The Stop the War Coalition, five years of failure

Class War open letter to the Stop the War Coalition

Let them drink meths

Homeless charities have, as ever, got it hopelessly wrong with their kiljoy proposals to price strong lager out of the range of street drinkers .

Jeremy Swain, director of Thamesreach claims:

“If a can of super strength lager becomes too expensive for homeless alcoholics to buy, we are certain that lives will be saved.”

Meanwhile reactionary fuckwit John Bird has claimed that strong lagers “are like legal cocaine”, which is something old Birdy should know a lot about.

Thamesreach are one of largest homeless charities in the UK and have successively kowtowed to Labour Party dictats on begging, soup runs and now street drinking in moves which have only caused further isolation to the very people they claim to help.

Thamesreach work on the Victorian notion of the undeserving poor and consider that the only way to get a man back on his feet is to kick him whilst he’s down. Thamesreach consider that giving to beggars, soup runs and cheap booze makes life on the street too easy and discourages people from pulling their socks up and getting to work seeking the scant help that homeless charities offer.

Well Jeremy, let’s get one thing straight – life on the street is fucking hard. Whilst Thamesreach play politics they fail to understand that free food, the odd quid, a blanket here and there saves lives and makes an unbearable situation well, that little bit more bearable.

In the Homeless industries world if a beggar can’t afford another can then he’ll immediately move into a hostel, dry out, start a training course and then live a life of prosperity and contentment as a supermarket cashier living in a housing association bedsit.

(except the hostel won’t have any beds, the detox centres are full and the dole will cut their benefit for taking up the wrong kind of training course).

One of the many reasons for the growth in street drinking is that the price of a pint has forced people out of pubs whilst out on the street people drank cooking sherry or meths.

There will always be a cheap as chips way to get pissed.

Round here you can get a bottle of smuggled vodka for little more then a fiver or one of the cheapest ways to get rat-arsed is some of the dirt cheap red wine knocking about.

Of course Thamesreach execs have far too much self-interest to call for higher taxes on red wine.

Alcoholics are resourceful folk when it come’s to getting hold of alcohol and you can’t bully someone out of an addiction. So if the price of spesh’ goes up them expect more begging, more theft and sales of lighter fuel to rocket.

People need a safe space from which to move forward. Proscribed heroin experiments the world over have shown how this can stabilise an individual and allow them to take the next steps towards rebuilding their life.

So perhaps Thamesreach should be calling for free booze and social housing for all!

Not likely when simplistic soundbites make good copy and keep Jeremy’s name in the papers.

Fox News Fingers Anarchists for Times Square Bombing!

Times Square Bombing Possibly Tied to New York Anarchist Groups, Source Says

Fox News are claiming that ‘chaos crazed’ anarchist groups may be behind the recent Time Square bombings. Although their ‘source’ is never revealed Fox point out:

“the bombing fell on the one-year anniversary of the death of New York-based anarchist Brad Will, murdered by the state shot while filming a violent demonstration in Mexico.”

In the interests of helping the authorities in their inquiries we’ve done a bit of digging ourselves to help the hapless cops with their investigation:

In 1996 on the 8th March Gerry Adams claimed that the IRA is preparing for another 25 years of war – New York has a large Irish community … we’ll say no more.

More worrying on the 8th March is the day the Alamo fell to Mexican forces in 1836 killing good ol’ boy Davy Crockett – Mexicans eh .. hmm.

In 1930 on the 8th March Clarence Birdseye launched the first range of frozen foods, those health food groups have been seeming a bit radical for our liking at the moment.

Meanwhile in 1890 an ornithologist released 60 pairs of starlings in New York’s Central Park as a memorial to William Shakespeare. Starlings are now one of the US’s greatest pests and subject to regular culls. Could a radical ornithology group be behind the bombings?

Where was RSPB President Jonathan Dimbleby on the day in question? We have a right to know.

We also note that on the 8th March Ghana gained independance and the Indian Mutiny within the British Army began.

So there’s a lot to go on, we’ll be mailing this post to the Feds and hope it helps.

