The amount is intended to cover all normal day to day
living expenses. The amount of benefit payable depends on the individual circumstances of
the claimant and their family ”

    and this:

“The rate of Jobseeker’s Allowance is not determined by ‘living costs’ and so is not possible to
provide a breakdown on that basis. It does not include separate amounts for specific items of
expenditure such as food or fuel charges.
Rather the Government firmly believe that claimants should be free to spend their benefit as
they see fit, in light of their individual needs and preferences, rather than having a set pattern
of expenditure imposed on them ”

    and earlier still:

“There are several different pieces of primary legislation, under which regulations are made,
which cover entitlement to, and other aspects of, income-related benefit payments. The main
acts are the Jobseekers Act 1995 which governs Jobseeker’s Allowance; the Social Security
Contributions and Benefits Act 1992 which governs Income Support; the Welfare Reform Act
2007 which governs Employment and Support Allowance; and the State Pension Credit Act
2002 which governs State Pension Credit”

    ……………….not to mention this:

“In setting the rates of benefit the Government needs to take account of the competing
demands on public expenditure and work incentives. Benefit rates are not an aggregate of
separate amounts for specific items of expenditure such as food or fuel charges. The
Government has not prescribed what expenses the personal allowances cover as it is for each
individual or family unit to decide how to spend their benefit, in the light of their individual
    needs and preferences.”

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,oh, and this as well:

    “Dear Geoffrey Reynolds,

    Thank you for your Freedom of Information request received 26 April. You asked;

Has an exercise ever been done to quantify if £71 would be enough to sustain a human being?

We are not aware of any exercises undertaken by Government on adequacy of benefits.”

      Dear Mr Reynolds,

      Thank you for your Freedom of Information request received 23 April 2013. You asked;

You recently quoted these paragraphs below, in a FOI request I sent you.

The European Convention of Human Rights does not give an automatic right to receive
benefit. Where a State does provide benefits, there is no right to a particular amount. The
Government has set the rate of benefits at an amount that it believes to be reasonable, and to
ensure that no individual suffers destitution. This is compatible with the Convention .

The level of UK benefits paid in pensions, jobseeker’s allowance and incapacity benefit is “manifestly inadequate” because it falls below 40% of the median income of European states, according to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

  101. STRANGE HOW THE DWP MISINTERPRET EVERTHING OBD?

The Council of Europe, which has 47 member states, said the conclusions were legally binding in the same way that judgments relating to the European convention on human rights had to be applied by member states.

However, the DWP suggested the findings merely had to be “taken into account” by British courts when assessing claims. The difference of interpretation is likely to lead to lengthy disputes when ministers attend the next round of meetings in Strasbourg.

Prosecutors in Florida are accused of violating victims rights when they reached a plea bargain with Epstein without consulting the victims. Royal friend: Ghislaine Maxwell in New York

Just off Central Park, in New York’s most expensive district, there are two magnificent townhouses.

The first was built in the 1930s for the heir to the Macy’s department store fortune. It’s the largest private residence in the city, and as such virtually priceless.

Behind its 15ft-high oak front door lives one of the most talked-about men in Manhattan. It is here, in convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s house, that Prince Andrew stayed for four days before Christmas.

And it was at the other house, a Beaux Arts-style residence valued at around $16 million, that Andrew and Epstein’s mutual close friend, the ‘busy, foxy, crafty’ (as a male friend describes her) Ghislaine Maxwell — daughter of the notorious Robert Maxwell — threw a party in Andrew’s honour during the same visit.

The professionals, social workers etc., who are criticizing you, are worried that you are breaking their monopoly on “helping” the poor and/or homeless. Pfft! It is a great name and from what I can tell, those who are working for you are HAPPY about doing it.”

  107. @GEOFF yeah we know all about Elm Guest house and Leon Brittan who was there as he was an offender , the irony of Geoffrey Dickens hadnding his dossiers over to Home Secretary not knowing that same Home Sec was a child sex abuser himself of course the dossiers went missing it had his mates names in them , and Harvey Proctor was at EGH too and he later had two shops and was done for vat fraud which is weird as customs and excise also seize obscene material and also weird because vat barrister working for customs and excise was colin peters who was also at Elm Guest House , see they get everywhere oh and Harvey Proctor was at Dolphin Square where a few boys were killed yes its horrible stuff mate

    • CAROLE KASIR

‘Carole said she had a load of photographs of famous people doing stuff at the gay guest house,’ said Issett. ‘The name I remember is that of the fat man, Cyril Smith.

