Talking About Cannabis are so over and we’re so over them

With a bunch of Oxbridge toffs currently positioning themselves for naked class war the rantings of Debra Woodbridge aka Bell seem somewhat trivial.

Added to this is her and son William/Oliver’s increasingly bizarre attempts to rake in cash which reek of the last, desperate gestures of an increasingly doomed project.

William’s even reduced to whoring himself out in a heroin chic photoshoot, with rights to the pictures available for the price of a cup of tea.

Meanwhile they’ve garishly redesigned their website which is now covered in ads for diet pills and online gambling. Classy.

The bored and malevolant may be interested in the fact they now have a forum, although we suspect it is likely to be heavily moderated should it ever extend to beyond one post.

So with heavy heart we’ve decided that we’re not in the business of kicking corpses and will be ignoring the mad old harpy and her errant offspring for the time being. Should the corpse start to twitch however, we will be back.

One thing does remain to be cleared up, which are the rumours that Oliver Woodbridge, aka William Bell, is employed by Government website FRANK.

This rumours seems to have surfaced due to the claims made by the publishers of Debra’s book (currently reduced and getting slated on amazon) who say that Oliver is a spokesperson for the Government drugs support agency ‘FRANK’.

Pretty unequivocal, and not at all true. We contacted FRANK to find out the score …

“In answer to your question. Oliver Woodbridge* was asked by the FRANK team to act as a case study, not spokesperson, when we launched our ‘Brancrashers’ TV advertising campaign. We do not hold Oliver among our list of approved FRANK spokespeople and it would appear that the either Debra Bell or her publishers have misinterpreted the roll Oliver played for us. We have asked that reference to being a ‘spokesperson’ be removed and currently have no plans to reuse Oliver as a case study to support the FRANK campaign.”

*as an amusing aside note how easily and casually FRANK (who are run by the Home Office) out William Bell as Oliver Woodbridge. You can’t trust government’s folks.

(nothing to do with us, but a site has appeared called http://talkingcrapaboutcannabis.com which may be of interest)

Talking About Cannabis – is the game up?

It seems all references to ‘consultations’ helplines and fifty quid phone calls have now been removed from their website.

http://www.talkingaboutcannabis.com/supportforfamilies.htm

Meanwhile the book has a single lowly one star review on amazon:

“I am drug and alcohol worker who bought this book after seeing Debra’s columns in the Daily Mail.

The book is quite frankly a load of rubbish. After reading i passed the book on to several senior colleagues, who cannot believe the depths this woman will go to in spreading lies and prohibitionist propaganda regarding cannabis. What we need in the drugs debate is facts and honest discussion. This book provides the exact opposite.

For anyone wanting the truth, avoid this book at all costs! “

Perhaps it’s time to stop talking about cannabis Debs.

Talking About Cannabis Resort To Threats Of Violence

Anti-drugs group Talking About Cannabis appear to have resorted to obscure, threatening messages.

Reformed pothead (and the rest) and now wannabe drugs counsellor and spokesman on the evils of cannabis, Debra Bell’s public schoolboy son, Oliver Woodbridge has issued what appear to be threats via my rarely used facebook page which today received a message about my upcoming ‘non existence’

Frankly I’ve had better death threats.

It’s not yet know whether TAC supremo Debra Bell authorised this wet job or whether posh kid Oliver Woodbridge (aka william bell) is going renegade.

Oliver fancies himself a bit of a gansta having watched lots of films and taken a few drugs. He also fancies himself as a bit of a media star having recently appeared in the Daily Fail warning of the dangers of the evil weed. In fact lucky readers can even book a telephone consultation with the wise, lanky fuckwit for the bargain price of 50 quid.

What’s brought on this latest aggresive incident is as yet unknown. Cynics might suggest he’s on something. All that can be known is that this shows the true face of the Woodbridges, Debra Bell and the whole shoddy piece of fail that has been talkingaboutannabis.com and Oliver Woodbridge’s life so far.

Debra Bell’s Last Stand: Talking About Cannabis Play Last Hand

It’s two years to the day that the void first published the seminal ‘Talking (bollocks) About Cannabis’, highlighting the lies, half truths and shameless propanganda that lay behind Debra Bell’s anti-cannabis crusaders Talking About Cannabis.

