The Nastiest Shambles Yet, Quarter Of A Million People Awaiting New Disability Benefit Decision

atos-professionalsPersonal Independence Payments (PIP) have lurched even further into chaos with over quarter of a million people waiting months on end for a decision on the new benefit.

PIP is Iain Duncan Smith’s replacement for Disability Living Allowance, the benefit paid to many disabled people to meet costs associated with mobility or care.  The new system launched for new claims in April last year and means sick and disabled people will be forced to attend demeaning and stressful assessments carried out by the notorious Atos and bungling Capita.  The purpose of these assessments is to strip benefits from a fifth of disabled people.

335,000 people have claimed the new benefit since it began last year, but appallingly only just over 80,000  have had a decision made on their claim.  Some people have been waiting for months.  In August last year 95,500 people had claimed Personal Independence Payments meaning that the wait for some has been around eight months and counting.

For people on low incomes this wait will be devastating.  Many PIP claimants will be newly disabled, or will have faced an existing health condition becoming significantly worse.  Some will simply not have the money to pay for care or mobility until the DWP can get their act together.  This delay will mean people trapped in their homes, or going without vital care at a time in their lives when they’ve really got better fucking things to be dealing with.

Atos recently pulled out of similar assessments for out of work sickness and disability assessments and know only too well that most medical professionals are far to ethical to involve themselves in grubby benefit tests that harm people’s health.  It is possible that much of the shambles is down to a failure to recruit enough healthcare professionals who have no desire to be part of Iain Duncan Smith’s horrifying attempt at destroying disabled people’s lives.

Whatever the cause the disaster that PIP has become shows just how much the safety net of the welfare state is being swept away by a combination of callousness and incompetence.  If you become sick or disabled, and need the help you’ve already paid for to live an independent life, then expect to strung along for months and treated like dirt by the DWP.

“DWP SERVES DEATH WARRANTS ON 265,000 DISABLED”

THE FACT THAT 265,000 DISABLED PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LEFT IN LIMBO BY THE PIP SHAMBLES IS NO OVERSIGHT OR MERE ERROR, IT HAS BEEN ENGINEERED TO DO AS MUCH HARM AS POSSIBLE………………….

IT IS ALL PART OF A GIANT PLAN CONCOCTED BY THE DWP, WHO, AFTER LENGTHY TALKS WITH MEMBERS OF THE UNUM INSURANCE INDUSTRY, DECIDED TO IMPLEMENT CUTS TO THOSE POSING THE LEAST RESISTANCE, THE DISABLED.

FAIR, IT IS NOT, CORPORATE MANSLAUGHTER, IT DEFINITELY IS………….

REMOVING SOMEONES LIFELINE IS NO DIFFERENT TO MURDERING THEM. IT ACHIEVES THE SAME GOAL EVENTUALLY, BUT THE ELEMENT OF CRUELTY ADDS ANOTHER TWIST.

SINCE WHEN HAS IT BEEN APPROPRIATE TO SANCTION SOMEBODY THAT NOT ONLY ENDANGERS THEIR LIFE BUT CAN ALSO TAKE IT AWAY?

SERWOTKAS NAZI STORMTROOPERS IN THE PCS UNION HAVE TAKEN ON THE ROLE OF GOD, BEING ABLE TO DISTINGUISH WHO MUST LIVE OR WHO MUST DIE.
I THOUGHT THE ROLE OF THE WELFARE STATE WAS TO HELP THOSE IN NEED,NOT EXTERMINATE THEM.

THE PCS MEMBERS PASSED AN OVERWHELMING RESOLUTION AT THEIR CONFERENCE THAT SANCTIONS WOULD HAVE TO STOP, YET THEY IDLY SIT BACK AND HELP THE HIDDEN MORTALITY RATES HIT NEW HIGH’S.

THESE ARE NOT NORMAL HUMAN BEINGS IN THE SENSE WE KNOW, THEY HAVE BECOME IMMUNE TO THE EVIL THEY HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO DISH OUT ON A DAILY BASIS.

“A UNION IS ONLY AS STRONG AS IT’S LEADER, SERWOTKA IS AS WEAK AS PISS, A PATSY HIDING BEHIND A POSITION OF POWER LOOKING FORWARD TO A KNIGHTHOOD BUILT UPON THOSE HE PUT IN THE GROUND”

    • Don’t forget Capita sell on your assessment to Atos before they forward it to the DWP. Both scumbag outfits get a hefty slice of taxpayers’ money.

  4. I agree with everything you’ve written here, except for one thing: I finally received my dreaded brown envelope from the DWP today. I received Enhanced rate for both Daily Living and Mobility, and they backdated it to the date I requested the form (April, 2013). I’ve already received the money. It is an absolute godsend, as after my experiences with DLA (horrid assessment, turned down, went to tribunal, 9 months living off friends before I got the money), I was expecting the worst. I procrastinated massively about getting the form back to them (my mental health condition causes me severe problems with anxiety), and only had my assessment in early May, 2014. The assessment itself was far better than the WCA for DLA and ESA. Also, I have a part-time job, and that doesn’t appear to have affected my claim (although I work from home 90% of the time). I’m in the East of England, if that helps…. So, pleasantly surprised, in my case, but from the statistics, it appears that my case may be anomalous….

