Chris Grayling Is A Lying Bastard Court Hears At Workfare Tribunal

graylingSo desperate are the DWP to hush up the names of charities using workfare that they have been reduced to using a blog post titled “Chris Grayling is a lying bastard” to prove how horrible everyone is being to them because of their forced work schemes.

The post was part of the evidence provided by the DWP at yesterday’s tribunal brought to appeal the Information Commissioner’s Office’s (ICO) decision that charities using workfare should be named.  This followed a Freedom of Information request made two years ago asking for the names of organisations who are accepting workfare placements on the Mandatory Work Activity scheme.

The DWP have pleaded that if this information was made available then workfare will collapse such is the awesome power of Boycott Workfare.  Reams of evidence has been produced by the department, largely taken from the media and Boycott Workfare’s website, which they claim shows how MWA will be destroyed if the public learns the names of these charities.

They also complain that anger at forced work has been ‘strident’ rather than ‘standard’ criticism, and that some bastard had even referred to charities using workfare as “thieving fucking criminals” (which if you read the post you’ll see isn’t strictly true).

The DWP’s argument seems to be that workfare is so unpopular that who is involved has to be kept a state secret.  This is despite the duty of charities to be open and transparent about their activities.  Luckily we know only too well the names of many of the charities forcing people to work without pay.  Household names including @salvationarmyuk, @YMCA_England and @groundworkuk are just some of the organisations who use forced workers on Mandatory Work Activity.  They are not thieving fucking criminals, they are just exploitative cunts.  Boycott them.

A judgement is expected in four to eight weeks.  The individual who brought the original FOI has published details of the arguments made by both sides at the tribunal.

  1. But it’s true…Grayling is a lying bastard and charities who use workfare are thieving fucking criminals!

  3. I must object to you using the term ”CUNTS” in reference to Chris Grayling, the DWP and charities involved in ”Workfare ”. Cunts are deep and warm and tender with a depth of feeling that the above mentioned bastards are totally devoid of. Very good article otherwise Mr Void.

  5. It is an exercise in pointlessness on the part of Grayling – other than to buy time to set up this latest part of the UK slavery programme. Those sent on this enforced ‘work sets you free’ initiative – supported by LibDems as part of their fairer society – will use social media to inform where they have been sent. So it will all go into public domain anyway.

    • This secrecy is so unhealthy. The so called lib-dems with sympathetic faced but steel hearted leader Clegg still oblivious to public mood fingers in their ears will only hear the wake up call as the axe strikes down in 2015. Like headless chickens running around in confusion wondering what went wrong – dummies!

    • The Queen doesn’t have any influence in this whatsoever. By all means the Monarchy is arguably a very outdated concept, but this one woman alone was born into the family without choice and it is the UK Government who wield the bloodthirsty axe that dooms the rest of us.

The Royal family are actually an asset to the UK though, and offer a lot of benefits to us that go unheard of. The Monarchy is an office that can sit quietly above Government, able to provide neutral oversight and utilise reserve powers in times of national emergency (the 1975 constitutional crisis, for example).

The Royals and their properties are also a big money spinner. Tourist revenue is strong, with annual profits of over 500% compared to what they cost us – and that’s without calculating the additional profit the country makes from their land usage. Since 2000, money credited into the UK treasury in the name of the Royal Family is an annual average of £176 million, whilst the tax payer pays £40 million to make the investment work. This means that they garner a profit of £126 million a year in tourism each year alone, and I suspect that average has since gone up given the spate of Royal events in recent years. All of this works towards a reduction of taxes for us all – albeit a minimal reduction, but that’s a good thing nonetheless.

On the more human (less statistical) side, The Queen is a figure of consistency in Britain – a familiar national face in a time at which the country is facing something of an identity crisis (what with Scotland, the EU etc.). Politicians, heads of church, cultural icons…all change every few years at best. Elizabeth has been a face associated with this country for six decades, assuming her current title as Queen at a time when we were still recovering from the Second World War.
She has overseen and advised the work of 11 British Primeminister’s and 12 American Presidents. She is the patron of over 700 charities, has kept the Judicial system up to date by personally introducing over 3000 new laws, has kept the vast number of Commonwealth nations united when others would have let it fall into decline, acknowledges major contributions through the Honour’s system (as do other Royals), gives the country a consistent identity, acts as a national ambassador earning respect and interest on an international scale, and provides a sense of continuity in times of celebration, grief or disaster.

In regards to being ‘born into power’ I am sure it is very much a mixed bag. Whilst she might not face the middle class struggles such as ‘will I make this months rent?’ or ‘is there enough food in the fridge?’ she instead lives under constant scrutiny from the public and the media, and has the heightened threat of there being many people who would put a bullet through her through some supposed political statement or other.