Coppers Wriggling in Fitwatch Trial

News from fitwatch:

Prosecution stamps feet and refuses to admit defeat in Fitwatch trial

The Fitwatch climate camp trial came to an abrupt halt on Thursday after the senior CPS lawyer sulked about losing an application to an unrepresented defendant and decided to take the District Judge’s decision to Judicial Review.

The application, to amend the charge of obstruct police to obstructing a cameraman assisting the police, was one of several the prosecution were planning to throw at the defence on the day.

The defence successfully argued this to be a change in charge, not an amendment, and that given the case had been running for over six months, it was too late to change the charge.

The defence further submitted that given the prosecution wanted to change the charge, they were accepting there was no case to answer on the original charges. However, instead of gracefully admitted defeat, they sulked.

Meanwhile the defence were presented with a bundle of further statements, including an analysis of a DVD which has never been served and, courtesy of DS Hodgson at New Scotland Yard, forty pages of the Fitwatch blog. The defendant could not understand why she was being presented with forty pages of a blog when there was no evidence presented to say she was associated with it in any manner.

The lengths they are going to and the money they are throwing at this case shows they are taking us seriously. They are desperate to secure a Fitwatch conviction and seem to prepared to go to extreme lengths to get one.

Let’s keep up the pressure and show we will not back down.

Food Reclaimed!

Reclaim Your Food successfully distributed vegan food in Brixton Town square today despite two arrests the previous week for the same activity.

A minimal police presence was maintained photographing everybody present but spirits were kept high and there are definitely worse ways to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Between 50 and 60 folk were present at it’s busiest, many of them local and many shocked at the police surveillance some of us have come to expect.

Here’s some (fairly ropy) pics:

In other parts of Brixton it was business as usual

Shame on the BBC …

… for giving Nick Griffen a virtually unopposed platform on Newsnight

and for assuming that someone like Griffen is an apt spokesperson for the white, working class.

One class, one class war.

The level of melatonin in someone’s skin or where they or their grandparents happen to have been born is a divisive irrelevence.

New kids on the block, the eloquently named Class War Youth Death Brigade say it well.

(sorry for the ranting, the void was pissed and pissed off)

Was Jersey Toff in Charge at Haut de la Garenne?

Internet rumours are spreading that the current Bailiff of Jersey and Knight of the British Empire, Sir Philip Martin Bailhache was the governor at the Jersey boy’s school (Haut de la Garenne) currently being investigated by police in the 70′s and 80′s.

Whatever the case it seems that this abuse had been reported to both the authorities and the local media many times and nothing was ever done.

Stuart Syvret, Jersey’s former health and social security minister, has no doubt that an officially orchestrated “culture of concealment” has been in place on the island for since the late 1940s.

Syvret was sacked from his position shortly after claiming to have uncovered evidence that abuse of vulnerable youngsters had been going on in state-run institutions for decades.

On going public with his claims he was “shouted down” by colleagues in the States Assembly and even had his microphone switched off. Syvret continues to expose the culture of secrecy on the island noting:

“In a period of time of under two weeks, journalists with no prior knowledge of Jersey – let alone the atrocities against children – have uncovered twenty times more important information – than the entire panoply of Jersey media has – in six decades.”

Syvret has started a blog discussing Jersey’s murky underbelly at: http://stuartsyvret.blogspot.com/

2 Arrests for Vegan Curry!

Now we’ve had some dodgy food in squats and social centres in the past but the actions of Brixton plod last Sunday are a touch over the top.

Lambeth based Reclaim Your Food have been distributing free Sunday lunches in Brixton Town Square for several weeks but it seems that the noble boys in blue intend to stamp out this nefarious practice.

Two people were arrested last week when the police declared the distribution of free food to be illegal claiming it attracts HOMELESS people who might use DRUGS! Another spurious justification given by the Met is that it was affecting local businesses ability to trade.

With Mcdonalds and KFC both occupying prime spots in Brixton centre Reclaim Your Food are showing a blatant disregard for the rights of multi-nationals to make a profit. Free trade does not mean Free!

The godless communists have vowed to meet in the square again this Sunday, opposite the Ritzy from 2/3pm.