    • I think to be fair not every case is a horror story and after the DLA debacle they couldn’t realistically get any worse. The inherent problem is largely public perception and tarring everyone with the same brush; for example I could name/shame several individuals who spend the majority of their disability in a Wetherspoon’s each day/every day. They clearly are able bodied and capable of doing something. Is it any wonder that some would argue their taxes are funding scroungers; in these cases obviously not. But the problem is how can the DWP differentiate between the genuinely needy and those taking the piss?

      • “The inherent problem is largely public perception and tarring everyone with the same brush;”

No, the inherent problem is the feral media which is owned by a pathologically greedy and heartless ruling elite that wants social security completely abolished, has free rein to print and broadcast right-wing propaganda that lies, exaggerates, presents information out of context, presents rare exceptions as the norm and demonises, duhumanises and scapegoats the sick and disabled on a daily basis, to further their extremist right-wing agenda.

“for example I could name/shame several individuals who spend the majority of their disability in a Wetherspoon’s each day/every day. They clearly are able bodied and capable of doing something.”

How do you know these people spend the majority of their ‘disability’ in Wetherspoons every day, unless you are also there at the same time every day? Do you follow them and spy on them like a peeping Tom every day, with a pair of binoculars wearing a fake moustache and sunglasses? Or do they just voluntarily come and tell you how they spend their ‘disability’? Why do they trust you enough to tell you? Why don’t you report them to the authorities, or do you condone criminal activity? Do you dine with them at Wetherspoons? Do you associate with benefit fraudsters? If so, why do you associate with self-confessed criminals, if you’re a “hard working taxpayer who does the right thing”™? Or are you just a fucking liar?

Your story is laughably implausible, desperate, pathetic, bullshit, concocted in an attempt to justify the exceptional cruelty of your party deliberately leaving the sick and disabled without any money. You should be ashamed of yourself, but of course you’re not, because Tories like sociopaths don’t have any shame whatsoever.

“But the problem is how can the DWP differentiate between the genuinely needy and those taking the piss?”

Deserving and undeserving poor reheated with a dash of nauseating fake concern. You are as transparent as you are despicable. The actual fraud rate is miniscule. You are just another disgusting little Tory troll that is happy to see the humiliation, destitution and destruction of the sick and disabled and the destruction of the welfare state.

        • Before I got my part-time job, I spent a large amount of my time on a sofa at my local. I rarely drank alcohol, but sometimes I did. I was incredibly isolated, unable to go very far, with few friends because I couldn’t get out to meet people. I was lonely and depressed. I went to the pub because it was very close by, and at least there I was around people. At times I did drink a lot, because I was horribly depressed, and drinking was an escape, as it is for many non-disabled people.

I still go to the pub occasionally, to attend a regular pub night with friends, or to meet up with friends. The pub is fairly close to my house, and my friends and the staff know about my disabilities and make sure that I get the most comfortable sofa, etc. Often it is the only time I see people in a week, apart from my one work meeting. Many of my friends buy me a drink here and there, or help me to buy dinner, because I’ve been too poor to do so on my own.

My disabilities are very variable. About 75% of the time I can’t make it out because my pain or mental health problems are too bad. The times I do make it are my good days. If you didn’t know me, you’d assume that I’m always having a good day, because you don’t see me when I’m unable to leave the house, or my bed, or when I’m having a crisis and can’t even take care of myself.

I’m always in pain, always dealing with my mental health issues, but when I can get out, I try my hardest not to show it and to act like a “normal” person. Partly this is because I want to be treated like a normal person as much as possible, and people don’t generally treat you like a normal person, or even want to get to know you, if you’re always talking about or letting your problems show. Partly it’s because my disabilities are chronic conditions, and after a while you learn that the more “normal” you act, even if you don’t feel it underneath, the less you focus on them, and the easier it is to get on with life.

Don’t presume that you know what’s going on in the lives or bodies/minds of disabled people. You have no idea unless you know them very well.

        • “Deserving and undeserving poor reheated with a dash of nauseating fake concern. You are as transparent as you are despicable. The actual fraud rate is miniscule. You are just another disgusting little Tory troll that is happy to see the humiliation, destitution and destruction of the sick and disabled and the destruction of the welfare state.”

I salute you sir! That’s the way to send these Tory creeps packing. Well said R34. You described this moron to a T with the whole fake concern bit they add in to try to make themselves sound legit.

          Utterly nauseating they are indeed.

          great response my friend

    • Ah. Yesterday (the 7th) I got my application form back w/ a letter stating that I hadn’t signed it, and it needed to be signed and returned by the 19th of June, or I wouldn’t be eligible for PIP. I kicked myself for such an idiotic oversight, wondered how they’d made the decision anyway, and flipped to the signature page… To find that I had signed and dated it. Properly. WTF? I checked my bank account. The back payment that was supposed to have been credited to me on the 5th is nowhere to be found. Now I’m on tenterhooks, wondering what’s going on, and if I haven’t *actually* been granted PIP. Also, I spent £30 that I wouldn’t have spent this weekend (taxi to and from a friend’s house, a take away, and a beer) because I thought I was safe and could celebrate. Now I’m left with £61 to live on (and care for my cat) until sometime after the 19th…. Or possibly never. Argh! So anxious and stressed out now!