On Sunday morning, June 17, 1990, Carole Kasir, then 47, was found by a friend, in bed at the Carmichael Road flat. She was dead, with ‘numerous injections and phials of insulin’ lying about her.

Certainly the coroner was concerned about the circumstances surrounding her death.

  108. @Donkey if you mean paedophiles then the answer is that you cannot “cure” them as 1 some dont regard they have a problem and its just soceity being repressive
2 in their head children enjoy it and encourage physical relationship with adults and are not harmed and even gain from it (!?)
3 they constantly re offend its around 70% re offending rate

4 some go on to torture and murder , more dangerous activity happens when they operate in gangs

what i asked is; do you advocate the work of rethink/mind?
if not what type of therapeutic approach do you advocate, for cure of mhp’s caused by emotional injuries, which is all of them…i still would like an answer…
i know exactly the mo of paedophiles…and they are completely curable, one does not start by trying to cure paedophilia, nor ie murders…..their crime is irrelevant too achieving a cure…their crime(s) is/are a symptom…anything else is branding and/or scapegoating…yes, i know that their crimes are dreadful….which makes me weep, that no one is curing their personality disorder(s)…as CSA/CA is rife in the uk….
for cure see work of dr bob johnson…

ps dr bob was curing people, but had to stop due to lack of support….

      • @Donkey dont take this the wrong way and i am not avoiding your question . I just want to comply with Johnnys rule about going O/T and he puts in a lot of effort on these blogs and for us to discuss what he proposes also its a distressing and unpleasant subject and upsetting for some . I must say i was surprised to see it mentioned here
What i may consider is using my own blog attempt to discuss these matters ( my welcome to stupid blog. No i dont know why i called it that )
so perhaps yourself and geoff and others might want to take it there
In fact i am considering now to use that blog of mine ( will have to rename it) to report on our findings thats if i can figure how to use wordpress as it looks like a nightmare

Ok let me figure all that stuff out and i will get to grips with this stuff ok

        • overburdenddonkey

          chewie
you brought up the CSA/CA subject and were merrily discussing it with others before i posted in responce to your above post in fact.. i asked a question rethink and the dwp rules you posted…so i haven’t had an answer to it as yet, it does in fact relate directly to the previous jv blog post..it is right (emotionally healthy) to be upset and distressed about CSA/CA or any other form of abuse @ all times…everyone who posts put’s in a lot of effort….
welcome to stupid is a good title, and you’re any thing but, it reminds me of your love a british comedy esp the plank….

  109. @Donkey ps thanks for reminder i have to contact nick davies as we have a follow up on a piece he did ages ago

  110. “ONCE AGAIN THE DWP ARE UP TO THEIR OLD TRICKS, HIDING THE CONTENT OF THE MAXIMUS CONTRACT”

It comes as no surprise because they are aacting to suppress the main cause of the deaths of the disabled community.

IF THE EU HAD ANY BACKBONE, WHICH I DON’T THINK THEY HAVE, THEY WOULD BE INVESTIGATING THE DEATH TRAIL ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE DWP………………………………

How many innocent people have you killed this year Mr George, fucking nobody, Smith?

Will you be going for a record number of scalps to outdo last years staggering amounts?

………………….The world is watching your every move, you fetid pile of stinking shit.

    • …………………everybody thinks that once they leave politics, they can slide into obscurity. On the contrary, some have a price upon their heads,

Being protected by bodyguards is nothing to do with fame, no stampedes for autographs, just the call for retribution for those you put to sleep.

Quivering pieces of jelly that understand , that without guards they would be vulnerable targets, quite ironic really, don’t you think ?

As vulnerable as those they chose to murder, those least able to put up a fight of any kind…………………….