It’s been all down hill for poor old Debs ever since. First went the blog, then following a rapping from the Charity Commission the supporting organisations such as Addaction seemed to scarper faster then a greyhound on charlie.

Finally a much publicised split with school teacher Mary Brett led to the ultimate demise of Talking About Cannabis as an organisation. Mary Brett and the dribblers from the National Drug Prevention Alliance reconstituted the group without Debs who once again found herself all on her tod with no-one to whinge at.

The final kick in the teeth must have been when proper writer Julie Myserson published an equally self-centered but far more eloquent account of her sons descent into cannabis hell. It sold quite well.

Since then Debra’s influence has been much diminshed and she has resorted to increasingly demented acts of self-publicity in an effort to keep her name in the papers.

Her new trick is that she’s convinced the, now reformed, errant son William Bell (aka Oliver Woodbridge) that he might be able to make a few quid cashing in on his minor celebrity status as a middle class fuck up.

Oliver’s hypocrisy in attempting to charge £50 (down from the original £100) for a phone call is the reason we decided to publish the now infamous facebook pic (still on his profile we are informed) of him with his mates who appear to be bigging up the ganja. Reformed indeed.

But our Debra, being tougher than a crocodile hide doused in tar, is fighting back. Her own book comes out next week called ‘The Cannabis Diaries – A Mother’s Struggle to Save Her Family’ and the Daily Mail have been printing extracts.

Such a shame that in Debra’s presumed moment of triumph she should finally be revealed as a vain, cold and desperately thick old bint. The blue-rinsed blue-bloods of the Mail have not been kind to poor old Debs. Here’s the top five highest rated comments today:

This woman shouldn’t be ‘helping’ other people via her website (which she keeps promoting) – she can’t even help her own family.

What a stupid, idiotic embarrasment of a mother. I can’t believe that she’d actually publicise this awful behaviour toward her son. Canabis isn’t an addiction. People smoke it to cover up other problems in their life. This sounds like regular teenage angst (yes, we all stole, lied and had strops to some degree).

Why not just lay down the law, make curfews, sign him on a plumbing course in the first place, sit him down and TALK TO HIM!!! in the first place instead of traumatising the whole family, cutting ties and depriving a brother of his sibling, poisining everyone against him so that she could write a silly little book and get published and then bang on about it for ages.

What the hell is October 15 about??? This woman doesn’t deserve to be a mother. Some parents face their children binge drinking, getting pregnant, jailed or getting addicted to ACTUAL drugs. You know what they do? Help them. It’s called COMMUNICATION.

Oh this poor woman – how on earth do you start a website, a charity and become a living saint with a son getting in the way. I know – chuck him out of the house and abandon him. This woman talks s if she has been living with a crack or heroin addict. Shame on her and her attitude. Millions of teenagers smoke some “weed” and grow out of it. I seriously hope this woman doesn’t come across the full horror of drug addiction. She doesn’t have enough family members to throw out of the house.

She didn’t fare much better yesterday.

See no-one but us had ever read the Cannabis Diaries on her website. They were too fucking boring.

But now the general public gets to see what this venemous crow is really like and may wonder how her and her dwindling band of loons ever managed to influence Government policy.

the void recently featured in the new Cannabis Diaries (she really thinks she might get a sequel!). In November last year Debra wrote:

“Someone who runs a blog and calls himself ‘Johnny Void’ wrote to the publishers of the Cannabis Diaries last week, rubbishing the work I have been doing these past two years and suggesting they think again. Having read a little of this man’s blog in the past, I know he writes about ‘prohibitionists’ – and has referred to me with this term – yet here he is seeking the censorship of my Diaries. How curious. How afraid he must be of this book going out into the world. The publishers remain unperturbed. They did write back though, asking what his stake was in all of this. Good question. “

Like most things on their site this isn’t true.

We did write to the publishers:

“Dear Georgina

I am writing to you as I believe you to be the publisher of the upcoming Cannabis Diaries by Debra Woodbridge/Bell.

Having seen the recent update on the Talking About Cannabis (TAC) website it seems that you have requested the author to provide factual information about cannabis and possible health risks.