  5. “The Nastiest Shambles Yet”

“Paul on the Coming collapse of the dollar & all fiat currencies: Officials in charge of monetary policy are very aware of what’s coming- they believe as long as it is orderly they will be ok…The problem is when people lose confidence in a currency, they lose confidence completely. There’s nothing orderly about it! There’s always a panic, and that’s hard to manage. There will be a day when people will panic in the financial markets, not only in the dollar, but in the world-wide system!”

    http://www.silverdoctors.com/ron-paul-nothing-orderly-about-the-currency-collapse-thats-coming-it-will-be-a-panic/

I will say it once again…..It was planned to be this way decades ago!.

    • Ron Paul, disciple of Friederich Hayek, Ludvig von Mises and Ayn Rand. Claims to be a ‘libertarian’ however it means something very different in the USA and it basically means ultra-conservative, and a proponent of neo-liberal economics. The Ayn Rand connection should give a slight clue that this guy is a dangerous nutcase.

  6. And again, thousands of people suffer for the incompetence of IDS. When the hell is he going to be sacked?

  7. Reblogged this on Jay's Journal and commented:
    The suffering gets worse…

  8. Landless Peasant

They certainly are “The Nastiest Shambles Yet”. This is the worst and nastiest Government I’ve ever known anyway, and I’m the wrong side of 50. If this was America I think there’d be an armed uprising/Civil War but if we did that here we’d get immediately slaughtered/arrested in no time, and we don’t even have right to bear arms in England. I can still remember how to make those bamboo cane throwing arrows we made as kids though! Talk about David and Goliath.

    • Things are as bad in the USA, and perhaps even a little worse, but as yet not an armed uprising or a civil war.

Can’t say that it won’t happen though – but I think people organising in grass roots worker organised unions like the IWW would achieve more for the loss of a lot less blood.

      • As you’ve previously said, at best, all that would achieve is concessions from the system, which they would eventually take back.

Given that the United Snakes Of America was founded on the ideology of white supremacy and white supremacy remains its prevailing ideology, with its people indoctrinated with it from birth, if there was any kind of uprising or civil war, the end result would mostly likely resemble Nazi Germany.

  9. When the purpose of a change in delivery of disability benefit is based on reducing numbers then the worst will happen and people who are entitled to the benefit will find it difficult or impossible to get. You can’t base these benefits on projected savings, there can be no mechanism that makes that work without causing harm. Another issue with this is that DLA is still operational in many parts of the country and you can’t request to be assessed under the new PIP criteria even if you wanted to be. Many are actually losing out as they might be entitled to a higher rate as the PIP descriptors give more weight to fluctuating conditions and some on low rate DLA would be entitled to standard rate PIP which is £30 per week more. Another fine mess from the department of fun.

    • Any relevant change of circumstances notified by someone currently in receipt of DLA will result in them immediately being forced to claim PIP. It isn’t just new claims that are being buggered up by PIP. There is no chance of requesting to be assessed under PIP for many, it’s a case of being coerced into it, with destitution as a possible alternative to saying “no thank you, I’d like to stay on DLA”

      • A change of circumstances may be a change of address, a change in GP, death of a partner, or other things not associated with the actual medical aspect of a claim. This can also cover getting worse (as the post above says), where those affected have actually stayed on the lower rates of DLA rather than face this scandalous system, and the all too probable stripping of all benefits, rather than an increase.

        • florence
the way i put it all into perspective is to realize that it all grew out of JSA…where the blame for the no fcuking jobs predicament has slowly and surely been dumped on the claimant….PIP is a branch of the JSA tree..JSA should be seen for the fraud it is and scrapped…in the last 35yrs over 30% of the uk’s industrial productivity has been stripped out of our economy…thatchers lunatic trickle down affect, the reality of which meant that wealth was/is always going to be sucked away from the working classes, never to be seen again…we are left hamstrung, with no effective way of reversing the downward spiral of working class income, we are now in….scraps from the table of the rich is all we will get under this current system….sturgeon said recently that the purpose of PIP is obvious, it is to bounce people off of benefits…the british working class in the main no longer figure in their estimations, we are no longer required…the establishment have spent over a trillion pounds in 35yrs reeking/wreaking savage revenge, on the working classes….all to benefit the phew, who think it is they who are entitled… they tried to create a dog eat dog culture, where we fight to serve….we are still here, fighting them, we will not serve them…we will serve each other and in so doing ourselves…how many more billions will they spend and waste trying to crush our humanity, when will sanity finally prevail?

          • OBD – yes, I agree with all you said, and more. Some of my worst arthritis is in a knee injured while running alongside the she-devils merc down horseguards with the Japanese PM with her, letting her know what I thought of her policies.

Ah the good old days, eh?

