The Tory Party’s Breathtaking Benefit Cap Lie

The Tory Party Press Office have resorted to bare-faced lies to defend the vicious Benefit Cap which could lead to 200,000 children becoming homeless.

In a tweet accompanied by the ludicrous graphic above, the Tories claimed that Labour voted “keep unlimited benefits for those who can work but don’t.”

The Tory press team are referring to the Benefit Cap which will mean many low income families are no longer able to live in many parts of London and other cities where rents are high. There was never any intention that the Benefit Cap was aimed at those who ‘can work but don’t’. Benefits were already capped at £71.70 plus Housing Benefits for single unemployed people without children or a health condition, whilst Housing Benefits had previously been capped at £250 for this group.

The Benefit Cap was precision-aimed at those who cannot work, whether through sickness, disability or because they are already working as parents, often with very young children. Even Iain Duncan Smith acknowledges that single parents with children not yet at school are unable to work in many cases. Many families affected by the cap are on ESA – the benefit for people who have been judged currently unable to work due to sickness or disability. Some single parents affected by the cap may even be working, only those with full time jobs are exempt.

The Benefit Cap made no difference to the pittance single parents receive in their pockets, but instead is intended to force them to move by cutting payments to landlords.

Families affected by this cap are now in limbo, dependent on Discretionary Housing Payments – which means their benefits haven’t actually been capped – but those payments will run out next year. The Benefit Cap has always been about the mass social cleansing of London and other more affluent areas and it is only just getting started.  None of the people about to have their lives destroyed are on mainstream unemployment benefits.  Most of them are young children, toddlers and babies.

  1. This is, of course, why Grant Green (or is it Michael Shapps?) was appointed chairman. If that man told me the sky was blue, I’d be nipping outside to check – and even then, I’d entertain doubts as to whether “blue” meant the same to him as it does to me.

But more broadly, the right have long understood that if they tell the truth, they’ll never get anywhere. They are obligate liars, just as cats are obligate carnivores.

    • Once they have socially cleansed London, I hope someone bombs the hell out of the rich still residing there and that includes parliament, from the air will do.

  2. Smash the System

The Conservative Party should be taken to task for misleading the public. I’m sure that proven habitual liar Iain Duncan Smith had something to do with this. Utter scum.

  3. Real time comments disabled yeah can’t have that pesky criticism can we ?

  4. Heads up, fantastic news!! The Work and Pensions Committee are to question IDS over his misuse of statistics on 9th of December. Great result from the petition set up at Change.org by Jayne Linney and Debbie Sayers, two disabled women who are sick of the constant lies and defamation of people receiving benefits from the DWP. Article in today’s Mirror.

  5. IDS will try and cancel he will pull another it isn’t ready stunt I hope they just tell him we don’t care that’s the date turn up or else.

  6. I got really pissed off with the debate in the commons about army personnel and the use of reservists………

The toffee nosed bastards who line the benches, have double barreled names and talk with a marble in their mouth are akin to same bastards of old………….

Sending people to their deaths from the safety of a leather bench in Westminster and hiding in purpose built bunkers at the mere crack of a rifle shot.

These arseholes who send our troops to the front line could’nt give a toss about the young men and women who sacrifice their lives on a daily basis. Indeed, when they come back injured, minus a limb or whatever, they are thrown into the hands of ATOS and have the benefits they require, denied.

When politicians and royalty are seen visiting our troops there is always an iron cordon around them. Usually the Ghurkas, who they treat like rotten meat and second class citizens………

Put a firework near any of the hooray henries in power and watch the backs of their heads disappearing over the hillside.

Furthermore, while MP’s are squabbling over their ill gotten expenses our troops are still going into combat ill equipped.

“Jolly good old chap”. WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS!

  8. Landless Peasant

Of course they’ve resorted to bare-faced lies, Tories don’t have morals, they’re all fucking Satanists.

  9. To be honest I can’t remember a nastier or more dishonest government and I’m 57! So my memory includes governments led by Macmillan, Wilson, Hume, Heath, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major, Blair and Brown. Out of all of the Prime Ministers and governments I can remember absolutely NONE have been as systemically dishonest and untruthful as this one. It is a very sad day that Britain’s political system should have ended up in such a sorry state with the country led by such a bunch of incompetents and liars.

  10. a sure sign theyre panicking when bare faced lies show up. GOOD.

  12. I`m well aware that the new benefit laws that this government are bringing in are just a war on the poor. They hate anyone who doesn`t come from a priviledged background.

    • IDS should be ashamed

That’s because people that do not come from a priviledged background will be the ones that eventually bring them down. So they desperately chop at the roots of revolution any way they can while they are still weak and vulnerable.

  13. Limitless benefits: That which is claimed by MPs via public money for bills, food, travel expenses etc, on top of their generous salary.

    Hypocritical parasites: See MPs

  14. This is the Tories making their new rich French immigrant chums feel right at home in London by creating their beloved Banlieue in the English capital, the sixth largest French city in the world.

    • anti-work programme

UJM is just one big sanction making machine. JSA agreements have in the ‘What I will do to identify and apply for jobs’ section that there is now an extra box marked up as ”Check my Universal Jobmatch account for jobs”

Using UJM and applying for jobs on there is now a requirement to satisfy your JSA agreement. Don’t let the JCP have a reason to sanction you if by failing to use UJM for job applications. I got screwed over with a four week sanction for not properly using UJM as required in my JSA agreement and also not for giving JCP any evidence of my UJM activity.