The information presented on TAC’s website is at best entirely misleading and at worst downright dishonest. It appears to be based on the research of Mary Brett who claims to be a biologist but is in fact a biology teacher. Brett’s claims are unscientific (1), not backed by any credible evidence and not shared by any reputable scientist on the subject, including those who have been most outspoken on the possible risks of cannabis.

It is also not inline with the current advice given to young people by the Government and in fact TAC advise on their website that the help-line Talk To Frank is ‘not highly recommended for cannabis advice to parents’(2).

This leads to further concerns that you have also suggested to Debra Bell that she provides ‘information about what to do, as a parent or carer, if you find that your child is using drugs’.

TAC’s Self Help and Support page does not list any of the drugs agencies such as Drugscope, Addaction or Turning Point who have qualified counsellors and experience in dealing with problem drug use. Almost all the the organisations listed (with the exception of SANE and Rethink, who are mental health as opposed to substance misuse organisation) are either private consultants with no qualifications or anti-drug pressure groups.

I find it deeply disturbing that vulnerable parents and young people may be steered away from professional, medically-trained, statutory health services into the arms of groups with a purely political, religious or sometimes financial agenda.

Whilst I understand that whilst primarily a medical publisher you frequently explore areas which may be regarded as left-field. However I would suggest that you would do your reputation little good if you intend to publish the wild speculation presented as fact on the Talking About Cannabis website.

It is widely acknowledged that lying to young people about drugs will not only have little impact of preventing them using them, but also faces the risk of making young people cynical about any information on public health which is presented to them. I sincerely hope that you do not intend to further muddy the cannabis debate in this way.

Finally I wish to note my distaste that a book detailing some of the most intimate moments of a vulnerable, young person (whose name, Oliver Woodbridge, is now in the public domian) will be further disseminated to the genral public. It must also be remembered that throughout the entire period from when the diaries were first published online to the present day Oliver Woodbridge has never been diagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia, psychosis or any other mental health condition, despite being taken to several specialists by his mother.

I await your comments with interest.

They replied:

“I will of course take these points up with Debra, but i do wonder who you are and what your stake in all this is?

Perhaps you could tell me the background to your email?

Georgina Bentliff”

We wrote back saying: “I have real concerns, along with many other people, that drug policy is not being dictated by science but a moral crusade.

Sadly Talking About Cannabis are part of that and I urge you to look into any recognised authority on drugs and drugs misuse before publishing the ‘facts’ about cannabis listed on TAC’s website.”

Which they apparantly took seriously as the appendix has now been written by Dr Zerrin Atakan, Consultant Psychiatrist, Institute of Psychiatry.

Debra book can be slagged off on amazon here. For god’s sake don’t buy it, you’ll only encourage her. And it’s shit.

Finally she’s once more ventured into the world of blogging, with comments and everything, you can slag her off at: http://www.debrabellcan.blogspot.com/

TAC Consultants – The World’s Shortest Business Venture

Poor old Oliver Woodbridge William Bell.  It seems his career as a drugs counsellor hasn’t quite worked out as planned.  Until a few days ago the Talking About Cannabis website’s front page boasted:

Tac-consultants

Well that service appears to be no longer available, although Debra Woodbridge-Bell is still offering consultations in her own coy way, whether the hundred quid price tag applies is unclear.

Poor old Debra, sometimes it must feel like she can’t get anything right.

Talking About Cannabis: The Racket Continues

Talking About Cannabis: The Racket Continues

Some people just won’t stay dead.

Debra Bell of the one woman organisation Talking About Cannabis could have been left to drift into well deserved obscurity.

After a well publicised split with school teacher Mary Brett it was hoped that her incessant ego and dishonest diatribe might have quietened down.  Alas it was not to be.

Debra finally got a book published, which is due for release next year.  Desperate to wring every last penny from her son’s personal problems she’s been signed up by Hammersmith Press, a flaky operation who claim to be medical publishers but run a sideline in unscientific drivel.  Which should suit Debra rather well.

Not content with that, but Debra is now offering consultations to families of problem drug users. For a mere hundred quid (you heard that right) you can have a “coaching, support and information session” from an untrained, unqualified posh woman.