Personally, I think Elizabeth has earned the respect of a nation who questions the importance of a Monarchy. Before she assumed the throne she served in the Royal Nurses corps and did her bit for the war effort. If after that and all these years in service, still not retiring into her Eighties I really don’t know what you have to do to earn a bit of respect in the world. But I’d say that the 1.5 million people who crowd The Mall just to get a glimpse of her is a sure sign that she is held in a very high regard by a lot of people. I can hardly imagine such a warm response to Cameron and Clegg standing on a balcony in the rain after all.

    “IT PAYS TO GRUMBLE”

    GEOFF —

The spikes have been removed from 118 Southwark Bridge Road, SE1!

The events of this week have been incredible. As soon as the spikes were spotted, the public rallied together and demanded their removal. Over 130,000 people signed my petition. We demanded better from the developers and better from our capital.

Boris Johnson spoke out and said they needed to go. Spikes were spotted outside a branch of Tescos and so activists poured cement mixture over them. Hours later Tescos removed the spikes.

It was then just a matter of keeping up the pressure.

Then this morning the spikes in Southwark were gone!

I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of compassion and humanity in supporting the removal of the spikes and getting the City, the UK and the world talking about the issue of homelessness. The spikes were simply a symbol for the way homeless people are often treated, they have started an important discussion that has been a long time coming and one that we need to keep having.

Please share the good news by tweeting this:

The anti-homeless spikes were removed from the block of flats #PeoplePower change.org/nohomelessspikes

Thank you and well done — we did this together!

    Harriet

    • The spikes were a stupid idea whoever conceived needs a different job.

    • Great news to hear that the spikes are being/have been removed, they are absolutely the most fucking disgraceful and inhumane device and should be condemned by anyone who has even the remotest sense of decency and respect for his fellow man. Well done to everyone involved in getting rid of them!

“He said there had been a recent increase in prisoners which could be linked to prosecutions for historic sex offences.”

We’re supposed to think, well that’s OK then. But are we really supposed to believe an extra 4 or 5 prisoners over a period of 2 years has caused the overcrowding.
He’s like an out of control bulldozer leaving, devastation in his wake as he moves through each department.

  13. Reblogged this on Beastrabban’s Weblog and commented:
The deep unpopularity of a programme is definitely no reason for it to be kept secret, as should be obvious to just about everybody. Everybody, it seems, except the government. Open, democratic, accountable government means that it is open to criticism, attack and vilification. And if a policy is so massively unpopular that anything or anybody involved in it is subject to threat of ostracism and boycott, there are probably good reasons for it. Grayling’s and the government’s arguments are pretty much the same as the Nazi party when they covered up the extermination of the Jews with the euphemism that they were being deported and resettled in the east. The government isn’t that murderous yet, though people are becoming suspicious and an increasing number do believe that there is a deliberate policy to kill of the old, sick, disabled and poor. And Chris Grayling is a lying B’stard.

  14. Regardless of the verdict, we will continue to spread the names of workfare abusers far and wide.

  15. David Cameron and his unelected coalition say they are proud of Great Britain’s Human Rights record, Freedom of Speech, Free Press etc. Of course they are, as long as it’s what HE and his Government want us to do, say and read. Truth and openness? None of them know either. Liars, cheats, fraudsters, sycophants and self promoters the lot of them. Let the truth about forced labour supporters come out! A charity is created to help those in dire need, not to exploit them in their hour of need!

    • Charities exist so the SUPER rich (like the royal’s) pay VERY, VERY little tax or NO tax at all. Ever wonder why the royals are patron’s to so many charities ?, they LOVE them, plus they get everything free at all those slap-up annual dinner’s!!!, WIN, WIN ALL the way for them.

It’s interesting to note that unemployment is so called down but the prisons are overflowing! IT costs something like £15,000 to keep someone in prison and peanuts in JSA and housing costs and yet the idiots would rather have more people in prison than unemployed!.
Most of us knew that prison was an option when the unemployed have no money or prospects.
surly when we the unemployed are sent on our community projects we are all going to know who’s involved or are they going to blindfold us!!!

    • Hopefully the Community Work Placements scheme will remain dead in the water due to continued negative publicity making it difficult for the ‘advisers’ who work for G4S etc to source placements. If I get sent on a CWP when I reach the end of the Waste of Time Programme I certainly will be naming and shaming the scum who think it is acceptable not to pay me. I also can’t imagine myself even being motivated to lift a finger. When I’ve done crap mundane jobs in the past the only thing that has motivated me to do any work was the knowledge that I was getting paid!

    • YEs RH, when you are unemployed and mandated into ‘community projects’ , but all the time subject to sanctions, imprisonment (if they’ve got the room for you!) looks like a pretty good option. I have been tempted to go for it, but I can’t think (yet) which particular crime to commit. Anyone got any ideas?