  10. Those who rule us have never changed.

    Henry VIII

“According to Holinshed, who wrote 25 years after Henry’s death, 72, 000 thieves and vagabonds were hanged during his reign. It is over 2 per cent of the 2,800,000 inhabitants of England, which equals the proportion of the 6, 000,000 Jews exterminated by Hitler.”

    • “(1) Charles de Marillac was the French ambassador to England. In 1540 he wrote a letter to the King of France about Henry VIII.

Henry is so greedy that all the riches in the world would not satisfy him… to make himself rich he has impoverished his people. This King…. does not trust a single man… and will not cease to dip his hand in blood as long as he doubts the people.

      (2) In 1540, Robert Hilles, an English merchant, wrote to a friend in Europe while he was visiting Frankfurt Fair in Germany.

It is no novelty among us to see men slain, hung, quartered, beheaded… for comments that were… interpreted as having been spoken against King Henry.

      (3) Sir Thomas More, Henry VIII’s Lord Chancellor, in conversation with his son-in-law, William Roper (1525)

I believe he (Henry VII) favours me more than any other subject in England… However… I have no cause to be proud, for if my head could win him a castle in France it should not fail to go.

      (4) Henry VIII, orders given to the Duke of Norfolk about what should happen to those who took part in the Pilgrimage of Grace (January, 1537)

Cause such dreadful executions upon a good number of the inhabitants hanging them on trees, quartering them, and setting the quarters in every town, as shall be a fearful warning.”

      • By the way, Prince Charles thinks that Henry VIII was one of the greatest Kings that ever ruled, what does that tell you!.

        • “Prince Charles accused of ‘dodging around for tax purposes’”

          http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013/jul/15/prince-charles-tax-duchy-cornwall

        • That perhaps he isn’t quite the sharpest tool in the box…

        • Well, according to Guy Dubord’s Cat, in a very erudite blog post regarding Fascism and the aristocracy (still with us) is this gem:-

“As for Hitler, the Fuhrer was an admirer of the aristocracy, of whom he made it very clear that he was definitely not going to expropriate them. He was similarly an admirer of the British aristocracy, and the Nazi elite schools, the Ordensburgen, were intended to be the new, Nazi equivalent of elite private schools like Eton. Given this aspect of Nazi ideology, it is perhaps no accident that Baldur von Schirach’s predecessor as head of the Hitler Youth eventually ended up as the headmaster of Gordonstoun, Prince Charles’ old alma mater.”

I leave you to join the dots. It always sickens me to see the Royals with their chests clanking with “medals” given from Mummy for being, er, born, swanning around in front of the REAL heros of the fight against fascism. Those who fought the fascists to gain the Welfare State, taken from the cold dead hands of the same aristos.

  11. whats getting overlooked here is everyone’s grandparents and parents have worked and payed into this system , most of them never had a day off in their life the funds should be piled high to pay for the next two generations regardless if they worked a day in their life or not . , so obviously our money is not being invested right , so where is it all going ? why should we take the blame for the errors ? The MPs who are handing all this excrement out to us all have private medical insurance paying them full wages for life , private health care , best treatment in a private room with a silk dressing gown . Imagine their faces if when they turn ill they get a letter saying in the small print they are only to get paid £71 a week then taken to their room and find a pair of overalls and boots on their bed with an Atos Nurse smacking them around the head screaming LIES , LIES , You can work , you can flush the toilet so its a toilet flushing job for YOU !! shoved into a job that they cannot do on health grounds then end up on the sick again , all that aggravation to save with a basic rate, . , then letter after letter ,saying they need more proof of their illness or their bank account will be frozen , constantly worried if the rents going to get paid on time , then sanctioned for being too ill to make it to the medical , then evicted , and lay in the street , too ill to move . All rights removed , legal aid abolished conveniently before the sanctions started so no one can be sued , A perfect situation for the rich to treat the poor how ever they like .They can all smirk about this because it will never happen to them , they dont know what its like to have no money and home in a land that has illegal camping laws , but look on the bright side , once homeless , ill and had your benefits stripped from you , you can enjoy watching them confiscate your tent and expensive life saving camping equipment off you, what a caring society we live in run by savages in suits . everyone is voting to be kicked in the teeth with their hands tied .

  12. There was a time when investigative reporters would have crucified this atrocious government for its cruelty and wickedness in every paper. But now, after years of remorselessly dripping words of hate about any and all benefit claimants, vilifying all such people as “scroungers” and such like, horrors like the one described in this article can go on remorselessly with no one being taken to task.

Iain Duncan Smith, David Freud and Esther McVey would never, ever, in a million years have ever been able to get away with things like this five or ten years ago. I am ashamed of British journalism and our media for allowing such evil to go on unchallenged. It is a national disgrace.

    • They are the same ting.
what do you want me to say. and for how much master .
And will i bee freed wwhen i lie.

  13. Plenty of people with a terminal diagnosis are being left without PIP (or DLA) because of the gargantuan backlog of assessments. What a helpful and fun distraction from impending death this despicable toxic crap from the DWP must be to those souls eh?