What’s more, her son William is now looking to cash in as well.  William Bell is offering telephone consultations, once again for a cool hundred quid.

Now I’d always felt a bit sorry for poor old William.  Having his personal life splashed over the newspapers in furtherance of his mother’s desperate attempt to carve out a career for herself cannot have been pleasant.

But that sympathy has faded.  Basically a kid who smoked a few spliffs (and the rest) charging vulnerable families a hundred quid for a fucking phone call is pure shysterism.

Which is why it’s time to reveal that William Bell is in fact Oliver Woodbridge. He’s got a facebook page and everything, where he lists his interests as “sleeping, smoking, singing, playin football, bein tall (an effort btw), sexing, hexing, vexing,”.

Here’s a picture of him, he’s the one on the left next to the bloke with a spliff in his hand.

oliver woodbridge/william bell

the void is hibernating …

But thought we’d give a quick heads up on the latest hysteria from Talking (bollocks) About Cannabis.

Old trout Debra Bell is claiming that their phoneline for concerned parents will be launched on January 12th next year so as soon as the number is published we will duly distribute it far and wide around the internet so you can give them a call and let them know what you think.

In the meantime you can contact them here.

Debra and co are currently seeking funds for theur shonky organisation with the first priority being  “in particular we need our current voluntary Director to be paid”.

And the current voluntary director is, you guessed it, Debra Bell.  So give genorously folks in the knowledge that every penny you spend will go straight into the pocket of Debra Bell! With her husband a lowly Barrister help the impoverished Bells to beat the credit crunch this Christmas.

She really does need some more crystals if she’s going to save the world.

By the way William, if you are out there, and we won’t come looking, but we’re now pretty sure that you could have your dear old mum up in court under the Human Rights Convention “Right to a Private Life” and could also be in for a hefty sum in a libel action.

Meanwhile we’ll be challenging the Charity Commission’s claim that the information on their daft website is backed by experts – beginning with contacting Professor Robin Murray, cunningly and thoroughly dishonestly quoted on their website in a vain attempt to suggest that a leading Prof’ supports the unscientific drivel they continue to spout about cannabis.

So that’s us done, probably until the New Year, although Grumpy Old Anarchist may be making an appearance if we can get him out of bed.

ps anarchy may be breaking out in Iceland

pps the BNP are threatening various folk for linking to the original link of their membership list which Antifa have in a PDF file here.

Talking About Cannabis – Some people never learn

Debra Bell and co are back with a new press release on their website claiming they are due to receive charitable status next month.  So it’s back to our friends at the Charity Commission:

Dear Mr Bullock

It is with regret that I feel compelled to write to you once more about the organisation Talking About Cannabis (TAC).

Whilst I fully accept the previous situation to have been resolved, this organisation now appears to be claiming that they will receive charitable status next month.

http://www.talkingaboutcannabis.com/press%20release%20july%2008.pdf

The Charities Act is unequivocal that all charities must have public benefit. It is not clear in any way how TAC has demonstrated this to date. By their own admission TAC has operated purely as a lobbying and campaigning organisation with three distinct demands:

“1. The public to be made aware of the scientific and medical facts about the potential effects of cannabis (particularly ‘skunk’) on the mental health of children and teenagers.

2. Preventative drug-education in schools, using powerful marketing techniques, to replace the current harm-reduction education. We need to help prevent children from becoming users, that way demand will stop, and we need to start early – at primary level.

3. Reclassification of cannabis back to Class B from Class C, to send out the powerful, unequivocal message that smoking cannabis in childhood and teen years is highly dangerous.”

http://www.talkingaboutcannabis.com/signup.htm

The second too demands are clearly political in nature and therefore not eligible for charitable status. The first demand is more complex.

TAC wish to make the public aware “of the scientific and medical facts about the potential effects of cannabis (particularly ‘skunk’).”

Whilst this is a demand that may be viewed as charitable TAC’s record on this is excruciatingly poor. TAC’s expert drug’s adviser appears to be Mary Brett who wrote the document intended to be distributed to schools called Cannabis – The Facts.

http://www.talkingaboutcannabis.com/TheFacts.htm

Mary Brett is not a scientist but a former school teacher. She is in no way qualified to make the claims she does in this document which has not been, nor is likely to be, endorsed by any scientist.