  19. Why the fuck are these corrupt cunts even in power? Why are they allowed to do what they do? Does anyone care? What does the future hold if things are the way they are now? Are people really that stupid to stand back and allow this? Are these people even human?

    Why?

  20. Put in a strong appeal against a DWP/A4e sanction now being harassed by the Benefit Integrity Centre.

    • Why? If the Benefit Integrity Centre is involved, that implies they think you’re claiming something you shouldn’t. Am wondering what that has to do with sanctions. Are they accusing you of something?

      • They sent form JSA2 with certain questions highlighted with a marker pen, coincidently form to be returned on the same date as the appeal sitting.

Straight forward JSA/HB claim no savings or other income.

One worry is all this talk about changing NI. What exactly is wrong with the current system. Oh I forgot, its easy to check so lets do a bit of smoke and mirrors to disguise our draining it for other things than what’s its for. Oh and not a word about sortong out Workfare.

Getting back to ConfidenceTricksters. So retire for any reason, sickness, being laid off, or early retirement, we’ll ‘ave your pension off you as you’re not dead. If you are dead all to the good, especially if we can work you to death before you retire and cost US your betters and money or trouble. Better hope your Bingo Numbers come up. How’s your Whippet by the way. The pay we’ll offer you Sun readers means that in these “we’re all in it together” times you won’t even be able to afford a Pint. Next Victim, sorry I misspoke. Next Peon please.

  27. Slightly off-topic..

I am now off the ballsed-up work programme and now on my 6 month PWPS. Got some crabby old Job coach who won’t give way on anything nor knows anything about what she can or cannot do under the UJM toolkit.

On thursday last week during an PWPS interview, she gave me written directions to use universal jobmatch daily on my home private computer AND demanded in writing I give her access to my UJM account. Guess what happened on Friday last week…

I went straight back to my JCP and saw the manager over this illegal direction. Firstly, I wrote a letter stating her actions were in dis-regard to their own UJM toolkit, paragraphs – 37, 38, 39,40, 44, 45, 48, 53, 56, 63, 64, 68, 69 and especially 82.

Secondly, I stated quite clearly in my letter that demanding that I must use that bollocked-up website on my own computer was in breach of the E-Privacy directive (stating ‘the customer must give consent for cookies to be placed & stored on their own device”).

I have checked throughly through the EU’s own cookie website legislation (E-privacy directive) and through the UJM toolkit and it was quite clear to me that my so-called job coach could have potentially been punished under the EU law.

I already know from elsewhere that jobcentres CANNOT force people to use UJM anywhere as it is NOT a mandatory requirement under the JSA act, they at the JCP can only force you to sign up and give them confirmation you signed up to it, and also they cannot force yo uto give them access neither as this would breach the data protection act, Article 8 of the ECHR act, and the E-privacy directive – the lawful right to refuse website cookies on your own computer.

So tuesday next week – signing day – I will expect my new claimaint commitment changed in accordance with the law, otherwise I shall be seeking the manager again and demand to see a copy of their public remit.

Under EU law, I have the lawful right to protect my full home, family privacy at all times from any state intrusion (even from the JCP), they know they are not above the law yet they act this way.

JCP cannot force me to use a particular website on any device, they cannot force me to use their own IAD devices, and they cannot force me to give them my account access and all of this would breach various laws protecting my rights to privacy and my basic rights as a free citizen of this country.

    • Off topic as Fen says :

Fen Tiger – you are quite right, have a look at the bottom of :

      http://unemploymentmovement.com/forum/benefit/9220-important-read-this#38491

DWP Manager tried it on when I signed on two weeks ago before placement on Job search Programme. I was having none of it – printed off the sections and despite imposition of a Mandatory Direction made sure it was recorded on my records and recorded conversation on the sly. Lets see DWP management try something. I must point out that I am Unique – ex-employer says I never worked for them. So, no reference, no job – DWP don’t know what to do with me. Apply for jobs, no job = sanction me, but this is down to a civil/criminal act outside my control, sanction not applicable. And around and around we will go.

      • Best way to hit back at the jobcentre if they demand illegal madations is ti use their OWN rules against them – they soon back down and go quiet, denying they ever said certain things in the first place and never giving an apology for what went wrong.

I also used the E-privacy directive against them for good measure, to shut the fuckers up trying to force me to use that crappy website on my own computer during my OWN private time.

      • How did they find out that your ex-employer is claiming you never worked for them? Even if they were told this upon phoning up when you first claimed JSA, surely HMRC has a record of you having worked there (unless you were working in the ‘black economy’ of course)?