Macmillan and Marie Curie have both made mealy mouthed statements/complaints about this state of affairs, but as usual, they say nothing that might damage the level of donations they receive.

  14. The ONLY reason that the Master-of-Insincerity Tommy Sheridan is pro-independence is because he believes it will afford himself an opportunity to re-establish himself on the Scottish political scene. Don’t be fooled by Tommy’s faux concern for the poor and downtrodden; he says the right words but at the end of the day all that Tommy and his over-inflated ego are interested in is Tommy himself and the pursuit of his own agenda. It’s not just Tommy’s sun-tan that is fake!

    • Well said, Rosie. Tommy knows full well that the troupe of failed laywers Alex ‘fat fascist’ Salmon, Nicola ‘non-entity’ Sturgeon and Kenny ‘bawbag’ Kenny MacAskill are amongst the most HATED people in Scotland. That is why he keeps trying to shift the focus of debate by saying over and over again that “a vote for independence is not a vote for the SNP, it is about the future of Scotland”. Oh, yes and the “weans”. There is NO “solidarity” where convicted criminal and perjurer Tommy Sheridan is concerned.

      • c fox..
listen to the passionate speech colin fox made on a cold wet monday night in ayr…3/3/14..scottish socialist party (packed to the rafters) public meeting in….supporting the case for scottish indy..its a must see speech, its on youtube…IT IS NOT ABOUT THE SNP…

      • Hi Rosie Kane, C Fox,

How you doing these day’s ?, do you two still see much of you new best friend Rupert Murdoch ?, I know he think’s the world of you two, come to think about it, he REALLY likes everyone in the SSP,I wonder why that would be…LOL.

          • annos
i can say that the ref is taken very seriously here, there are packed meetings every night of the week, hundreds of grassroots groups have sprung up over night…the passion for debate the like that has never been seen before……#yesindy et al, is driven by people that have never ever been involved in politics in their lives….it is a stunning sight to behold….nothing will ever be the same again in scottish politics…the common weal, the jimmy reid foundation is at the core of consensus…the structure of scottish politics post yes is unknowable, it is a completely new book that is being written…we will have a constitution written by the people….indy day is 24 3 16, we also get to vote in the uk 2015 elections…uk politics is definitely surging to the right…the sense of entitlement of the right is massive….look see
            http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/jun/07/ukip-issues-fresh-demand-to-be-given-more-peers-in-parliament?CMP=twt_gu

            • overburdenddonkey,

I am really sorry to tell you this, scottish independence will mean VERY little to the working class person in Scotland, Fox and the rest of the leadership of the SSP have sold out the working class!, when they turned on Tommy Sheridan it was LONG before all the troubles that were to come (were known about).

Those in the SSP KNEW when they turned on Sheridan it would end up destroying the SSP, you have to ask yourself WHY did they do it, it made no sense!, I tell you other things were in play.

As for the SNP, when it first started up it was a FIRM left of centre party, more left then centre, it had true ideals, as the SNP gained in popularity and votes the carpetbaggers who were looking for nothing more then lucrative opportunities to further their own self-enrichment joined and worked their up the ladder to gain control of the SNP (just like what happened to the Labour party) you need NOTHING more to illustrate this then when the SNP voted to stay a member of NATO, yes they say Trident will go, will it, they are now saying it will take at least three years after independence to get rid of Trident, what does this tell you ?, it tells me all is lost as to things will get better for scottish people if they gain their independence!. Still, what does it matter as to what you and I think, time will tell…..

        • ………
I doubt these two are the politicians with similar or same names from the Scottish Socialist Party (SSP).
Colin Fox is still going strong defending Independence for Scotland, and was on the wireless, Friday in Inverness doing just that. Dunno what ever became of Rosie Kane though.
I have posted a response to these two abovecomments on the other Post here below
DWP BEGS CHARITIES TO COLLABORATE IN CRUELTY form May 31st .
They posted on there today earlier. I will not repeat all my comment here as it is all there!
However I will say, that Tommy Sheridan has always been for Independence, as has the SSP. That is nothing new.
Alex Salmod, the Scottish First Minister is not and never has been “fascist” and is certainly not “the most hated politicians n Scotland”.
I will ad here though,t hat Colin Fox the SSP one that is, has never called Salmond “fascist”. Just so you know the above is not the ppl from SSP.The rest is found in the earlier Post.

          • I was going to say the same thing. That will not be Rosie Kane and Colin Fox, the real people, who wrote those comments.

More likely someone trying to de-motivate potential YES voters.

            It will not work.

If Scotland votes NO, and spurns this opportunity, then we can easily be landed with years and years of more Tory rule with everything that go’s with it for the WC.

YES on September 18th, or you will regret it.

  15. Was one of the first (if not the first) to man the vigil outside the Old Royal High School, was mostly joined by the unemployed and homeless people.

The Scots political glitterati were noticeable by their absence and mostly hostile to devolution and by extension Independence, most of the socialist named above are late adopters of Scots independence.

  16. Another Fine Mess

    Saturday night viewing.
A repeat of the Public Accounts Committee featuring Margaret Hodge and John Manzoni from the Major Projects Authority is showing on the Parliament channel at 10:40pm, if anyone’s desperate.
Looking like UC is getting at least partially kicked into the long grass.

