What if the whole workfare industry got together in one place?

(Can’t make it to London? Take part in the week of action where you are.)

On 2nd December, those driving forced labour for unemployed people on the government’s workfares schemes are getting together in one place for their annual conference. Be there too to show them that their days of vast profits for abusing the poorest people in the UK are numbered.

The workfare industry is already on the backfoot. The government’s flagship ‘Work Programme’ which promised to hand £5 billion to this sector – whose profits are wholly subsidised by public funds – has failed. The industry failed to meet even the minimum targets and tens of thousands have returned to the Jobcentre as the two year stint comes to an end.

Add to this arrests for fraud, consistent reports from jobseekers of the punitive and pointless measures these companies demand, and the immense public backlash against workfare – leading many of the big brands to withdraw from forced unpaid work.

ERSA, the trade body for the ‘welfare to work’ industry, have called their conference “Challenge and change in an evolving landscape”. Let’s make the scale of the challenge clear with fun and noise on the conference’s doorstep.

And in case you need more convincing, here’s a few good reasons you should come (in the form of a list of people who’ll be at [the conference] pushing their workfare agendas):  Read the rest of this entry »

  1. Marks and Spencers now sell low quality (tat) clothing under the guise of quality afforded by it’s hard won reputation over many decades. The quality is low but prices are high. They have made big profits over recent times with this scheming tactic, people trusting the brand. People are not stupid and get wise to these tricks. Now their reputation so hard fought is in tatters. Reputation once lost is very, very hard if even at all possible, to regain. All for a couple ot years of bumper profits.

Short termism is the phrase. Charities and retailers thinking of exploiting people should take note.

  2. Absolute brilliant idea.Cant be there [disabled], but re-blogged elsewhere. Good luck to all who attend..

  3. something survived...

Let’s hope the workfare people serving them put viagra in the drinks, the workfare company bosses clusterfuck then all get sexually transmitted diseases. Hate Atos and workfare…

  4. Landless Peasant

I know this is up in London and the cost of a Travelcard midweek to get in from this neck of the woods can be close on £20 which is a lot of dosh… But, if somehow you can get the dosh together to get in for this one, it’s worth the effort to let the bastards inside know what we think about them in no uncertain terms…

  10. ……… the secret state killing machine, the DWP, keep telling us that nothing is happening.

Indeed, it’s just a figment of our vivid imagination and scaremongery at its basis…………………………..

“IS THIS TRUE, MR DWP ASSASSIN?”
………are we all imagining this phenomenon that takes away lives as a result of your evil, twisted, heinous policies????

Could the increasing carnage not be linked to welfare reforms that old liz gave her royal assent to?

Whether you are firing a rifle from a book repository at a moving target on Elm Street or issuing a brown envelope of Euthanasia, murder is still murder, in whatever form it is administered……….

SWEEPING THE TRUTH UNDER THE CARPET AND BOLDLY PRETENDING TO BE IGNORANT OF THE FACTS THAT YOU HAVE DENIED IN SO MANY FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUESTS IS THE ACT OF A CRAVEN COWARD……………..

ACKNOWLEDGING THE ERROR OF YOUR WAYS MAY PROVE TO BE COSTLY, BUT FURTHER IGNORANCE WILL BE COSTLIER STILL AS THE LITIGATION MOUNTS AGAINST YOU…………

“TAKING BENEFITS IS ONE THING, TAKING LIVES IS ANOTHER”…………

PLAIN OLD MURDER, NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS

…………..as i see it, you only have one problem?

Who will take the wrap? Who will fall on their sword to enable the blame game to start while you try and distance yourselves even further from the truth?

  11. THERE SHOULD BE A CONCERTED PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION AGAINST THE QUEEN………………

SHE GAVE HER BACKING TO THIS “MURDER BY DECREE”.

IT’S ALRIGHT ALL THESE MONARCHIST TRYING TO SAY THAT SHE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT SHE WAS SIGNING, AND TRYING TO MAKE OUT THAT SHE WAS EXPECTED TO DO IT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

SHE SIGNED A SERIES OF LEGAL DOCUMENTS THAT TURNED OUT TO BE DEATH WARRANTS ADMINISTERED ON THE WEAKEST AND MOST VULNERABLE IN OUR SOCIETY.

THE LADYKILLER IS AT THE HEART OF ALL THIS EVIL THAT MANIFESTS ITSELF IN, ILL THOUGHT OUT LEGISLATION.

I WISH SOMEBODY WOULD START AN ONLINE PETITION FOR THE QUEEN TO REVOKE HER ROYAL ASSENT………………………..

  12. a mass demonstration outside Buckingham Palace would be most embarrassing for the Queen.
It would bring world focus on the evil acts perpetrated on her own subjects and force her to revoke her “Royal Assent” to the hated welfare reforms.

  13. ………LOTS OF BANNERS SAYING “KILLER QUEEN”, SHOULD DO THE TRICK………………….

  14. The tv wouldn’t show it so we are farting against the wind.. I mentioned the million mask march to a few people and they looked at me as if i was crazy… This was the next day.

  16. “LONG LIVE OUR NOBLE QUEEN”, for christ’s sake it’s about time the folks of this island pulled their heads out of their arses and realised what the royal family are……………..
The biggest bunch of freeloaders on the block!!!!

SHE COULD NOT GIVE 2 FUCKS IF YOU LIVED OR DIED, GIVING ROYAL ASSENT TO THE GOVERNMENT TO INSTITUTE THE BIGGEST THEFT FROM THE POOREST WAS A REFLECTION OF HER TRUE COLOURS.

    BLUE BLOOD, MY ARSE……….

YOU WON’T SEE HER OR HER ILK BEGGING IN A FOODBANK. FAR FROM IT, THE FOOD THEY THROW AWAY AT A STATE FUNCTION WOULD PROBABLY SUSTAIN A FAMILY FOR A YEAR.

SHE IS KEPT LIKE A QUEEN BEE, PROTECTED BY HER DRONES, THE PRIVILIGED ELITE, HER SOLDIERS………………………

THE HIVE WANTS A GOOD STOUT STICK PUSHING IN IT AND SHAKING ABOUT!
HONEY IS MONEY AND THEY THRIVE UPON IT AS WE STARVE, WAKE UP BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE……………