Geoffrey .. Dig deep into the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (registered as an independent charity) and you will find that they too are a member of the same Atos family along with their partner the Royal College of Physicians of which the FOM is a faculty member of, and living rent free in the same accommodation.. By both groups distancing themselves and pertaining to be a different organisation from Atos/Unum they can gain additional seats on government advisory panels, give support to policies, and be additionally consulted on new legislation to give strength to the intended changes., all whilst being part of that same group.

In 2009 the FOM held their 30th Anniversary celebration at the House of Lords supported by their sponsors Serco and Atos Healthcare..

Occupational health services serving more than 1,000,000 Government and private employees had achieved SEQOHS accreditation by October 2012. this is managed by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) on behalf of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM). Staff working for some of the country’s biggest employers are receiving occupational health advice and support from accredited services; this includes 1,000,000 staff looked after by ATOS healthcare. A hint came from Cameron when he said “We are all in it together.”.

  113. @GEOFF My friend knew Carol Kaisir and yes to the photos of Leon Brittan having being a guest at Elm Guest House in fact a Telegraph journalist was also staying there too as was Nicholas Fairburn scottish Tory MP..

  114. @GEOFF remember Grunwicks dispute in 70s you can look it up ok now imagine that as a front for child porn distribution .

  115. “THE FACULTY OF OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE IS REGISTERED AS A CHARITY, BUT WHAT ARE IT’S REAL AIMS?”

Having two prominent members sat as CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICERS, BILL GUNNYEON at the DWP and ALISDAIR EMSLIE, a property tycoon at MAXIMUS UK is no coincidence………………………………….

The faculty was set up to promote the welfare reform changes that are handing out our services to the private health insurance industry.

Everyone with links to the faculty have had prominent positions of power when voting on matters of welfare reforms.

Disability and sickness denial are big business, ask yourself why a property tycoon has opted to work for a health insurer who does medical evaluations on behalf of the state?

More deaths equal bigger payouts, the bigger the denial the greater the profit………………………..

Dig deep into the membership of the FACULTY OF OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE and cross reference it to meetings with insurance companies…………………….

Same old names keep cropping up all the time, why bother lobbying for a cause when you have a ready made springboard, an intermediary, to do all the dirty work for you.

Elmslie and Gunnyeon are but two of the faculties key figures, dig deep and you will realise how the NHS is being driven towards the private health insurers……………..

It is your health that is paramount, not the bloated pockets of those who seek to rob you of your lives.

The workings of a charity are meant to be open and honest and accountable, these qualities have no bearing on it’s goal………..

    • “FACULTY FOR OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE OR THE GATEWAY FOR PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE?”

In 2009 the FOM held their 30th Anniversary celebration at the House of Lords supported by their sponsors Serco and Atos Healthcare..

They have but one ambition, you are just collateral damage that stand in their way……………….
Hence the DWP trying hard to hide the mortality figures from public view.

  116. “However, he claimed they were told she had not actually been fully sanctioned but was subject to a “discontinuance of entitlement”, which he says is a “back-door method of stopping claimants’ benefits” while not being counted as a full sanction.”

Is that a new one they have come up with ?.

  117. Thatcherism embraces a nanny state for the rich, how much money could business make without an army of workers. And now they want to take it further by destroying the welfare state. Something has to give.

  118. “Peter Morrison and the cover-up in the Tory Party – fully updated”

Peter Morrison and the cover-up in the Tory Party – fully updated

    • @ANNOS Peter Morrison was a regular to North Wales care homes, it was said that Thatcher knew that he had raped a boy at a London address which again connects to Leon Brittan where extreme videos were made , its also suspected that Morrison had been involved in the abduction of a 15 yr old boy in 1976 whose death and body found was deeply suspicious

who controls/manages the treatment’s and expression available to CSA/CA victims, in the uk?
please name the service providers…and types of treatment available…

        • overburdenddonkey

answer 1; the state…ans 2; now no curative treatment’s are freely available…so effectively there are no useful service providers, only managers of mhp’s….
do you advocate behaviourism or not…?

  119. Authoritarian fanatics but not sure they can be defined as conservative or right-wing, even their political ideology is absurdly confused and incompetent.

More the immoral code of a criminal fraternity hence the law breaking and disregard of their own law-making.