I heard she lost her DLA after an having an Atos assessment, she suffers from depression.

    • Thats a pity. Don’t wish Kane any harm. But I was as you were disapointed the way they turrned on Sheridan.
One thng I do know about Rosie Kane is that she has suffered greatly from depression, even when she ws an MSP, the girl had depression. So that is nothing new for her. Obviously ATOS wouldn’t care about any of that.

      • As much as I dislike Rosie Kane like you I wish her no harm. I hope in time she gets well.

          Hi Geoff
Was a witness to hearing a guy withlearning disabilities being sanctioned. I heard the conversation. I saw the guy at the beginning of the week and it was very clear to me that he had learningdifficulties. He clearly did not understand what they meant and they sanctioned him. What kind of support do they have .

…………………PERSECUTING SOMEONE WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES, PROBABLY THE LOWEST ONE COULD EVER GET……………………….

This guy maybe had learning difficulties, so why take away the only thing he needed to exist, his benefits.

THE PCS UNION HAVE TAKEN ON THE ROLE OF GOD, DETERMINING THAT THIS POOR SOUL HAS NO PLACE IN THIS WORLD AND SHOULD BE ERADICATED……..

“THE STENCH OF DEATH COMING FROM SERWOTKA’S ARMY OF THE DAMNED, INCREASES EACH DAY”

  18. Anyone with a learning disabilities should be granted support ESA – no questions asked. Before the Tory scum came into power such a condition would automatically qualify for Incapacity Benefit.

    • widswimmer
it should all be scrapped, as it is highly damaging to human integrity (self-esteem)….see work of the jimmy reid foundation for a brand new economic model, that works for all…end the politics of last person standing is the winner….

    • Steve Crawley

yes, but everybody including those who have died could get better with a little more help – so the government believes

      • steve
the best way to help people is to get off theirs backs, take their imposing pressure/weight off, so that people are not stifled/suffocated…then people help themselves..in the mean time pay benefits at a much higher rate than they are now….this will guarantee better outcomes…the trouble it that we have been brainwashed into thinking, that they know what’s best for us, that we are not good enough to know our own massive and beautiful minds…they want to be in charge, the only reason they do as they do, is for POWER over others….

My partner has just got a decision and thankfully been awarded PIP after a wait of 44 weeks, 10 fucking months. In that time, we have been pushed to the brink. Selling everything just to pay the bills and getting behind on the rent. Just think before IDS brought this totally fucked scheme in, if a DLA claim to over 6 weeks you were very unlucky. IDS is not incompetent as some claim. He was specifically put in his job to fuck as much up as humanly possible and take the flack off of Cameron and Gideon.

  20. I couldn’t agree more with you G, the problem lies with the dwp who write people that they cannot find jobs for off jsa and force them onto the sick, so perhaps you had better get onto your local benefits office and tell them to stop signing people off jsa because they are making them sick!

    • f
now lets try to make sense of what you posted…
“I couldn’t agree more with you G, the problem lies with the dwp who write, people that they cannot find jobs and are on jsa, off….to force them onto the sick….so perhaps you had better get onto your local benefits office and tell them to stop signing people off jsa because they are making them sick!”….sorry i’ve failed, as what you have written is such complete and utterly, ignorant, poorly researched, nonsense…i will also note, to the 2nd part of your statement, and ignore the semantic collision caused by its 1st part…i’ll get onto the lancet and let them know about your amazing discovery, and that they can now, close and board up all health care facilities…coz being on jsa (work), cures sickness and disability, and saves billions of £’s….

“BIASED SUPERMARKET JUSTICE FROM THE DWP”

HAVING READ ARTICLE SIX, SECTION ONE OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS ACT, I AM IN NO DOUBT THAT OUR GOVERNMENT, ESPECIALLY THE DWP, BREACH THE MEANING OF THIS LAW, AT EVERY CHANCE……………

    Article 6 reads as follows.
“ 1.In the determination of his civil rights and obligations or of any criminal charge against him, everyone is entitled to a fair and public hearing within a reasonable time by an independent and impartial tribunal established by law. Judgment shall be pronounced publicly but the press and public may be excluded from all or part of the trial in the interest of morals, public order or national security in a democratic society, where the interests of juveniles or the protection of the private life of the parties so require, or the extent strictly necessary in the opinion of the court in special circumstances where publicity would prejudice the interests of justice.

    AFTER COMPLAINING THAT A JUDGE REFUSED TO STEP DOWN FROM MY ESA TRIBUNAL (RECUSAL DUE TO BIAS), I WAS SENT THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION FROM THE HM COURTS AND TRIBUNALS SERVICE;

” Many judges will see the same customers over and over again, but that does not disqualify them. It is for the tribunal judge to decide, in the exercise of his power to regulate procedure………………….