Brett deliberately misrepresents scientific studies, whilst ignoring opposing evidence, to paint an entirely distorted picture of the current nature of scientific research into cannabis. It could even be said to be damaging for children to receive drug’s education information which is so blatantly dishonest.

TAC do not have a single scientist on their list of ‘advisors’ and the only reputable drug’s organisation, Addaction, appear to have withdrawn their support for the organisation.

http://johnnyvoid.wordpress.com/2008/06/19/talking-about-cannabis-made-of-fail/

It is also not clear whether this information has been distributed to any schools at all, if so rendering any claims that this organisation has contributed to the public benefit at all to be entirely false.

TAC claim that they will be setting up a helpline for concerned parents, but it is clear that this has not happened to date and no funding is yet in place to support it.

This helpline is in itself of great concern. Not one medical professional agreed with Debra Bell’s assertion that her son was psychotic. No diagnosis has ever been made concerning her son’s mental health as the Cannabis Dairies make clear.

http://www.talkingaboutcannabis.com/Diary.htm

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of both Mental Health Treatment and Substance Misuse Treatment. It is clearly unusual, and arguably bad practice, for an organisation working with a vulnerable client group to breach this by publishing personal details of named individuals on a publicly accessible website without their consent.

TAC claim that all helpline staff will be fully trained volunteers, however given that nobody in the organisation has any credible medical qualifications or experience in working with substance misusers it is unclear how this will be achieved.

Furthermore given the inaccurate claims made by their scientific adviser it is worrying that these distortions could be disseminated to the general public and in particular concerned and vulnerable parents and children.

As to the group’s finances, TAC have repeatedly stated that they have been existing purely on volunteer support.

As the Charity Commission do not normally register charities with an income of less than £5000 a year it is unclear why the Commission appears to have made the decision to do so now.

If the commission have not made this decision then it is clear that TAC are once mis-representing their status as they did earlier when they falsely claimed to be a charity.

It is important to remember that TAC have been attempting to fundraise on the back of these claims, which could be considered fraudulent.

Finally it is worthy of none that four of TAC’s ‘advisers’ are Conservative Party MPs and their Patron is Baroness Anelay of St Johns, the Conservative Party Chief Whip. None of the other political parties are represented.

http://www.talkingaboutcannabis.com/campaigngroup.htm

(Interestingly Tim Loughton MP denies that he is an adviser to the group, telling me: “I am not an adviser I am a sponsoring MP for this newly formed Parliamentary group. Your comments are noted”)

The allegiance to the Conservative Party is strengthened by the interview with David Cameron featured on their Events and Media page. Again, none of the other political parties are represented.

To summarise:

Can the Commission clarify if it is true that TAC are due to receive charitable status next month?

If so, does the Commission not agree that this organisation has to date been a purely political campaigning organisation with strong links to one of the main political parties.  Can the Commission explain exactly how TAC have demonstrated a benefit to the public?

Does the Commission consider an organisation which, whether for reasons of propaganda or ignorance, has grossly misled the public over the science of cannabis, is acting in the interests of the public good?

Does the Commission feel that to date the groups incorrect or dubious claims in several areas renders them competent to serve as a Registered Charity?

Does the Commission feel that a group which flouts normally considered good practice in Substance Misuse treatment is suitable to be accepted as a Registered Charity?

If it is true that the Commission is registering an organisation with an annual income of less than £5000 can you explain why this is?

I await your response with interest.

Talking About Cannabis – Made of Fail

Well, we gave her a chance but it seems like Debra Bell is set to continue talking bollocks about cannabis. Her daft website has been updated and it seems her Parental Action Group is going ahead at full steam … which actually probably isn’t very fast since it’s been the first update in two months.

Debra doesn’t like to work too hard.

We’ve noticed some changes to the site. The link to scientology loons Narconon has disappeared and at the bottom of the page Debra tells us: Talking About Cannabis has no affiliation to any political party, religious organisation or sect.

