Well, we made it two weeks in a row which is possibly a record for a void regular series. So here’s a round up of free shit happening in the Capital over the weekend.
First mention has to be for South London’s largest free festival, Lambeth Country Fair, taking place over both Saturday and Sunday in Brockwell Park, SW2. With no less than prize winning vegetables, jousting and sheep dogs herding geese there’s loads for kids to do and strong cider on tap from the Chucklehead Cider Company.
The main stage is headlined by soul star Omar on Saturday whilst on Sunday rumours abound that Alton Ellis will now not be playing due a Lambeth Council fuck up and has been replaced by Aswad. This is not confirmed so don’t blame us if we’ve got it wrong.
Also in South London Bonkersfest returns with a programme of Denormailisation on Camberwell Green. Happening Saturday the main stage has Gertrude and Colin Powerstepper (the man behind Zion Train) and runs to a respectable 9pm.
Meanwhile down the road I Love Peckham reaches it’s weekend finale finish with music on Rye Lane and in Peckham Sqaure. Acts include the classily named Boycott Coca-Cola Experience and a full line up can be found here.
North London folk can head to Walthamstow Green Fair, in Lloyd and Aveling Park on Sunday which is not a huge event but pleasant enough (no Victoria Line folks).
Or well-heeled West London types can probably afford the quid to get in to Ealing Festival in Walpole Park which kicks off with blues on Saturday and World Music on Sunday.
