“This is Fuck the War Coalition, and we want to bring the war home to those who profit from imperialism.
This morning we attacked 4 targets around Edinburgh on the 5th anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq.
We attacked the US consulate with paint-bombs and paint stripper; smashed the Army Recruitment office on Shandwick Place; vandalised the corrupt chancellor Alistair Darlings office; and the arms company SELEX had its windows smashed.
We did these actions to draw attention to two recent studies: one that puts the civilian dead as a result of the war in Iraq at a shocking 1.2 million, and a poll which shows that the majority of Iraqis believe that the imperialist forces are doing more harm than good, and that they need to withdraw immediately.
We also say to those people who are marching in Glasgow this Saturday, that it is not enough to march in the streets and petition our corrupt politicians. The time is long overdue for more direct measures to prevent this bloody war from continuing.