Which is strange given that the patron of the group is Baroness Anelay of St Johns, the Tory Chief Whip and of the four MPs listed as official advisers they all happen to be Tories.

The good news is that list of advisers appears to have dramatically shrunk. Deborah Cameron and Richard McKendrick of drugs charity Addaction appear to have mysteriously disappeared. Which is a shame for poor old Debra because they were the one organisation who gave her any credibility.

We’ve been in touch with Addaction several times to ask what they are doing supporting a lying misfit and it seems they’ve finally realised just exactly what this group is. A self-promotion vehicle for Debra Bell who give distorted and hysterical information on cannabis and ignore any scientific facts which don’t back up her dubious claims.

Debra now includes a picture of herself on the front page, just so you know for sure that this is really all about HER.

Back to the list and the other missing persons appear to be the National Drugs Prevention Alliance, the senile old giffers who’ve been the mainstay of the UK prohibitionist movement for donkeys years.

One of them David Rayne is still featured on her front page however giving his distorted views on the recent ACMD review into cannabis. You might remember our David, he’s the former Customs Officer who resigned in disgrace after being accused of illegality and incompetance by a High Court Judge. David Rayne – made of fail.

Another bloke on her list who’s made of fail is Dr Ian Oliver. This muppet is an ex-cop who also resigned in disgrace after screwing up an enquiry into the murder of a child.

Also present and definitely made of fail are the Maranatha Community which kinda shatters their argument that they don’t have a link to a religious organisation.

The Maranatha Community are a bunch of fundie Christians who been accused of acting as a cult in the US. In the UK they’re more likely to be found actively promoting extreme homophobia and we’ll have a run down on them soon. In the meantime here’s a taster of their dodgy prejudice:

“Some of the media and much of the gay movement portray the LGB lifestyle as happy, healthy and fulfilled. However, the LGB lifestyle is associated with very high rates of sexual promiscuity, and a large number of very serious physical and emotional health consequences. It shows an unacceptable lack of compassion for individual people, and an unacceptably cavalier attitude to public health, to attempt to portray as normal or desirable, to encourage, or to seek to promote or facilitate in any way, LGB lifestyles.”

Dr. Hans-Christian Raabe is also listed as an advisor to Talking About Cannabis and is an active member of the Maranatha loons.

Back to Debra, they are planning to set up a Helpline which we are planning to have hours of fun with. More worryingly they are still wittering on about setting up Treatment Centres. Debra has no clinical experience, no counselling qualification and seems to think crystals are a legitimate form of treatment.

We reckon Debra thinks this will be a nice little earner and they’re still begging for donations on the site and claiming to have applied to become a charity. Which is funny because up until recently they were claiming to be a charity already!

And if they are successful in this application then we suppose that we’ll have to get back onto our mates at the Charity Commission and ask what they are doing giving recognition to an organisation that is clearly political in nature, a breach of Charity Law. In the meantime we’ll look forward to their first set of accounts which we’ll be scrutinizing very carefully.

Talking about cannabis … are they over?

All seems to have gone quiet over at talkingaboutcannabis.com which can only be a good thing.

The last update was almost a month ago when Debra was crowing about the proposed reclassification and threatening to set up treatment centres for kids who like a toke.  Why anyone would send their kid to a treatment centre run by a mad old harridan who thinks crystals will save the planet and has no clinical or therapeutic credentials is beyond us.  So if they go ahead then we’ll be there to help close ‘em down.

What’s more worrying is the fact that a woman who thinks crystals will save the planet seems to have more influence on the government’s drug policy than a team of scientists.

Our faithful but clunky google news alert hasn’t picked up any sign of Debra’s inane ranting in the right wing press for weeks now, so here’s hoping that Debra is officially yesterday’s news and this whole sorry saga can come to an end.

In fact Debs we’ll make a deal … if you stop talking about cannabis then we’ll stop ripping the piss out of you.  And you can take that daft website down as well – it’s over Debra, deal with it.

Carry on and we won’t rest until your entire organisation comes crashing down and you are finally exposed to the public ridicule and humiliation you so deeply deserve.

So folks, thanks for all the tip offs but lets leave them to die in peace.

As for Europe Against Drugs (EURAD).

We’re coming for ya!