TO PUT THIS IN A NUTSHELL, WHEN APPEARING AT A TRIBUNAL IN SCARBOROUGH FOR ESA, I WAS CONFRONTED BY THE SAME JUDGE AND HIS SIDEKICK DOCTOR WHO HAD REMOVED MY DISABILITY LIVING ALLOWANCE SOME WEEKS EARLIER.

FROM THE ONSET I DECLARED THAT I WOULD NOT BE JUDGED BY HIM AS THERE WAS A STRONG POSSIBILITY OF BIAS, WHICH THERE WAS.
CONSEQUENTLY, I WALKED OUT IN DISGUST, AFTER THE JUDGE DECIDED THE CASE WOULD CONTINUE IN MY ABSENCE.
THE SYSTEM IS NEITHER, INDEPENDENT, FAIR OR IMPARTIAL, THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS CROOKED.

I HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD MY BENEFITS REMOVED BY THIS JUDGE AND HAD INFORMED HIM THAT I WAS LIVING FROM HAND TO MOUTH EXISTING ON £32.30 PER WEEK SINCE LAST JULY.

YOU ARE BEING DEALT SUPERMARKET JUSTICE BY THE SAME OLD FACES THAT ARE FILLING THEIR POCKETS ON THE MISERY THEY DISH OUT ON A DAILY BASIS.

  25. I really, really hope that Scotland becomes independent. For the past 30 years I have been studying what could be called the break up of Britain, and it’s hopefully a process that is rapidly seeing the earliest parts of England’s empire seceeding. Scotland becoming independent might even impact on the move towards Welsh indpendence, which is currently at a low ebb with only about 10% of the electorate in favour – but who knows, maybe Scotland finding the confidence to go it alone might have a positive effect on the people of Wales. Maybe Wales, England’s first colony will be the last to leave, but I hope it happens.

England too badly needs change, and maybe Scottish independence will bring benefits there too, and stiumlate a debate, and more importantly action to create a fairer society there too.

  26. g
the prime symptom of a frozen infantile mind, is when, as you do, tell others to grow up, therefore projecting your own wishful thinking, that you would like to be able to grow up…growing up is seeing things for what/as they actually are…so are you going to grow up and stop misdirecting your pent up rage…we don’t cause your victimhood, your powerlessness and victimhood is caused by the system, that you by implication defend and are too afraid to tackle…

  27. G

Obviously striving has not set you free from your self loathing.

  28. Wow. I can only hope that the people you care about are never affected by a mental illness, because with someone like you in their lives, it’d be so much harder to recover. I’m tempted to say that I hope that you develop a mental illness, because then you’d understand how wrong you are, but I’d never wish this hell on anyone.

I first developed mental illness around the age of 13, partly due to abuse and neglect. In the 26 years since then, I’ve had to take 9 years off work and school because I was so ill. For 6.5 years of that I used my savings, my retirement savings, and my parents’ generosity to live, until all that ran out after I became physically disabled. I’ve almost died. I’ve been on 14 different psychiatric meds, and have had (and mostly paid for out of my own pocket) about 8.5 years of therapy. The costs to me (time, massive amounts of money, relationships, friendships, my PhD, med side-effects like acute liver failure, etc.) have been huge.

Despite all this, I have two degrees in physics from one of the top universities in the world. I was 2/3 of the way through a PhD at another top university when I became physically disabled, so unfortunately I lost my place there. I worked as a research scientist for a government defense agency for 5.5 years, and at various other jobs. I have a number of published papers. Right now I’m working in infectious disease at another world-reknowned university.

After my physical disability became somewhat better and I’d adjusted to it, I could easily have stayed off work and on benefits, but I desperately wanted to go back. Even though I knew that I’d be financially worse-off in work, and that the stress of working would make my disabilities worse, I wanted to support myself again, and do something useful. I only applied for disability benefits again because I was so poor that I could no longer afford enough food to maintain my weight (a part-time research job really doesn’t pay well).

So tell me: have you accomplished anything close to what I have? Have you done so while constantly struggling with physical and mental health problems? Yeah, didn’t think so. But I’m a lazy scrounger. Riiiight.

    @ G

Allow me to explain. There has to be more Workers than Jobs, otherwise Capitalism ceases to be. Unemployment will always exist. No government yet has or ever will eradicate unemployment. Therefore there will, for whatever individuals reasons, always be people whose status is Unemployed. Some of them may be Sick or Disabled, others are unemployable for a variety of reasons. The State has on obligation to adequately provide for its citizens. The State has this obligation because it claimed the majority of Common Land, and embarked upon a long-term experiment in mass social engineering, the result of which finds us now dwelling in obsolete, redundant, towns & cities with no Industry and no jobs. The Agricultural Revolution and the Industrial Revolution are long since over, and now those who profited from generations of our Labour have a duty to enable us to function in the Society of their creating. OR they could alter Society so that it caters for the oddballs and misfits that slip through the mainstream net, the square-pegs in round holes such as I, who might just need to be permitted the space, time, funds, equipment, transport, etc. necessary to develop what natural talents and abilities we may have and put them to use in a way that enables us to pay our way in life.