I have yet to even be invited to an interview since signing on, but I am in the position where I know that the reference from my last main employer will slag me off. Before I claimed JSA and before I’d finished working at my last school, I had a couple of interviews for jobs in other schools (hence proving the cliche that ‘it’s easier to get a job when you’re in a job’). However, judging by what the headteachers of the recruiting schols said to me, the main reason why I didn’t get the job was the reference from my last headteacher, who seemed to be doing her best to prevent me from getting another job.

I have not told the Jobcentre or A4e that, even if I get invited to an interview, I will likely not be offered the job because of my references. It is bad enough being stuck on the very limited income that is JSA without throwing that spanner into the works. A4e or the Jobcentre would likely claim that the ‘ideal’ solution would be for me to do an unpaid work placement where I would supposedly get a reference. However, the generic reference which unpaid conscripts are given to take away with them at the end of the placement would only be of any use as toilet paper, as recruiting employers usually want a reference which they can seek in confidence directly from a previous employer, not one which is already in the possession of the applicant.

The only way for me to get around the reference issue is if the headteacher of my last school kicks the bucket or (more realistically) if A4e or the Jobcentre provides funding for me to do a vocational qualification, which should then enable me to get a reference from a course tutor and hopefully make me more appealing to employers outside the world of education. However, it looks like there isn’t much chance of this happening any time soon, as A4e refuses to fund any kind of course which would actually enable someone to get a qualification leading to a job.

        • A4e Sucks, all I can say at the Mo’, is that involves a Gov Dept. And considering what they have put me thru could well be criminal in nature, intend to check on that and other things.

  28. The most amusing thing is how they seriously think anyone that’s been sent on MWA for a supposed un-named charity is going to remain quiet about it in the digital age. What with Twitter, Facebook, blogs, e-mail, word of mouth etc the proverbial cat will always find a way out of bag. This is how utterly behind the times these people are which is a worry in itself…

    • Mark Penning – the minister for persecuting people with disabilities – was trying his level best to answer some detailed(ish) questions on WCAs at the work & pensions committee with some of his hench-people yesterday. He was asked about the people who are denied esa, and who in some cases have “serious mental (ill) health” , who are then forced to claim jsa while they await a mandatory reconsideration, and are given a date to re-attend jcp, miss their appointment, for whatever reason(s) – and end up being sanctioned. The mp asking this question was wondering whether this could be the desired outcome and knew people it had happened to in her constituency.

The question met with so much flannel from the minister and his dwp minions – sympathetic faces and cries of “of course this should not happen!” and the explanation that, “JCP sanctioneers don’t always understand the level of leeway they’re allowed to use in cases such as these …”

It’s ok thought because a new memo has been sent out … & the guidelines have been “strengthened”.

If a policy is so unpopular that no one wants to be even peripherally associated with it, isn’t that a sign that, at the very least, you should stop telling everyone how incredibly popular it is?

  38. I do not understand, even a tiny bit, how their defense is even remotely acceptable. It amounts to “the public REALLY doesn’t want this”. How the fuck is that justification FOR them? It should mean the instant dismissal of the program….
They’re not even pretending they work for us anymore.

  39. Jobcentre Plus productivity = death, destitution and despair.

the Road to written constitution….where people are sovereign not parliament, aka the scottish common weal, sound too good to be true… http://news.scotland.gov.uk/News/Road-to-written-constitution-dbc.aspx

    • Sovereignty can not be drawn from a heretical transient post code lottery.

The foundation of sovereignty has to be anchored deep in the soil and draw its authority from the enduring orthodox soul of nationhood – Soil and Soul.

yeah, the frustration is going to be in removing birth place post code poverty/impoverishment…we have been battered down for generations…we have to create an environment where we can stop having to duck the blows, and stand tall….

  42. I’ve been through the New Deals,Flexible New Deal and the Work Programme and in every case the Jobcentre has ignored wrongs by the staff of Providers and we all know that jobcentre staff will be defended by their managers whatever lies they tell claimants. You can never get real justice because the liars will keep their jobs and eventually get good pensions. All we can do is stand up for ourselves but make sure we never cross the line that will give them the chance to sanction us. They police themselves and the ones who are prepared to treat the claimant badly will probably end up as managers themselves.

  43. Hey (little) Lord Jason, “they sound like a bad Chas and Dave?” You made a oxymoron and music is subjective, so why don’t you jog on you regular moron?

  44. Banging my head against ageism some months ago CP suggested I volunteer. Now I have a post I enjoy (with a charity that have supported a friend and his son who suffers from a lifelong condition – and he does really suffer at times) I have been warned not to volunteer for more than 16 hours per week as I will not be leaving enough time for job hunting! Maybe it is because the charity is not linked with slave labour!

  45. Obviously JCP and not CP!

  46. HAH
If only we had our own database, full of all the little individual misdeeds they perpetrate on a daily basis. It would build a very clear picture.