      • anti-work programme

        * and if UJM fucks up and doesn’t allow people to use it for jobs or writing up activity history, the JCP illegally uses this excuse to sanction as many people as they can.

      • That is true *and/but,
UJ is a (Default) requirement as presented on JSag:-
Unless, (only if) it is possible to show/demonstrate convincingly (“enough” – for them) that UJ is not (someone’s) preferred method to look for work = this could, or ‘may’ still be accepted & JSag re-agreed with ‘check UJ account/x times’ left blank. It IS “individual” (not same for everyone, as they like to remind) – so how it pans out might, partly at least, depend on what’s been said further back in time regarding UJ/adviser & conversations on job search methods.

There’s a separate (but same end result) set of risks in attempting to stay UJ-free …

        - it might not work/’Direction’ given/threats to sanction etc.
        - it depends what you think there is to lose.
        - either way what there is to lose is JSA/(?HB etc).
        - either way can end in sanction – as can doing both or neither.

It’s NOT popular & not recommending – but is worth remembering?. Is not popular at all with ‘advisers’ – perhaps some more so/less so than others? At the moment though, is still a possible (depending on circumstances & etc).

Not using – & especially asking to untick it as a JSag reqirement – is likely to win any points with advisers – may result in further/increased attempts to enforce it’s use/attempts to sanction – as is my current experience … It may be ‘accepted’ by them (but it’s not a real acceptance/they’re unhappy about it). May be more likely to ‘work’ as an argument if an account has been made & agreed to look at it – but may be not agreeing to ‘log in’/to look at on an occasional basis; May be possible to get them to ‘agree’ where other sites/means are ‘on record’/being used on a regular basis.

It’s not an Absolute Requirement (yet) – it has been deliberately made very difficult to ‘refuse to use’/many obstructions put in the way of not signing up/using though. Not yet mandatory per se, but unles already using other websites (which is probably a proportion of claimants) to find jobs then UJ almost inevitably is & is JCP ‘advisers’ option of choice to want to/try & (en)force & insist on.

        (… devil/deep blue sea … rock/hardplaice).

        • (Asking to untick as a requirement “not” likely to win any points).

            • ~ Have managed to get an amended one – (accidentally signed a version before that though not realising the UJ box was included on it. When with the ‘really reasonable/been-there-ages’ adviser for ages – in those halcyon days pre-work programme. They asked about an account as it was being printed (so was in a nervous state). That version was being printed to reflect a reduction in steps that was agreed post-GP visit – & adviser opted to believe my version of events (after no record from manager was noted on system). Somehow sort of half-trusted this adviser to the point of (madly) not reading both sides of it properly (he put the turned-over/back of form down for me to sign & was in some relief about the steps/not expecting it printed on there .. even after reading about the new all-inclusive version!). It jumped out at me as soon as turned it back over … (been had). Since had it removed though & had to really gear up for that conversation. They’ve questioned everything in great depth more recently
though (funny that) & so it ‘came up’ anyway …

After they insisted over & over again it wasn’t optional; “it might not always be acceptable” etc. (Direction wasn’t issued but seemed to be threatening to (not in so many words) – & insisted all job search records Must Be viewed or printed off preferably from UJ etc. So now it’s daggers drawn & handbags at dawn. So in this, they have told the truth – not using it is causing me problems (their main problem seems to be in having to read something that’s not on UJ & in not being able to give me jobs to apply for). UJ would have had me sanctioned already though ..

            • sn
yeah, they really try to trigger “guilt”,the guilt should not be there, but somehow is, years of school “education” etc, puts the guilt there…

      • “Using UJM and applying for jobs on there is now a requirement to satisfy your JSA agreement.”

No it’s not. There’s a tick box next to the “Check my Universal Jobmatch account for jobs” and it’s there for a reason, that being that UJM is NOT mandatory, never has been, and under JSAg, never will be.

  19. Heres a very interesting read from the Manchester Citizens Advice Bureau on sanctions and their impact on clients and claimants – Once you open the link below, go to download the report link.

  20. Just to add, includes receivers of Carers Allowance, the tweet indeed clearly demonstrates the disingenuity of pre election TV debates teary eyed appearances and mentioning of “angels”.Carers of course save the taxpayer(as we all are) far more than most will ever pay in a lifetime, and may also be in paid employment. This policy therefore must affect the “protected” disabled DLA receivers.Vile tweet, hatefilled tweet applied to decent people. The true scum are the senders of such tweets.

A bigger crime and I dont want to trivialise the number of suicides is the number of unsuccessful suicides. I have myself been driven by DWP henchmen to attempt to take my own life on three occasions. I am now a physical and psychological wreck. I worry every day that the next brown envilope will be the last thing I will see on this earth and why to quench the blood lust of the snouts in the trough ruling class. The £87K that I traded for £105 on the breadline pales into insignificance when measured againt the cost of a decade of wonderful NHS treatments. I firmly beleve this unelected government’s agenda is one of final solution ugenics.

  23. I did not read it ALL, just got hyped and started typing I guess…..Who are you to judge though Jed?