  30. f
you can’t even be bothered to give a representative reply, to my post…then you resort to a subjective, unrelated, ambiguous, personal/rude questioning of my means and/or state of health, that is simply none of your business…just who do you think you are…

  31. To use your own ad hominem modus operandi… you sir are a cunt.

  32. So true!

  33. I don’t mean people like you who at least make effort i’m talking about the norm, those who could work but are to ready to take the easy ride and suck off the state. There’s a hell of a lot of them and i know a lot of them
Your degree in physics is ok but ain’t exceptional, i’ve achieved a lot more than that FYI.

  34. That is something people don’t see, all this talk of people being workshy and better off on benefits is a load of brain washed ignorance , as time off work causes no way to save for a pension age ,cant work overtime , you lose experience , All these brain dead stereotypes who have been zapped by the media and gov hate incitement of the unemployed and sick don’t know what the hell they are talking about and they never will until the day comes that they themselves are confined to a room for a few years with mental health problems that prevent them wanting to go out . Only then will they open their eyes and minds to what the real world is all about .Its the classic tale of “Ime alright Jack ” , same as the ones in power who deal out all this torment , as they all have private pensions and best possible treatment with private medical insurance , so why should it bother them what happens to the less well off ? All this is made by people who have never been short of money or short of their false friends ,un short , they all dont know what they are saying or doing and thats why we are all in a mess .

  35. G – arrogant so-and-so, aren’t you? How well do you know the other posters on this blog? Answer – not at all.

  36. Oh yeah, ’cause I’m one of the “good” ones. I’ve got news for you. I’ve met about 60 people who have mental health problems so bad that cannot work, through my mental health service and various other ways. Of those people, I can only think of 1 who is “workshy”, the way you mean it. The rest of them dearly wish that they could work, and are struggling to get to the point that they can, although some of them will likely never be able to.

  37. You aren’t a very nice person, are you G. Unresolved conflicts that creates a tendency to project your self-hatred onto others is it?.

Extremely few people are happy to live on JSA or any other benefit, and whilst there may be a fraction of a percent who are genuinely ‘lazy’ I suspect it is more likely that the vast majority are just lacking in motivation, and a job that pays the mimumum wage that won’t even pay for rent council tax, untility bills and personal upkeep is hardly motivation. Even having said that, there have to be jobs there in the first place, and the truth is that there just aren’t.

This government’s and no doubt the next government’s agenda is to impose their sick ideology, it’s not about money, as we all now know: when £25 billion is squandered, we know it’s not about the money. If sanity prevailed and all benefits were scrapped and replaced with a Citizens Basic Income that wasm’t taken away when employment was gained, we’d see how many people would still choose not to work – and to start off with I’d expect there to be a few who didn’t find paid work, choose to contribute through doing voluntary work or start their own business. Most of that would most likely be because of the novelty value, but sooner or later the vast majority would want to contribute.

What the Establishment, (Tory/LibDem/Labour) don’t like about this idea is that it would empower all of us – unless jobs started to pay decent amounts we could legitimately hold back our labour, have the freedom to start consideration of other ways of living our lives that aren’t controlled by them. That’s what the politicians and intellectual pygmies like you just don’t get, you seem to want to pour out your vitriol on the poor and helpless whilst turing a blind eye towards the actions of those genuinely responsible – the Establishment, who have basically OKed the banks and the actions of the big corporations and the rich who don’t pay their share of the taxes.

  38. Landless Peasant

    @ G

What jobs are “the norm” going to do? Who will employ them? Will you? Then let’s have no more of your bigoted, ill-informed opinions.

  41. Another Fine Mess

    It failed.

  42. Ive thought about the harsh treatment to the unemployed and sick people for a wile now and it dont make sense as the whole budget for all only came to about 4% (was) of the pie chart of the social fund so the money isnt the problem like you say , So i put it down simply the abuse of the unemployed simply is a genuine dislike by all parties as they all sit quiet whilst the social cleansing continues. The way the working class was brainwashed into hating and blaming the sick and unemployed i thought was very fascist and un professional , But now my new theory seems to make sense of all the chaos and smoke screens and scape goats , and that is , its nothing to do with the unemployed , they are just shoved into the spot light to hide the fact that its all about forcing people into sanctions leads into evictions in order to repossess their homes (rob them ) to put money in the banks to cover the disasters . Just as it happens the sick and unemployed are cannon fodder and eviction of them too is inevitable .but another way to create housing for the migrant workers willing to work hard on the Great British Tax Farm . . all the lame workers though are fit only for the Atos butcher who are forcing people onto the homeless spikes . from the homeless spikes they get moved on , tent and sleeping bags confiscated regardless of their value due to ,, Illegal camping laws ,, from there they have no choice to face the new open cattle gate that leads straight into a private prison , more money off the tax payers back , a lot easier than paying social security less hassle but a lot more expensive , so smile at the medias papers as they . reap what they sow . One way of looking at it i suppose .

  43. astrons
the key to understanding what is going on now, is in understanding the affects of true inflation…

  44. Those homeless spikes might be of benefit. If they can find a flat piece of laminate board or similar lay it on top and they’ll have some nice insulation from the damp floor. Alternatively a roll mat or just some cardboard on top will make them useless.
